It comes in a shiny silver box and looks very impressive. Further than that I am not sure as I haven't really looked into it, just went with what other people said was good

KnitterInTheNW · 20/03/2008 10:50

Ellie, what brilliant news!

bunnyrabbit · 20/03/2008 10:54

And so pleased to hear about your fiends Ellie. Can't believe they told her that! You must all be so relieved.

Morning all...

Good news about your friend Ellie! I hate it when doctors say things like that! All that worry for nothing! I had a growth which I had cut out and sent of for testing as the doctor thought it might be cancerous - it wasn't thankfully but I nearly worried myself sick! I was really angry afterwards with him for making me so scared for no good reason - he could have just said it was routine to send these things off and not mention the C word!

Molly - the cupcakes I made are just regular ones - but really delish! Here is the recipe:

175g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
25g cocoa powder
150g caster sugar
100g unsalted butter, very soft
2 large free-range eggs
125ml milk

A 12-hole muffin tray lined with paper cupcake/muffin cases

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350F, Gas mark 4)
  2. Place a large sieve over a mixing bowl. Tip the flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa powder and sugar into the sieve as you measure them, then sift into the bowl.
  3. Add the butter to the bowl. Break the eggs into a small bowl then beat with a fork until a bit frothy.
  4. Pour the eggs and milk into the bowl. Use a wooden spoon to mix all the ingredients together to make a smooth cake batter.
  5. Carefully spoon the cake mixture into the paper cases, putting an equal amount into each one.
  6. Put the cakes in the preheated oven to bake for 20 minutes, until just firm to the touch. Remove the tray from the oven and leave to cool for about 2 minutes. Transfer the cakes to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.

I took mine out after 18 min as I personally think 20 min is too long and makes them a little dry.

Cream cheese frosting:

125g cream cheese
30g unsalted butter
225g icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I add 2 as I like the flavour)
pinch salt
1.5 tbs milk or cream - only if you think the consistency needs it

  1. Blend softened cheese and butter in mixer
  2. Blend and whip in the sugar and vanilla
  3. Beat in enough cream to arrive at the right spreading consistency
  4. Ready to spread

I added a few blueberries as a topping.. yum!

Happy Baking!

You see now I'm going to get picky... What ever happened to fairy cakes?? And icing?

We've all been Amerincanised!!

Which of course will not stop me emailing the recipe home to myself

Hi everyone,

BR - I have a dry tickly cough too atm, hope it gets better. When you said RL I actually read it as Real Life.. shows I spend too much time chatting on the net really. Also.. 'if the baby doesn't come before Weds' ? Wow! 1/5ths engaged is the same as deeply engaged!!

Ellie - GRRRRRRR to that doctor!!! I'll give him a f%&!ing hunch by the time I am finished with him!!!!

Are we continuing here or going to the new thread?

bunnyrabbit · 20/03/2008 12:00

PFJ, it's horrible isn't it. Unfortuantely this has gone all catarrhy and If I cough it hurts my chest and makes my eyes water. My god I'd be a mess of I went into labour now!!

Have made DR appointment for 1410 so will say ttfn for now and clear my desak and shoot off.

Hope you all have a lovely day (esp. Carey and Ellie - no more work yippeeeeee!!)
