VS, we're considering Leah for our little girl too - dh is very keen, I'm not sure. I like Olivia but he hates it.

Millie Grace is lovely. I really like Amelia too but it doesn't go with our surname.

PortAndLemon · 24/01/2008 14:31

I'm not allowed chips.
Or cake.
Or chicken sandwich (unless the bread is either rye or stuffed with seeds).
Or even salt and vinegar chipsticks.

Can anyone tell that I'm still feeling sorry for myself?

Have lots of lentils and chickpeas and so forth on order from Ocado...

SuzeM · 24/01/2008 14:41

PortAndLemon, just think how healthy you will be!

Northeastmummy, thank you! That photo was taken in the Alhambra. Scampmum, LOL at mourning Heath!

I am so bored of my maternity wardrobe and at the moment I can't wear dresses or skirts because of puffy ankles so options are very limited.

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 14:50

Sorry PAL . If it helps, I would actually prefer to be eating healthy GI friendly food - I'm just too lazy and keep taking the easy option. I'm sure I'll regret it later.

Suze - me too. I hate all my maternity clothes now. I really want to buy a bunch of new stuff but feel it's a bit late in the day. How many weeks are you? I had puffy ankles from 28 weeks last time (which eventually became puffy everything!) and am dreading it. I keep checking them every morning and so far so good. We're off to the canaries in 3 weeks and I'd really like it if I wasn't too puffy to wear a swimsuit!

SuzeM · 24/01/2008 16:23

Northeastmummy, I am 28 weeks now. I got away lightly up until now. I hadn't even thought about the puffiness spreading, eek!

Maybe I need a new handbag to detract from my puffy ankles and boring wardrobe.

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 16:23

Oh Gosh, I love chicken salad sarnies with proper seedy type bread.
I mgiht go into the bakery to get one tomorrow.

Suze, that aint a bump! You look lovely btw.

Picallili, I really like Olivia too, DP's brother is Oliver and when I mentioned names to his mum she even said how much she liked Olivia and that if she'd had a girl instead then Oli would have been Olivia. DP doesnt like it though, apparently he called his brother it when he used to take the mick out of him

ooh handbags, my fave subject!

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 16:43

Not quite handbags, but sort of along the same lines - is anyone on here a sling expert? We had a borrowed baby bjorn for Millie and used it about once because she hated it. I'd really like to get a sling that baby can lie in but have no idea what makes are good and haven't tried any - I haven't even really seen any in real life. Just online!

Any advice?

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 16:47

I bought a freedom pouch ring sling from ebay the other day, it looks great, really easy to put on, I've tried it with dolls etc and can see I will be able to feed baby in it easily can be worn by different sized people, can go in washing machine and tumble dryer etc.
I even put DS (3!!!)in it, he loves it, next time we go for a hike I'm taking it with me just incase he gets fed up.

I'd recc it to anyone so far, but remember I ahvent put my baby in it yet, just baby annabel!

Scorpio - great wedding pic's you look fabulous

PortAndLemon · 24/01/2008 16:57

My personal preference is for a sling that distributes the weight evenly across your back and shoulders, because anything else knackers my back. Slings like that include the Didymos, Hug-a-bub and Close Baby Carrier. You can certainly do a lying-down carry with a newborn in the Didymos or Hug-a-bub, and I suspect also in the Close Baby Carrier (although I've never actually used one of those... my fingers are itching to get a nice cheerful red one, though). The Moby wrap is apparently very similar to the Hug-a-bub, too.

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 17:01

I was a bit weary of the one I boguht for that very reason PAL, I was amazed at how little I could feel of DS in it though, so hopefully will be the same with baby.

PAl ic an outdo you on the sympathy tjhing- dietician recommends that I have no dairy or glurten for the entire time I am BF

She recommends it for now as well but am stoically ignoring her until birth

Peachy · 24/01/2008 17:20

NEm the other sling i'd recommend is the one I have (got it because my sis uses for her ds born in november and he looks so happy in it!), its a close baby carrier- www.closebabycarrier.com, and so very soft!

PortAndLemon · 24/01/2008 17:25

You will be allowed chips, though...

Peachy · 24/01/2008 17:27

except many in palces like take aways are coated in flour for crisp[iness

And no cake

EllieG · 24/01/2008 20:51

Oh God. You poor things. I think I would die if I didn't have access to refined carbs.

I've bought a freedom pouch sling but have no idea about it's usefulness. My teddy liked it.

I'm getting v bored of my maternity wardrobe too - good idea about getting some new accesories, as can't really justify buying new maternity stuff just for a few months. I do feel like a bit fat frump at times though [sigh]

Left work at 2.30 today and went home and slept all afternoon - bliss. Damn stomach pains won't let up and they're really beginning to get me down, though I know there's nothing seriously wrong which is a good thing.

I really must stop moaning. Sorry folks

chipmonkey · 24/01/2008 22:13

Scorpio, love the wedding pics! Your dress was fab!

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 23:30

Ellie, I feel like I'm in constant pain too, like my belly is actually stretched and not big enough for baby anymore iyswim. Not nice

I have just had a cheese and onion crisp sarnie though

Good dinner VS! I had quiche and chocolate. Probably doesn't help the tummy ache but since nothing seems to I may as well!

knitter - have emailed you - wool is being sent today hurray hurray

Am off to ante-natal in a bit - get to hear the heartbeat. I love that

Soph73 · 25/01/2008 09:27

Morning all. Took a sickie yesterday as throat & ears are still hurting like mad Love your pics Scorpio Who was thinking of Hannah? I think that´s a lovely name. Sorry to all of you with dietary restrictions - don´t know what I´d do if had to cut things out. EllieG - have fun at ante-natal

EllieG · 25/01/2008 09:42

Poor soph - hope your ears etc clear up soon. [passes some virtual tea and biscuits]

SuzeM · 25/01/2008 10:41

VS, thanks. Bump is expanding by the day!

My friend was going to give me her Baby Bjorn carrier. Are all those slings you mentioned better? I just want it for the airport/tubes.

Soph, get well soon.

Has anyone used the Silver Cross Cruiser? It sounds like it is light and good for cities.

scorpio1 · 25/01/2008 10:44

Morning

Reilly has a teacher training day today, so he is at home. making stupid noses and faces for the last hour

What am i going to do for 6 weeks in the summer?? with 3 of them??

carpet cleaners are coming in a bit, then i have parent-teacher meeting at school at 2pm. fun fun fun.

sagitta · 25/01/2008 10:47

That makes me feel better Scorpio. I've just booked DD into nursery for a full day on Friday, starting today. It was a half day and I was feeling a bit sad I won't see her till later, and won't give her her tea.
But now I've remembered that I won't have to entertain her this afternoon! No silly faces, no trashing the place...
