herbgarden · 04/07/2008 13:06

Ooh I'm going over - I did do a search for it to see if there was a thread and couldn't believe it didn't throw anything up ?!

Oh yes, also forgot to say that I had a glass of fizzy wine on Wed night (wild) - didn't enjoy it that much really so quite glad - just like last time. But I think all things in moderation and a glass or two won't harm anyone. I bet those french ladies still indulge in moderation.

littleboyblue · 04/07/2008 13:48

Glad I'm not the only one then that has caved to the drinking!
Obviously it's not gonna do any harm, I drank with ds (a glass or 2 a week) and he's fine, but I feel really guilty about it, even more so than when I've been weak and had a fag.
Now, I was really bad and continued to smoke with ds, but was unable to relate being pregnant with having a baby or that that thing kicking me was actually a little person. No excuse, I know but now it's a bit more real, but I feel guiltier drinking than smoking although the smoking will do more harm.
Is everyone gonna ignore me now for being a selfish scumbag?

McDreamy · 04/07/2008 13:50

Oh please make the sickness go away!!!!

We're out to a dining in night tonight (as long as DH's flight isn't delayed). I am thnking of having a sneaky glass of the white stuff Just tried my dress on and thankfully it fits which is bloddy good as I have nothing else appropriate to wear!!!!

Hope everyone else is ok and taking it easy

america · 04/07/2008 14:06

Thank you PinkTulips. My son is 14 months and beginning to spend more and more time on the floor kicking and screaming for no obvious reason (well, normally a direct result of me saying no to something he really wants to do)...great when feeling sick to start with. My first pregnancy went smoothly until nearly the end so I wasn't prepared to this at all.

McDreamy · 04/07/2008 14:16

So are you ladies telling yet or still keepig it a secret? I am thinking of spilling

dinkystinky · 04/07/2008 14:23

Am keeping quiet until have had a scan (as apart from wonky boobs and tiredness and spots am not having any pregnancy symptoms) though have told my husband, MIL, parents, personal trainer and pilates teacher (the last two so they know what exercises I cant do). Have also had to tell one of my bosses at work as I currently share an office with a girl who miscarried twins earlier this year - she's still (understandably) having a massively hard time and I really dont think it would be right for her to be forced to share a room with someone who is pregnant

littleboyblue · 04/07/2008 14:25

Dinky, your poor co-worker. She wouldn't wish any harm to you or yours though.

fruitstick · 04/07/2008 14:40

I think drinking is fine in pregnancy. Honestly, it's hard enough to cope with the lousiness, the knowledge that you're going to be knackered for months, the carrying a bowling ball and then trying to get the little blighter out. If you can't enjoy a glass of wine now again it would be unbearable.

I was no health nut before I got pregnant so I'm certainly not going to be drinking nothing but nettle tea and eating pumpkin seeds for the next 9 months.

Stress and exhaustion are just as much a cause for concern as diet in pregnancy and if a glass of wine or a bottle of beer helps, then what's the problem.

Jelliebaby · 04/07/2008 14:41

I have told most of my friends as they are all wondering why i've been in bed sick for 3 weeks, i've also had to tell work for same reason.

I think if i hadn't of been so ill i would of kept quiet until 12 wks.

Would love a glass of wine but struggling to even keep water down at the moment so guess it wouldn't be a good idea

dinkystinky · 04/07/2008 15:05

I know that my room-mate at work wouldnt wish any harm to me or mine - its just I see everyday what she is going through and what a massive struggle life is for her at the moment, and (from having to comfort her) I know how hard she finds it to deal with her friends announcing they are pregnant, and really think that having to go to work to share a room with someone who is pregnant everyday would be too much for her to bear.

Guitargirl · 04/07/2008 15:22

I had a my booking in appointment with the midwife this morning. Took DD with me. Midwife was 30 minutes late arriving at the surgery and she had a male student midwife with her who DD seemed to be really scared of as every time she looked at him she burst into tears - proper tears not just whingey, get me out of the buggy ones. I had to have her on my lap for the entire 1 hour appointment whilst the midwife talked to me about pate and seafood and also had to take DD (and buggy) with me to give my urine sample where the buggy wouldn't fit in the toilet so I had to pee with the door half open, praying no-one would else needed the (one and only) loo. Very dignified.

Anyway, done now. I have some blood in my urine (not visible to the naked eye but showed up on the dip test) which may be a sign of an infection. Am symptomless though so she just told me to drink plenty of water.

Am trying to wait until after the scan to spill the beans although to be honest I'll be surprised if more people don't guess - none of trousers fit anymore...

Hi, I've been lurking for a while but feel ready to be out and proud now! It's taken me this long to get over the shock of expecting dc2 after about 7 years of ttc. Dh's going to get a big surprise this evening! Wish me luck.

LittleSarah · 04/07/2008 16:31

Great news pluto!

Guitargirl - I had the blood in the urine thing too but the tests came back and said nothing present so no idea what it was! Oh well.

I haven't had any wine for ages as have been too sick, I think once I shake the sickness off I'll have a glass now and then.

I'm actually hoping to keep the wee one secret until after my wedding (on the 5th Sept) when I'll be about 20 weeks! Yes, I know, highly unlikely but I'm giving it a shot!

onwardandupward · 04/07/2008 16:40

Edited because for some completely weird reason I appear to have added three years to my age. Why would I do that? (oh lord, here comes pregna-brain)

Congrats Pluto - bet your hubby falls off his chair in surprise! (make sure he is sitting down) - LittleSarah, Im getting married too, Nov 15th and id love to keep it a secret but i think i might be unable to by 26 weeks - have just bought a grecian/empire line wedding dress today which i hope fits on the day ah well we shall see, if my boobs keep going like this nothing will fit! Well its Friday night and i really feel like im fit for nothing but an early night ... cant wait till this bit is over and im not permaknackered

laidbackinengland · 04/07/2008 17:27

WoW pluto ! Fantastic news. I have a 7 year gap between DS1 and DS2 and it's great. Let us know how your DH reacts !

Rosie and Littlesarah - how nice that you are getting married ... I am off to one of my best friends weddings at the end of September. She phoned me about a month ago and said 'please don't get pregnant before my wedding because everyone else is....". Cue pregnancy test and BFP...haven't had the heart to tell her yet !?!

rosieposey · 04/07/2008 17:57

Lol and im sure she was relying on you to get sqiffy at her wedding being as everyone else was pregnant Laidbackinengland. We had this wedding planned for a while and my attitude was oh well if i get pregnant ill just buy a bigger dress but Im on the big side anyway and it takes me a while longer to show than all you slim girlies so im hoping that the style of the dress doesnt give too much away! Just a quick question ... is anyone else getting period pains (as if your going to get your bf? ) as ive had them all afternoon and i wish they'd go away

Pluto - how lovely that you've got pg after a 7 year gap - your dh might get a big shock eh?

Rosieposey - haven't had period pains but dull aching on some days feeling a bit like stretching (which is what I suspect it is)...are you worried ? Sounds like you are - see how it goes and maybe phone NHS direct if it starts to bother you a bit more later??.....

Half an hour to go til Criminal Justice wonder if I can stay awake - have it ready on sky+ just in case !

hi folks. Is anyone else the size of a house yet?i am H U G E!!!! its awful! i want to lie down and eat chips to make myself feel better. how much weight do you put on if you're having twins?( i dont know if i am but its the only way i can explain the massive weight gain!)eeekkkkkkkkkkkk

littleboyblue · 04/07/2008 20:51

I couldn't get into my jeans this morning.
Figured out this ms stuff. I feel sick if my waistband is around my tum but not sick if it isn't
Have also gone completely off meat. That gonna be tough as I don't like veg, not much ele to eat. I'm filling up on crap which is why I'm putting lots of weight on. Not sure what to do about this food thing.......

Clarabumps · 04/07/2008 21:02

i'm trying to avoid it at all costs. I feel sick when i think of eating. I honestly have went up a dress size. I'm only 8 weeks.. waahh i cant face getting fat again..i've only just got my figure back!POoP!

wow pluto, make sure he has a glass of something strong to hand for the shock! well done and massive congratulation

llb, don't beat yourself up, i didn't get through either of my other pregs without a fag either. with dd i found it very hard as dp was still smoking in the house and like you i simply couldn't make my brain understand that there was a baby in there. with ds i was better as dd was still quite little so never had the chance to sneak out for one but i still slipped up.

both babies were a perfectly good weight, and have no other issues. i really don't think a fag every now and again is going to do any damage as long as it isn't any more than that. like drink it's long term use that does damage, not the odd one here and there.

am shopping for maternity pants thins weekend as the only pair of pants i have to wear badly need a wash put them in the laundry yesterday and had to drag them back out to bring dd to school as i realised i had nothing else to wear!

I'M SO TIRED appears to be my catchphrase at the moment.

Had a fun filled day of birthday celebrations and just got back from the cinema with dd and dsd. Birthday party tomorrow.

Pinktulips are you 10 weeks? I think we are due the same day. I am definately starting to look pregnant. I do not fit into any of my jeans and I am resorting to hairbands on my button.

It's weird but I seem to have completely changed shape.

PinkTulips · 04/07/2008 21:54

i'm 9 weeks i think confused now! due on the 4th but hoping to go early again

have a very definite bump, dp and my friend are having great fun joking about twins, am going to ask the gp next week and see will she take pity on me and scan!
