Thanx PT Ds weighed 9lbs 10oz and was 6 days over. I'm being a bit better, gonna try giving up again tomorrow.
I did really well for about a week, but now that I believe I'm out of the woods, it's hard.
Not gonna put any pressure on myself or beat myself up too much.
Will only have myself to blame if this baby suffers in some way. Luckily ds has no problems whatsoever

PinkTulips · 04/07/2008 22:21

i find i'm fine when i'm on my own but as soon as i'm with other smokers i get tempted.

teach yourself to play with the fag instead of smoking it, and to only take the smoke into your mouth but not inhale. sounds silly but it means if you slip up it's doing alot less harm to baby but your brain still seems to think it's had a fag so you're not crippled with cravings as well as guilt.

i know it's probably hard for non-smokers to 'get' how tough it is.

worst thing is i'd only started buying fags again 2 months ago!

good luck, try and busy yourself with something whenever you find yourself at a loose end and craving one, you can often get the craving to fade if you can just get your mind off it, play with ds, do some pointless job, watch tv, read... anything at all to get your mind to stop obsessing about nicotene

Clarabumps · 04/07/2008 22:22

happy birthday markstretch! hip hip!
what has everyone been up to this fine evening?

littleboyblue · 04/07/2008 22:23

You're right PT, will give it a go.

LittleSarah · 04/07/2008 22:42

Congrats rosieposey - mine is kind of Grecian too! A friend's mum is making it, got a kind of fitting on Sunday. So far I haven't really put on weight - although I've stopped losing! - so not too worried but obviously slightly worried how I'll be in 2 months! It's quite floaty so hopefully it will stretch but who knows...?? Well, in two months I can tell you!

Laidbackinengland! Why doesn't she want you to get pregnant? Are you a bridesmaid?? A friend of mine has a wedding in a couple of weeks she is a bridesmaid for, for a bit she thought she might be pregnant and thought it made a perfect excuse for not fitting into her dress!

I am tired. However I've managed to get out of bed and stay out of it until the evening this week which is PROGRESS people!

LittleSarah · 04/07/2008 22:43

Good god, how many fecking exclamation marks do I need?

I'm imposing a ban on myself, no more than one a paragraph. It's over.

laidbackinengland · 04/07/2008 23:38

LittleSarah - I think her reasons are complex. She wants there to be people there who will have a drink and be merry ! It's a small wedding and of her closest 5 female friends 4 of us are pregnant ! She has 'issues' about whether or not she wants her own kids .... and I think it is hard for her to be around lots of pregnant women as the issue is very much in her face IYSWIM. I'm sure she won't mind really - she is a good friend . I'm not a bridesmaid per se as it's not a traditional wedding - but I am 'best woman' and will be doing an after dinner speech.

Littleboy blue - have you ever tried earth impact herbal tobacco ? When I gave up 3 years ago (20 a day habit) I sometimes just needed to smoke something. I found this herbal stuff tolerable and it really helped me make the transition.

PinkTulips · 04/07/2008 23:51

laidback, where did you get the herbal stuff?

all fine here, but feeling sicker than other times. maybe it's a boy! (have 2 dds). or twins! there are three sets of twins in my family, including my dad, who is a twin. if i get twins i'll have to put one of them on ebay.

A master of disguise. (Just like Robbie Rotten.)

WarmFuzzy · 05/07/2008 09:37

Drat! Rumbled! You ain't seen me!

laidbackinengland · 05/07/2008 09:48

PinkT - I got it from a health food shop - but you can also buy from some tobacconists. Sadly it's not like having a cigarette - but it does give you something to smoke that tastes reasonable.

TennantbellesMum · 05/07/2008 10:31

Tink has gone to Nanny's for the weekend and Daddy has gone to London for the weekend, so I'm all alone!

TBD has left me instructions not to do too much, I'm only allowed to get the washing through (because we're desperate). So I'm cleaning some clothes for me to wear today then getting a train to Lichfield for the Medieval faire (and apparently there's a maternity shop not far from there) and a nice day to myself! Not forgetting home in time for Dr Who!

onwardandupward · 05/07/2008 10:56

Getting larger? You'd better believe it. I'm 9 weeks today and I've been in maternity trousers for a fortnight and size 16 (instead of 10/12) skirts for more like 3 weeks. Gotta love charity shops. I'm now wearing those skirts with buttons undone. I've put on more than 1/2 a stone already, but it's more the shape changing and the refusal to tolerate anything tight around my middle (anyone else gone into huge granny knickers yet? Just me, yes?).

either this is twins or it's a severe case of second child itis. First scan not for another month, so we'll just have to wait and see...

PinkTulips · 05/07/2008 16:24

lo all.

not feeling too bad today, had to do the shopping in tescos with 2 grumpy toddlers and a very grumpy dp in tow but was worth it as got loads of food for not too much money (tescos is 45 mins away so not a regular trip unfortunately)

stopped and had icecream on the way home as the kids were asleep (cows milk intolerant both of them so can't eat ice cream in front of them)

went to next but they only had one pair of mat jeans and none in my size so couldn't even get an idea of sizes to internet shop was really excited about getting them too have anight out next week and have no nice clothes to fit me..... sob!

enjoy your nice quiet weekend tink.... sounds divine

swampster · 05/07/2008 19:31

PT - Next mat jeans are great - but they come up BIG!

rosieposey · 05/07/2008 22:18

rosieposey · 05/07/2008 22:19

TennantbellesMum · 06/07/2008 00:00

ASDA do nice maternity clothes and similar prices to the rest of their clothes. Best things about maternity clothes is they're usually generous so you can drop a size!

rosieposey · 06/07/2008 09:36

Ohh now that i could do with! lol

TennantbellesMum · 06/07/2008 09:41

I know, I love my size 14 maternity clothes that I wear when I'm not pregnant just because they're 14

McDreamy · 06/07/2008 10:13

Oooh Asda have started doing maternity - fab! I will be putting Asda on my list of shops to visit in the UK then

It's so bloody hot here which is shite when your feeling sick (not that I am saying I am worse of than you guys ) Really hoping it will ease off soon, I am a crap mum and wife at the moment and it's geting me down a bit

Hoping I might get a scan this week so that might buck me up

TennantbellesMum · 06/07/2008 11:33

They've been doing them 3 years that I know of.

francesrivis · 06/07/2008 11:45

Hello all. Good to hear ASDA has started doing maternity clothes - I really struggled to find any cheap stuff last time round.

Feeling a bit rubbish this weekend (sorry, TMI coming up .....) - horribly bloated, stomach churning and diarrhoea. Have been feeling sick on and off for a while but nothing like this. D'you reckon this is just the joys of pregnancy or could it be a bug/food poisoning? Can't help worrying that if it's the latter it could harm the baby.
