Oooh the discomfort of a pg gals nips! Our indigity never ends

I'm waiting to "bloom"- at the moment I feel a bit decrepid (sp?) as I don't think my body is working properly at all (the normal bits that is, baby making elements seem a-1)and varous parts of me feel lke they're breaking down, I doubt I would pass an MOT.

I also lurve my wrap dresses ppb and am looking forward to being ble to wear them with a nice big tum underneath. Also I had a black stretchy wrap top dress with ds and it was so lovely I can't wait to wear it again! looked fab with a pair of long high boots, although I'm a bit more attached to my flats since ds came along... has anyone been in high street shops for maternity stuff so far, not sure where is good these days.

Just had boiled egg for lunch and overcooked it, I was looking forward to a naughty runny egg mmmm but grrrr

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 14:23

I haven't looked yet. I think Formes always had good stuff

TJuice · 05/01/2008 14:40

hi ladies

long time since i last popped so thought i would say hi.

i'm not really showing much yet but i bought some maternity jeans from h&m on friday (i love being a size medium for a change!) and can't wait to wear them. have not told my work yet (waiting for an amended contract featuring my recent pay rise) so am wearing exactly the same stuff but i wore a lot of those looser tops/dresses anyway and am tall and big (size 14) so i don't think they have twigged yet. or maybe they have . . . we'll see next week.

its unbeliveable how much my diet has changed now that my ms has gone. I existed on tomato soup, white bread tuna or cheese sandwiches, fried egg and chips and cereal for like 10 weeks. now i am eating veggies again and bowls of fresh fruit salad and feel so much better. last weekend i read this book "what to eat when you're expecting" just so that i know what i should be eating (and can then ignore it and eat what i want!)

but i am still nervy-pants about the whole thing.
i think i got spoiled have fortnightly scans during the first trimester and now my next one is in early Feb and it feels like soo long.
i am contemplating buying one of those ebay baby heart-rate monitors. anyone use them before? not sure if its the same thing as a doppler . . .. .that sounds more 'proper'

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 14:42

i dunno I am 14 weeks and can't get a thing on the dopller

TJuice · 05/01/2008 14:45

at xmas,i went to croydon for some shopping while i was back in the uk. i was surprised at how little good maternity there was.

hm has quite nice jeans but the tops are a bit bleurgh. they do have underwear and tights though.

zara is supposed to have a nice maternity section (in bigger stores) but the one here in copenhagen was lame!

i think its easy to do tops (at least for this trimester) and there are so still so many loose and smocky things around (not always flattering though). i think isabella oliver is good for those clingy jersey bits that flatter the bump and not hide it (prolly best when its really big though).

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 14:58

Its a pity, you can get some great stuff in the States, but I don't think I'll get home in the next few months

TJuice · 05/01/2008 15:21

yes, and its so cheap over there.

my mum and i were thinking of doing a little trip to nyc in april to do some shopping and see some relatives.

is it uncomfortable flying long-haul pregnant though?

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 15:24

Yes, thats why I've decided not to go. It was awful the last time

TJuice · 05/01/2008 15:31

really? - how far were you? just hard to get comfy or did you get more serious aches and pains?

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 15:40

20 weeks, my back hurt so bad after I could hardly walk for a week and that was in First Class

pigleychez · 05/01/2008 15:49

Hi everyone

isaidno- lovely bump.
Been taking regular photos of mine but have lapst the past few weeks as ive had a stinking cold and dont want photos of me looking manky!

With regards to highstreet maternity gear,Ive bought a few bits in the sales. Nice pair of under the bump jeans from Dorothy Perkins. Fashionable and only a Tenner!
Think my bump might need to be abit bigger as they keep slipping down as i walk. Also ordered a pair of Over the bump Jeans from Next but they havent arrived yet so cant comment.

Also bought a few tops from Dotty p's as they were in the sale for £5 each and a pair of 3/4 length combats from M & P' s.. in the sale from £35 to £5!! Super Bargin!

Definately agree that bump seems more prominant since the scan.

gillythekid · 05/01/2008 16:06

I've spread considerably round the middle in the past 8 weeks, primarily cos I have food in my mouth permanently as it's the only thing that stops the nausea! I never weigh myself but I do know my jeans are too tight (even the loose ones!) Hopefully I'll be biking round the park and back to regular power walks in a few weeks when the sickness subsides (I don't want to know that it might stay for the duration...la la la.. not listening!!)
Scan on Wed when I'll hopefully know if there's more than one, so many twins in my family. It's so nice to have all of you July mums as I'm feeling very isolated having been made redundant last year and still not working. I do get the chance to rest all day but I get soo bored and London must be the worst city for that, especially for a Northener like me!

RUMPEL · 05/01/2008 16:13

Hi All,

I'm feeling a bit less sick today - yeah! I'm 11 weeks now.

Try some olive oil or mashed avocado on your nips girls - that should do the job. You can buy avocado oil in health food stores and it is one of the most nourishing veggie oils.

I'm a bit reticent to have DH get the maternity clothes form the loft until I have my first scan on Thursday. Just need to know for sure that all is well inside. I only have 1 pair of jeans that fit now

ISAIDNO - yep you are a thin yummy Mummy by the looks of you I am with SWEETKITTY - I look like shit when pg! But I make fabulous babies

Took Lo out for a walk today. She is just learning and it takes us 30mins to go 5 houses! Wee soul is just so fascinated by dogs/birds/plants/cars - everything!!

We lost 1 of her new Clarks shoes at the mall the other day Grr! retarced all our steps to no avail. I managed to get them in the sale but they are soo expensive aren't they? I don't want to get her just anythin either as she has wide feet with very high arches - pour soul has inherited her Mammy's feet!

I watched that Fake Baby thing today - how very disturbing! That woman was seriously bonkers and a bit scary! I loved those leopard print booties though - they were fab! Felt very sorry for the Granny - she was obvioulsy heart broken. Shame she couldn't have moved to NZ to be nearer. I hated the narrative - I thought it was very insensitive towards people who had lost/stillborn etc babies.

Watched that 1/2 ton Mum too - (lazy day today) - Made me feel much better about my girth!

I am the same weight as when fell pg. Although I could have done with losing another stone beforehand - but hey I am getting too old and will take myself in hand once this LO arrives. I am 13 stone and should really be 11 1/2 to be healthy. I was quite fit and toned before the first pg but it has all gone to pot now .

Hope all you ladies are well and having a nice weekend.xxx

Mummywannabe · 05/01/2008 16:23

Olive oil - will give that a whirl! DH will then seriously think i'm nuts.

Best materinity wear i found was in newlook, but they have good selection in the new next directory, cheaper than newlook too!

Think i have added my scan photo to my profile page.

isaidno · 05/01/2008 16:38

re maternity clothes - I've been wearing a belly band here for the last few days and they're fab! I bought a black one and a white one, and they've stopped the draught between my trousers and vest! They're £5 each.

It also disguises open buttons etc, and just looks like a long vest peeping out from under you top.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 16:47

Oh I like that

Minkus · 05/01/2008 17:03

isaidno those bands look ace, will have to get a couple

Newlook and topshop didn't d maternity wear when I was last preggers so am pleased to think that there might be a bit more selection out there now!

Rumpel you always have such good tips, will try the oil thing for sure. Made the mistake of not wearing anything in bed last night and if it wasn't ds interrupting my sleep (4 times aaargh) it was the itch of my poor boobies.

Minkus · 05/01/2008 17:05

Oooh gillythekid you should come on here during the day there's normally summat going on (but you won't get much else done )

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 17:13

New look does maternity?

pigleychez · 05/01/2008 17:21

Yeah New look now do Maternity wear range called Bloom.

Mainly just the bigger stores.
Also do menswear and baby/toodler clothes.

libralady · 05/01/2008 17:23

Noticed during the summer that Peacocks now also does maternity clothes.
Last time with DS I had to get my gear from either mothercare or dorothy perkins. Some outlets of George do some great gear also.
Found their maternity bras a hell of a lot better than mothercare or M&S ;ast time around.

pigleychez · 05/01/2008 17:27

Yeah i bought a pair of over the bump black trousers from peacocks. Ony a Tenner- perfect for work as they usually end up covered in paint/glue/snot/dinner or something equally as pleasant!

libralady · 05/01/2008 17:28

When DH got my maternity gear down from the attic, I found that as I'd lost 3 stone since my last pregnancy (I only put on 2lb throughout the 9 months), none of my gear fits. Luckily I've got a great friend who has passed on her stuff to me. Casual Club (Debenhams), H&M, Blooming Marverllous, JoJo Maman Bebe, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, mothercare etc etc. She's given me over 40 items so I'm sorted for now. It's great some of it is even a size 12! Last pregnancy I was an 18/20 and I'm now a 14. You never know if I have more kids, I may get down to a size 8! I've lost 1/2 stone this pregnancy already.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 19:23

( sticks her tounge out and wiggles her fingers over her ears)

twinkle1 · 05/01/2008 19:49
