i cried at dds tantrum today when she wouldn't get in the pushchair so i could take her to her singing group at the library she gave me a hug though, then resumed the tantrum!

MarkStretch · 17/06/2008 20:08

My friend (who isn't pregnant) cried at me when I told her I was! It must be catching.

Had a friend round for coffee today and she told me she has a loft full of baby stuff (she has dd's aged 5 and 10 months), including cots, buggies, clothes, baby rockers, blankets, 2 travel systems (!) and I can have first refusal when the time comes

I was relieved as I don't have a thing left from when dd was a baby.

louisebunny · 17/06/2008 20:23

Hi girls, sorry I've not been on in a couple of days. Had a bit of a scare, had to go into hospital with pains last night. All seems to be ok, but am having a scan tomorrow to see if they can tell if its ectopic or not

I'm only about 5weeks 3days so don't know if they'll see anything or not, keeping my fingers crossed

loopylula · 17/06/2008 20:27

Oh Lousebunny. Hope you are ok. Goodluck with scan tomorrow, will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Talking about crying uncontrollably, I remember spending a friday night in by myself to watch comic relief when pregnant last time ? big mistake.

I've got 6 weeks to go until scan ? how much are private ones?!

Wow - that's very interesting about St George's free early scans.

There will probably be an immense queue there first thing tomorrow morning now that its been declared on MN.

TinkerbellesMum · 17/06/2008 22:30

Shame we didn't know sooner (about St G's and being pregnant) as we were in Croydon at the weekend! My DSS's were born there!

Funny thing is we've been talking about testing since Thursday or Friday, but I guess were too scared to find out and I guess Fathers Day wasn't the best time to be doing it.

onwardandupward · 17/06/2008 23:27

nappies: breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose...

breastfeeding: tender nipples but breasts maintaining their usual petite southward leanings (dammit)

sickness: cream crackers. Eating little and often. Ginger root chopped up small and pour hot water on (I've been adding lemon juice sometimes, and lemon balm and meadowsweet sometimes, from neals yard). And I'm eating loads of oranges which is weirdly helping. And had a bath tonight with orange essential oil in which was glorious. Expensive tesco's ginger cookies. and eating whatever the hell you feel like. And more cream crackers, nibbled really slowly. And more ginger tea. I'm not usually sick, but I VILL NOT TOLERATE ZIS NAUSEA.

And sod it, I can't be doing with namechanging any more, so I'm out and proud: onwardandupward was formerly known as hopingforasecond

McDreamy · 18/06/2008 07:11

Ooooh felt a bit queasy this morning, but managed to eat some breakfast and feel a whole lot better. Boobs still tingly but apart from that feeling ok, by the end of the day I crash though. Went to bed to read my book last night and can't even remember picking it up!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day, great news GG!

McDreamy · 18/06/2008 07:12

Goodluck today Louisebunny, I have my fingers crossed for you

loopylula · 18/06/2008 07:45

Biscuit that's great info about St. Georges, I am not a million miles away.

I got this niggly ache on my left side which seems to get better as the day goes on and then returns after I've eaten in the evening, right about the time I want to crash. Any idas on what that could be?

Singingintherain · 18/06/2008 07:50

Looks like I might be signing off this thread unfortunately.

Had another scan last night as Consultant could fit me in. Too many concerns over size, so I have been warned that this is not going to continue.

My emergency scan showed 15mm last Thursday, they said 4 - 5 weeks. Last night it measured the same, but she said 6 weeks. She expected it to have grown a little more in the last 4 days (actually 5 days). So there appears to be not much hope for me. They told me not to build my hopes up.

Good luck to everyone else.

McDreamy · 18/06/2008 08:23

Oh singing I'm so sorry

loopylula · 18/06/2008 08:35

So sorry Singing. My thoughts are with you hon.

loopylula · 18/06/2008 08:43

Anyone know what is safe to take for trapped wind?! Phoned EPU about tummy ache and they said most likely trapped wind . Felt like a bit of an idiot but it has put my mind at rest slightly.

ruthmollymummy · 18/06/2008 09:13

I need help!!

I do bodyshop parties and I was doing one last night - didnt know anyone there - and all of a sudden I felt this pain across the top of my stomach and down my sides. It lingered for a while and I had to sit down and stop talking, then I went dead white and had to run to the toilet and throw up - I almost didn't make it! In a strangers house!!

thankfully all the women were lovely cos I told them I am preggers. But what was that? It happened once last time when I was about 5 months and DH rushed me to hospital - doc told us it was indigestion?? surely not that painful? Like I was in and out of reality with the pain??

has anyone else had this? is it really just indigestion?

p.s. - I hadn't eaten anything for hours!!!

loopylula · 18/06/2008 09:21

Sound like you've got a similar problem to me. My tummy aches, although not a sharp pain like yours, have been been at the top of my tummy and in my sides. I spoke to the EPU about them this morning and they said the pains sounded too high to be a concern and if there was something wrong with my pregancy they would expect the pain to be really low down in my pelvis.

Trapped wind and/or constipation was their verdict! Basically all the hormones slow down your digestive transit considerably and cause tummy trouble.

They told me to see how I got on for the next 24 hours and if the pain worsened or didn't improve then I should go and see my GP.

Don't know if that helps but it made me feel better talking to them ? I've been suffering every evening for the last few days and waking up with pain too.

loopylula · 18/06/2008 09:24

I meant 'pregnancy' .

A personal question, I know, and don't feel you have to answer, but when was the last time you did a number 2? Have you noticed a slow down at that end . I know I have, I usually have a very regular and fast transit but I have noticed a decline.

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 09:52

Singingintherain - thinking of you and hoping everything turns out ok. Remember how innacurate scans can be (the stresses I went through being told my baby was small and possibly not developing properly right through until I gave birth to a bouncing great 9lb1oz baby).

And Loopylula I think constipation is one of the most classic pregnancy symptoms. Crack open the prune juice if it gets desperate! As far as I understand everything moves more slowly through your system so that the importnt nutrients can be better absorbed for the baby's benefit.

I don't know anything about the other tummy aches, but I've been getting heartburn a lot - especially from coffee. Guess I need to stop drinking coffee. How I will manage to stay awake all day without it I don't know.

LittleSarah · 18/06/2008 10:23

So sorry singintherain!

Good luck to francesrivis and lousiebunny!

Symptoms still pretty much the same, nausea in the am (and afternoon sometimes too!) and then sore tummy (guessing indigestive stuff) of different sort in the evening. Ugh. Knackered too, in bed 10pm til 8am last night, can't wait for first trimester to be over at the moment.

Going to see nurse today for first antenatal appointment in an hour, quite excited, have to take dd though, and have no memory of what to expect!

On the nausea side I do find it helps when df gets up and makes me toast before I get out of bed.

Great tips from onwardsandupwards though, will definitely be trying some of those!

LittleSarah · 18/06/2008 10:24

Oh and the crying... done that recently, over nothing at all!

oooggs · 18/06/2008 10:30

blimey its hard to keep up with you lot

ruthmollymummy · 18/06/2008 10:44

thanks loopylula - It is good to have someone else say that the pain is too high to be concerned about bean. Its just a panic when anything untoward happens and more than a little embarrassing for it just to be wind!

I'm not a very regular number 2er anyway! But I've not noticed a big change!

The worst thing was being sick in a stranger's house! and it caught me so unawares I didn't quite make it true into the loo!

Clarabumps · 18/06/2008 10:52

i know this thread moves so fast..so sorry singing!! It makes me really nervous when someone has to leave the thread. I feel so awful for them and then think..oh god am i next? i cried the other night as dp was joking about paying more attention to the new baby and locking my ds in the cellar like cinderella. and i lost it and started bawling..he thought i was laughing..i wasn't. we dont even have a cellar..i live in a flat on the 20th floor. I just got really upset and it took him half an hour to calm me down. And to makes matters worse i said i dint think he was ready to be a dad with such bad jokes like that.
urgh!hormones?!!
