Thanks ladies

Ellie: I got pains like that last week too and they stopped. I was told they are completely normal, sort of false labour pains as the body prepares itself for the real birth. As long as the baby is kicking and there is no blood or anything it should be fine. Check with your MW if in doubt.

Surprisingly I'm not that nervous about the birth which is weird. I think it might be because I have no concept of what 'real pain' is and every time I think about the birth I get so excited about meeting my DD!

Right, is there anything I can do to help stop these swlling pains?

iPod mix:

or, for a c-section...

Mollyfloss, I've swollen up a bit too but luckily(?) it's just my feet and snkles that hurt in the evenings. I find that getting DH to rub them helps. My fingers aren't too bad, I've had to take my rings off though. I don't know about the sweeling pains in fingers, could you try to keep your hands up rather than dangling down all the time, it might stop them swelling quite as much?

Denny, I've been told there's no way they'll let me try for normal birth if he doesn't turn. It's not an option! I just have my fingers crossed now that the ECV works, I know it might/probably won't, but we have no money to go for reflexology or anything else at the moment. I've resigned myself to having to wait and see, and actually feel better about poss having to have a section after speaking to you on Monday. Thanks! x

I need to finish my birth plan, but I keep putting it off because there are so many 'might happens' at the moment.

LOL at PAL

Worries aside, the midwife was really great last night, sounds like they really listen to everything you want - have CD players and Ipod stations and birthing pool if I want (and is free) and can wander around and give birth in whatever position I want to and have whatever pain relief I want

Carey87 · 13/03/2008 10:36

i was thinking about bob marley - everything gonna be alrite

and a soppy one - elvis - cant help falling in love

EllieG · 13/03/2008 10:39

Am taking Jack Johnson, Jose Gonsalves, and some other nice calming music

sagitta · 13/03/2008 10:40

Has anyone with an end-of-the-month due date packed their hospital bag yet? Should I start thinking about this at all?

EllieG · 13/03/2008 10:40

Jack Johnson cos me and DP used to listen to 'Better together' in the early days of loved-upness and soppy thoughts might distract me from horrid painful ones

sagitta · 13/03/2008 10:41

We lost everything we had on our Ipod last weekend - nearly 6,000 songs. It crashed and died and wasn't backed up. So I guess it'll be the radio for me...

Carey87 · 13/03/2008 10:44

oh no sagitta, I know how annoying that is

EllieG · 13/03/2008 10:47

Oh poo sagitta that's rubbish

ToastAddict · 13/03/2008 10:50

Hot Cross Bun, anyone?

ToastAddict · 13/03/2008 10:54

Here you go Elie
Oh, and have a nice cup of tea to go with it

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 10:56

DS was born to Al Green - Tired of being alone, it really makes sense now as well as his birth changed my life dramatically, if he hadn't been born I never would have got the strength together to leave my abusive XP.
I hope this one has a song as meaningful.
Peachy-How are we gonna know if you have the baby??? Shall I text you my number so we can find out?

KnitterInTheNW · 13/03/2008 10:59

I'd rather have the radio on anyway, the only time I listen to CDs is in the car and even then it's normally radio. I prefer the random banter between random songs, and there's always a station to suit my mood!

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 11:00

PortandLemon thats horrificly funny. I am glad you aren't doing MY music anyways.
I have some ministry of sound chill out cd's from a few years ago. Some great tracks on there. Decided to go with 'sounds'/instrumental type things rather than my favourite artists. Somehow I don't think wanting to sing along and birth really go together!

Pant push pant Working 9 to 5 push pant What a way to make a SCREAM pant living ARGH

??

Oh Bun for me please!

ToastAddict · 13/03/2008 11:03

Here you go PFJ....... goes with your Easter theme of mini-eggs!

sagitta · 13/03/2008 11:05

ooh, carey, I am going to have to have a cheese and ham croissant now.

Wish I could do some work. So much to do, so little inclination to do it.

ToastAddict · 13/03/2008 11:10

God, I feel like I am back at work

DH and I had an antenatal class yesterday, basically covering pain relief. He missed last week's as he had a cold and didn't want to infect a load of pg women (his excuse anyway. I think he was worried he would pass out during the videos. Which he probaby would have)

Anyway, he is now a bit more "in gear" with the whole birth thing (we have both been sticking our heads in the sand about it, tbh. Denial .....) and wants me to come up with a Birth Plan so he knows exactly what I do and don't want. And a list of everything that's going in the hospital bag amd what it's for. Which is all well and good, but I just can't be arsed

Ho hum
So, as with work, I have the relevant documents open on the screen, occasionally type something, but mostly look at MN and other sites

Hi all! Sagitta - I haven´t packed mine yet am thinking of doing it during the hols. I feel really funny today - not nauseous just light-headed & "not right" if you know what I mean. I've had periody type pains for the last couple of weeks now and I´m only 33 wks.
