I have made a conversation on this but am trying here too please ladies -

Does anyone have any good ideas of a lightweight pushchair/buggy that can be used from birth or 3 months plus? I need something to take on hol etc when baby is about 3/4 months and most buggies are 6 months plus. Don't want to spend too much either, have proper travel system but is bit bulky for whole family plus luggage.

SuzeM · 19/03/2008 12:41

I am a bit concerned at having to lose weight, I must admit, I've been very lucky and have never had to worry about it before so it is a little daunting.

I thought the NCT classes were great, the instructor was very practical and went through babycare, which was one of my concerns as I haven't a clue what to do when I leave the hospital. She did not push one approach or the other.

SuzeM · 19/03/2008 12:41

Ellie, people keep recommending Maclaren to me for a lightweight pushchair for holidays.

EllieG · 19/03/2008 12:45

Ta suze I will look into

PortAndLemon · 19/03/2008 12:52

I'd be inclined to look at the Maclaren Quest or Maclaren Triumph (both 3 months plus -- generally your cheaper options are 3 months plus rather than birth plus).

[sa]d
I just read thread in bereavement about a lady whose baby was born stillborn at 39weeks.
Scared the life out of me.

SuzeM · 19/03/2008 13:02

That is so sad.

EllieG · 19/03/2008 13:16

Oh poor love. That's so sad.

scorpio1 · 19/03/2008 13:19

I heart my loola!

EllieG · 19/03/2008 13:22

I'm sure it loves you too sweetpea

scorpio1 · 19/03/2008 13:25

it does; it told me so.

Reilly and especially Jamie are very interested in it. DH says no pushing Jamie around in it though! [meany] (Jamie hasn't had a pushchair for about a year now!!)

Reilly finishes school at 2pm today; then arrgghh 2.4 weeks off. Great timing on our baby-making parts, isnt it!! Am 37 weeks on Friday, i think i have about 2 weeks to go. I AM NOT READY (mentally!)

Carey87 · 19/03/2008 13:46

I just read that thread and now I'm crying at work, oh poo!

chipmonkey · 19/03/2008 13:51

Sorry, Molly, didn't realise you had been a size 8 before! A 10 would certainly be more achievable in that case!
I found it hard to get back in shape after my CS's but that's mainly because you can't exercise your abs in the same way after a CS, so a natural birth would be better.
Exclusive breastfeeding allows you 10 weight watchers points per day, not sure what that is in calories, so if you bf and don't gorge yourself that would help.
I have noticed that women who were slim before having babies seem to lose the weight more easily anyway, I have always battled with my weight so wouldn't be the best example.

Mollyfloss · 19/03/2008 13:56

No worries Chipmonkey! I'm still not sure that size 190 is achievable even if I was a size 8 but a challenge is probably a good thing.

Mollyfloss · 19/03/2008 13:58

Size 10 I meant. I read that thread too, so sad...

christmaspixie · 19/03/2008 14:04

Hi Molly, I was a size 8 before my last dd, and I think it took me 3 / 4 months to be back to a size 8 bottoms and a size 10 top (due to inflated bf boobs!!). But then, I didn't try at all to lose the weight, and I did eat a huge bar of green and black choc every day (for a year after!!) I was also a totally different shape- much thinner legs, but much wider waist! It's hard to know how fast you'll lose it, but if the dress is a generous 10 you'll probably be okay. (Also I put on 3 stone while pregnant, and looks like I will again...just like my Mum did!!

Funnily enough, once I stopped bf at 17 months I suddenly gained 5 pounds! Think bf is the best diet ever!!

christmaspixie · 19/03/2008 14:07

r.e skin to skin, with dd I asked for her to be wrapped in a towel and put straight on me. Seemed like a good compromise, the goo didn't touch me, but I was the first to hold her to me, and the towel was only loose.

chipmonkey · 19/03/2008 14:08

Molly, is the dress being made or bought?

northeastmummy · 19/03/2008 14:46

Molly - IMHO ... the first 10 weeks of having a baby isn't the easiest time. I'm really worried about you having the extra pressure of trying to get into the right shape to fit into your dress. Also, is the style good for feeding? I've thought long and hard about saying anything but I've decided it's better to say it now than wait until your baby is here and it's too late - then I'll just kick myself.

Of course, I could be worrying unnecessarily. Like you say, your family know you and your body and have all been there. So they're probably the people you should be listening to.

Ellie - I got a Maclaren Quest when DD1 was 6 months old. I got it specifically for travelling and have never looked back. In fact, our extremely expensive buggy has hardly been used since we got the stroller. It's so light and easy to fold and DD1 loves it so we've used it as our main buggy since we got it.

Carey87 · 19/03/2008 16:23

were very quiet on here today girls!

I just got an email about a free nappy disposer from bounty! apparently we get the vouchers in the pack at the hospital. Sounds good to me!

northeastmummy · 19/03/2008 16:24

Oh no! I've shocked everyone into silence. I take it all back!!!! Have you started a new thread somewhere else without me and not told me??

ThePFJ · 19/03/2008 16:24

-Avoids sad threads about stillborn babies-

I cry enough as it is!!!

Been feeling so sick today, out of breath and I seem to have the runs. Which is nice.

This week, I have been mostly eating yoghurt.
-gets back in her shed.. I mean BED-
xxx

PortAndLemon · 19/03/2008 16:29

You probably do if you don't tell the Bounty woman to sod off (which I didn't do last time, just because it was easier to get rid of her by just taking the rotten thing, but will be doing this time ). Well, not actually sod off unless she is stroppy.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 19/03/2008 16:39

My tummy is also upset today... hopefully the chocolate cupcakes I just made will help it!

Watching a programme on TV called Extreme Makeover Home Edition - and take it from me - if you don't want to cry, don't watch this programme!

VictorianPASqualor · 19/03/2008 16:58

NEM, I agree with what you've said, hence my slightly m,roe half-hearted 'more important things to worry about' post earlier.

I'd like to think Molly will listen to us or I'll be telling her off daily
