Oh i wouldn't worry about her going for half a day, she will probably love it!

Jamie goes every morning apart from wednesdays, until 3.30 on tuesdays and until 5 on thursdays (uni day). he really likes it and i need the rest, and my uni time too.

Am thinking of reserving a space for Millie for after xmas, just a morning a week, 9-12. Just to get some actual me time every week, and im not going to feel bad about 3 hours a week

sagitta · 25/01/2008 10:59

DD now does four full days a week. And I was thinking about LO going from 3 months, but DH is not so sure. What do you reckon is the maximum amount a 3-6 month old can be at nursery for?

sagitta · 25/01/2008 11:01

That makes me sound like such a horrible mummy - but I'm self-employed and get no maternity pay, so really need to go back to work ASAP...

scorpio1 · 25/01/2008 11:03

i would reckon about 3 days would be ok you would want a couple of days in the week off i expect for baby clubs, etc.

Sheds75 · 25/01/2008 11:17

Morning All..... ahh Friday at last. I had a day working from home yesterday after my Growth scan. Was really great to see him as he will be , apparently he has big feet(6cm) and long legs, weighing in at 1768g. So all is well here, hope everyone is feeling ok

sagitta · 25/01/2008 11:17

When it comes to it though, I probably won't be able to. 3 months is so small. maybe a couple of half days to begin with...

Sheds75 · 25/01/2008 11:20

Sangitta do you not get the Maternity Allowance ?? I've had to do that as I haven't worked with my present place for long enough to get SMP

sagitta · 25/01/2008 11:31

I think so - but it's not very much and I might not be able to claim it for very long - because of outstanding contracts, IFSWIM. Last time I got the princely sum of £7.14 for my whole maternity leave.

sagitta · 25/01/2008 11:32

By the way, Congrats on growth scan - sounds lovely!

Peachy · 25/01/2008 11:43

Suze, we ahd a babybjorn for the last 2- DH adored it. I used it quite often but I have back issues (why I can never have an epidural- even for CS- scar tissue on vertebrae). It didnt aggravate it mind, just didnt want to risk.

Do think they're good though, just fancied something more hipyish this time

northeastmummy · 25/01/2008 11:55

I think it maybe depends a bit on the baby. We had a baby bjorn for DD and she hated it - I don't think she liked being squished in facing us (she's always been a bit nosey). Thanks for all the advice on slings everyone. I'll hopefully get a chance to browse a bit this afternoon. I think I want one that has as many options as possible so that hopefully something will work.

Peachy - I'm not sure if i think that's a good thing or a bad thing that you can't have an epidural! I suppose it takes temptation away - but does that mean you have to have a general for a section? I have a scar on my lower back from surgery but they've said they can still give me an epidural - they just have to place it differently. I really wanted one last time but the anaesthetist was busy and in hindsight I'm glad I didn't get it. I'm not convinced I won't one again this time though!

Soph - I'm thinking about Hannah for our LO. Glad you like it .

scorpio1 · 25/01/2008 11:58

Hannah seems like quite a popular choice , though not for me, i knew a Hannah once who was very me me me and that has put me off.

Sheds75 · 25/01/2008 12:06

whilst we are on advise, I have been looking for an electric breast pump and have been told the Meleda is very good, are there any others I sholuld be looking at?

scorpio1 · 25/01/2008 12:13

is it ellie who hates marmite??

am currently devouring lots of marmite sarnies

Peachy · 25/01/2008 12:27

sagitta- dont feel bad, when i had ds1 and ds2 maternity rules were different and I was back by the time they were 9 weeks old. You just have to do the best you can with what works for your family

Peachy · 25/01/2008 12:30

medela pumps were the ones recommended by the UNICEF BF advisor (and a big star in the ABM) who did my training course, i think they must be pretty good tbh.

Yes I'd have a general for a c-section as the scar is actually on the spinal disc- a common problem in old aldies apaprently that i got at 15 through being a stubborn cow! (they put me in a competition at school against a boy I had just dumped to doa s manys eat drops on a trampoline as possible; I managed several hundred and sustained lifelong damage- and deserved it PMSL).

VictorianSqualor · 25/01/2008 13:53

I used the toys r us bruin electric breast pump with DS, was only £25 as well, which I was rather pleased with!

[pulls face at marmite] yuk

Mollyfloss · 25/01/2008 14:43

Hello Ladies,

I wouldn't ask too many people about what they think of you ideas you have for names. You'll always find someone who doesn't like it.

I don't know what to make of the wieght thing anymore. I thought I was huge after putting 2 stone and now everyone is telling me I''m neat and slim etc. Someone told me 'you're tiny' and that actually worried me. I'd prefer to be called huge! Anyway, a lot of my friends have snapped back into shape pretty fast after giving birth and most of them claim it's down to breastfeeding or just being too busy looking after a new baby. Some are even below their pre perganacy wieght! It still seems a bit unbelieveable that I will ever be slim enonugh again to fit into my old jeans.

Is it true that you can even lose some weight in the last few weeks before you give birth? (because you just can't manage to eat as much)

northeastmummy · 25/01/2008 15:13

Wow Peachy - it might not be very nice to have but what a story!!

Soph73 · 25/01/2008 15:27

Thanks for your get wells Am going to veg out this weekend & try & get some proper sleep. Am manically busy at work as well I'm going to have to put Sam in nursery full-time by the time he´s 4 or 5 months as we can´t afford for me to have more time off. Am really not looking forward to that but needs must.

Soph73 · 25/01/2008 15:28

Anyway, nearly home time so I shall love you and leave you. Have good weekends everyone. Am going to start making my list of shopping items for Feb
