spugs, am 2/5ths too

we really are racing!!

Got horrible BHs today, nearly told DP to come home early and then thought better!!

imjin100 · 28/02/2008 14:00

hi all, just popping by to see how everyone is doing on this lovely new thread - the chat moves on so quickly that I can't keep up but congrats to any new arrivals and good luck to those on the way. I've seen the MW today to a 39+6 check...baby 2/5ths engaged but in her view (and mine) it's not coming any time soon which is lucky cos we're off to a really lovely dinner tonight and have people for dinner coming here on saturday! Also have plans for next week as total denial it might actually arrive without an induction!
anyway - love to you all and i'll try and do better at reading up on the posts....it's a full time job though doing that so i'll just continue my periodic rambles!

Jaysthird · 28/02/2008 14:08

Thanks Caz for your thoughts. I do still post on the postnatel March 2007 thread, although not as often as i used to. Hope you are keeping well and Los are fine!

Well i thought i was going to hit March for the birth of my third! Good job i joined you lot. Do sometimes feel a bit of an outsider, you all seem to have known each other from the start. Still if you can read my waffle and sometimes give me a response then i shouldnt (and i am not really) complain!!

Well i have had more BH with cramps this morning, def something is afoot...oh yeah is of labouut to have a baby...lol Piggy, so long as you can carry on as 'normal' then i would say you are in the first stages. This can sometimes go on for hours, days or even a few weeks before birth. Its a sign the uterus is becoming stronger for the birth and active labor. Mine started 2 weeks ago, i thought i was going into labor and even started to time them, every 5 mins and lasting over a minute....but it only lasted for an hour and half, then dissapeared! Nothing for a few days then a repeat. Its been like that ever since and now i find myself 2 days over!!{grrrrr emotion} BUT thats not to say that will happen to you. Everyone is different. Also you can have a few 'shows' before labor kicks in for 'real' as in , you lose a bit then another then another, if you know what i mean. Its still all very exciting though, keep us posted

Right off to check up on the Feb thread...

tori32 · 28/02/2008 15:15

Aaah congratulations to Glamma and family x

e14mum · 28/02/2008 15:24

Hurrah for Glam! Am off to RL tonight for last antenatal class- wish I could just pop in for a look at Charlie!
Internet is down here- I'm at the cafe down the road waiting for tech support to send me something for the 3rd time! Grrr... talk about hormones and PMS- I've got a bad case of both today!

MumOfBillyTheKid · 28/02/2008 15:50

Congratulations Glam!

Had my 37+2 MW check-up today - surprised to find 3/5 engaged already! Must have been the lovely walk yesterday with tori32 round Poole Park! MW still thinks will go full term (maybe + 5 days) as first one.

Good luck those having pre-labour/early labour pains! Will check back in soon to check-up on you all - starting to get exciting now!! Can't believe LO is nearly here!

JFly · 28/02/2008 16:31

Woo hoo! Congrats to Glam. So jealous.

Merry you deserve a medal! How long has this been going on?

Hope everyone's niggles turn into proper labour soon!

merryberry · 28/02/2008 17:51

ah magic news from Glam!
It's over a week of pure blergh for me now.
I am very jealous Glam has her boy already

ibblewob · 28/02/2008 18:02

Congrats Glam and good luck piggy - am v.

Am due on Sunday, but was 42 weeks with first so am not holding out much hope Am getting kind of shooting pains 'down below' so maybe head started to engage? (hasn't so far). Here's hoping.

fitnfortyone · 28/02/2008 18:18

yay for glam and haylstones!

Took myself off to the retail park today and treated myself to a bose sounddock...like we're made of money at the moment. This is my version of nesting!Got a bath pillow from woolies for the birthing pool, then slobbed round asda for pizza and essentials (more curry...but had 3 already in 4 days, so pizza tonight for a change!). Aching back and head pressing on painful bits, feeling nice and teary and getting upset over stupid things tonight, please let this be imminent!!!

PurlyQueen · 28/02/2008 18:18

Congrats to Glam!

derah · 28/02/2008 18:23

Hooray, welcome to Tinyglam!! It really is lovely having all these babies arrive!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fed up now!! All these constant pains and twinges and emotional moment all keep me thinking that it really is going to happen any minute, but then nothing does! I had my usual Tuesday night contractions, but it all went away as soon as I got out of bed Wednesday morning. Aaaaaaargh!

Plan is to try a hot curry tonight and try the other old favourite involving DH to get baby moving.

But on the other hand, do I really want the poor thing born on 29 Feb?

Very impressed with all of you who seem so zen about waiting and don't mind being pregnant!

Oh, and Piggy, sounds like it's all happening for you! Yay! For what it's worth, I waited for my contractions to get regular with DD and was waiting until the moment she was born!! They never got regular in the slightest and it was only the increasing pain level that made it clear that labour was really happening!

turtle23 · 28/02/2008 18:31

Remind me why we're doing this again? Another 24 hours of non-stop BH, dodgy tum, cramping and from the sounds of it this is just how life will be for the next few weeks. Harumph. Merryberry ...fancy ditching this pregnancy lark and going on holiday? West Indies? We can pick this up again in a month or so when we're rested, can't we?

HolidaysQueen · 28/02/2008 18:54

Oh, exciting news from Glam - and such a cute name too! Welcome Charlie!

And good luck piggyp!!!

I've just got back from my 36 week scan. I nearly burst into tears on the bus (and actually did so when I got home and thought about it again) because I got on to a full bus and 3 people stood up for me at the same time and then started arguing amongst themselves about where I should sit, and then all wished me well as they got off! It was so kind

Scan went well - placenta has moved sufficiently that the consultant is happy for me to go for a natural birth Baby is measuring well for dates and his estimated weight is currently 6lb8oz. He's also got himself back into position (good boy!) and has started to descend so my notes finally say '4/5ths' where they've said 'free' for ages.

I'm happy and about to have fish pie for dinner (DH out and I can't have this when he's around as he hates fish so it's actually a real treat for me!) - so although I was bored of being pregnant this morning I'm now feeling happy

spugs · 28/02/2008 19:00

yay glam

i am so bored of this now! having lots of bhs and cramps but know fine well that this is what happened last time and i still went to 40 +1. with dd1 it was heaven as i didnt have so much as a twinge till i started with labour. so i never had the wondering if it was the early stages or not. pregnancy should come with a handout saying when and at what time labour is going to start, would save all this wondering.

fitnfortyone · 28/02/2008 19:37

good news HQ, glad you're feeling happier now

Seconded that idea that we all just go on holiday...i've been looking through loads of brochures for where i want to go, ruling out ones where i can't take a kid and wondering is there any point in going to some other places while they're not old enough to appreciate it.
Most put out that apparently you can't get those water bungalow things in the maldives if you have a sprog under 16...who the hell would want to be in a water bungalow with a child that age?

spugs - i said to DH tonight that my planning gene is just upset because i don't know what day things will happen, and burst into tears on him over that. DH thinks it's funny as he hates planning anything.

merryberry · 28/02/2008 19:39

turtle, funny you say that. yesterday i had an hour's escapism planning another trip in the indian ocean. pure, harmless, glorious fantasy it was.

aprilfoolsbaby · 28/02/2008 19:54

Congratulations Glam - Charlie is such a cute name x

I posted a couple of days ago about my high blood pressure. Well I had another bp test today and it's still sky high - have been told I must give up work. Oh well, will go in tomorrow to tie up some loose ends and that'll be it!

Had growth scan aswell and estimated weight of baby is 5 lb 8 - hq you said at your 36 week scan baby is 6 lb 8 (I'm 35 + 4) Does this sound low? Midwife said everything looked fine though.

This baby growing lark is worrying.

Looking forward to long lunches, morning TV, reading all those books I promised myself I'd read ..... and what else do expectant mum's do on mat leave?

timmyinatizzy · 28/02/2008 20:26

Congratulations to Glam and welcome to Charlie.

April - I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and Junior was measuring at 5lb 11oz, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. The doctors said that the weight was ok for the age.

I think I'm starting to get a lot more Braxton Hicks, the top of my tummy squeezes for a couple of seconds then lets go again. I've also just given Junior the hiccups, by woofing down a chocolate brownie. I have also been experiencing an increase in Carpal tunnel in my right hand this week. I'm finding it happens throughout the day and not just at night now. Could these be v v v early labour signs???

Thanks to everyone who answered my question about where to find Lansinoh, I found some at my local Boots, and then saw some at Waitrose today, so at least I have two sources to buy from now.

papaya · 28/02/2008 20:28

wow congrats glamma!! Still find it so surreal that we all started the March thread nearly 9 months ago, everything went so slow during the early days now we all have our due dates coming up and babies are showing their cute little faces!!!!!

Does anyone else feel like its all still a bit surreal???! Until lo one kicks you in the ribs that is ;)

papaya · 28/02/2008 20:33

aprilfoolsbaby - I had a growth scan on weds at 37 weeks and they said my baby is roughly 6lb5, the sonographer said to me this was fine for my dates and that it would still be fine a pound under this weight or a pound over. I think your babies weight sounds just fine

fitnfortyone · 28/02/2008 20:40

talking of lansinoh, i won their jan comp for a breastfeeding starter pack, dead chuffed! Only snag being you have to send 'em a photo to put on the website! Apparently the stuff should arrive tomorrow, so i'm sorted for a few of the extras i hadn't got round to buying yet

modsaluk · 28/02/2008 20:48

Hello everyone,

Had an appointment with the consultant yesterday and he found protein in my water again, warned me it may be pre-eclampsia and wanted me to have some blood checked, my blood pressure was fine and i have called the hospital today and been told that my bloods are all ok which i am very glad about, believe that they may take you into hospital if you have it not sure though.

We felt the earthquake here felt quite bad, we experianced a earthquake on our honeymoon in Dominican Republic about 6 years ago so was very histerical when it happened here, in dominican there were tremors which were almost as bad as the earthquake for the week following. We live in Hull so are only 30 miles away from the epicentre.

Was wondering what LO means assume it must be something about the new arrivals.
