Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evening ladies, just checking everyone's ok! Leesmum how disappointing!! Hope you can get it all going again soon, have you tried going up and down stairs sideways? Something to do with opening the pelvis, i believe but might be a lot of boll*x!
Ty hope you've managed to get lo to wriggle a bit, ice cold water, chocolate (or something sweet) and lying on your left side can all help as beansprout says, or alternatively a bit of a prod can get baby moving!
Sarah how blardy annoying! as if you don't know your own body! Good luck collecting the pee.... i have great difficulty peeing anywhere near the sample jar now as i can't see anything south of the bump and bending in the middle is no longer a feasible option! Hope it's all ok anyway!
Mutha hope your friend is ok and so are you
Pk glad you found a solution to the cotbed dilemma! What did you decide to do in the end? Landing or sleep in living room?
Sympathy with everyone who is knackered / in pain / discomfort just now... bad night with dd last night, sobbing for an hour at 4am for no apparant reason - bad dream maybe! Cuddles at 4, 4.15. 4.30 and 4.45 (dh took turns... bless!!) and Calpol at 5 sent her back to sleep but by then bump was awake and doing the salsa for Scotland until 8am... ggggrrrrr!!!!! Oh well, the joys of motherhood! Hope everyone has a good night, lolo x

Redbush · 18/01/2008 21:57

Hi Ladies, finally managed to get back on and want to say BIG thank you for the kind words and a really BIG thank you to PK616 can't believe you spent time searching the web for me! Jaysthird I'm in the same boat as you (due 22nd Feb) with no2. My midwife is great and got straight onto hosp when she found out on Wed but they won't see me until I'm 37 weeks. Now due to see MW again in two weeks and she has assurance from hosp that they will see me if baby still breach. I think they will attempt to turn at that time. Have a friend who does acupuncture and she is going to try that next week. Also believe in homeopathy so may well try to follow that one up plus plan to go swimming. I know they can turn almost right up to the end but this baby feels quite large (no 1 was 8lb 10oz) and has never been very mobile so I suppose I'm not very confident. I also found out today I'm low on iron perhaps a boost in that direction will give beanie2 a bit more energy to get moving!!

Hope things get moving again for you both Leesmum and Sarah - it's going to be an exciting few weeks now.

Thanks again

Jo9977 · 19/01/2008 01:02

How annoying Sarah - hope things sort soon.

And hope all false starts in general turn into the real thing...I think a false start in this house would just about finish DH off - he's hiding it pretty well, but....he's pooing his pants!

tyaca · 19/01/2008 01:17

jaythird, i had to laugh at your comment about it being hard work keeping up with us ... if i were you i wouldnt go back too far with the reading of posts... at least half of it is inane hormonal ramblings... i'd cut thru it and get straight to the birth stories!

alterntively, just read PK's posts... her wonderful responses to everyone will be the best potted summaries you could ask for.

sarah and leesmum... grrr! how you tease us... a slightly selfish attitude to your nearly-labours i know, but i feel like my LO's a long way off coming and i need my itch scratched by proxy. good luck and keep us posted.

leesmum, was v impressed at the fact you though to post here before you thought you were going in! i hope everyone else is taking note at her committment to the feb thread cause...

egg - so lovely to sit down and read your birth story, glad it went well, and i confess a slightly relief that it was quite quick! the pictures are beautiful, really lovely. i hope you are being looked after.

egg and gill and everyone - i'd been assuming we'd have a post-natal thread too? ooohh... go on, go on, go on! gill, i'd love that cd, if that's ok??

not a very good day for me. it's the second time in a week that i've got myself really worked up. DH calls it "the melodramatics".... i think it should be renamed "the hysterics"...

by half two and every all the usual tricks, still no movement so i rang MW who said to go into antenatal assement unit. long and short of it is that everything is just fine. really ok.
but en route to finding this out, i went a bit nuts, managed to twist ankle when slipped on wet stairs getting out of flats and got myself into a right state at hospital cause day assemement unit cant be accessed by stairs, and am soo clautstrophoic and have never used lift on my own there before.... took me half an hour to summon up courage and that was only after an observant porter had noticed my strange liftshaft lurking and v kindly got in lift with me. what a nice man. grrr. then home during rush hour, 40 min to get a bus and no seat on the one i did get.

ah feck. but then baby is fine and that's all that matters. and DH wonderful with the melodramatics/hysterics when i got home, and my sister cooked along with gorgeous gordon for us tonight and then i get to log onto MN and see everyone's lovely posts. so i think the day's just about evened itself out.... if my ankle would just stop its swelling

high maintanence, moi?

leesmum · 19/01/2008 08:51

good morning everyone

Well i had a couple of contractions in the night but thats it

I was all set to go and very excited and now i don't know what to do with myself, i feel like i'm in limbo. Dp has gone in work and i think i'll have to put it all to the back of my mind otherwise i wouldn't leave the house

Sarah how's the wee collecting going? when i last went to mw i peed in a pint pot because i knew it would all go in, its horrible when you can't even see your own pee. And i can't believe they thought you wouldn't know your own body like that!! i hope you dont have too long to wait now x

Mutha hi and i'm sorry you've been through an upsetting time recently, and don't worry about upsetting us lot, that's what were here for, good and bad times xxx

Gill your cd sounds hillarious but if i'm being honest when you actually are in labour you won't be arsed what music is on in the background when i was in labour with ds i had all my fave cd in my hospital bag and my dp kept getting out various ones for me to listen to he finally stopped when i said " for fu@s sake put the fu@!ing cd's away"

Tyaca do you feel a bit better after going to the antenatal unit? And i can't believe you didn't get a seat on the bus bas*&@ds

Lolo how's your daughter doing now? Calpol is great stuff but have any of you tried Medised? its similar to calpol in that it's just paracetamol but because it has a little bit of antihistamine in it, it knocks them out after 15 min of giving it to them, it has been invaluable a few times, especially when they are all bunged up and can't sleep at night.

How are all the new mummies doing? here's me wishing for my lo to hurry up when i should be enjoying my last bit of time with ds, i think we'll go to the park in a bit if the rain holds off.

Have a nice day ladies xxx

sarahmikeandharry · 19/01/2008 10:05

Hi lees mum,

Sorry you are in limbo- go for a good walk it should get you going in no time !!!!

Wee collecting is great, nothing like smelling a days worth of pee as you pour more in the bottle!!!lol- I am peeing into a bowl and pouring it in as it seemes a little easier- oh the dignity- Harry my DS keeps looking at me very oddly saying why u doing that mummy!!!!

He will be 3 on tuesday so i am hoping baby comes before or after not on the day!!!!

Like you i just want things to get moving now i delivered DS as 37+2 and i am currently 37+6 so i feel like i've been preg forever this time round- i hope i dont go over my due date,!!!!!!

ok ill stop moaning now,

Good luck,

Hope everyone else is ok,

Pk616 · 19/01/2008 10:33

Sally - I've heard that if your ankles are really swollen up you should drink more clear liquids (this could, of course, be a load of cobblers!) so get on the council pop lass!

morning - sounds like you've had your show! miserably it could still be ages until anything materialises! I think you should gather your confidence and have that pooh though, god knows what fear induced constipation could add to all those pregnancy symptoms!!

Amy - don't panic! According to the lady at parentcraft (and one of the delivery suite MWs) they expect all first timers to be engaged to some degree by 36 weeks yet they also expect most first timers to go over their due date. So with that in mind baby's head engaged doesn't mean the funs gonna start before your DH is back from the congo!

Sarah - please don't let yourself get worried. I'm sure that you will be monitored closely now and you can monitor yourself for infection. If you do get an infection you still shouldn't get too worried because the hospital will give the baby antibiotics to combat it and you will both be looked after. Just try to relax yet be vigilant IYKWIM. My fingers are crossed for you lass.

Jay- Hello and welcome back to us! Don't worry about keeping up with us, sometimes I can't keep up with my own posts!!! If you scan through the posts a page or so back, I found a website about breach babies for Redbush that may be of some help to you. But I've heard that with second and third babies they can be breach and not engaged right up to the last minute (don't quote me on this though!) so get on all fours and wiggle your bum and do all the other things you're supposed to do when the baby is breach but don't get worried about it too much!

Bean - can you not recruit someone to help with the old housework? Don't try to push yourself too hard like I did, you always get punished for it, can't do a thing for a couple of days and then you're back where you started again!

lolo - My mom, bless her cottons, swapped the wardrobe in her spare room for ours and it basically solved all of our problems with regard to storage and fitting the cot bed in. It doesn't stick out into the room as far, has twice as much hanging space, has storage space above the hanging rails and our two small chests of drawers fit very nicely under our hung up tops. I still haven't got the doors on it though... must do that at some point! Hope your DD is feeling better today and slept better last night.

Redbush - you flatter me It was nothing really! It gave me something to do that didn't involve cleaning!! I hope you get that baby turned and sort out your iron - eat more chocolate!!!!!

Jo - Dps the same here but not hiding it as well as he thinks he is!!

tyaca - ooh more flattery My egos had a good boost today! Sorry about your shite day but at least you know that everythings ok and have been able to put your mind to rest. Big boo to the crettins on the bus who didn't give you a seat. Next time, thrust your bump out in front and demand one! Get your leg elevated and put a bag of peas on your ankle, paracetamol wouldn't hurt either!

lees - go to the park even if it rains!! your lo can play in the puddles, I used to love that! And as Sarah said the walk would probably do you good!

Sarah - lmao at your wee collecting! Sorry!

Lucyand2 · 19/01/2008 10:38

Eeek, keeping my fingers crossed for you Sarah and Leesmum, I hope things get underway soon!

Have had a rough few days with terrible back ache and very strong braxton hicks that have gone on for hours. I got DP to come home and look after me as I got quite spaced out from the pain but since then not much has happaned. I had an extra spicy curry last night in the hope it might move things along but baby seems quite well dug in despite my hope for an early delivery. Oh well!

I've put some pics of my bump and I up on my profile so you can see why I get comments everywhere I go. I'm starting to feel a little bit like a freakshow!

LOVEMYMUM · 19/01/2008 15:01

Tyaca - am so relieved that all's well. You will have an interesting story to tell your LO! I got scared a few weeks ago cos LO was quiet. Was at hospital for antenatal class, went to maternity triage and all was well but it is worrying when baby goes quiet.

LOVEMYMUM · 19/01/2008 15:05

Bessie - what do you think of the things you ordered from John Lewis? Any you recommend or are sending back?

Tired today but can't sleep. Want to listen to radio in bed but DH is asleep (has had a long working week).

CountTo10 · 19/01/2008 16:27

Hello - hope everyone's enjoying the weekend and not too uncomfortable. I keep getting niggles and get excited and then it goes away so sarah and leesmum, you must be really irritated. Lots of walking and hot spicy foods for you!!!

I know I shouldn't moan but does anyone else get a bit fed up with the never ending, so how long have you got left, and do you know what you're having and you must be looking forward to the end conversations??? I just feel like writing it all down on a piece of paper to hand out to people!! All part of being at the end I spose!!

gingermumi · 19/01/2008 16:48

Haven't had time to read all the messages but Sarah that's very similar to what happened to me - be very careful about infection - that's why i was induced and then ended up having emergency c-sect and no-one would beleive me that waters had gone and that i felt crap! Stick to your guns hun - if you think things aren't right be persistent!

Have to go as going to my mums for tea (and it takes us forever to get out of the house!!!), will try to read messages tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone

SallyInYorkshire · 19/01/2008 18:26

Hi everyone!

what is it with today? I am completely exhausted!! literally, all I have done all day is gone to get my hair cut while DH went round the supermarket (bless him), but on the way back he commented on my driving being crap and tbh he was right - veering wildly instead of steering properly, clutch control gone to pot etc. then this afternoon I had a little nap... and still feel knackered.... did this tiredness suddenly hit anyone else at 35 weeks?

baby is kicking madly, could it be using up all my energy or is that a silly thought?

countto10 - I have to admit I really like people asking me how long I have left/do I know what I'm having - it gives me an excuse to launch into a conversation about my favourite topic, the baby . But for some reason I get really annoyed by people saying "you must be looking forward to the end" - how DARE they assume how I "must be" feeling? and anyway if I AM looking forward to anything, it's not the end of pregnancy (ie labour, who looks forward to that?) but the start of my new life with lo!!!! hm maybe I should start an "Am I being unreasonable?" thread!!!

leesmum - you made me laugh with the story about the cd's, DH actually bought me an ipod to take into hosp with me and I didn't like to say that I think by the time they take me onto the delivery suite I won't be in a state to listen to an ipod! However it won't be wasted as my plan is to stick it firmly into my ears on the post natal ward when everyone else's babies are crying and mine is being quiet!!! (yeah right in my dreams)

rozzyraspberry · 19/01/2008 19:35

Evening everyone!

Leesmum - how frustrating for you after it seeming like it was all happening. It does sound like something's going on though so fingers crossed you won't have to wait too long! I also second your recommendation of medised - great when the lo's have colds - lets them (and me!!) get some sleep.

Sarah - can't believe you're the second person on this thread to have been told you've peed yourself when your waters have broken. At least they're keeping an eye on you and hopefully you won't have to wait much longer either. I can understand you not wanting both of your lo's birthdays on the same day though so hopefully something'll happen before or after that.

Beansprout - you'd better take it easy - not long to go for you now! How long do you expect to be kept in hospital? Now that I'm finished work I am hoping for a couple of weeks to chill out before little one arrives!

I don't mind the questions on how long I've got to go it's the questions asking if we know what we're having. For the last 4 months we've been telling everyone we don't know what we're having but we do - feels quite funny when they're saying they can't wait to see what we have!

New mummies - how are you all? I hope you're recovering well from your section ginger and the twin mums are recovering well from the births and are coping ok with two babies instead of one. Night times must be the worst if they're getting up at different times - just make sure you take any help that's offered.

Everyone else - hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend. Take care

ayrshirelolo · 19/01/2008 20:57

Evening all!! Hope everyone's ok, Tyaca sorry you had a pants day but glad baby is fine!! Second the idea about the bus, drives me mad when people pretend not to notice that there's an extremely pregnant woman about 6 inches from them! I spent a miserable journey on a train from York to Edinburgh about 6 weeks ago while dh phoned my mobile every 10 mins so i could say loudly "no, i'm still having to stand... and i think my ankles are swelling etc" not very subtle but eventually a nice young woman gave me her seat while loads of blokes hid behind papers and pretended not to notice... ggggrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!.... sorry ! rant over!!!!
Anyway, thanks for the tip about Medised, Leesmum and Rozzy, yup, i'm a fan too, it definetely works!!! Just that dd doesn't like the taste so cries for 10 mins when you give her it... but sometimes you just got to!!! Someone told me the new Calpol night time was the same stuff? Haven't tried it yet, but when the Medised runs out might get some to see if she likes the taste better!
Glad you got the cot bed sorted Pk616, Leesmum hope it all starts again! Sarah, how you doing? any more news? Redbush glad you're more positive, countto10 i feel like handing out flyers to people, yes, i'm tired, due in about 10 days, no it's not twins i'm just massive, etc......Drives me nuts!!!! Sally think my dh would think my driving was crap now too, but keeps volunteering to drive when we go anywhere "so i can be more comfy".... thinks i'm daft!!!
Anyway ended up on the couch last night as dh snoring loads and i was really uncomfy and aware i was going to keep him awake or stab him if he kept snoring!!! freaked the poor man out when he woke at 7 ish and i'd vanished though!! Have tried to catch up on sleep today but with no luck, so am off to my bed soon, hope everyone is ok, ((((waves to everyone on feb thread)))) lolo x

LOVEMYMUM · 19/01/2008 21:13

cosima · 19/01/2008 22:14

had period like pains all afternoon, am 37 weeks, don't know if false alarm or pre labour

bluedomino · 19/01/2008 23:44

Hello everyone. I've had the iron infusion, it took about 5 hours, and didn't hurt other than the slightly annoying drip thingy in my hand. They had to keep monitoring my BP, temp etc every few minutes for the first 15 mins in case of an allergic reaction, and then every 30 mins, so I didn't manage to sleep as planned but all the midwifes were really lovely, my dad took me to the ward and stayed a bit, he was offered tea 4 times in half an hour! and they brought me a constant supply of ice as my cravings are still bad. Its made me feel quite relaxed about going in. Had really bad stomach pains that night, probably because I'm not used to spending the day lying down!

I'm 3/5ths engaged and measuring on the 75th centile, told I may not last until the 14th! eek. Going to see obs on monday to see if bloods any better, will ask him for a weight estimation then, but at least I don't have to push this one out!!

I'm getting lots of period pains and shooting pains up my back. I feel like I have to mince along when I'm walking, keeping my knees together in case the baby falls out! ohhhh shit and I've got CANKLES now, feet are even swollen first thing in the mornings.

Take care everyone, I will try to catch up with all the postings tomorrow. x

mutha2beagain · 20/01/2008 10:01

Morning everyone,

Suddenly after all the rushing around and nesting had a crap night and do what I always do when I can't sleep.... get up, make a camomile tea and switch the telly on.

Of course I drifted onto Discovery Health at 4am to watch baby programmes and found myself in floods of tears watching a woman's labour, shortly followed by the story of some lesbians adopting a little boy from a drug addicted mother. So feel like I'm getting close and that hormonal crash is on its way. Got this thing in my head that I must not go to the hospital too soon but I like to think now that I do know the difference between false and real labour.

Feeling pretty scared about the labour now - have managed to stay in fairly good humour and spirits till now but the nerves are starting to kick in.

I'm just going to try and have a day of doing nothing except read the papers and just hanging out at home. DH has taken DS off to football this morning so all I have to do is waddle off to the newspaper store.

Morningglory, bluedomino, cosima, sarah and leesmum ... sounds like your LOs are on the move so hope things are getting underway for all of you.

The other blot on my horizon is that DSs birthday party is arranged for 3rd Feb - six days before d day. Yes, you may well question the wisdom of this arrangement - more than a bit barmy!! So I've just got to play that one by ear. The other annoyance is that the person I've been training to do my job so diligently over the last two weeks has decided it's not for her so I've got to start from scratch with a temp on Monday morning which is far from ideal. Anyway I've said to work that I will only go in for the mornings - I don't see why I should push it so hard when my work is voluntary.

Anyway hope you all have relaxing sundays and for those whose nights are disturbed you are developing the skilful art of catnapping during the day.... or at least getting the opportunity to try! Not something that comes naturally to me I have to say.

Anyway will sign off now to get a skinful of tabloid nonsense to take my mind off things..

cosima · 20/01/2008 11:07

hi all, hope you are all well this morning. mine was just a dress rehearsal I think, I don't know whether relieved or disappointed but its all good, hoping LO is born in the next chinese new year so he can be the same birth sign as mozart anyway, so don't mind waiting!

Egg · 20/01/2008 14:03

Hello ladies. Sorry for absense. Family visiting and hungry babies, plus a toddler who needs a lot of love are taking up all my time!

So it looks like Sarah and leesmum will be having babies very soon, and cosima too (have I even said WELCOME to cosima, in my dazed state?).

Ginger we are now same as you, Rebecca and I have been discharged by midwife but still waiting for Jacob's cord to drop off so they are coming back on Weds to see him again, which is when the HV is first coming too. We are getting used to lots of visitors! Still quite stress free at mo, except Jacob has developed an evening problem that is making me nervous as it shows signs of the dreaded colic. He has a reasonable feed at 6 or 7 or something, then wants another one less than two hours later and takes another full feed, then screams for ages (two hours on and off) as his tummy hurts from overeating. Will have to try to refuse him the second feed, or not let him have so much and see if it makes a difference.

Rebecca likes to feed every two hours at night, yet had to wake her after four hours just now. Grrrr. I need to get tough with them, but I can't as they are too cute.

Beany, I am afraid Gill beat you to it and emailed me about the pjs the day before so am posting to her tomorrow. If she hates them she can forward them on to you , although prob not in time for your BIRTH in three days! Did I mention that 23rd is also the TEN YEAR anniversary of when DH and I met (in a pub at Victoria Station, drunk...). A great day all round .

sarahmikeandharry · 20/01/2008 14:56

Hi egg,

glad to hear your geting on so well with your family,

How are you finding it?

Have you lots of help,?

hopefully Lo wont be too long but will see,

Midwife been again today- BP still up so coming back tomorrow, will let you know how i go,

Hope everyone is well,.

gingermumi · 20/01/2008 15:55

Hello ladies, have managed to catch up on posts although i may not have digested all the information!

Mutha - if you're going for induction I'd definitely go for pain relief of some sort, epidural if you can get it - induction can be quite violent and I have heard of mums going into shock because of this. My own experience was terrible so don't necessraily go by that. Generally though, it can be pretty rough.

Mana, leesmum, sarah and anyone i've missed (PK?) any signs of anything happening? Hope you all have lovely babies soon!

Tyaca - glad your OK now.

Sorry for all those ladies feelin rough and not sleeping - it's really hard going when you get to tis stage but it will all be worth it! Try to rest when ever you can.

All going well here, i have managed to get a UTI (due to the catheter apparently) but am on antibiotics so it's clearing up now - thought i'd seen the last of that particular ailment when i gave birth! Toby is doing well and is back up to birth weight. Still waiting for the cord to fall off though!

Egg - did you contact HV or did they contact you ? i haven't heard from them, not sure what to do about it. Hope jacob ok, i can remember when dd2 had colic, i used to spend hours walking the streets with her in my arms as it was the only thing that settled her - thankfully she was a summer baby - wouldn't want to be doing that with the crappy weather we've been having!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend - maybe we'll have more babies by the end of the week.
