Singingintherain · 18/06/2008 10:55

Please forgive my stupid question, but I was also wondering if there is anything that I can do to help give more nurishment to promote growth.

I wondered if it is because I have not been eating very well. I know it is a long shot, but I will try anything.

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 10:55

I can see you profile

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 11:01

I was given a book on eating last time, but can't find it. Last time I ended up giving in to any and every craving in an effort to ensure baby didn't miss out on any nutrients (I'm vegetarian anyway, so probably eat pretty healthily but need to watch the protein levels) but think I probably ate too much cheese cake! Think it was sheer gluttony rather than a genuine craving that drove me to it.

Found this website which may help: www.eatingforpregnancy.co.uk/

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 11:05

And this is a fairly succinct summary of advice
www.bbc.co.uk/parenting/having_a_baby/pregnancy_diet.shtml

Last time I ate masses of chick peas - even before I found I was pregnant I couldn't get enough of them (chick pea and baby leaf spinach salad with balsamic dressing every single day for first trimester). This time I seem to want fennel. I found myself buying fresh fennel as well as fennel tea bags in the supermarket yesterday.

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 11:08

I was constipated in my other pregnancies and had to be on lactulose, I cried with the pain. This time I've been looser than normal!

Singing, I'mnot sure there is, but if you have a look at BabyFit it has trackers and a lot of info for pregnancy diet and exercise.

Clarabumps · 18/06/2008 11:13

see i think i might be having a bit of that trouble..i dread going to the loo. Tinkerbelles mum- just had a wee look at your profile. What a wee angel she is!aww- i'm off to have a nosey at people's profiles.

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 11:17

hello all the newbies! wow..... still can't get over how many of us there are, my aug 06 group only had about 20 and not all of them posted after they joined.

francesrivis.... i bf dd til i was 3 months preg with ds and even after i stopped my boobs never got that full, sore feeling. they just stayed soft and full of milk for ds. am still feeding ds now and boobs seem to be ignoring the preg again.

i've told my 2 already that there's a new baby on the way. when i was having ds i kept dd informed the whole way through and she used to love cuddling and kissing my bump and they would actually 'play' together with her touching his toes through my belly and him kicking back at her. when i came home from the hospital she ran up to the car seat with a huge grin and gave him a big kiss, there's never been a moments jealousy from her and i do believe that's largly because ds wasn't a shock to her. am hoping it works this time again!

i'm 7 weeks today, went to the gp on monday and have my referal letters to post to the hospital. she was lovely, really happy for me and i'm to go back to her at 10 weeks just for a check up and at 13 so she can try and hear the heartbeat for me. tis nice of her as i'll be waiting a long time for the hospital, earliest i'll be booked in is 16/17 weeks and they might not scan me til 20 weeks stoopid irish hospitals!

Singingintherain · 18/06/2008 11:23

Thank you for trying. I just went to a site and put in my details. I was rather upset as I could not use it as it said I was Obese and needed to consult my Doctor.

Clarabumps · 18/06/2008 11:27

i though glasgow was bad for scanning- i'm trying not to think about how far away the scan date is but bloody hell its ages away! off to go a bit of tidying up..house is like a tip. and the baby's at nursery so theres no excuses..

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 11:33

dp i contemplating a private scan as we are very concerned about it being twins due to the intense MS and exhaustion so early in the preg. only place that does private scans is in dublin though so not at all practical for us to get there.

TinkerbellesMum Anytime from Christmas! (27, Birmingham. 3rd baby. Lily-Hope born 20 weeks 28-29/9/05, Tink born 31 weeks 17/7/06)

Hi! I've added myself to the list too! I'm due 4th Feb, although will be having c-section so will be a week or so before that I would imagine. Haven't had my booking in visit yet so not sure what they want to do with me.

Went for early scan this week as was having some dirty discharge (sorry if thats TMI!!) and baby has a heartbeat and is looking good!

Looking forward to getting to know people on here.

Annie x

BumpVLump · 18/06/2008 12:04

(TMI warning!)...All this talk of constipation is making me nervous- I seem to be going the other way! is it something I should be worrying about? I AM eating a lot of fruit...its not really bad. Juat a bit 'loose'. Sorry, Too much info!
Singing are you taking a supplement- like 'pregnecare'? It should have any nutrients you may be missing in your diet. All the best x

loopylula · 18/06/2008 12:17

Yeah, fruit will do that Bump! . I think ruthmolly and I need to follow your example! I don't seem to be hungry today but will go and graze on some pears for lunch.

AnnieBellyB · 18/06/2008 12:27

I can relate to both cases!! First two weeks I was constipated, then okay and now I'm 'the other way' too!! I've gone a bit mad on grapes so I'm putting it down to that.

And I've gone off chocolate!! This happened to anyone else?

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 12:38

Off chocolate - certainly not!

Grapes will certainly keep things moving. At the mere whiff of a grape my baby fills her nappy (sorry TMI again)

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 12:53

i've gone off pretty much anything edible at all really..... including chocolate.

can't drink tea, coffee, juice... in fact can barely stomach water.

on the plus side, maybe i won't gain as much weight with this one as with ds between the not being able to eat and the puking when i do i must be shedding kilos by the day!

TummyTrouble · 18/06/2008 13:11

Fruit and Fibre for breakfast (like eating cardboard, but worth it to keep things moving), oranges and a tin of prunes for an emergency. My doc wont prescribe anything as she thinks its better to do it naturally - however, my pharmacist will give me a bottle of lactose without prescription, so that's for a real emergency. Also lots of water and a pint of milk per day (that's a lot of tea!)

LuLuBai · 18/06/2008 13:18

Oh yes - I had forgotten - I had Bran Flakes every single day last time. They also have Folic Acid helpfully added in in case you forget to take a supplement

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 18/06/2008 13:32

Such a fast moving thread - I've fingers crossed for all you out there who are having a difficult time.

Have 24/7 nausea, improved only slightly by eating often. I've had porridge every morning for the last week and a half, and had it for a snack yesterday afternoon too! Otherwise not off food, or even wanting anything odd. Not noticed any changes to 'going' really, but am having heartburn, which I didn't have last time.

Hi all newbies, and just a nosy question AnnieBellyB, but why a c-section?

OP posts:
LittleSarah · 18/06/2008 15:17

Hello all

All fine at the nurse's except for some blood in urine which she said is probably urinary infection. I have been going quite a lot although no pain thereabouts as far as I've noticed.

Have had constipation although I think wheat flakes have been helping - gonna have some now - but will also get some more fruit down me!

I'm going to try this grazing type eating as tis supposed to help with the fricking nausea, urgh.

Feel bad for df, feel I am so dull and moany at the moment!

Singingintherain · 18/06/2008 16:36

I am so sorry if I keep going on. I am going out of my head with worry. I just keep looking at every angle trying to work it out for myself.

Does anyone know if you have to be at least four weeks pregnant before you get a positive? I am working backwards on my dates just to see if I can meet any of them given to me by Doctor and Consultant.

Otherwise it looks like this,

LMP - 27 April (irregular cycle due to mc in March)
Ov'd - 19th May
Phase of 10 days
Tested + - 29th May

Midwife - 7+2
Doctor - 4+6 = 5+6
Consultant - about 6 weeks
Me due to positive on 29th April (very faint) - 6+5

Thank you to anyone that can help

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 17:08

Random thought, I did this for another group I was on and looking at that list made me think of it. What do you think about making a map to show where we all are? I can either do it on Google or Frappr. Google can be set as close as you want it and Frappr is done somewhere near you, something to do with your Internet connection.

Let me know what you think.

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 17:10

You can test positive before you miss your period. It depends on the strength of the test and the strength of the hCG in your water.

Guitargirl · 18/06/2008 17:27

Singing - I had a faint positive 5 days before my period was due, or 10 days after ovulation. Do you know what your baby is currently measuring in mm? You can try looking the measurement up on a growth chart, I think they start from 6.5 weeks. I will look.

Guitargirl · 18/06/2008 17:41

Ok, the earliest measurements I could find on a fetal growth chart started from 8 weeks. But I did find this response from a GP on a website in response to a question about fetal growth:

'At 6 weeks gestation, the average CRL (crown - rump length) measurement is .45cm or 4.5mm...at 6.5 weeks, the average is 6.5mm'.

Don't know if this helps at all?
