And while on the subject - Popcorn must also always be savoury.

LuLuBai · 17/06/2008 13:21

And hope you managed to retrieve the coal. If it is any consolation my DD has eaten quite a lot of coal in her time. And I found pebbles in her nappy at the weekend. No wonder she was grumpy!

francesrivis · 17/06/2008 13:23

Hello ladies. I've had a bit of a traumatic 24 hours I'm afraid. I bled quite heavily for about an hour yesterday afternoon. Was lucky enough to be able to see GP immediately, and she referred me for a scan which I've had this morning. This was inconclusive - they could see a pregnancy sac but no embryo and couldn't say whether this is because there isn't one or because pg isn't as far on as I think. I have an appointment for another scan Friday week, and I think it's going to be a long ten days! Will probably not be on this thread again until I know one way or the other - please keep your fingers crossed for me.

loopylula · 17/06/2008 13:33

Hi Ladies, nice new thread! I am having nappy smell issues too. Tink's mum, I am struggling with a monster bin smell too ? my kitchen is really sunny and the heat has added an extra dimension to the smell!

On the subject of symptoms, I am still pretty much free of them but I have got Mount Vesuvius II growing on my chin (next to Mont Blanc II), had a wobbly faint spell yesterday afternoon and kept waking in the night with nausea (at least I think that was what was waking me, I was half asleep.)

I don't think I am even going to attempt to potty train DD who is 12 months now until after the baby is born as I believe that any major life-changing events for her should be tackled well before babes arrives or in deed well after when she settled with her new sibling. Having said that, we need the cot she's in! So I am thinking of transferring her to a toddler bed in a few months. I would be interested to know at what age everyone else move their kids to a 'big' bed?

loopylula · 17/06/2008 13:38

Sorry to hear your news Francesrivis, hope you are hanging in there my dear. Has the bleeding stopped? If so that could be a positive sign for you.

A friend of mine thought she had mc'd but after several scans they concluded she still had a viable pregnancy and that she probably had been carrying twins and lost one.

This may not be the case for you but it goes to show there is hope. I know this is impossible advice to follow but try not to worry yourself sick waiting for you next scan.

Will definitely be thinking about you over the next ten days.

jelliebelly · 17/06/2008 13:39

loopylula - we moved ds1 to a toddler bed at about 2.5yrs and potty trained at the same time - no problems with either. It must be difficult when you have two close together though. The best advice I was given was to wait until he was ready rather than doing it to suit us but I don't suppose that's much use unless your dc is ready when you are

jelliebelly · 17/06/2008 13:40

Francisrivis - fingers crossed for you - hope to see you back on here soon

LuLuBai · 17/06/2008 13:40

Fingers crossed for you Francesrivis x

Loopylula - I hadn't thought about the cot but it is a good point. Hope No2 will be in the moses basket for the first 3 months by which time DD1 will be 2 years old.

But I can't imagine a grown up bed working very well with her. She'd be out of bed the moment I turned my back.

loopylula · 17/06/2008 13:56

I know LuLuBai, mine will be out 'tout suite' too but a friend of mine said that kids tend to regress when a new baby comes along and become very protective over 'their' things so I thought shifting her out of her beloved cot 6 months after DC2 arrives might not go down too well with DD, especially as they will be sharing a room.

I figured if she had her own 'special' bed before DC2 then she would forget the cot was ever hers in the first place, if that makes sense?

McDreamy · 17/06/2008 14:03

Afternoon all, I am also having smell issues! I was convinced the bath water smelled funny on Saturday night!! DH was highly amused, and the kitchen bin oh and I have a box of earl grey tea bags in my cupboard, the smell of them is making me retch! Apart from that feeling ok so far!

Sorry to hear your news francesrivis, what a long 10 days it's going to be for you

jelliebelly · 17/06/2008 14:11

The midwife just called me to make my booking in appointment for next week - it's all starting to feel a bit more real now. I can't remember what they do for the first appointment - is it just weighing/measuring/general chat or is there more to it??

LuLuBai · 17/06/2008 14:16

'beloved cot'

I think my DD sees the cot as some sort of baby torture instrument / isolation chamber. She wants to be in bed with us and if she weren't fenced in that's exactly where we would find her.

francesrivis · 17/06/2008 14:18

Having said I won't be on for a while ... just wanted to ask those of you who are still bfing (if it's not too personal a question!) whether you have noticed fewer changes in your breasts this time round. Mine don't feel any different, and I'm hoping this is because I'm still bfing rather than anything more sinister, or am I just clutching at straws? TIA

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 17/06/2008 14:20

Well I did eat, and still do eat, peanut butter, but not runny eggs (sob - I love dippy eggs) and no pate - there goes my xmas starter! Ho hum! But I guess it's a personal choice!

Feeling queasy, not thrown up though. Was the same last time for me!

Very organised Jelliebelly. I only just registered at the GP this morning (we moved house nearly a year ago.)

And wanted to take DD swimming this afternoon (take the chance while the weather is OK and I can still fit into my swimming cossie) but DD has decided to have an epic nap so I'm just sitting here waiting and browsing my baby name book(OK I ought to be cleaning the house, doing some more laundry, preparing supper etc.)

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 17/06/2008 14:25

Yikes, made that last post not realising we were on two pages already, so I didn?t mean to be ignore everyone latest comments.

Sorry to hear your news Francesrivis.

Loopylula, DS was in his ?big boys bed? (junior bed? by 18 months. He was climbing out of his cot and I felt it was a long way to fall if he slipped!

LuLuBai ? I too should be cleaning, but instead am surfing and MNing!!!

Francesrivis - Fingers crossed for you. I know how hard it is to wait. After 2 mc's and one of them being wrongly diagnosed earlier when everything was ok and then I really did mc 6 weeks later. It is torture. I am currently in the waiting mode. I have to see if this pregnancy is ok. My scans are saying fine for 4 or 5 weeks, but I am supposed to be 6+4 after psoitive test 2 weeks ago. The maths do not add up iykwim

I am worried and hate waiting. Being on here takes my mind off it and makes me feel a little more confident.

Peanut butter is in my opinion savoury and popcorn depends on flavour. Here we have it salted rather than sweet. Still love it though and I think that it is a good substitute for peanuts. I crave the earth smells when pregnant and I dread it. I live the rain, coal, tar and worse of all raw potatoes and mushrooms. Granny Smith apples were my lifesaver. Just the thought is pulling me towards fruit bowl

LuLuBai · 17/06/2008 14:28

Francesrivis - I'm not bf-ing any more but it sounds very plausible that you wouldn't feel any changes as the discomfort is caused by the milk ducts starting to get activated to prepare for milk production. Yours don't need to do that so you wouldn't expect changes.

Think lots of positive thoughts!

Hi Francesrivis

I am still Bfg (just) and havent noticed any real changes in the boobs- have been worried about that too. Last time they were aching bazookas by now.

imaginewittynamehere · 17/06/2008 14:45

Afternoon all, I can't believe how many people there are already on this thread!

I have huge sympathy for those who are struggling with nappy changes, started potty training dd a week ago & she is doing really well but it is all I can do to empty the smelly ones at arms length without retching.

Just starting to feel icky first thing. I can't face anything to eat until about 11:30 & then am ravenous - identical to how I felt with dd - I'm hoping that's all my MS will amount to this time too so fingers crossed. Very sore boobs too but bizarrely more energy than normal - DH thinks I'm nesting already!!

DD too needs to vacated her cot bed (& eventully her room too I think) so we are going to have to do something about it soon. I'm vaguely thinking of getting her some pretty duvet covers etc for her birthday & moving her then.

Really sorry to hear your news Francesrivis hope that it will be good news at the next scan.

Davidsmom · 17/06/2008 14:49

Had a lot of cramps over the weekend and thought I would speak to a GP today rather than wait til appt tomorrow. Had the same last time and thought they would just dismiss it as everything was ok then....obviously not as sent up to early preg unit. Gp phoned ahead and the nearest hospitals earliest appt was Friday- these are early units too- great in a dire emergency!

Finally got to walk into a clinic at a third hosp and everything OK and in the right place. Only one and measured 7 weeks 1 day with a heartbeat . Actually thought I was around 6 1/2 weeks by ovulation date but FF may have got things wrong!

Feeling more pregnant now after seeing the little "Mr Blobby" but few symptoms apart from extreme tiredness.

Perhaps I can stop peeing on sticks now.....? and actually believe I am up the duff!

Davidsmom · 17/06/2008 14:58
