PFJ, tell him from me he is being an arse!
for you!

moominsmummy · 12/03/2008 17:50

oh PFJ don't worry - (((((hugs)))))

I was really moody with DH first PG and had loads of rows - I told him to move out at one point when I had totally lost my temper with him - (well he DID wipe the kitchen worktop with a tea towel _ I mean FFS that's not what a tea towel is for!! I didn't think it was unreasonable to suggest a marital separation for that - fortunately he hid his sniggering face as he knew I would probably stab him if I had seen him laughing)

This time DH knows to be more sensitive and NOT to argue - pity your DP hasn't learnt this yet

moominsmummy · 12/03/2008 17:53

Carey - lol at your DPs anticipated comments! don't worry the antenatal classes are quite informative and they don't usually expect you to say or do anything if you don't want to _ (think it's mostly America where they get you to practise moo-ing etc!)

Crikey scorpio - your labours are getting v fast - will you have to wear skirts and no knickers in the last few weeks of PG just in case you don't have time to get trousers and knickers off??

scorpio1 · 12/03/2008 17:56

lol I'm sure DH would love that!!

Fatty yoga has been cancelled tonight, teacher ill. hummmphh.

bashboid · 12/03/2008 18:17

PFJ, tell your DP to sod off - he may have a bad back but that's nothing compared to all the woes of being pregnant!

Carey, I just finished my ante-natal classes last week. They were NHS hospital run ones amd I don't know if private ones (not sure what type you are doing) are any different but we didn't have to do anything too interactive. They mainly involved info on pain relief and what to expect in labour, watching a video of the birth experience (which DP watched enthralled and then commented at the end "well, that didn't look too bad!" - easy for him to say!) and a trip round the labour and post natal wards which really put my mind at rest as it all looked much nicer and cleaner than I was expecting - heard terrible things about Lewisham hospital but am trying to keep an open mind. The only interactive thing we had to do was have a go at breastfeeding a doll but no need to panic, we didn't have to whip our boobs out to do that .

KnitterInTheNW · 12/03/2008 18:20

I'm back, eventually! Traffic was horrendous because of the viaduct being closed to HGVs, so they were all sauntering through Warrington and clogging the roads up.

Little tinker is breech, with his head digging under the ribs on my right side. That's sore. I'm going in next Tues for an ECV (External cephalic version). Apparently there's a risk that it'll make me bleed, and a very tiny risk that it'll make the baby distressed and if that happens, it'll be an emergency c/s. Do any of you know anyone who's had this done?

scorpio1 · 12/03/2008 18:21

no, i don't knitter. Sounds a bit scary though. Have you tried that moxibustion thing i told you about? Worth a shot?

bashboid · 12/03/2008 18:31

Sorry, knitter, don't know much about that as a fellow first timer. Good luck with it though!

I'm having a go at updating the list to put myself back on it (fingers crossed I don't muck it up completely). I've also updated NEM's DD details.

ThePFJ · 12/03/2008 18:40

Thanks bashboid that looks lovely. Hugs to everyone especially chipmonkey.
I went back downstairs with a 'I am not looking at you in a determined way' face and started doing the kitchen icily. He trotted out after me and begged forgiveness and then actually HELPED me clean. o.O
I tell you though, all these stupid arguments over nothing are wearing me thin. I think sometimes I am unreasonable, when I tell him to just F* off and leave me.. like moomin said its so easy to get carried away.
Its so stressful sometimes.. this baby baking business isn't it?
Sorry to mention them again, but I think we ALL deserve a bag of minieggs.. EACH. And a sodding medal.

ThePFJ · 12/03/2008 18:47

I hope it goes well Knitter.. have you tried going round on your hands and knees for a few hours? Apparently loads of mums on here recommend it. Either that or they have all read the same website and are just quoting it!
The website they all look to, thanks to Pruners for giving me this link is here

I expect you probably have seen it already though if you hang around mumsnet!
But I had to mention it anyways.
More minieggs for you me thinks!

Peachy · 12/03/2008 18:49

Yay! just finished Uni for the term (was supposed to be only assignments left but tehy've added extra lectures post_Easter- like i'll be attending!)

Had a horrid presentation to do but it's over with- just the diss and 5000 words on boddhisattvas now and then the exams. Yay!

Scan tomorrow as well, Dh can come as its not tooe arly, he's making me put a labour bag in the car (bah) as baby is currently demonstrating how to lie in the transverse position rather well. I think he must be diddy if he's doing that at 37+3.

DS3 has his first full day at school tomorrow for a school trip! Only to a local farm and I wouldn't have allowed it except his 1-1 has decided to attend in her own time (bless). Would ahve gone but it took me an hour to walk to Uni today- can normally manage it in 10 minutes!!!

Peachy · 12/03/2008 18:50

Knitter, frioend had ECV done but as soona s she got home baby was back in breech position! Apparently not unusual.

KnitterInTheNW · 12/03/2008 19:11

I must admit Scorpio, that I didn't really understand the whole moxibustion thing

The doc today was going to either book me in for the ecv or a section though, so I thought it was worth a try at least.

northeastmummy · 12/03/2008 19:35

Thanks for doing that bashboid! And yay to Peachy finishing uni today. Thank goodness for that. I hope that means you can rest a bit now???

Sal22 · 12/03/2008 20:54

Hi everyone. Good grief, lots of posts to catch up with, everyone's been busy here!

Just finished month end at work today - can't tell you how glad I am that this was the last one for a while... (even though i'm working till end mar, i won't be around for the actual m/e )

Can't believe this time in exactly 3 weeks is our last night just the two of us! Excited and scared all mixed up.

Hope everyone who felt a bit down today are ok again. I burst out crying yesterday when at the doctor for no reason whatsoever . At least she looked (or pretended very well...) used to it!

Sal22 · 12/03/2008 21:00

Oh, I've been meaning to add ages ago and kept being distracted by stupid work - I call bump "squick" or "vetpens" (means "fat tummy" in Afrikaans) . Even though we've decided on baby's name, it just feels too strange to call him that for some reason. Poor little one - I'll try my best not to continue calling him Squick while he grows up! (but can't promise)

Denny185 · 12/03/2008 21:05

Knitter, DD was breech so they tried ECV with her, didnt work with her but apparently have about 50% success rate and depends on the type of breech position baby is presenting in.

Mollyfloss · 12/03/2008 21:35

A new thread already!

OMFG!!!! at 11lb11 oz on the March thread!

So I saw the Doc tonight and the baby isn't as deeply engaged as last week but is still 3/5 and in great position and could still go fast so have decided not go to our friends house 90 mins from London this weekend just in case. Of course the baby could still be late. It's a case of nobody really knows.

I'm feeling like a whale too. It's all come on on the last few days. Am swelling a bit too and the joints in my fingers are sore... Oh well, have some cake ladies, there's strawberry sponge or black forest gateau

Knitter: My bro is a diabetic and has been since he was 12. He copes with it very well and most of the time I forget he is a diabetic. Still, it is a pain to have to take insulin and watch your diet etc. He enjoys sweet stuff too (in moderation of course)

Carey: how idd the antenatal class go? I quite enjoy my NCT classes. Everyone is really nice.

NEM: Apparently Arnica tablets are great for aches and pains but no need to take them otherwise...

What the gov says on smoked salmon:

Can I eat cold meats and smoked salmon when I'm pregnant?
Some countries advise pregnant women not to eat cold meats or smoked fish because of the risk of listeria. In the UK, we don't advise women to avoid these products because the risk is very low. The risk of listeria is much higher with soft mould-ripened cheeses (such as Brie and Camembert) or pâté, which you shouldn't eat during pregnancy. However, if you are concerned, you might also choose to avoid cold meats and smoked fish while you are pregnant.

KnitterInTheNW · 12/03/2008 21:44

I did some googling earlier and discovered about the 50% success rate, I decided it's worth a try at least rather than going straight for the c/s option. I know the baby will be a stubborn little thing though and will cling on for dear life to where he is now.

Denny185 · 12/03/2008 21:48

Would your cons be open to normal delivery if an 'easy to deliver' breech position, or is it a no no with diabetes and babies weight?

chipmonkey · 12/03/2008 22:05

They tried ECV wtih ds1 but he was very stubbornly stuck! Apparently if the baby is curled up in the foetal position it's far easier. Ds1 was a frank breech which means his legs were straight up, with his feet at his ears. They are much harder to turn.
Yay to finishing the term, Peachy. Now I ORDER you to put your feet up and have a bag of .....not mini-eggs but these gorgeous Kinder praline-filled ones I "shared" with the ds's today. ( Meaning they got one each and I got the rest ( Evil)

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 05:03

Oooooooo those praline eggs are nice...
-wishes the shops were open-

Looks like bump, my bladder and the cat have me properly awake now so bugger it, I may as well report in.
DP helped me clean and tidy our bedroom last night and then hoovered for me.. ah there's nothing like a wee bit o guilt is there?
Bless him.
My mum has realised she'll be here in a week now and is jumping with excitment. I can't wait to see her!

I'll pop the kettle on and start breakfast for everyone, teas, coffees or some really nice hot chocolate. Help yourselves.

xxx

Peachy · 13/03/2008 07:48

Morning ladies,

scan day today but I have to call MW ater the school run as last night I had the blurry vision thing again, and I have swelled up overnight. Hoping its just a reaction yesterday's Uni assessments, but the lowered growth that showed up last week does follow the pattern of my pregnancy with ds1 . Will have to see what she says.

BabyBratt · 13/03/2008 08:16

Hello Ladies

I have not been in here for absolutely ages. I never seem to have the time because I have my own business.

But I spent yesterday in hospital being monitored. My blood pressure is high. I am 34 + 2. I have been working all hours god sends. My blood pressure eventually came down to 140/90 which is only mildly high. The doctor said that they will put me on medication to buy me time and try to get me to 37 weeks. Which means I could have my baby in 3 weeks. They closed our delivery suite yesterday and I was only sent home because they had no beds. Does not instill me with confidence

Baby is not at all engaged. My midwife said that my strong stomach muscles my stop it engaging. Just feel like a lump do not at all feel like I have a good set of muscles.

Great to see all the familiar names. Good luck peachy. I am lucky my blood tests showed everything was fine.

EllieG · 13/03/2008 08:56

I don't want to give birth anymore. Went to ante natal class last night and it sounds much too painful.

Does anyone have any comments on Vitamin K?
