Sweetkitty yes I am the sme as you re: tiredness. Yesterday I put my head down "for 20 minutes" on the sofa after lunch and woke up- Gods honest truth- 4 hours later when dh and ds got home from work/nursery. Obviously needed it though and still managed to get a good 9 hours last night too Tiring work this gestating lark.

And sadly hpyperemesis lasted virtually all the way through with ds- though this time round it's been much worse so far, so am hoping that it will exhaust itself earlier wanted to whisper that bit so I didn't tempt fate by saying it too loud

Come on the snow! ALthough sky here normally looks a bit yellowy if its going to snow and it doesn't look that way yet, darn it.

Afternoon

Yes tired in the afternoons now too! Feel great in the morning and then bang I feel like I've got lead in my legs. Usually get no chance to rest though - just have to muddle through. Sickness persisting but has moved form morning to evening - hate the cooking! Feel sad though for you Minkus and I shouldn't moan when I hear what you're going through - hope it gets better soon!!

DD very sad - snow has disappeared again and the sun is shining - argh and I could have been to Ikea!!

On the baby weight thing -
With ds1 I put on 3stone but was back to size 10 by 6 weeks. ds2 only put on 10lb and was less than size 8 after 2 weeks. ds3 I put on about 2 stone and took about 3mths to get to size 12. With dd put on about 2stone and was size 10 in 3 months. With ds4 put on 1 and half stone and took about 6 months to be size 10. This time not starting at very good place as seemed to put on quite a lot after miscarriage in April. So am now wearing size 14 jeans that still have a bit of room but I am expecting to balloon! Do I care? I will care a bit after the baby is about 3 months but I know that bf and being happy will get me back to normal!! A healthy happy baby is the most mportant thing.

Away to sort out fighting children .....

Minkus · 03/01/2008 14:07

ScottishSusan the feeling of sickness is probably worse than the throwing up itself so we're probably on an even par- can really empathise with anyone who's had even a fleeting moments' worth of morning sickness, it's truly minging

How old are your dcs? Think the last time I was a size 10 was when I was 10 myself!

Mummywannabe · 03/01/2008 16:51

HI all quick post, had scan today. All perfect! little one squirming (SP?) about. Cried most of the morning. New due date 8th July, i'll update list later. Haven't had time to read all the post but hope your ok now libralady.

ScottishSusan · 03/01/2008 16:58

Evening

Still not a lot of snow but bitterly cold! Evening sicky feeling starting right on time for everyone saying "what's for tea mum?" GREAT!!! Having a minute out to gather strength!
Minkus - my oldest ds Stefan is 15, then ds Jaydan is 13 then ds Ciaran is 10 then dd Taylor is 5 and then ds Mackenzie is 2. I have been married before and first 3 are from first marriage. Don't think I would be on number 6 otherwise - although I do like the big family thing - good job eh?

Well I'm away to brave the kitchen - how hard can spag bol be? Yuch!!!! xx

ScottishSusan · 03/01/2008 16:59

Oh meant to say - great news mummywannabe!! xx

Minkus · 03/01/2008 17:10

Lovely names Scottish! And yes def a good job you are loving the big family thing- do you think you will stop at 6 or keep on going? I'd love more than the 2 we'll have come July (God willing) but not sure I could go through the sickness again. Pretty certain I can't in fact. Which makes me feel really sad

And hooray Mummywannabe, such a lovely feeling when you're told all is well!

We're having spag bol for tea too- I say "we" but I mean dh and BIL who's coming over will be having spag bol, I will be having a teeny plate of pasta with a light dusting of black pepper and a smidge olive oil if I'm lucky enough to want food this evening

pigleychez · 03/01/2008 17:45

Mummywannabe- Great news! So reasuring to see isnt it

Showed my colleagues at nursery my scan pics yesterday and some of the children saw so dont think it will be long before they tell thier parents and they start asking.

Sorry to hear people are still suffering with MS. Ive been really lucky so far ( dont shout too loud!) Ive had no ms at all. Had times of feeling abit icky but thats as far as its got.

My bump is much more noticable now. My work Jumper is baggier so not as noticeable as my tighter own clothes.
Feel much more pregnant now, especially love rubbing bio-oil on my round belly at night time, makes me feel very pregnant.

Had snow here today,Kids at nursery were going crazy! Laid for a bit but mostly slush now.

Feeling like crap today! Picked up a nasty cold and feeling very run down.

ThreeFrenchHensEEC · 03/01/2008 18:37

Been away for a few days - loads to read. Not sure I've quite caught up yet with everyones news...

Went to England for combined bloods and scan - had them yesterday. Have been really worried - didn't realise quite how much until I compare it with how happy I feel now! Scan amazing. Perfect little wriggler (only one) Combined risk 1:1834 (pretty good for an old 39er!) so I'm on cloud nine. I feel officially pregnant and have even gone out to buy one or two maternity things (some early term jeans, and a couple of bump bands). Have just told the DS and DD - they seem a bit dazed but happy I think. DD is already really interested and asking all sorts of questions like how does the food I eat reach it etc

Minkus , glad your feeling a bit better ? long may it last!

Hatrick ? good news about scan results

Libralady ? poor you ? hope you?re feeling better

Mummywannabe ? Yeah!

Welcome and congrats new mums... It really is addictive!

Hello everyone else.

WE'RE HAVING BABIES!!!!!

Minkus · 04/01/2008 08:04

Morning all

Hooray ThreeFrenchHens, another low risk result for our merry throng. Haven't had the bloods taken yet need to make an appointment with mw to ask lots of questions about testing.

Hope you all had a good night, ds woke a couple of times but he managed to go back to sleep fairly quickly again without me having to get into his bed so I had the whole night in my own/dp's bed! Bliss.

I need to find out about the free childcare places available for over 3's, does anyone out there know about them at all?

Have a good day
Minkus

ScottishSusan · 04/01/2008 08:29

Morning all!

Ds has a chest infection for which he got anti biotics yesterday but that meant he was up AGAIN during the night coughing and spluttering . We got to sleep around 4am and he was up again at 6. Ah the joys.

Funny story -
Last night after I got 2 youngest ones settled I went for a shower. I was no sooner in than there was a banging on the door. It was DS age 13 wanting to talk to me about "something very important". I shouted for him to wait 5 minutes. A couple of minutes later there was again a banging on the door. DS age 15 wanted to "ask me something very important". Again I said wait 5 minutes.
When I came out there they both were at the door both wanting to talk at once. Dh appears and sends them away with "give your mum some time to herself, she will come and see you when she's ready" Hee! Hee! They want off to their rooms sulking...I went to dry my hair in peace.
10 minutes later I went to speak to each of the boys and you should have seen their faces... so pleased to see me....and do you know neither of them could remember what they wanted me for....
Just nice to be needed even when they get big!

Min912 · 04/01/2008 10:30

Morning!

Just thought I'd share yesterday's delightful incident with you all... had just put DS in car seat, we're off to meet DH for lunch when I get those sudden immediate 'oh no' feelings - no time to get him out of his seat and run indoors so I had to step aside and vom onto our front lawn. Fortunately our front garden is up a slope so it wasn't as obvious as might have been, and the only person to walk by was a teenage boy who gave me a knowing nod. I wanted to shout 'it's morning sickness not from the night before!!!!' but restrained myself.

Am definitely definitely NEVER taking ante-natal vitamin pill on an empty stomach again as that's the second time it's made me sick now!! I heave just looking at them now.

Only (ha!) 3 days to go until my scan and I can (hopefully) be assured that I'm not making this all up.

Am also (mentally) sick of people asking me if I am sad about being pregnant. I have been crying when I tell people because I am emotional and hormonal and happy but they all seem to think I am shocked and upset about it!!

MrsHOP · 04/01/2008 11:44

Morning all - Min912 a similar thing happened to me just before Christmas, I went to see a band and had to run to the toilets to (noisily) be sick, and when I came out looking the worse for wear a couple of younger girls doing their make up were looking at me knowingly...I must have looked like an old lush!

My scan isn't until the 14th! Argh, feels like ages away. Anyone else with Lewisham Hospital?

Also, my (almost due) friend has been advising me about all the free care we are entitled to - not just free dental care, but also acupuncture and reflexology apparently on the nhs, anyone else tried these?

Jodiew79 · 04/01/2008 11:58

Morning,

Glad everyone is OK, other than the MS of course, I was sick when taking the Dog for a walk in the alley between my house and the main road, had LO in pushchair aswel! 2 'youths' came past on bikes, and yes, they had their 'knowing' look down to perfection!! Oh well, I'd like to say their time will come, but they were boys!

I had reflexology at the end of my last pregnancy and by god it was good, it stopped all mt indegestion (well for 48 hours atleast) and reduced my swelling in my ankles and wrists and it was ever so relaxing! and then at 38+3 I went to him and asked if he could twek something to get me 'started' as i was as big as a house and couldn't drive (steering wheel was so far away from me that my feet didn't touch the pedals) and although he said he didn't do anything too serious, just rubbed it a bit, I started labour at 38+5 and had DS at 39 weeks.... Fab

I don't think it's recommended until atleast 30 weeks though, but i could be wrong....

Minkus · 04/01/2008 12:48

I had some acupuncture on NHS last time round to try and help with the sickness but sadly it didn't help. Pretty sure this was before 30 weeks. Was administered by my gp no less, he's great really open minded and has also trained in homeopathy as well as acupuncture and traditional medicine.
I think though it does rather depend on what sort of gp you have, if yours isn't really into complementary therapies then maybe there's less prospect of getting a referal/treatment? Not sure.

Jodie can you remember how much approx the treatment cost? If it's not too expensive I might look into it myself.

Have eaten my first chocolate in ages this morning- a crunchie. It was lovely! Haven't been able to face it before now but am at last starting to want to eat again. Mainly fish and plain pasta with olive oil and black pepper on top! The fish is tricky as I wat tuna tuna tuna and sometimes salmon and think that eating it even in the 1/2 can quantities I currently gobble 4 times a day is tipping me over the edge of the "two cans per week" mantra that the pregnancy books all say is the max. No other fish I can think of is fishy enough if that makes sense

I am talking/reading/emailing about pregnacy almost constantly but still don't really FEEL pregnant. Maybe once I've got a real baby bump it will be different but at the mo I seem just to be going though the motions a bit. Does anyone else know what I mean?

isaidno · 04/01/2008 13:04

Minkus - I know what you mean about going through the motions. There seem to be long periods of time when I actually forget I am pregnant!

That never happened the last 2 times...

Also, while I have a little bump it just doesn't seem enough to prove anything.

And soon I know I will be complaing about being too big and uncomfortable...

Jodiew79 · 04/01/2008 13:36

God, I know what you mean about not feeling pregnant, and I keep forgetting too, It def. wasn't like this with the last one, I was consumed with excitement!! I think it's coz i know what's coming!!!! (first timers, it's not that bad, but I can't imagine having a toddler and a baby around the place!)

My Reflexology was done privatly by a lovely man in my village and it cost 25 pounds, but it wasn't until after the birth I was told that the Midwives do it for free at the hospital, never the less, I'm going back to Mr. Evans again this time as he was FAB!

twinkle1 · 04/01/2008 13:42

Hi everyone, just got back from my scan and ITS TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! think im in shock this should have been 4th and final baby not 4+5.It explains the really bad sickness though.I have been booked for lots of scans and app's.I just need to sit down and try and take a bit of a deep breath!!!
Twinkle

Jodiew79 · 04/01/2008 13:43

Wow Twinkle, thats fab, the first one with Twins.... How exciting... Is it a complete shock or do they run in your family?

twinkle1 · 04/01/2008 13:49

they do run in both side triplets DH side 4Xtwins on my side. But you kind of think that after 3 singles you will get another 1 not 2!!!!!!
twinkle

ThreeFrenchHensEEC · 04/01/2008 13:59

Oh twinkle. What a shock, but great news! You've made two whole new people! I kept saying I hoped it was only one before the scan, but afterwards was a bit disappointed actually...

I don't know much about reflexology. What sorts of things can it help with in pregnancy? Sounds interesting.

DS up in the night vomiting, poor thing. He was really great and didn't make a fuss at all. I feel really guilty as I feel more worried about catching his bug myself than I am about him.... More guilty mother feelings. They come in all forms.

Mummywannabe · 04/01/2008 14:04

Conratulations twinkle! wow, you will be fine, just give yourself a bit of time to get used to the idea!

Jodiew79 · 04/01/2008 14:05

Reflexology is great for anything, pregnancy related or not, so if you have bad joints, or pelvic pains, or swelling, trouble getting to sleep etc etc...

They have to have special training to treat pregnant people, and even then can be quite nervous up until 3rd trimester (or so i found) But ask your midwife, she might know about someone in your area.... It's quite common now. I swore by it last time!

ThreeFrenchHensEEC · 04/01/2008 14:17

Help sleeping would be great - am absolutely exhausted but still lie awake for hours on end...

Minkus · 04/01/2008 14:51

Twinkle that's so exciting! Congratulations! hehehe the rest of us could have one little willy in our tums but you could have two! (for some reason I find the idea of having a willy growing inside me rather bizarre, thought of a girls bits its no bother )
