Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Morning all...

Am feeling bleurgh now - the ms kicked in this morning as soon as I opened my eyes (was exactly the same with dd, lets just hope it goes a lot sooner than 14wks!!)

My drs appt went well on Friday, am now in the system. I was able to make my booking in appt with the mw at the same time so will see her on the 20th Feb. Apparently she likes to get ladies booked in by 9wks so the scans can be sorted - efficient eh?

We also told dd yesterday - she was gobsmacked. The look on her face was priceless, then she said "you are kidding, right?" (exact quote lol) We asked her to keep it a secret for now, what do you reckon the chances are of a 5yo keeping this to herself??!!

PrePG · 04/02/2008 10:56

Hi all:

Charitygrl - glad to hear everything went well with your visit. I think it's super hard for any mother to resist the thought of grandchildren. My mother melted even though I'm 3000+ miles away!

worktostaysane - I'm impressed with your furniture moving! I've been doing some cleaning around the house and find that, although I'm not fatigued or anything, I do have to stop and rest every now and again. My mom keeps telling me to be careful, dont' stretch and don't overdo it - I thought the advice sounded so old-fashioned at first, but I think the reality of this all is starting to sink in! Yesterday I bent down to put something away in a bottom cupboard and realized that it won't be long before I won't really be able to do that!

I've got no MS, touch wood, and I don't really have any food aversions, just funny cravings every now and again. Not like cravings I would usually have, these are more subtle and they just come over me out of nowhere. Mostly pizza and balsamic vinegar??? weird!

Am feeling tired, but not overly so, and last night I felt so restless that when I woke up I felt like I hadn't slept at all. Also had a few funny baby-related dreams last night. Breasts are still huge and sore! But cramping I had previously seems to be gone.

Sunshinemummy · 04/02/2008 12:11

Hi all. I'm having a real worry day today. Symptoms haven't totally gone but have lessened to the extent that it's making me panic. Found myself up in the midle of the night researching missed miscarriage in my books. Have called midwife today but left a message for them to return my call. Feeling silly and neurotic but:

Only feel slightly sick now and not all the time
Am tired but not overly so
Have a headache but not sure what that might be
No sore or bigger boobs (although I didn't last time either)
Haven't even put on a pound.

Hope all is well with you all.

hopefully · 04/02/2008 12:48

Think positive sunshinemummy. I'm sure it's all fine and your body is just giving you a day off. Saying that, there's absolutely no reason not to insist that your midwife reassures you and find a heartbeat/sends you for an early scan to make you happy again.

imoscarsmum · 04/02/2008 14:29

Sunshinemummy, try not to worry. I sometimes feel like this too. 3 weeks ago I had mild nausea but even that's all gone now. i just feel slightly tired and my boobs seem a bit bigger. I feel guilty that this seems so easy (specially when I read about all the terrible ms some of you have). In my dark hours, I think about the things I read about having an empty sac that won't be found until the scan.

But - most importantly - unless you know different, keep positive. The chances of it being bad news are small, so try to stay hopeful. Here's to good news for all.

imoscarsmum · 04/02/2008 14:34

On another note, the appointments system in my area seems a bit bonkers! I have my booking in with local mw on 15 feb. Rang hospital today to arrange 12 week scan and they also had to arrange booking in at hospital. So I now have 2 booking ins - one with community mw at GP surgery and one at hospital. Can this be right? I asked hospital and all they said was that I had to have a booking in at hospital, whatever else I had.
NHS, I ask you....

Did find out from birthchoiceuk that my hospital has a better than average rating, which makes me happier

Sunshine I hope your mw got back in touch with you. Dont be afraid to bug them a little if they havent.

In my last pregnancy I had terrible sickness for days then felt on top of the world for days. I did not have access to the internet, information or anyone to talk to so presumed this was normal and it certainly was. In contrast, I am sick as a dog constantly this time. Try not to worry I think every person and every pregnancy is a different experience.

I have my book in with the local mw on the 14th feb. But dont know what to do about scan. Do I do it or does the mw or gp? I Lived in a different area last time so it was all done for me.

Sunshinemummy · 04/02/2008 16:31

Midwife not yet called back, although their answerphone message did say they often weren't around after 11am so maybe they won't until tomorrow.

Have a booking in appointment at hospital so maybe I should wait until then.

DP says I did worry like this last time until we had the lovely scan, but he also said call the midwife.

I did a totally pointless pregnancy test at lunchtime and it came up with exactly the same result as last time.

I know I'm being silly and neurotic, and chances of it are slim, but I'm here at work, with no-one to talk to about it, and panicking and just generally being a totaly wally.

Sorry all...

Sunshinemummy · 04/02/2008 16:34

Sorry should say booking in is on Thurs.

hopefully · 04/02/2008 16:38

Well at least you know you have booking appointment coming up, but definitely hassle the midwife again tomorrow morning if you sitll feel worried - the stress can't do you any favours, I figure, so better to speak to someone, even if there was nothing to worry about!

I am juuuuust beginning to feel sick, and have to hang on for 25 more minutes before I can start my epic voyage home. It's so annoying not getting home for ages. Some days I regret deciding not to tell work (and apply for flexible working) till 12 weeks, but the thought of having to un-tell my dinosaur boss if anything went wrong is enough of a reminder!

Gracie14 · 04/02/2008 16:53

Hi all,

sunshinemummy - sorry your feeling worried, I had about three days of no sickness and then it came back. I've got strange aches in my abdomen they are not cramps but feel they could turn into them - we are all a nightmare aren't we but lets all think positive. I've got my booking in appointment on Friday and I hope they are going to check for a heartbeat so definately request it on Thursday just to put your mind at rest. Take care hun

Well have a good evening ladies, back soon

splishsplosh · 04/02/2008 18:08

Sunshinemummy, I know how you feel, because I really don't have any symptoms either - still bit of a funny taste in my mouth, a bit tired, faint occasional queasiness, but if i didn't know I was pg, I think I wouldn't actually notice these things. My mc in Sept makes me worry more - but on the other hand, I felt fine with dd too - my sister (a nurse) kept telling me scary tales of mmc then, but everything was fine. Remember, some people don't even realise they're pg for ages cos they feel fine.

So sorry for all of you who are feeling / being so sick, it must be totally miserable.

Mustsleep - definitely report your employer - they have a duty towards you, and it's disgraceful they think it's funny for you to ask for your rights

Well my dd asked to go to bed at 5.30 this evening!!!! She was asleep 15 minutes later - I just hope se doesn't wake up at 4am - her normal time is somewheer around 6. & is a lie in for me these days!

mamamufin · 04/02/2008 18:23

Hi guys.

Sunshine, Can you think of a food you really could stomach and smell it. It might set your ms off again.

LeonieD can I ask you when yor last period was as mine was the 13th and I think I am due on the 18th. Does this fit in with you? I would defo ask your doc why the midwife is concerned about the meds.

I have had a horrendeous day with sickness. feel like I am being poisened and have lost so much weight. I have made an appointment with doc tomorrow as I am getting dehydrated and need to keep more fluid in. I am very shaky, weak and wobbly. However, I have discovered that marmite on toast stays down Fingers crossed.

Hope you all get a good nights sleep. I will be setting up camp in the en suite again no doubt.

That's part of the worry Mamauffin as I made DS some pasta with pesto and mayo yesterday and I couldn't go near that a couple of weeks ago.

carrieon · 04/02/2008 19:20

Hello can I join in?! Got my bfp last week, due right at the end of the month so might have to jump ship to the October thread if the scan changes my dates! Waited ages to test coz sick of seeing negatives so waited until I was absolutely totally sure. So sorry for everyone whose breakfast is revisiting them, I'm sure i'll be there soon! I remember not being able to put my socks on last time coz bending over made me heave. Managed to sleep when dd did this lunchtime, bliss. Now to arrange that everyday for the next 7 1/2 months...

Sunshinemummy · 04/02/2008 19:24

Hello Carrieon and congrats.

kel78 · 04/02/2008 20:06

Hi everyone, found out 2 weeks ago that I am preg again, really pleased. Have had an early scan already due to prev ms but all ok so thought Id join in with ur thread. Due approx sept 16th

becaroo · 04/02/2008 20:07

Mustsleep...log on to directgov.org and go onto the maternity rights section and that will give you all the info you need to know re: employers responsibilty....you could print it off for them!!

Feel AWFUL today. Not been sick yet, just constant nausea and churning stomach, much worse at night. Bleurgh.

Sorry for all those of you who are so sick...its horrid.

Will let you know how the scan goes on weds (fingers crossed!).....

ninja · 04/02/2008 20:12

StarlightMcKenzie - try a non minty toothpaste, I gather that can help.

splishsplosh I agree, I thought at first that all my tiredness was due to pregnancy, but I did a 5 hour training session yesterday and felt so much better afterwards. I think it was good to have my mind somewhere else. Saying that I'm knackered now!!

I loved being pregnant last time and I think I just can't wait until that great 3rd Trimester.

ninja · 04/02/2008 20:14

Ohhh.. after complaining about having no symptoms for the first few weeks, the nausea has really kicked in.

7 days ago it was just the morning I felt nauseous (combatting with eating little bits regularly)

3 days ago the nausea extended to the afternoon.

Today... I threw up whilst trying to brush my teeth.

We're trying not to tell anyone until after the 12 week scan. But I'm only 8 weeks on Wednesday and I've no idea how I'm going to keep this secret.

I feel really pleased that at least I feel pregnant, but it's so hard. My social life has been cancelled indefinitely!

splishsplosh · 04/02/2008 21:02

i bought a pg magazine yesterday, even though it feels like i'm jinxing myself, and something bad will happen now, but I don't want to spend all the time pretending it's not happening, just in case, so I indulged myself. I bought Junior, cos although sadly I don't have enough money to buy anything they feature, it does have intelligent articles - although also some very wacky ideas occasionally.

Tomorrow's my gp appointment, so I'm hoping they'll be sympathetic to my request for an early scan after a mc. But my sister told me that a friend of hers had 2 mc, then a baby, then another mc, and they still refused to give her an early scan when she was next pg .

I need a bit of mc, as I feel like eating all the time. Today started well with fruit smoothie, grapes, banana and 2 wholemeal plain pitta breads, but deteriorated into doughnut, choc chip cookie and vast packet of kettle chips sorry for everyone who can't keep anything down.
