Singingintherain - don't worry just yet...

You are 7+2 based on LMP. BUT if you oved on 19th, that was CD 23. Usually EDD is based on ovulation at CD 14. BUT you oved 9 days later than that.

Therefore, to compare with standard timings, I would personally take 9 days off the LMP dates. So that would put you at six weeks.

And at six weeks, it may well be too early to see anything. And that is what they said you measured anyway!

NoNickname · 18/06/2008 18:39

Another good site to look at is this one:

www.visembryo.com/baby/1.html

It shows you what the embryo/foetus looks like and what sizes it is at different stages of the pregnancy.

The timings are based on days post ovulation. So currently you are 30 days post ov - this stage, 4-6mm

MarkStretch · 18/06/2008 19:03

Ergh, it's interesting but some of those pictures are odd.... I never knew it looked like that!

Jelliebaby · 18/06/2008 19:35

Hi all. Sorry to hear your news CE. Welcome to all the newbies!!!

I've had an awful weekend, i woke up on Sat with a banging headache and felt very very sick. I spent Sat, Sun and Mon in bed being very sick and not eaten or drunk anything in that time. My DP took me to the doctors who sent me straight to hospital and I was on a drip for 2 days.

I'm only 5 and a half weeks which i think is very early to be so sick so they sent me for a scan to check for twins, they unfortunatley couldn't see a HB but say that MAYBE coz its too early so being rescanned next week.

Has anyone else been scanned so early?? I'm really scared now that there will be no HB.

I came out of hospital a couple of hrs ago and have got some anti sickness tablets so feeling better......For now!!!

M2Alyssa · 18/06/2008 19:48

I so so tired in fact off to bed in a minute. So much harder this time. My DD is 21 mths and now back at work full time. Then rush around before and after work with daughter and finding it so hard. At weekends have to catch up with the cleaning. My husband works long hours and so can't really help.

Nightmare!! Will only get worse when the new arrival makes an appearance. At least will have a while off work!!!

No idea with peanuts though I have avoided them in both pregnancies so far but not sure what the advice is.

McDreamy · 18/06/2008 19:52

I have felt so tired and queasy today! Went to bed for 2 hours this afternoon while DH looked after the children - for which I was sooo grateful! Tired again now and about to go to bed! Need more energy!

laidbackinengland · 18/06/2008 20:00

Jellie - I had a scan at 6 + 5 and could see the HB - BUT the sonographer said this isn't always the case and that sometimes you can't see a HB until 7 + weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

Hello again everyone. Can't believe how many of us there are! It's so hard to read all the thread and try to keep up and remember who's who, so I'm not being rude or selfish, just can't keep up!
How do I add myself to the list?

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 20:33

biscuitytrousers I'm surprised they didn't go straight to the internal scan, it's very difficult to see anything on a normal scan this early.

It's like a dildo, they put something like a condom over it and it goes inside, they can see everything really well that way. I had to have them weekly between 20-24 weeks because they wanted to make sure I didn't have IC and the radiographer would just hold it there for awhile because the detail was amazing, we could see everything. She was head down at that point and would stroke her head a lot, we saw her shrug and all sorts! It's called a TV scan (transvaginal). If you can relax they're not that bad!

littleboyblue · 18/06/2008 20:39

Jelliebaby I was scanned on monday as I miscarried about 6 weeks ago so wanted to check if new pg or not. They said I was 5-6 weeks. There was no heartbeat but don't think they can pick it up till about 7 weeks. After 3 m/c I know how hard it is not to worry. Just try and relax and if there not a heartbeat yet doesn't mean that something is wrong. Don't assume the worst until you get symptoms.

oooggs · 18/06/2008 20:59

I was scanned 6 weeks with ds1 - clear hb and scanned 8 weeks with dts - 2 clear hb's

but I know that sometimes they can't find hb til pg is a bit more established

seeing m/w tomorrow - currently off work sick, can hardly stand as bp is so low and I feel dizzy all the time

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 22:19

jellie, i was scanned at 9+4 with dd and she couldn't see a thing on the abdominal scan. had to have an internal scan to even find out she was in there. i wouldn't panic at this stage, baby is only a tiny little thing at this stage and his/her heart only starts beating around the 6 week mark, there are no guarantees about being able to catch that on a scan, it may not even be happening yet! and don't forget the quality of sonnography machines and their operators varies greatly from hospital to hospital aswell.

dd only has 2 days of playschool left and then i'm stuck at home with 2 toddlers and no car til sept 1st am dreading it already..... guess we'll be doing lots of long country walks and birdwatching expeditions!

laidbackinengland · 18/06/2008 22:23

yes PT - I had my private scan at a local sonographers house and she has a very new scanner (much newer than the one she has to use in her NHS practice)- hence her picking up the HB at 6 weeks on a screen scan.

DS2 finishes kindergarten in 2 weeks too...I think a trip to grandma and grandads for a week might be brewing .

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 22:35

god, going to my parents is worse than staying home

think i'll be landing on lots of doorsteps for coffee and a chat!

laidbackinengland · 18/06/2008 22:42

PT I mean...sending DS2 on his own [evilmotheremoticon] !!

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 22:51

Mum guessed tonight that I'm pregnant - all I said was I fancied going to Harvester for their honey and mustard sauce when we go out tomorrow (I'm not craving it, although if you'd have seen how much I had at the weekend lol) and she just asked outright. I'd planned on telling her face to face (should have been tonight but she couldn't come over tonight so I was going to tell her tomorrow). She was better about it than I expected (I'm sure I'm 27 and in a long term relationship ) but maybe that was a "what's done's done" thing. Last time she asked TBD if he knew what to do with two bricks lol.

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 23:01

TM... you sound like me. i didn't tell my parents til 22 weeks last time as i couldn't be doing with all the eye rolling and snippy 'well it's your life your ruining' comments til i'd gotten the all clear from the scan. and he was my second, and i'm in a long term commited relationship guess some of us never grow up in our parents eyes!

laidback..... not sure whther my mother or my dcs would be more traumatised...... might give it a go though

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 23:16

We have things that need to be sorted out, but we cope and I don't think it will be that much harder with an extra one. My brother has five and before we knew about #5 she said she wouldn't be happy if they got pregnant again but would be angry if I did! I was so cross because whatever happens between us we are self-sufficient, we're not palming Tink off every weekend (Mum has at least one child, up to three at a weekend, the others go to her dad and friends houses) my nephew thinks Mum is his mum! We don't smoke or drink or sell our belongings because we spent all our money on Bingo/hair/fags/weed before we paid for food. We're not well off, but we get by and make sure Tink has what she needs. Mum once said they have their treats and we have ours. We have a WoW account each (£10 a month each) and the net is £5 on top of the phone bill, so we spend £12.50 a month - £3 a week.

Bah, I'll shut up now cause I could rant all night on this one!

PinkTulips · 18/06/2008 23:26

i know how you feel.

my parents are 20 mins up the road from us. since we've moved here last year we've had them babysit 3 times, one of them was my birthday when they offered.

we take no money from them, my kids are well cared for and happy, we go without ourselves if the kids need something which is more than my parents could ever say. yet i'm still treated like a failure.... they're the ones in their 50's with a failing business about to lose their house because of bad decisions they made..... but i'm the screw up who's wasting my life having kids

grr..... bet i could out rant you but i'll behave myself

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 23:39

We'll have to get together and try!

louisebunny · 19/06/2008 07:39

Hi, just a quick update from me, I went for my scan yesterday that the gyno booked me for - only to be told that the sonographer refused to see me because I was only 5wks 3days.... You could wonder why I was booked in in the first place...

Anyway, had blood taken and having more taken on Friday so will know a little more by Saturday. Scan rebooked for next wednesday as I'll be over 6 wks then.

Grrr! They don't make it easy!

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 09:48

Morning everyone. I've been reading this months pregnancy & birth mag and there's a page in there about predicting babies sex and what a load of rubbish it mostly all is. However, there's this chinese conception chart that is apparently quite accurate, you match up your chinese age with the month of conception and it tells you what you'll have. It says I'm having a girl. We'll see!

LuLuBai · 19/06/2008 10:19

The Chinese calculator kept on telling me I was having a boy (as did everyone I knew). I kept on thinking what rubbish cos I was always sure I was having a girl. And I did!

Strangely last time I really didn't mind what I had, I just always felt that the baby was a girl and the moment the right girls' name occurred to me it stuck in my mind while we were still dithering over boys' names.

This time I really really want another girl and I think that may be clouding my judgement. I just can't help it. I keep thinking about it. I think maybe I ought to find out the gender this time so that I don't feel disappointment at the birth if it is a boy(is that very wrong)

P.S. - the Chinese Calculator is saying 'boy' again this time

PinkTulips · 19/06/2008 10:44

that chinese thing seems to work by telling me the opposite to what i'll actually have

it told me dd would be a boy and ds would be a grirl but i was convinced both times what i was having... to the point that i was buying gender specific clothes for them wthout having any confirmation from the scan

i'm so going to be completely wrong this time as i've gotton cocky about my predicting ability!

lulubai, trust me, once you have a boy you'll wonder why you were ever keen on girls i love dd but am so not keen on girly whinging and stroppiness, ds is a piece of cake in comparison!
