oopsacoconut · 29/06/2008 20:43

I'm liking the bag CC so does DH. Still haven't thought of one for myself yet. should really get on with it!

CaptainCaveman · 29/06/2008 20:44

oops I adore Richard Hammond so would much prefer to be watching Top Gear. We are sky plussing it though so will settle for drooling over watching it tomorrow .

Right, I'm off to eat a Fab lolly

CaptainCaveman · 29/06/2008 20:45

I like the bag as it's not too girlie so dh can't profess to have issues with it!!

bigboydiditandranaway · 29/06/2008 21:05

yes i like the bag too and also the german captain, no13 is fit too!

just a thought beclain, what if u have your baby in the middle of the night with nothing to eat afterwards shouldn't you at least pack a packet of jaffa cakes

TwilightSurfer · 29/06/2008 21:56

Shall we all make wagers on Bealcain's baby's arrival. 01JUL @ 7am is my guess.

Captain, that bag looks alot like one I've been looking at. Side note: BOOTS is the brand of my face lotion..The Power of Plant Botanics Night Moisture Cream.

Well hiccups prove baby is head down again. Does the baby drop slowly or quickly because I'm feeling more and more pressure on my pelvic floor.....making it a joy to walk.

OP posts:
HazieDazieandBaby · 29/06/2008 22:03

TS, I'm not sure about how quickly (or not) the baby's head drops, but I've been feeling like I've had a kick in the fanjo from a horse today and haven't had that before now - oh the joys! Hope you're not feeling too uncomfortable.

oopsacoconut · 29/06/2008 22:06

Night night all got to be up early for an 8am gym session can't for the life of me remember why I am still going though? On the plus side that must be why i cn still shave my legs without a hassle ( at least that's what i tell myself)

TS i'll take 29th June @ 22.30 PLeased to hear littlesurfer is head down again hopefully the pressure is her engaging - which give less chance of turning later [fingers crossed emoticon]

poppysocks · 29/06/2008 22:24

Ooh, how exciting. Our first baby on it's way??? Might even share my birthday! (Today!)

Had a lovely day actually doing not very much, but DD has been good and DH lovely at giving me a good rest.

It's all changed in the last couple of days and I can well and truly join the uncomfortable corner. NO idea how this baby is lying, but my lungs are definitely not being given as much space as they need and the heartburn..... SO hoping I manage to sleep tonight as I certainly didn't last night. Ho hum.

poppysocks · 29/06/2008 22:31

Oh and leg shaving... Having trouble with that too. Have so nearly toppled over a few times recently. Combination of small shower cubicle, attempts at balancing and large bump not good. You're managing DIY, Miamla when I can't even manage basic personal grooming. Respect!

VintageGardenia · 29/06/2008 23:04

Hi all just 2 quick messages, dizzy I am so sorry about your poor mum being taken in. Thinking of you and her, xxx. And bealcain thinking of you too and in awe at your calmness! Will be working tomorrow but hope to check in at some point and see how things progress for you and your lo.

Best to everyone else, at skirting, miamla but also secretly [impressed emoticon].

Night night.

bealcain · 30/06/2008 07:51

morning everyone. been up through the night with contractions, but sorry oops, still no baby. got a check up today so we'll just wait and see.

on the plus side i've almost finished knitting her a blanket,so hopefully that will be done before she arrives or it'll never get done. DH still cant see and is now in excruiating pain so need to drive him to the dr's adn then me to hosp. whilst having contractions. At least if he cant see he wont remember me looking like shite!!

LadyOfWaffle · 30/06/2008 07:59

Yikes - can you get him a taxi? How do you feel?

bealcain · 30/06/2008 08:02

o it'll be fine. it;s not fr and i can always pull over!! that's what hazard lights are for! just hope his appt. doesn't clash with school run!!

LadyOfWaffle · 30/06/2008 08:03

Miamla - I think it was because our walls are wonky, the skirting was up to an inch away from the walls in places so I tried to bodge it up with some laminate flooring mini skirting stuff, and I couldn't get the corners cut right. It was truely awful! DH gets stroppy when DIYing, but then drones on about how he could be a property developer when it all goes right!

LadyOfWaffle · 30/06/2008 08:06

school run ???? Is there anyone there who can help out? You will have your baby in the playground/car/GPs !

miamla · 30/06/2008 09:01

preg1 nope, the girl you described was caroline waters. i was one of the shortest in my year until the 6th form when i had a late, but sudden growth spurt! i used to hate it when the nuns squished your dinner up..i haven't eaten baked beans since my days at st joes! but the puddings....i used to love the puddings! lots of stodge with custard!
i do have a photo of me from school that i had out quite recently so i'll stick it on my profile for your amusement later!

bealcain crib restoration has been put on hold until after i've finished putting in new skirting boards in our bedroom (its ok, i had a chat with baby and he's agreed to wait where he is until the crib is finished!)
plans for crib involve me rubbing it all down though. lead paint and my PFB aren't two things i want to mix!
and wow! you're still so calm about things.. i hope to take a leaf out of your book when i'm in the same situation! how's your DH doing? actually, seem to remember you saying he's watching the football so he's obviously not overly concerned either!
BUT... please get a taxi to he GPs!!!

CC hope your colleagues do something for you! Oooh and that's a lovely bag, i approve! you may use that one!

poppy happy birthday for yday!! as for personal grooming, i haven't shaved my legs (apart from my ankles!) nor my garden for a fair few weeks. with our bedroom its a case of having to do the work before carpet fitter arrives on friday. my thigh muscles are not thanking me this morning from all the squatting down but as DP pointed out, its all good practice for labour positions

my baby order has just arrived!!! but i've promised DP we'll open it together, what will happen first...me opening the parcels or bealcain's baby?!! place your bets!

miamla · 30/06/2008 09:07

LoW you've made me feel better about the gaps i've got! the biggest is about 1/4" hmm now where's my diy halo gone? it needs a polish! Sounds like your task was harder though if the walls were that wonky! i second you getting someone in to do the next lot!

so, my mat leave starts today and my first day off work is going to involve more work than if i'd gone into the office! on today's list i've got
packed lunch for DP - done (1 million brownie points earnt!)
clean bathroom - done (2 million brownie points earnt because i did it at 6.30am!)
finish cutting and drilling skirting boards ready for painting
paint skirting boards
rub down cradle
resist urge of opening packages
have a little peruse on MN - ongoing but i'm doing well so far!
finish baby blanket for my friend - getting there!
visit friend with blanket and have a cuddle with her 7day old baby boy!

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 09:27

HAppy first day of maternity leave miamla.

Can't belive how calm bealcain is .

How was everyone's night? poppysocks? Mine was pretty rubbish. First off my legs were restless, then I was just uncomfy, then i needed the loo a lot, then my hips hurt from being lain on, and i had heartburn, and i had odd dreams cos I was only drifting in and out of sleep. Grr.

Took dd to school (after she woke up and found her coin for the (swallowed) tooth under her pillow. Convinced her to put it in her piggy bank (had to prove i knew how to open it again though... v wise that girl.. would you put your money into something you didn't know for sure how to retrieve it from??!!?? )). She;s going to her friend's house after school so was super excited. Am now eating tuna sandwich - cos couldn't manage much brekkie after an early morning puking session . Then have my appt to see the woamn who I was having counselling with after the miscarriages. Kind of think I've had all the benefit from her now cos although I still don't feel great emotionally, I find things she says wind me up, which can't be good can it??
Theni need to clean the kitchen, and generally supervise the cupboard erecting going on in baby's room (a friend of ours, who decorated the room for us, is helping dh build my piles of ikea stuff!). then I have my last work evening. I feel a bit pathetic that I'm struggling with one evening a week when lots of you are still battling on with full time plus commutes, but hey ho!

Buckets · 30/06/2008 09:32

LOL at Bealcain, full stop. Just PMSL at how cool she is! Good luck you nutter.

For us overachieving organisers, I had an idea today of doing bags for my kids as they will be farmed out separately for my CSec so I guess it would be an even better idea for those waiting for fate to intervene (at most inconvenient moment natch). Thought I'd buy them both some new shortie PJs, new toothbrushes, pants/nappies etc, little card from me and DH and a wrapped toy from the new baby perhaps.

My blue day yesterday turned into another hysterical sobbing fit (becoming weekly now, like prev pgcies) so DH bought me loads of chocolate. We managed a huge bag of Revels and a Ripple between us but have saved 2 Galaxies for tonight as we were too stuffed!

Happy birthday Poppysocks.

poppysocks · 30/06/2008 09:51

Bealcain . Can't believe how cool, calm and collected you are! Please be careful though. Good luck!

Had a much better night last night. Phew! Seems to be one night on, one night off, so not tooooo bad really. Sorry to hear your night wasn't so good ALBS. Amazing (and scary given what we've got coming up) how different the day looks when you've had some decent sleep or not.

LOL at your DD and her piggy bank ALBS. Clever girl you have there!

Enjoy your first day of maternity leave miamla. What an amazing final day you had! I'm gradually cutting down now, so no Mondays and Fridays this week and next and then off! Major dilemma of the morning was to go over to large town to buy some birthday shoes and some baby stuff, or wander/waddle into local town, have a coffee (and cake) and get birthday thank you notes done. Latter won so I'll be off soon. Should also do some ironing, cleaning, tidying etc. Less said about that the better though...

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 10:03

morning all

poppysocks a belated happy birthday, am sorry to have missed you at Carinie - we're normally there all the time would love to meet up but am not sure how this week is going at all at the moment, will get back to you though

bealcain lots of lovely positive thoughts to both you and dh

everyone else, sorry to hear general tiredness/soreness etc and sorry to be so random in my posting

am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment tbh. am back home as of last night as we have SO much on this week - I just can't believe how much is going on

dd1 has her dance show/ nursery trip/ pre school concert/ birthday party

they're both at nursery Mon/Tues and Wed morning thank goodness! I have a scan and the consultant tomorrow morning for gestational diabetic clinic on my own as dh will be sleeping off a nightshift

visitors arrive on Fri - at least its my lovely best friend who I don't need to pander after/clean up for and her son who will keep dd1 entertained.

we'll need to go back down the road on Wed to see mum, luckily I found her a bit better yesterday so wasn't so gut wrenching to leave her

am miserable cow, sorry, I didn't meant to come on and be all me me me

dh made me a lovely breakfast which was nice and am just sitting waiting till 10am when I can phone and see what kind of night she's had

will sign off for now until I can say something that won't make you all want to stick your head in the gas oven

poppysocks · 30/06/2008 10:11

So sorry things are so stressful Dizzy. Don't worry at all about venting on here. As you've said more than once, it's what we're here for! Hope the news is good from the hospital. I'm off a fair bit in the next few weeks but DD's hours at nursery haven't reduced yet, so please please let me know if I can help at all - fetching and carrying, childcare - whatever you need.

CaptainCaveman · 30/06/2008 10:23

(((((dizzy))))) you say what you like m'dear, we are here to listen! Whatever your relationship with your parents (good, bad, indifferent) to be faced with them becoming very unwell puts a different perspective on things, and undoubtedly gives you a whole other load of emotions to deal with on top of being pg. Please take it easy on yourself - you are allowed to feel however you like, whenever you like (take it from a woman who's had 4 years of counselling ).

bealcain please please check your insurance - you may not be covered if you drive whilst in labour . Good luck for what sounds like a fairly imminent birth though! I'll go for June 30th at 5.27pm.

miamla do enjoy your first day of mat leave! Cleaning - what's that all about?

I'm taking ds to an adventure outdoor play place today - his nursery is shut this week. I figured I may be able to sit and watch lots whilst he runs about like a crazed loon.

On the plus side, its 10.25 and I'm still in my pjs!

Expectant · 30/06/2008 10:54

Bealcain - hope the appointments are ok and that you get there safely!

Poppy - happy birthday for yesterday

Dizzy - certainly don't think of you as a miserable cow. Hope that your Mum improves some more today.

LoW - your skirting board experience sounds decidedly like ours. DH and I couldn't get the angles right no matter how hard we tried. I think we ended up killing several trees and had a big argument about it! So pleased to be in rented accommodation over here!

Had a scan this morning. The baby has turned and is no longer breech . Measuring about 2 weeks ahead but her estimate was for 3.5kgs so think that she must have been comparing me to Singaporean women as that is about average isn't it?

cyteen · 30/06/2008 10:59

Hi girls

dizzy many hugs for you and your mum...I wish you all strength and peace through this harsh trial.

poppysocks happy birthday for yesterday! I do hope you were showered with many presents.

miamla am also very impressed with your stellar DIY effort. I can barely wire a plug at the best of times, and with this ridiculous bump sticking out in front of me all the time even putting a wash on is an effort! Am also very impressed with your colleagues, how lovely of them all I finished work on Friday too but just snuck out without saying goodbye to anyone apart from my boss's lovely PA. Hardly anyone knows me there anyway, as I work part time and also was off so much last year, and those that do probably hate me because I'm such a bad tempered bitch most of the time I'm in the office. So I thought I'd spare everyone's blushes and just leave; besides, I hate making a fuss.

bealcain is that baby here yet? I have visions of you stuck in traffic, calmly delivering yourself while knitting with your free hand Mighty good luck girl, keep us posted.

So we have had an interesting (and long) weekend...went down to Wales to visit DP's sister and her family. Had horrific drive that took much longer than it should have thanks to bloody Google Maps and also the gate on the toll bridge getting stuck. It was boiling in the car which made me feel dreadful the whole way down. But once we got there, it was lovely. SIL has given us four or five HUGE bags of baby clothes and other stuff, from newborn all the way up to 24 months - how wonderful of her, honestly we will not need to spend a thing on clothes from now on I'm going to spend some of today sorting through it and putting some of the really tiny things through the wash.

As well as masses of clothes, we came away with quite an insight into what it's like being the parent of a small boy (SIL has 3 year old son and adorable 4 month old daughter). Horrific farts, constant singsong repetition of hilarious words like poo bum and peepee, unthinking assumption that the world revolves around him and everyone will stop talking/doing what they're doing as and when he has something to say/do...not to mention the constant throwing of self onto any available adult, climbing all over them, demanding to be picked up/thrown around/carried on shoulders etc. I don't mind admitting that there were several "wtf have we done?" looks exchanged between Mr K and I during the course of the weekend Of course this doesn't mean that said small boy isn't lovely and loving and wonderful too, because he is. But still...eek.

Never mind. As SIL pointed out, you always feel differently about your own kids (i.e. the love makes it bearable ).

Am 32 weeks today We're getting close! Has anyone else noticed movement slowing down a bit? Squidboy has been quite sedate the last couple of days, lots of wriggling but less strong 'oof!' type kicks and that. I read somewhere that they are running out of room about now, so maybe that's it, but was expecting it to be noticeable a little later on.
