Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Kel78, hi, yes you are right. When my son was born grobag did not have newborn size, but now they do a brilliant one, it is a best seller for 13.95. It is for babies 0-3 months and it comes with a cotton wrap to help them sleep these difficult first weeks.

It is called grobag swadding and they sell it in Bump to 3 (We get a 10% discount because we are mumsnet members. They also should give us another 10% off when ge buy 2 or more grobags)

LeoniD My son was also 10 lb, and all the newborn clothes I was given I had to exchange them for 0-3 size. I have been told I will probably have a big one this time as well, so apart from the grobag, I am not buying anything small this time.

kel78 · 02/03/2008 10:18

potoxola- Thanks I will deff get one because my dd slept so much better once I put her in them.

slinkiemalinki · 02/03/2008 15:38

Hi all, feeling pretty sick today, but nothing to do with the pregnancy... we offered asking price on our dream house yesterday and if anyone tops it by 9pm Monday then looks like we will go to the dreaded sealed bids. I am trying to keep out of my husband's way as we just end up going over the same old ground every time we speak, what if he'd said X, should we do Y, etc. Making all my little worries about the pregnancy fade away (for now anyway). Poor little bean, I have virtually forgotten about him/her (except for my tight waistband). I can't remember if I posted since I got back from holiday but we had a lovely break, weather (Mexico/Miami) fabulous and DD great on the plane (HIGHLY recommend a portable DVD and huge stash of kids' DVDs - she is 22m). Great to see all the good news about scans coming through and people perking up a bit. My scan is a week tomorrow when I am 12w exactly and hopefully if we are disappointed in the house purchase, that will go well and remind us what really matters!

Hello all,

slinkie glad to hear you had a lovely holiday. fingers crossed they accept the offer. I remember how nerve racking all that is.
starlight DH refuses to acknowledge I am already a mother...he's told me to wait till next year!
nauseous and carrieon I too have a streaming cold. so unlike me! almost like a really bad case of hayfever with the snot and the sneezing, but luckily no fever or achy bones. think immune system has forgotten about me and is focussing on growing a baby.

well, am still off chocolate. we bought my mum a beautiful box of hotel chocolat goodies and I didn't even nick one! I keep seeing pictures of yummy-looking Easter eggs and thinking I'd really like one but know that as soon as I sniff it I'll be put off. oh, I miss chocolate.

Am starting my first 5 day week for ages tomorrow. slightly nervous that I'll collapse in a heap by wednesday, but hopefully it'll go quickly and then before I know it the following Tuesday will have rolled round and I'll have hit the 12 week mark.

keep those happy scan stories coming!

slinkiemalinki · 02/03/2008 18:02

Thanks DG, hope your week goes well (or not too bad) and get well soon!

Well I am officially feeling sorry for myself. Not only was today my first mothers day as a mummy, but it was also my first birthday as a mummy. Sadly it has been a double disappointment. I'm full of cold and fever and sore throat and dizzy spells. Have spent most of the day in bed on my own while dh looked after dd. Also, my dad and bro didn't bother sending me so much as a card, and for the first time no money fell out of the cards from my uncle and godmother. Is it coz I'm 28, or just that they've changed the object of their affections and dd will be rich beyond her wildest dreams in a month's time on her birthday? Oh yes, and we've cancelled the babysitter tonight and downgraded our posh, romantic dinner out to a takeaway and early night.
Moan over [whew]. I'm blessed with an amazing dh and beautiful dd and great friends. But I still feel minging.

carrieon · 02/03/2008 19:20

ps, is lemsip ok in our condition?

barnpot · 02/03/2008 20:08

Hi I'm Jess and I'm due sept 22nd, and totally petrified, I was advised by a friend to talk to some people who are going through the same type of stuff, and she recomended here.
Is this pregnancy thing doing eveyone elses head in? I'm so worried that when I have my scan on tuesday they'll tell me there is no heart beat (which is what happened a year last dec). but I'm trying not to think about that.
I've put on 4 pounds, (mainly to hold off the sickness) and I look 6 months pregnant, I normally have a slim figure, people who don't know, are telling me that I shoud cut back on the pasties!!
any words of reassuance welcome! thanks for listen to me whine!

slinkiemalinki · 02/03/2008 20:23

Thanks Starlight, you are right about staying detached... I am hiding feelings fairly well as my husband is totally stressed by it all - I've never seen him like this before normally cool as a cucumber! Glad you had a nice hol too and sorry about your car seat.

carrieon I thought Lemsip was a no - I always thought straight paracetamol was ok (as Lemsip has something else added) but mum told me she had read recently it is ok after 12 weeks! Who knows. But I have been told no to Lemsip by a pharmacist. But then a pharmacist once told me I couldn't have a strepsil while breastfeeding!

Hi Jess/barnpot, we have the same due date, welcome! It is a mine of help and support here. I felt exactly the same as you when I was pregnant with my daughter and same earlier in this pregnancy - I am only more confident now as I had an 8w scan that showed a tiny bean and heartbeat. Sure you will be OK, just keep strong and only a week or two until your scan I assume?

DebitheScot · 02/03/2008 21:25

nauseous, carrieon and digitalgirl- I've had a stinking cold all weekend too. Its been horrible, runny nose, sneezing, blocked nose, stuffed up head, temperature, tiredness and generally feeling lousy.
Carrieon I allowed myself 1 lemsip yesterday. I was taking paracetemol all day which was helping but not brilliant and then we were going out to friends for dinner (didn't really feel up to it but had been a nightmare to find babysitter and I didn't want to cancel on the same day as going) so I took 1 lemsip just before we went. I figured that it was unlikley to do any harm.

barnpot I'd've thought that the fact you are still feeling sick is a good sign that everything will be ok with scan. Hope you manage to relax for the next couple of days till you get to see for yourself.

carrieon · 02/03/2008 21:42

Thanks, glad to know I'm not alone! I did a bit of research and the bad bit about lemsip seems to be that the noradrenalin can raise your blood pressure which of course can be bad in pregnancy. But given my dizzy spells, it seems like my blood pressure could do with a little help right now anyway. Here's looking forward to another night of drinking water to ease dry mouth due to blocked nose, followed by excessive loo trips.
must stop with the self-pity

DebitheScot · 02/03/2008 21:44

oh I know what you mean. On Friday night I was so dehydrated and I couldn't breathe either so then got v dry mouth from beathing through nose. I woke up every hour all night and had to get up to pee 3 times! It reminded me of the lack of sleep you get with a newborn!

potxola · 03/03/2008 08:41

Welcome barnpot.
Yes, it is normal to feel the way you do right now.
This threat has really helped me a lot. I joined this lovely group when I was worried about having lost the baby and they really reassured me. I am sure you will feel the same way.
nauseous, carrieon, digitalgirl and DebiTheScot, sorry to hear about your cold, I have just recovered from my huge cold, it has taken 2 weeks and my son is still ill at home.I only took paracetamol, but I was dying to take something stronger. Hope you get weel soon.

Gracie14 · 03/03/2008 09:21

Hi all,

barnpot - Congrats on pregnancy, sorry you are feeling so worried hun but very understandable with what happened before . I think a lot of us have felt the same I know I worried constantly until my scan thinking the worst, and now still worrying that something may happen before the next scan at 20 weeks. And to be honest I think we will all worry until we actually hold our babies in our arms, but this thread is a great support please come on and tell us your worries and good news. Sending ((hugs)) to you and take care of yourself.

Quick question please, I am getting lots of headaches and to cope i am taking occassional paracetamol, now how much do you think is safe? I only take one every 6/8 hours (if needed), and try not to but sometimes to get through the day need to. Any advice would be appreciated.

barnpot · 03/03/2008 09:23

thanks guys, scan tomorrow, fingers crossed!!

kel78 · 03/03/2008 09:52

kel78- hi everyone hospital still have no record of me now I have to ring my m/w again who I have no no for to chase up for 3rd time- Hospital also told me that they have backlog but I am not in it. Will I ever get my blood tests etc done

TreadmillMom · 03/03/2008 10:04

Good Morning Ladies,
Hope you had good weekends?
I too have a stinking cold, just cannot clear my sinuses and in the mornings I sound like a 20 a day smoker. Doctor says its just viral.
Decided to attend job interview this afternoon, my 'gut feeling' has been telling me all weekend to go, don't know why. I've put on my nice slinky pinafore type pinstripe dress and there is a definate pregnancy curve to my outline, should of wore my contour control pants!
DS2 totally butted the bridge of my nose this morning with the back of his head, it was so painful and I heard a crunch, my eyes were streaming and there was a little blood. I was convinced he'd broken my nose.
Last mothers day DH completely neglected me and I did not hold back on letting him know how unimpressed I was. So yesterday he made amends the kids signed a card and bought me a bottle of Baileys , so I gotta wait 6 months before I can enjoy my Mothers Day gift. Blokes eh? What planet...

kel78 · 03/03/2008 10:56

Lol treadmillion typical bloke, my dh is like that hes not very good with the whole present and making a fuss thing. I had plants not just 1 but 2, 1 of each child. Not really a plant person but hey at least I got something this year. Probably would have preferred a big bar of galaxy.

Good news finally rang the ante natal clinic again, dont know why I cant have my mw tel no they just say I will get her to ring you. Anyway I made a real fuss that the hospital which I want to go to have told me they have a back log and they have no record of me again, this is 3rd time I have had to chase this up which shouldnt be up to me. They have finally agreed to re fax it again for 4th time to hospital where I have had prev 2 c sections.

I then rang them to ask them to look out for it and horray it was coming through on the fax machine as we spoke.

Bad News- Because im 12 weeks now and they have a back log of people from out of the catchment area wanting to go there they dont know when I will get an appointment.

I explained that I told MW when I was 7 weeks that I wanted to go there and that its not really my fault that they had not recd faxes. She said she will speak to MW to see if they can fit me in. Just have to wait now for phone call.

Really dont want to go to local hospital as it is a dump, which I know is really bad to say also im fighting to try and have vbac2 which only my prev cons might agree to.

Sorry about the moan but no one else to moan to, glad ive got this thread

Still not gotten rid of my cough and I'm back at work today. Had a reasonable journey in, thankfully, as managed to get a seat on train and tube, but feeling so tired now. I really have just pretty much slept for a week.

DP and I went to The Babyshow on Sat and managed to get pretty much everything we need. Ordered a Phil and Ted (with assoc accessories), a new Trip Trap, a new travel cot, sheepskins and, excitingly, we've booked a 3d scan! Really wanted one with DS and we never did so we 've booked one for when this baby is about 26 weeks, which is what they recommended. We're wondering whether to take DS with us or not, but as it's not until end May, we've got plenty of time to decide. Very excited about it though.

Anyway, glad to hear about all the brilliant scans. My photos as C&W have all been free, which DP and I were not expecting as it was £5 per photo at St Thomas'. I'll upload mine at some point, although they're not as clear as the ones we had with DS.

surelyyoucantbeserious · 03/03/2008 11:36

Well I clearly spoke to soon about symptoms having gone. Had dodgy belly last night and could barely wake up this morning - completely exhausted! Maybe because I stayed up til 12.45 on Sat night babysitting!!! Obviously my body just can't cope with late nights right now.

And feeling slightly nauseous again today...

Barnpot good luck for tomorrow. Me too, nervous about scan next week. Can't wait to actually see something in there. At the moment I just feel a bit fat, can't get my head round the fact that there is a baby in there....

Treadmill - bottle of bailey's?! hilarious!!Good luck this avo...

Dragonhart · 03/03/2008 11:38

I had my scan on wed and they have bought my date forward to the 25th Aug. As I am having a cs, will prob be more like the 18th, so I hope you wont be offended if I move to the Aug thread.

Good luck to everyone and hope you are all blooming soon. xxxx

Afternoon everyone. Had quite a nice weekend, although far too much of dp's family for my liking

Am having day of doom at work, and just want to stamp my foot and insist everyone is nice to me because I'm pregnant! I suspect they might just laugh though...

Glad we're getting more and more happy scan stories, and sorry to all of you with colds. I am refusing to give in to a mild one at the moment, but I'm sure it will leave me alone as soon as I relax about work.
