Happy Birthday VS

NE you only need to take a GTT test if you are prone to get Gestational Diabetes so if it runs in the family , you had it in a previous pregnancy or your overweight i have to have one for two of the above! mines booked for 7th feb!

EllieG · 09/01/2008 16:31

Oh no I will probably have to have one of them then. Bugger.

AND, as if it could be any worse, they wont let you drink or eat anything for an hour afterwards, so you have to hang around the hospital doing fack all with this horrid taste in your mouth and feeling incredibly sick
So far they havent asked me to do it this time, but they did with DS

I was just about to ask about the glucose test because I haven't had it.

I have been offered a seat on the tube every day this week, I think reading "The Baby Whisperer" helps!

I finally got through to St Thomas' and I am going to stick with them and have my midwife appoinments there. Maybe I'll just not mention the fact that I missed the 20 week appointment and didn't have the glucose test, it doesn't sound too pleasant!

I had a glucose test on ds1. My blood sugars were very high on a blood test but I know it was because I had a monster breakfast in Bewley's on Westmoreland St before I went for it. Suze, Baby Whisperer excellent for getting a seat on the tube but not great for breasfeeding advice, most of what she says is wrong! Also never got the pick-up-put-down thing either, ds3 was not amenable to this!

Oh Sorry, meant to say Happy Birthday VS and mines a virtual Baileys on Ice!

Mmm, Bewley's, I spent a lot of time in there instead of at lectures. Those were the days!

Thanks Chipmonkey, I'll take her advice with a pinch of salt.

I've never ahd a glucose test either, sounds like that's a bonus!

had MW appt today- last at Surgery! I mean, HOW fast si this going?? All OK- baby measuring exactly right (so that Obstetrician now satisfied), bloods doen for iron etc and all that. BP actually dropping- if I hadn't seen it for meself, i'd swear it was a girl LOL!

Next appt at home, with home birth planning and entonox ordering to do!

She was really good about filling in forms for the Uni, to try and get an extension on the essay I got in 10 days late when I was ill. She also found it V V amusing that if they don't give me the extension, I will get my retribution- chap on Uni panel lives next door, we have no double glazing so will just notch the noise up a few degrees and educate him in childbirth LOL

Hi All. I'm new here but I was wondering if I can just join any antenatal club??

Anyway, I'm due April 08. We (husband and I) haven't found out the sex yet but will do on the next scan if possible - I have to get my placenta checked as it was low on the previous scan. Hopefully it has moved to a better location as I really don't want to have a caesarian!!

Happy Thursday to you all.

Welcome Siikinam!

There is diabetes in my family so would be a bit more at risk of getting gestatinal diabetes but I understood from my doctor that everyone gets the glucose test... might be worth looking into.

I only had a glucose test ebcause of blood test results and large baby measurements last time, so I dont think it is something that is done routinely, this is my third after all and I've only had it once, and Peachy is on her 17th and hasn't had it

My Indian was DELICIOUS, I even had two small bottles of cobra came home for dessert though I want to eat icecream out of the tub in my pj's

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VS! Hope you have had a lovely day and have a fantastic remainder of evening.

Been strangely silent (for me, threadhogger extraordinaire, queen of the multiple long post) for a couple of days preparing for then doing this horrible all day meeting where the whole team has to present and get third degree off bosses - SO glad it's over (and even went quite well) that I put our last bottle of Christmas champagne in the fridge!

Welcome silkibam, hope the placenta has moved- it usually does I think, in one of my many, many pregnancies I think it was a worry (blardy VS- 4. That's all, including this one. 4)

LOL!

Actually glad its all getting close to the end- ds3 started school ythis week part time and I need something to take my mind off it (barring my disssertation obv LOL)

Hello y'all and welcome siikibam! Is nice here. Especially if you don't mind talking about food a lot.

Glad your Indian was nice VS x

I had a big hormonal cry this evening - general I am a rubbish step-mummy and will be rubbish actual-mummy stuff. DP was lovely bless him. Still feel a bit fragile though I know I had no major reason for feeling so insecure. Think am just tired. Early night is perhaps in order.

Poor Ellie! I'm sure you're a great step-mum and will be a fabulous Mum too!
Although bear in mind that most of us here are terrible mothers who spend most of our time on MN instead of doing jigsaws with the children and the children still turn out OK!

Morning all! Hope you had a lovely evening VS. I'm going to try to go for a swim at some stage today. I'm trying to be motivated this week and do some exercise. I've had lower back pain and swimming is supposed to help and also because I have put on more or less 12 kilos which I think is what most people put on for the entire pregnancy!

I went to aqua natal last night and my hip was killing me by the end, so be carful. I think they say to avoid breast-stroke type leg kicks if you have any pelvic girdle pain. Overall, I do feel better for going though.

Report
Mollyfloss · 10/01/2008 10:01

I have a really low back pain on the left hand side, sort of at the top of my bum. That's not considered pelvic girdle painis it? I'm asking because I do tend to do breast stroke...

Also, is it ok to do back stroke? As we are not supposed to lie flat on our backs in bed I'm wondering if it's ok in the water....?

Report
Peachy · 10/01/2008 10:02

I'd agree with Ellie, the pool at butlins made me feel a lot worse but I think that was an over aggressive wave amchine- a normal pool should be OK. The Butlins one was enough to buffet me around for a while, and get grazes on my legs from it!
