Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

Congratulations leesmum - fantastic news and welcome to James

Sorry to hear about your mum mana...leave her to stew in her own juices!

Alkar, I'm starting to get sore boobs now...guess they're getting ready to become udders...

yehudiwho - thanks for coming on and for your message...I remember back in June and it was really awful - you are so brave and I hope things work out for you.

Have threatened DH with his task of having sex to kickstart things and he's bottling big style! Thinks he will hurt little crumb's head...yeah, right, no chance mate!!!!

Went back for my maternity app on the right day this time (it SHOULD have been tues PK!) and all well...not seeing her again for another 2 weeks which is three days before D-Day!

Gill79 · 22/01/2008 19:29

Tyaca pineapple curry is about as appealing as the idea of a shag at the moment (and that is Not At All). Given that LO currently wedged in sideways will probably not be giving any of the bringing on labour methods a go!

Good Evening ladies!

I have had a fab day today. Absolutely nothing to do with pregnancy or getting the house sorted or anything like that. I joined Facebook a little over a week ago out of curiosity and after just one day and old friend from my early teenage years popped up to say hello. The next thing I knew there were several of my old friends from around the same time sending me friends requests and It's been lovely catching up with them all and recounting past events together. Anyway, one of them was in contact with yet another of our friends who doesn't have access to a pc and he lives really close to where I'm living so I passed on my mobile number to him. He came over for a cuppa today (and allowed himself to be roped into helping me do a bit of shopping at Lidls) and it has been lovely just chatting about what we've been up to over the last 15 years.
God I miss the 90s! Na, It was a lovely break from being in the house all day by myself and it was great to see a friend from a really happy time in my life. As a total bonus, not one comment was made about my bump he didn't even stare at it (an action I've caught several people doing which I find a tad annoying!)He knew from our phone conversation that I was pregnant and that I could have the baby anytime in the next four and a half weeeks and obviously felt that was all that needed to be said about it. What a relief!

Slacker - You sound so well at the moment and so together, despite the denial! It's great to read!

lailas - I think you should go to your GP and get the rash looked at. It is probably just nothing more than uncomfortable but I'm a firm believer in better safe than sorry! In some ways I am really jelous of those of you ladies who get to have later scans (obviously in respect to the fact that there is usually a reason for these scans it's reserved jelousy!)I still gaze at my 20 wk scan dreaming of what my baby's like now!
I suppose with hubby anxiety it's a case of six of one and half a dozen of the other! He seems to have chilled out a little bit and I think we've reached a happy medium of just nervous enough!

mana - ok so you mom does sound a little self involved, to put it mildly. I definately agree with the arms length approach and the mental note not to expect anything from her and then when and if she does give you some support it's a bonus! I know it can be hard to separate yourself from this kind of emotional thing though and you know you've got our support if nothing else even though we are on the other side of a computer screen! keep well and try not to let her get to you.

lees - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! hope you and James are doing well. Looking forward to the birth story!

ginger - glad to hear you're uti is clearing up and that Toby has been discharged and at such a good weight too!

Gill - Lol at the wickipedia service! thanks though! Did you wipe the mildew off with bleach? if not get to it! The bleach kills any spores that may be remaining. Glad to hear that it may only be a condensation problem and nothing more serious. You don;t need to put the heating on more. My mom had the same problem in her old flat. All you have to do is make sure you leave enough room for air to circulate between any item and the wall and check it periodically for mildew incase something has accidentally got too close to the wall. if you can have a window open to increase air flow for an hour or so a day it is also a good thing.
On the subject of green energy providers. We're with Good Energy for our electric. They aren't too unreasonable price wise and all the energy they provide is from renewable sources.
Lol at the Page 3 boobies! Hope your LO moves into a more appropriate position by himself!

lailasmum · 22/01/2008 19:33

not sure as I could stomach enough pineapple to kick start things, you have to eat loads, like seven whole pineapples or something and it has to be fresh not canned or just juice probably because pasteurising them kills the enzyme so cooked pineapple in curry would be no use anyway, but the curry might.

lailasmum · 22/01/2008 19:36

Pk - Think my scan is just to double check the presentation as I plan a home birth but yes its nice to get a late scan am taking my dd as she is very attached to my bump and really likes hospitals and medical things so will be a good afternoon out for her!

CountTo10 · 22/01/2008 19:50

Yipeeee!! Congrats leesmum, fantastic news, hope you and James are recovering well x

Mana - sorry this thing with your mum is not getting resolved it must make things really difficult. You've got to remember though that right now you are the most important thing and she just needs to get over herself a bit - not that I want to mean to your mum!!

I suddenley feel like time is on standstill and these last couple of weeks is taking aaaaaaaaages!!! I just want a baby!!!!!!!!

Hi Teejay. It's very kind of you to think of us.

DH and I are still managing a bit of bedtime fun - but it's getting more difficult with a bump in the way.

PK - i would speak to your midwife about DP. I can understand he may be slightly anxious about forthcoming events, but he seems to be almost in a state of panic.

Lucy - am getting a bit forgetful too. Went to shopping centre and went to incorrect car parking level twice - thought car had been nicked!

Mana - you've done the right thing. Well done.

Bessie - how is your time off work? The staff in John Lewis (Brent Cross) nursery dept recognise me! I don't mind. Having to buy nursery stuff means i have to walk around the shopping centre. I get the car out and it drives itself!

Am also having trouble sleeping. I wake up at 5 am for a few hours then go back to sleep till 10 am.

LOVEMYMUM · 22/01/2008 20:31

Leesmum and family: Congratulatins! Love the name (James is one of the boy names I have picked out in case LO is a boy).

Sarah - Glad you're feeling better after the past few weeks.

Gill - just take tomorrow as it comes.

Tyaca - yup, depression can certainly be overwhelming. I had a bad episode eight years ago following a relationship break-up and deaths in my family, combined with being overworked at work. I know that anti-depressants can be a controversial issue, but i know that Prozac and counselling helped me a lot, and if i ever need Prozac again, i won't hesitate to take it. It didnt' make me "overhappy", it made me feel normal. Thank you for being so open about your experience. My sister has a long-term depression, so i know how hard it is to live with this kind of situation.

beansprout · 22/01/2008 20:36

Hi everyone, so sorry I haven't posted sooner, I just haven't been able to get online. No news, other than am going in at 7.30am tomorrow... gulp!!

Have read most of the posts and don't have time to write much but congratulations to Leesmum and welcome to James!! I was very heartened to read that you are in love with him as I am fretting about me being enough mummy to go round at the moment.

I will ask Mr Beansprout to post and let you know how we get on!

Everyone else, take care and am completely with you in the "am so over being pregnant" club!! Get this baby out!!

LOVEMYMUM · 22/01/2008 21:10

Hi bean - lots of luck for tomorrow.

ayrshirelolo · 22/01/2008 21:55

Evening everyone, just a quicky to say Congratulations to Leesmum!!! Lovely name too.... let us know all the details when you're up to it! Apart from that just wanted to send everone a big virtual hug, think we're all pretty much bored with pregnancy now!! had a dh special thai curry for dinner, so hot it made my mouth numb! bump squirmed for a while, so i told him/her " if you're not happy in there tou know what you can do!" but don't think bump was listening!!
Mana don't really know what to say re your mum apart from agreeing with others that you have to decide whether to take the moral high ground and be the grown up or whether to just blank it until later on, either way you shouldn't be having this stress, mate.. not good for you or baby!
Pk - yeah, pregnancy does weird things to men, doesn't it? Dh keeps asking when he can have his wife back instead of this huge stupid snoring emotional woman! I know he's joking but i know what he means!!
Beansprout... hope everything goes according to plan for you tomorrow, look forward to hearing about everything!!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi to all, hope we all get some sleep.... lolox

manamana · 22/01/2008 23:00

Good luck bean although i expect you're tucked up in bed now although whether you can sleep or not is another matter - nervous/excited!!!!
Thanks for your post Tyaca, its still such an underdiscussed subject that many of my friends really didn't understand and I can't talk to them about my fears this time so its good to share virtually! I was lucky that my dh was very supportive and the ADs really helped - Lovemymum, you're right they just help you feel more normal again. My mw, gp and health visitor all know so i feel like i'm in good hands and poor dh is on constant alert, think he's more worried than me.
Tyaca your advice re mum is sound but fraid I am no saint and am just withdrawing from situation until baby is safely here.
Anyway, gotta go to bed and put feet up they have suddenly swollen and look lioke elephant feet!
Take care all x

Pk616 · 23/01/2008 04:38

Morning ladies,
Just having a moment of no sleep! A little bit of the old indigestion combined with restless legs and one of the cats sleeping at the foot of the bed on my side didn't help! Plus DP has rolled over to his back and is doing his best to get the neighbours back for playing their music unsociably load earlier on!

Ty - your pineapple curry link made me smile!

Poblet - I think it's a massive compromise but I haven't given up yet! There's an ex-catalogue baby store in town so they might have a similar one. I am scouring the planet before I give up but I am limited by price! This is the one I really want and this is the fall back. It's just not as pretty! Ah bless you for being so touched at having a mention. No problem lass! You may think I'm out of my mind but would it be possible for you to go and stay somewhere else until the building work is done or even for just a few days to get a break from it? It just seems to be really getting to you, understandably, and I don't think you need the stress right now. I'm glad to hear you were able to talk to a friend and get some of those emotions out of your system. A wise man (he was a priest)told me something when I was 6 (long story but basically evil boyfriend of mom had banned me from embarrassing everyone by crying at my grandma's funeral and I tried very hard but couldn't hold back the tears) that I've never forgotten:
"Never be afraid to cry, we all to sometimes. And it always helps to make you feel better."
I think it was a lovely piece of advice and I still follow it!

Jo - having reread your post later on in the day I thought there was a possibility I'd got the wrong end of the stick (I often do 'cause I'm dyslexic and I sometimes interpret things totally differently to how people expect them to be interpreted!) but I just couldn't be sure so I said nothing! Cutting it a bit fine isn't she! I'm not seeing my MW until next Tuesday and I suspect that the appointment after that will be 3 days before I'm due too! You know when I first found out I was pregnant I read several books and websites etc about pregnancy and the NHS protocals and stuff and I was lead to believe that if everything was running in a text book fashion you'd be seen in a set pattern - once a month then once a fortnight and finally once a week towards the end. It just doesn't work the way it does in print does it! Why do they bother to type lies?

Lailas - Great idea to take your DD I hope you both enjoy your day!

Count - Yeah, BRING IT ON BUMP! DP says I'm not allowed to go into labour until Friday otherwise he'll have to go back to work for a few days between his paternity leave and his booked annual leave though!

Sarah - Glad to hear you had a great day with Harry. I'm a bit miffed at not getting my jelly and icecream though!!!

Love - DP seems to have come back down to earth a little but I'm keeping my eye on him. If he starts to spiral out of control again I will definately get on the blower to someone, possibly the MW or the HV (MW is a bit of a cowbag), for a bit of advice. He did this when we first found out I was pregnant and pushed his BP up really high making himself really ill so I'm being very vigalent atm.

Bean - good luck for later on. I'll be thinking of you.

morningglory · 23/01/2008 07:00

Congratulations leesmum and welcome James!

Good luck to beansprout, and looking forward to seeing the birth announcement.

Gosh, things are really moving on this thread! I have my OB appointment today, and will find out if, indeed, I am going to be induced in 1 and a half weeks. I don't think I could put up with more!

PK: sorry about the cotbed compromise. I had a lovely one for DS1 with coordinating furniture, but somehow DH lost one of the rails in our move (only discovered a month ago). I was also in the situation of scurrying about trying to find an available compromise. Hopefully you'll find your bed (did you try kiddicare or some of the retailers on ebay?).

Sarah: glad that Harry had a good birthday, and that you were able to be there. At that age, birthday parties are the world to kids. DS still talk about his party from November!

mana: sorry to hear about the continuing problem with your mum. I think that you have the best approach...focus on yourself and the baby for now.

Uh-oh. DS is now up. Have a good day everyone!

Uggg. Don't think I could stomach pineapple curry. Spend half of last night dry heaving. The culprit? A chocolate brownie and a cup of decaf tea! The only thing I can eat nowadays are toasted bagels with cheese or butter and jam. Not very nutritionally sound, but everything else seems to upset my stomach. I feel like I'm in my first trimester again!

sarahmikeandharry · 23/01/2008 08:04

Hi PK-

sorry bout jelly and ice cream- You could have had some, but was very clumsy and dropped the jelly mould on the floor!!! much to everyones amusement!!!! so we just had iceceam!!!!!!

I have suddenly gone clumsy- drop everything i pick up- its reall quite annoying-

Hope it stops before lo arrrives or i could be in real trouble!!!lol

sarahmikeandharry · 23/01/2008 08:06

Good luck Beansprout- hope all goes well for you today

morningglory- hope you appt goes as you wish today also!!!

jooseyfruit · 23/01/2008 08:09

well done leesmum, my due date buddy!!
I'm not jealous at all!!!!!

I'm off to have a sweep and stretch on tues so hopefully things should get moving then, if they haven't already!!

Hope everyone o.k. Am very busy and stressed as my parents have been living with us since 30th Jan, it's all getting a bit much to be honest

littleoldme · 23/01/2008 08:39

Hello ladies. Please excuse the crash.

FREE TO A GOOD HOME
I've got a starter pack of cotton bottom washable nappies. There's about 10 squares and 2 wraps. They've hardly been used. Someone gave them to me I'd like to pass them to a good home.

If I put them on free stuff someone will probabaly take them and flog them so I thought I'd see if any of you lot wanted them.

Good luck

princessllama · 23/01/2008 09:30

poblet i am in same situation with builders.when asked if they were going to finish when they said they would they said'sort of' . also frightening increases in cost happening left right and centre for things that we want and told them but didn't have clear in writing .
lovemymum i had a funny dream last night-we had the london meet up in a disused hospital in oxford. after we waved goodbye to the others i was going to give you a lift. as soon we got into my car my waters broke and then almost immediately after yours did too . we then had to fight with the carpark attendant who was refusing to let us drive out of the carpark back to london to dhs and hospitals because he said the babies were crowning.-weird...

LOVEMYMUM · 23/01/2008 10:38

Hi Princess. Interesting dream!
Am sorry builders are driving you nuts.
Additional stress is the last thing we need now.

Lucyand2 · 23/01/2008 10:46

Congrats leesmum, James was our name of choice (until baby turned out to be a girl!)
I'm looking forward to reading your birth story and finding out how it all went.

Thankyou for the bump comments, I'm suprised how shiny it looks in the picture. I'm waiting in for my midwife whilst dealing with a whingy & tired DD who won't nap. I could do with one though!
My braxtons were so bad last night I had to pant through them

widgetsmummy · 23/01/2008 11:08

congrats leesmum!

thinking of you beansprout!

plodding on at work until Friday (yipee!). saw mw yesterday and all ok. borderline iron levels but promised to be good with my diet so she let me off iron supplements - am terrified of constipation - not fun!

hoping baby will come soon - its so hard not to wish the time away but just want my body back a bit. turning over in bed is such a palava. I'm like a surfacing whale! haven't suggested sex to DH yet but might have a go at the weekend... no idea if he'll like the idea or not!

sarahmikeandharry · 23/01/2008 12:26
