PAL, You know what to do, dont let them force you, I've been told they want me laboured by 38wqeeks but I've told them that unless monitoring shows a problem it aint happening.

I really like Sumer, but DP's surname is Stone and I think Summer Stone sounds a bit crap.
I like Amber too, but again same reasoning.

The thing is, there is an increased risk of stillbirth with GD with expectant management rather than early induction -- just that I don't think (need to go away and re-read the background paper) that the analysis/research has been done to distinguish between GD-controlled-by-diet and GD-requiring-insulin in terms of birth outcomes, so it winds up down to guesswork which is always a bit scary when it comes down to something as important as this.

I'm only seeing the diabetes midwife next week, anyway, so I'll be able to get an idea of her reaction and be better prepared for seeing the consultant at 36 weeks. It'll be useful to see what my levels were on the GTT, too -- if they were terrible then I'll almost certainly wind up on insulin in which case I'm completely happy with a 38-week c/s, but the more borderline they were the more I'm prepared to push for letting me go to term. I think I'm resigned to not being able to go past 40 weeks, though.

scorpio -- lovely pics!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 24/01/2008 11:26

You looked beautiful Scorpio - love your dress and fur shrug!

VS - my surname is Paton so think Summer Paton sounds quite good!

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 11:34

Apparently there is an increased risk of stillbirth with the placenta thingy I have after 38weeks too, but no-one can give me proper stats on it, which is rather annoying, I want to be able to make my mind up properly.

I think Summer is a great chocie, and goes much better with your surname than mine.

Cheers for the cake Scorpio, just have to vomit first, brb.

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 11:35

Summer is lovely.

VS, have you given up on Roxie?

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 11:43

Dunno, I still really like it but I think it's going to become quite common after Eastenders, Ruby did and Bethany after Corrie, as soon as a name is used on a TV show everyone seems to use it and I dont want that, Leah however I know no-one called it and though we thoguht it was quite simialr to Ella, If we shortened it ever we'd probably call her Lea (said Lee) and we call Ella 'Els' so maybe not so similar, plus Ella's name is actually Danni-Ella, (she hates it though)
Oh, I dont know, I just hope it's a boy!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 24/01/2008 12:10

Thank you ladies for that little vote of confidence in the name I love! So glad I aired it here and not in the nasty Baby Names forum!

Scampmum · 24/01/2008 13:33

Beautiful pictures! Congratulations again, Scorpio.

Poor you, Ellie. I don't know how you do it.

I am having a really emotional day today. Nothing apart from hormones and tired and anxious because poor DH was up all night with norovirus - DD and I seem OK so far but a) don't want to catch it as paranoid about going into prem labour and b) keep having visions of all three of us having it simultaneously and wondering what in god's name we would do! Plus feel a bit guilty about taking DD to nursery, though she had no symptoms. Don't feel guilty about work as generously offered to stay at home (so as not to infect anyone ), and they declined.

40 days (working) left at work seems like 40 too many today. At least it's Thursday.

I want a hot cross bun.

Oh, and my step-cousin's daughter is a Millie Grace - it's a beautiful name.

And I think Olive is really cute, Sagitta!

Haven't ventured onto the name threads but might do it now. My boss is pissing me off (how unusual) so will wait until he's walking past.

SuzeM, I think our bumps are quite similar sizes. I'm a week behind you, though, and what I wear seems to make a massive difference! Black today, still in mourning for poor Heath.

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 13:37

How frustrating - our internet connection went down at work just before lunch and I lost contact! Just had a lovely catch up while I munch on my chicken sandwich and salt & vinegar chipsticks. I'll have an orange after to try and have at least one nutritious thing.

Scorpio - how lovely that you got to share your day with all 3 of your boys. I love the photo with you all together. Such a handsome family !

And Suze - you look fab! Where was your photo taken? It looks exciting.

My DH has now suggested that he has final say over the middle name and I have final say over the first name (it kind of worked the other way with DD). Could be interesting!

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 13:55

see ,thats 2 Millie Graces on here already....

EllieG · 24/01/2008 14:01

Aw lovely pics scorpio, you looked smashing x

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 14:03

Honestly Scorpio, I haven't come across any other Millies, let alone Millie Grace's in real life. The ones I have heard of have just been people shouting Millie to their little girl in coffee shops or somewhere like that. There aren't any Millie's in my circle of friends (and there are LOADS of babies - the majority of them are girls), and none at her nursery either.

Names become popular because people like them but that's a good thing. But having a popular name doesn't normally cause too many problems that I know of.

EllieG · 24/01/2008 14:07

I know a little girl called Mille and she is sooooo lovely and I think her name is gorgeous.

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 14:18

Everyone loves a Millie Scorpio . Don't let it put you off!

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 14:19

We are deffo having a Millie though, it has stuck hasn't it!
