Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Anyone around? Having a slight panic and could do with some calming advice.
Midwife has just visited and she's worried baby is transverse as it has moved since last time. This could be caused by my lack of stomach muscles to hold baby in place and considering my situation she wants it looked at today. If baby is in the wrong postion they may pop my waters and try to move baby, or I could be looking at a c-section this week. As my BH are so strong she says labour could be imminent and very quick!
DP is rushing home and MIL is coming over to look after DD.
I bet after all this it will turn out to be nothing and I'll be back to waiting....I must admit that now the threat of imminent baby is here I'm feeling really shaky. I have to take my bags with me just in case.

jooseyfruit · 23/01/2008 12:45

Aww lucy, you know that all that is important is you get a beautiful healthy baby at the end, and that you would do anything to ensure that would happen. But you also have to be clear headed and think what you want to happen. Take some time to collect your thoughts, try not to panic (easier said than done i know).

You will be o.k. Talk things through and don't be pressured.

Thinking of you and sending calming vibes.

Lucy xx

leesmum · 23/01/2008 12:58

hi i have a spare 5 min to share all details...

as you lot know i had been having pains for a couple of days, which then stopped on the fri eve. I had a couple more in the night but that was it. On sat i felt loads of pressure but just put that down to all the pains i had been having and that baby was probably fully engaged.

Ds and i decided at 1pm to have a walk round to grandmas as she only lives a 10min walk away. While at my mums i had a couple more regular pains at about 2.30pm and although i was very matter of fact about them my mum had been timing them and they were 7 min apart

I was starting to feel more and more uncomfortable and took a couple of paracetamol and rang Dp up at 4pm to run me a bath and come and get me and ds.

Had a lovely bath and some tea and toast and finally rang delivery suite up at 5pm to tell them i was having pains every 4/5min and lasting about 1min and that i would be there within the hour.

me and dp picked my mum up and arrived at the hospital at 5.40pm, we went into one of the suites where i was examined and was told i was 5cm dilated, i must admit that at the time i was a bit dissapointed at not being further on than that.

i got stuck into the gas and air but after a couple more contractions they seemed to step up a gear and were quite painfull, i felt like i needed to push so the mw examined me again and said "go for it the heads coming out" well FOUR pushes later and there he was no stitches but a "labia graze"(and before anyone askes no i haven't been brave enough to have a look yet, it can't be that bad because i'm not in any pain)

So at 6.09pm on sat the 19th of jan half an hour after arriving at hospital!! he was here safe and well, all 6lb 12oz of him.

We had to unfortunately stay in for 24hrs though because james had pooed inside me and they wanted to make sure he hadn't inhaled any, but apart from that he's doing great, bf is going well, infact my milks come in today which makes things easier.

Lee loves his big brother and is going to help with his first bath tonight

Apart from sore boobs and tender fanny i'm doing great and loving being a mum again, i really could't wish for anything more.

so there you go girls, and for those first time mums you havent got long to wait for the REAL love of your life's.

Who was having a cs today? my mind's gone to pot, i must go back and read all posts properly, bye for now xx

leesmum · 23/01/2008 13:02

sorry, it took me that long to write everything i missed your post lucy. try not to worry make yourself a cup of tea and relax, i'm sure everything will be ok xxx

Slacker · 23/01/2008 13:16

Lucy if your baby is currently transverse, breaking waters sounds like a seriously bad idea (risk of cord prolapse amongst other things). Yes your muscles are slacker with subsequent babies so they can move around right till the end, but interfering when the baby is not in a good position is insanity IMO. When one of my babies was in an 'unstable lie' late on, the midwife wanted me to go into hospital and stay there till it was born, which I found a laughable idea but you might be more open to than I was....otherwise do your optimum fetal positioning (hands and knees) and it'll probably settle back to a longitudinal position. It absolutely is not the case that because the baby is transverse you need to intervene now. Actually, when this happened to me I did see the consultant and she was totally relaxed about it, it was the midwife who had panicked, so hopefully they'll be able to put your mind at rest later on. But breaking your waters with an unstable lie would be madness. All IMHO of course...

stempyandco · 23/01/2008 14:19

aww... leesmum, ta for that! you make it sound EASY, which i really needed to hear right now. was your mum secretly timing your contractions? if so, that's v funny. glad feeding and brotherly relations going smoothly. well done. am v jealous.

i'm not due til a month tomo and feel sooo far behind everyone... any other late febbers feel the same? i cant imagine having a baby anytime soon.

stempyandco · 23/01/2008 14:20

sorry and just to say lucy, deep breath, good luck and hope all will be fine. xx

sarahmikeandharry · 23/01/2008 14:34

wonderfull birth story, leesmum,

You seem to have settled baby james into family life with real ease.

Glad big bro is happy and willing to help- thats very reassuring!!!1

Nice to hear it went so well for you and you are feeling relativly good!!!!

LUCY I hope you are ok and not panicking too much, good luck at the hospital, i am sure everything wilbe ok for you.

Hope everyone else is well,

Stempy- i could not bear the thought of anther four weeks!!! sorry!!! DD is due in 10.5days and i am so ready(DS was born at 19 days early so i feel so ready to pop)- also really had this silly idea that because he arrived at 37+2 she would follow suit and am so diappointed to still be pregnant- !!!!! really want my baby now!!!!!! even DS tells her its time tobe born as he would like a cuddle!!!lol

Having said that i have enjoyed my pregnancy!!lol- most of it

LOVEMYMUM · 23/01/2008 15:15

Hi Lucy. My LO is breech at 34 weeks.
Am not having baby moved as there are too many risks involved (baby could be in distress, painful, may not work). If baby does not turn, please be open to the idea of a c-section.

Ex-employer hasn't declared my earnings and i have now spent 5 hours composing letter to Inland Rev and Fraud Dept to tell them what's been going on. No P45 submitted to Tax Office even tho i gave it to boss when i started work, still no Dec payslip. Still waiting full amount of holiday pay. Still no P45 on leaving job on Dec 20. Inland Rev have no record of me being employed by my boss!

Was employed for six months.
(Thread is on employment matters - "employer not paying holiday pay etc".)

violeta · 23/01/2008 16:15

lovemymum: doesn't sound like stress you need right now at all... Hope you get it sorted soon and the well-informed posters on the employment thread advise you well. What a nightmare for you... Make a HUGE fuss to get your money! Bombard them with letters/phone calls, etc. Don't be fobbed off...

leesmum: oh my god, your second stage was so quick... Now, I suppose as a first-timer I shouldn't really expect the same, no?!... Glad it all went well for you though!

lucy: hope your lo moves again before too long. Cyber calming waves heading your way - take it easy; I'm sure things will be resolved. You're very nearly there!

stempyandco: I know exactly what you mean! Us late-Feb due mums will inevitably be talking to ourselves in a few weeks or so! But you know they say that 37 weeks is full-term? You just never know...!

Jo9977 · 23/01/2008 16:23

Thinking of you lucy xx

And beansprout too - thinking of you.... xx

Leesmum - sounds like a wonderful birth story...always good to hear

MrBeansprout · 23/01/2008 17:13

Hi Feb thread, just to let you all know that Beansprout has delivered a beautiful baby boy, 9lbs 7oz

In contrast to our anxiety, the section couldn't have been simpler and ds2 is healthy, perfect and as quiet and contented as we could want, hopefully allowing Beansprout some much needed rest (wink). (hmmm perhaps not now that she'll be down on the ward. I'm at home looking after ds1 while her Mum & Dad visit).

Only downside so far is that ds1 can't see his brother until the weekend because of a total noro-virus ban on kids visiting the hospital, so we're kind of stalling on telling him. Not sure how long that can last but apart from occasionally asking 'is the baby out yet?' he seems more interested in how many different kinds of objects he can pick up with Cranky the Crane so I'm working on a 'need to know basis' and hoping it doesn't come back to haunt me.

Beansprout has has loads of support from you all over the months (and years) and so thanks from a v happy dh!

Lucyand2 · 23/01/2008 17:18

Been back from hospital for a while but not had chance to post, the midwife there couldn't find the head either (typical, a headless baby!) so she got me a scan straight away. Baby isn't transverse so a big sigh of relief there but she is pretty much engaged all the way. I could see the cervix right next to her head which was weird, the scan was quite boring apart from that as she's too big to see very much.
Since getting back I've had some very thick mucous though and I'm wondering if it could be a show, having some vague pains as usual.
Thankyou for all the good vibes - I must admit to feeling a slight sense of panic when I got to hospital and heard babies crying. Luckily everything seems fine though!

Lucyand2 · 23/01/2008 17:20

Congrats to beansprout, so pleased it all went well!

Lucyand2 · 23/01/2008 17:26

Added beansprout and altered my due date to the second as thats my EDD according to todays scan. Thank goodness there's less time to wait than I thought!

Great birth story Leesmum - sounds like you got to the hospital just in time. I'm glad things are going so well for you.

Beansprout - congratulations!! It's a shame you won't be able to see DS1 for a few days but I'm sure he'll be very excited when he does get to meet his new brother.

After not really being in a rush to have baby I'm a bit fed up today - really tired for some reason. 38 weeks on Saturday so the end is in sight. Hopefully I'll have more energy tomorrow as I felt like this on Monday then fine again yesterday.

Hope everyone else is ok too!

morningglory · 23/01/2008 18:00

What a calm, stress-free birth leesmum! I hope mine is as straightforward as yours this time.

Congratulations beansprout. Best wishes on the recovery, and hope you are home soon so big brother can meet little brother.

Saw consultant today, who did a cervical check. I am fully effaced, and baby is ready to move out. I'm booked in for my induction on the 4th! He said they probably would only have to pop my waters and he would come out soon afterward. No prostoglandin or pitocin necessary. PHEW! Now I just hope I can last until the 4th.

mymissus · 23/01/2008 18:04

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Beansprout!!

stempyandco · 23/01/2008 18:24

mr beansprout congrats to the original beansprout and to yourself and ds (even if he doesn't know what he's being congratted for!). many thanks for coming to tell us. what a big baby... pass on our well dones and we look forward to beansprout's return (tho' prob not as much you do....!)

Egg · 23/01/2008 18:25

Oh YAY to Beany and to Mr Beany too. Really do have only a few secs but wanted to see what happened. Fab news it was all so straightforward. Does Beany Jnr have a name yet? Good weight too! Nearly as much as both of mine together so no wonder she was uncomfortable.

Leesmum have not read your birth story yet but will peek later on my phone while feeding.

Lucy good luck, hope it all turns out to be a false alarm and baby is in right position.

Sorry if I have missed anything else important .

Oh, had a dream about you all last night! Beany's c-section had been moved from 7:30am to 11am so we had all got together for coffee beforehand to give her moral support!

tyaca · 23/01/2008 18:28

sorry guys, stempy is tyaca.... "trolled" for first time as was posting in the feeding thread some personal stuff and completley forgot to change back

sarahmikeandharry · 23/01/2008 18:29

congratulation Beansprout family, glad to hear all went well,

Look forward to hearing more real soon!!!

bluedomino · 23/01/2008 20:54

Congratulation Beansprout and Leesmum! Hurrah babies coming thick and fast now.
Been to see obs and midwife, both said that I'm showing signs of things moving (lots of mucousy discharge sorry if TMI) and lots of period pains. They are doubtful I will last until the 14th. Extremely tired now, and getting very blurred vision but can't summon up energy to go to optician, but I will try promise!
Got midwife to take bloods again as I'm not really feeling any benefit from the iron infusion.
Take care everyone.

ayrshirelolo · 23/01/2008 21:04

Congratulations Beansprout & Mr Beansprout (and ds beenie)!! pleased it all went so smoothly!
Hope everyone is ok today, Lucy glad the midwife got it wrong!
Not much to report, just feeling kind of squeemish and knackered and fed up today, but nothing especially labour like! Oh well, just need to develop patience although i'm rapidly running out and the January thread has only a few of us left!
Hope everyone is ok, wishing good sleep vibes to all, and good labour vibes to those impatient and ready!! lolo x

LOVEMYMUM · 23/01/2008 21:53

Hi family Beansprout - welcome to the world Beansprout Jnr. Thank you for posting Mr Beansprout. Can I ask, which hospital has the ban on kids visiting? I am at the Royal Free in Hampstead. Jolly good idea on banning children on maternity wards - you never know what kind of bug they may be incubating. Shame though that your DS can't see his younger brother.

Blue domino - what does your midwife say about the blurred vision?

Tyaca - yup - also getting a bit fed up. I want to meet my daughter! (OMG - I'm going to be a mum!)

Thanks Violeta. No point contacting ex-employer any more - she hasn't responded to three phone calls and two letters (including one saying "I believe her to be withholding money illegally". My union advised me to put that phrase in. Have sent payslips to Inland Revenue and to Inland Rev's fraud dept cos last time i looked, '6' and '813' were not tax codes. Inland Rev v interested in seeing my payslips and want to investigate further. Let her wriggle out of this one! With any luck, she may even get shut down!
