Ellie - welcome to my world!! Whilst pregnant with DS my DH wouldnt entertain the idea at all due to MC before. This time did quite well until 20 week scan, then visable baby reminded him what was in there an slowly tapered off again. Just think of the fun you can start having again once LO here!

Ive never had a prob with boobs leaking at the wrong time IYKWIM, used to feed B4 so baby would be nice and settled and sleep to give u some time after

Stuck in the house all day today waiting 4 sofa bed to arrive - the start of the oh my god were having another child in house soon preparations. Still dont think Ive got my head around it properly.

No nookie in our house either, for the forseeable future! Poor DH had to get circumsised on Thurs last week, and is still unable to even put boxers on, let alone anything else! He's been told no sex/masturbation for 5-6 weeks, then I bet I'll be too elephant like to be very bothered about it! (Nobady tell him I told you though, he's very embarassed about the whole thing!)

Ellie, your wool arrived about an hour ago, I'm got about 4 rows of a the hood for a little jacket to finish, then I'll get started on your blanket. The wool is gorgeous, really soft and a beautiful colour.

Sorry Guys have been away for a few days while DH was in USA on business.

We've not really got very far with nookie for whole pregnancy. I was far to tired to start with, then i had abdominal pain so everything was too painful, now i just feel so huge we try and give up!

Oh well at least he seems to understand most of the time!

Ellie - I think it's understandable to feel a bit and paranoid sometimes. I do too - DH is younger than me anyway and he's currently training to be an accountant so he spends a lot of time with 22yo trainees - sometimes I get worried they're all younger, thinner and brighter than me.

But then I remember I'm the one carrying his much-loved child, and I know after DD1 was born our sex life picked up again after the birth and everything was good once more! (Sorry for tmi!)

Is anyone planning to put a mattress protector on their bed soon? I didn't last time and my waters broke in bed so I'm wondering whether a plastic protector might be a plan. Or is that just being silly?

Report
scorpio1 · 28/01/2008 11:28

im going to put a pampers bed mat under my side after about 35 weeks. though last 2 times waters have only broken about 10 mins before they came out so...

Even spoons makes my pelvis huuuuuuurt now. As with Denny, I bf and DH never got an eyeful last time. By the time you feel like nookie after the birth you'll have a reasonable idea of how squirty/leaky you are likely to be, anyway.

Last time put a plastic tablecloth under sheet on my side (too mean to buy proper protector) -- my waters actually broke all over the floor when getting out of bed, so don't know how it would have coped with actual in-bed breakage. I'll probably get a proper protector this time in case of repeat performance. There is a LOT of fluid involved (although DS wasn't engaged, so I probably got more than the normal amount actually coming out given there was no baby to plug the gap).

I have to admit I am feeling better on the low-GI diet. I'm not getting what I now realise were probably blood sugar peaks and crashes in the course of the day (didn't realise I was getting them until I wasn't IYSWIM). So at least I can see that all this asceticism is doing me and the baby some good. My diabetes midwife appointment is tomorrow so I'll see what comes up there -- I'm expecting to have to check blood sugar seven times a day for the next week or two as an absolute minimum (ouch, my poor fingers...).

Oh I love MN. Is so nice to have people to share worries with and them actually understand - none of my closest friends are having babies, I am the first one and so I don't really think they would get problems like this.
Feel better now thanks folks x

Hopefully if your feeling better on the GI diet it means that blood sugars are more stable, maybe you'll get away with no treatment if u can keep it controlled. Good luck with your app tomorrow.

Ive just had to bath DS in the sink, he poo'd in the bath last Tue (first time wev'e ever had a floater) anyway he freaked so much and hasnt got back in again, he just stands sobbing at the door to get back out the bathroom. Hopefully this phase will pass soon.

Oh Denny ... poor DS. Your story made me feel very for him. My DD is just a month older than your DS and my heart goes out to her so much at the moment. She's so confident about trying things, but when she gets a knock back I realise she's still just a baby. It must be such a hard stage to go through.

As for spontaneity in the sack and all the chat on that subject, this has to be the worst time for that kind of thing. My DH worries too much to be overly keen so it's all down to me at the moment. And with working full time, and most evenings falling asleep long before he's even considered bed, there are limited opportunities!

DD is in a big bed now too so we have to be extra careful as she's no longer fully contained. Goodbye spontaneity!!

[ellie]
What you're feeling is completely normal, DP changes from being madly lusting after me and my 'womanly body' and being scared he's going to hurt baby!!

Been hospital today, everythign is still fine, just low iron so need to take some pregnacare.

have they shed any more light on your vbac? i switch between being positive about HB to being scared that im 45 mins away from hospital, and therefore help.

They havent mentioned the VBAC since just said I can discuss delivery options at 38weeks, so hopefully if it all stays the way it is there shoudlnt be a problem.

Iron was 12.8 at booking in, gone down to 10.7 so quite a bit lower, apaprently though they prefer not to give you irno tablets until it's lower than 10.5 so theyve asked me to take the pregnacare to see if it puts it up, I have loads in the cupboard anyway I was taking it when ttc and at the beginning but had to stop because it made me more sick when I had the HG.

DP's in a great mood, just ahd a phone call from the police recruitment, he has passed the application and paper sift (about 80 out of 800 do) and has been invited to attend the assessment centre, so if he passes that and his fitness test he gets to be a copper, something he has wanted to do for ages, fingers crossed he passes!

wow vs-dp thats brilliant! so exciting.

DH often gets it into his head about trying out for firefighter, they are recruiting this Sept, but the pay is a lot less than what he earns self-employed builder-ing now. So he is staying where he is for me thoguh - no uniform!

good about vbac

Hurrah for Mr VS! And thanks for the ((()))

Lovely name scorpio. I was chatting to elliebean while in the bath last night and pondering Grace for a second name. I think Molly Grace D... has a nice ring to it.

Oh Ellie, don't worry! Of course he still fancies you. It's weird, though. I wonder if I would fancy DH if he looked like he'd swallowed a bowling ball ? Also recommend spoons, is OK for pelvis if I put pillow between knees. We have sex once a week, twice max - tiredness and at the weekends no time in the morning/day!

Scorpio, your DH sounds lovely! Cheer up, it'll all be OK. Your name for Millie is beautiful.

VS, DP a copper, eh? We'll all have to be on our best behaviour...

I am skiving work today. Feel quite bad but not too bad. Had a lovely morning with DD and then took her to nursery as she was asking for all her friends (and I fancy an afternoon sleep - getting really knackered again now...).

My boobs always squirted during sex but just wore a bra with pads in. On bras, I have a lovely Elle MacPherson one called 'la Mer' - is cheaper if you order it from Australia, apparently (my friend got it for me).
