dinkystinky · 07/07/2008 15:41

Any one else's hospital lost the GP referral letter (or more likely the useless GP forgot to send it) or is it just me? Was getting abit concerned as saw GP 2 weeks ago and within 2 weeks of seeing GP when pregnant with DS I had got my booking in letter so I called the antenatal services at St Marys to find out if I should be worried only to find out they've never heard of me . Glad am not a first timer or would have been blissfully waiting for my booking in appointment for ooh, around another 7 months...

SaveFerris · 07/07/2008 16:47

Can I join you?

Me: 28, DH 33. Edd: 15/02/09

3rd dc. Other 2: DD aged 5 and DS aged 3.

Hope everyone is ok - I am feeling majorly shite most the time, boobs gone up a cup size and a bit already to 32dd+, didn't have any symptoms like this the last 2 times so I guess I can't complain!

Possibly prematurely, but I will have to get rid of my beloved Mini Cooper as I deffo won't get 3 dc's in it - so doing the 'which cars fit 3 car seats' search!!

x
(ps. in a former life was mum2ela)

Neeerly3 · 07/07/2008 16:53

hi saveferris! a friend of mine had a mini cooper and 3 dc's. She used it as her run around, but they had the big family car if they all went away/out together.

I am feeling 100% rubbish still, have been on the ferge of up chucking all day, but avoided it so far. DH is cooking jacket spuds and beans and coleslaw for tea - think I will be able to face it. I'm ok while i eat, but the second i stop i feel sick again.

The days are dragging and i am already showing. the few people that know at work keep whispering "suck it in" and i keep saying "i AM!".

We need a bigger family car - we currenly have a Toyota Starlet that hubby uses to and from work and I use the Peugeot 206 SW (estate 206)....but with no. 3 on way, we can't get all 5 of us in the PUG, so we need to upsize - any ideas people?

MissMitford · 07/07/2008 16:56

Hello everyone - dumb question... at what point should we start thinking about organising childcare? This is my first and I'll have to go back to work after 4/5 months I should think.

Realise that it's slightly nuts to be thinking about childcare when am only 10 weeks, but have no clue about when you need to start contacting childminders/nurseries etc. We're in London N16, so lots of good places I think, but also waiting lists I think...

laidbackinengland · 07/07/2008 17:01

MissMitford - It might sound crazy but you probably need to start looking now ...My SIL lives in London and she had their Ds's on waiting lists before she had given birth as she needed to go back when they were 3 months.

Welcome Saveferris ...Unfortunately bigger family = uncool car I am having to look at 9 seaters at the moment and find myself rolling my eyes whilst trying to convince myself that a minibus is a good look for a trendy 30 something mum. My solution will be to fling a couple of surfboards on the top and pretend it's some sort of campervan....but in essence it will be more like a minibus

Neerly - I am looking at a VW Transporter or Ford Tourneo.

TennantbellesMum · 07/07/2008 17:11

You can get converters for the backseat of a car so you can put four children in the back instead of 3. The news programme that showed it put it into a Fiesta to show it even works with smaller cars.

jamescagney · 07/07/2008 17:11

can I join ? due Feb 09 and like dinky stinky think that antenatal services may have forgotten about me! This will be my 2nd can't wait for scan to know EDD

laidbackinengland · 07/07/2008 17:13

Do you knwo what programme it was on TBM ? I will have to get a bigger car - but my mum might be interested in the convertor for when she has them ?

Welcome James cagney - if you cut and paste the last list of us on here - you can add yourself to the list.

dinkystinky · 07/07/2008 17:17

Hi MissMitford - I guess you first need to figure out how long you're going to take for maternity leave - 6 months or less, whole year, go back to work full time or part time - and then you know what you're going to need for childcare options. You really should start researching nurseries and childminders now in London if you're going down that route as the really good ones always have a bit of a waiting list. With my DS I ended up getting a live out nanny - v expensive but I start rather early in the morning and nurseries just didnt open early enough for me (and couldnt find a local childminder I really liked). There are cheaper options - .e.g live in nanny, ex au-pair - so pays to do a bit of research into what you feel you want/need as far in advance as you can bear.

MissMitford · 07/07/2008 17:23

eeeek

thanks dinkystinky and laidbackinengland

It feels weird to be thinking about childcare when all I currently have to show is a vomiting habit and aversion to garlic...

laidbackinengland · 07/07/2008 17:25

It's frightening isn't it ! Mind you my DSIL is uber organised and also had the boys down on a prep school waiting list from about 12 months !

TennantbellesMum · 07/07/2008 17:27

It was either Cenral News or Midlands Today. They're not cheap, but compared to the price of exchanging a Fiesta to a 7 seater they're a lot cheaper!

Jelliebaby · 07/07/2008 17:49

Hi all

Ive been moaning for the last 3 weeks about my severe MS, it seems to have eased off now and guess what??? I am now scared something had happened. I know i'm being silly but can't help it, i'm going insane.

I have also felt movement (I think) I am 8+3 wks and for the last wk i have felt flutters down below, my mum and DP have said i'm mad and there is no way i can have felt anything. Anyway i haven't felt anything for the last day and with my eased sickness i'm now worrying to death.

Can anyone reassure me or i am just being v silly???

LittleMissNorty · 07/07/2008 17:59

Guitargirl · 07/07/2008 18:05

MissMitford - we are also in N16!

There are loads of things going on for children round and about. We have a childminder for DD 3 mornings a week. When she was about 3 or 4 months old we asked Hackney council for a list, they have a list of all currently registered childcare providers - childminders, nurseries, play groups, etc. with up-to-date vacancies. I called about 25-30 childminders and of those we went to see 5, we chose our current CM who we are really happy with and lives in N5. I went back to work when DD was 8 months. From DD's antenatal group, one other baby goes to a childminder, one has a nanny and the others go to nursery.

LuLuBai · 07/07/2008 18:59

Hello all. I'm afraid I'm going to have to come off this list. Spotting last week turned to heavy bleeding and an afternoon at the EPU today confirmed what I really already knew. Nothing in there any more.

I'm OK with it now, after the initial shock.

I've got myself a large glass of wine and some particularly stinky unpasteurised cheese and I'm thinking of 'un-pregnant' things (horse-riding? Scuba-diving?) I can do over the next couple of months before I pounce on poor long-suffering DH and try to get myself onto a summer '09 antenatal thread.

Hope you all get over the morning sickness soon and start to enjoy your pregnancies. Best of luck to you all and hope to see you elsewhere around MN.

x

MarkStretch · 07/07/2008 19:04

LuLuBai I'm so sorry

Good luck for the future though.

oooggs · 07/07/2008 19:24

lulubai - I'm sorry - enjoy the non pregnancy stuff and jump right back on

oooggs · 07/07/2008 19:30

We fit in our picasso very well, have had all combinations of car seats,

1x 9mths-4yrs & 2x rear facing

2x rear facing & 1 4+ high backed

1x rear facing, 1x 9mths-4yrs & 1 4+ high backed

Now 2x 9mths-4yrs & 1x 4+ highbacked booster

but........ will need a 7 seater have been looking at the c8 & 807 (as like the sliding door) and Galaxy as dh says they are cheaper

laidbackinengland · 07/07/2008 19:31

Sorry to hear that Lulubai... Good luck with conceiving again and opefully you can give birth just before a nice warm lovely English summer !

MarkStretch · 07/07/2008 19:57

Hi All

Still knackered here and DD is unwell and has been vomiting - clearing that up made me feel unwell!

At least I get to stay at home with her tomorrow and we can both have a rest.

pluto · 07/07/2008 19:59

Well - that was one to remember. Finally found the right moment to break the news to dh that he's going to a father again. A lot of OMGs but smiling as well. Poor guy, he'll be drawing a pension when this one leaves home

LittleSarah · 07/07/2008 20:17

Oh, so sorry lulubai!

dinkystinky - I didn't get referred very quickly either and when I phoned found out my doc hadn't sent my referral to midwives. I'd give them a wee call and just ask what's happening.

Feeling better, but still sick, usually mid afternoon/eve...

Laidbackinengland - I see your friend's problem. At my wedding everyone will be drinking but me! Okay, I may manage a glass or two of champagne...

Oh, my ma knows I'm pregnant, she worked it out. She said my face was looking hormonal. WTF??

TummyTrouble · 07/07/2008 20:22

I have an ancient 2 door Saab, worth less than a £1000. Brilliant car, built like a tank and 3 over the shoulder belts in the back seat and no air bag in the front - you can even get a bike in the boot (well with the back seat down!)

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 07/07/2008 20:45

Sorry to read your sad news LuLuBai, hope to see you around on MN!

Hello to all the newbies, and esp congrats to Pluto and your shocked DH.

It seems a lot of us are in the same boat

  • DS has been over-dosing on tv
  • I?m not tee-total (odd one here and there)
  • My belly is bulging (at nine weeks)

Re. mat wear - I put on my mat pj bottoms when at home as squeezing into normal clothes during the day when I go out makes my tummy ache. But I really don?t want to break out the full mat wear though ? anyone else feel the same? Perhaps it?s the worry about not being 12 weeks yet!? But I have DH works ?do? this Fri, and my normal clothes are far too tight around my bulging belly, trousers undone but covered by t-shirt. It is really obvious to me and I am getting self-conscious about the tight fitting clothes, so do I do it, do I break out the mat wear for the party?
