Hi all - still no baby here.
Spent all yesterday at the hospital.
The plan was originally for midwife to visit me again monday morning and to arrange my possible induction date for the following sunday evening or monday morning (3rd or 4th of feb). Well it all went a bit pear shaped!
Midwife phoned me at 9am and told me she had been looking at some new guidance over the weekend, which suggested with my circumstances i needed to be seen by a consultant straight away. The reasons were a)overdue b)head not engaged at term and c)very high amniotic fluid. I think basically they are worried that if my waters break spontaneously because the head is not engaged it may cause a cord prolapse and be dangerous for baby. So midwife had arranged for me to go to labour suite asap so consultant could have a look at me and then tell me if they wanted to induce me there and then. So rang my dh (at 10past9 bless him, he had only just got to work!) who came back for me and we hotfooted it to hosp complete with bags etc not really knowing what to expect. Immediately got booked in, wristband on etc, and im thinking "nooooooo" not today, im not ready!!!! To cut a long story short, monitored baby for ages as couldnt get a stable trace as he/she was so active and heartrate very high. Dr came and gave me a horribly painful internal. Cervix still tightly shut, long, thick etc, all things which are not conducive to being induced apparetnly. But she also said head was actually moving down into my pelvic brim and was 3/5 engaged. So she was happy for me not to be induced, and i now have a final date for induction of the 5th feb, which will make me 12 days overdue. I was so anxious all day, not knowing what was happening, was i staying, was i going, were they going to induce me there and then or not....... talk about stress!!!
So now am playing waiting game again.
Me and dh went for it last night(sex- omg had forgotten what its like!), also used the breast pump for the first time, 15 mins each booby last night and same again today, and im just going to take dog out for a long walk. Apparently if head is starting to engage, pressure of babys head when walking may start to thin the cervix.
Sorry i dont have more interesting news.
Im just so fed up now.
However!!!!!!!!! Congrats to madmouse, sounds like things are really moving for you sweetie!! in the right direction! I will even forgive you jumping the que!Good luck sweetie! Good luck to fluffymummy cant wait to hear your news both of you.
Good luck and labour vibes to anyone else who is left, Im sure i will be the last one here, stacking up the chairs in the dusty old church hall!!

Hi pussycatmomma, sorry to hear about your stressful experience - I think the worst is not knowing whats going to happen with things like this. At least you know its not going to be any further away than the 5th.
It sure is quiet in here today!

pussycatmomma · 29/01/2008 15:08

ayrshirelolo · 29/01/2008 21:35

Hiya guys..... i'm still here too!! ooooooo...madmouse hope it's all happening for you now, mate!!! can't wait to hear your news when it happens!!
Fluffy hope you're now holding a fantastic little one and everything was ok, let is know as soon as you can!
Hiya Hairyscarycat, Pussycatmomma, emfc, anyone else left!!!! yup, kinda quiet here, isn't it?? hope you're all ok, i spent the day wandering about the shops, doing the big monthly Asda shop and carrying bags that were far too heavy in case that triggered anything, but all it did was give me backache!! serves me right for being impatient! Going to go read some birth stories now, hoping it might trigger something! (had another curry for dinner, and am still drinking sodding raspberry leaf tea.....)
Love to all, here's hoping something happens soon!! lolo x

efmc · 30/01/2008 01:13

scaryhairycat - engagement pains are sharp shooting pains really low down in your groin that take you breath away. they are worse when baby moves around

my due date on 31st... but i think baby's too comfy to come out. i feel like i'm going to be preggo for EVER!!!

have been getting period tye pains across my lower tummy (where you normally get period pains) and accross my back. hips have been aching a lot more too... am thinking this could be the baby working his way a bit further down? who can say? all i know is... they are not flippin contractions!!!!!

i know, i know it's only a matter of time, but crikey, this waiting game is awful.

if one more person rings or texts me to ask 'any movement yet' i'm going to tell them to eff off

scaryhairycat · 30/01/2008 09:44

Morning everyone...anyone?!
emfc - Thanks for that, haven't had any of those yet. Know how you feel about being pg forever! Begining to think I will be!
ayrshirelolo - Me too re shopping! I walked to town and back shopping, made sure I carried substantially heavy bags, slurped rl tea before and after and had some very spicy chicken wings (despite having tummy trouble!) and still nothing!
I suppose I should be grateful that I am not in the least bit uncomfortable, still able to carry on as normal. Its just I don't like surprises and I like to have some warning if the birth is going to happen in the next few days, iykwim!

ronnielane · 30/01/2008 10:10

hello to all of those who are left here

efmc I think I have had engagement pains too, and when the baby moves noty only do I get sharp pains I feel like I am gonna wet myself TMI soz. I am quite worried as my legs a feet are swelling now even when I have been in bed!! not that I sleep well I feel like I am having an affair with the toilet lol. I had another hot curry last night, and even tried BD and nothing. told DH he must have done it wrong lol.

I feel like telling people when they txt or call that I have had the baby and didnt bother telling them . There is only so much homes under the hamer and cash in the attic that I can take too feel like I am going insane lol.

scaryhairycat · 30/01/2008 10:29

Oooh, day time telly is horrenous! It turns your brain to mush!(I have enough trouble with my brain as it is!)

ronnielane · 30/01/2008 10:39

I agree scary but dont have anymore house work to do, Rearranged LO's room about 3 times already lol. tried everything on the list for bringing on labour, even tried breast pump yesterday see if that worked, DH came downstairs and was freaked out lol, said what the hell you doing, lol I couldnt stop laughing. Got excited tho because some colostrum came through tut. baby obviously dont want it that much he is staying where he is.

ayrshirelolo · 30/01/2008 21:02

Hiya folks.....

mum2sons · 30/01/2008 21:29

I posted on birth announcements but have forgotten to post here!

Anyway...Toby arrived on 23rd Jan after a nightmare of a marathon labour. My waters went on the 21st (afternoon) and I started contracting that evening, went all the way through Monday night....all the way through Tuesday night... remained at 7 - 8 cms for both but with the baby in an awful position (coming almost face/cheek first). I went through tanks of entonox and had 2 fab midwives (IMs) with me throughout. By the early hours of Wedsneday morning I had truly had enough of hours of back breaking agony and knew that the baby was stuck so transfered into hospital. I had an epidural and syntocinon to get him into a better position and eventually gave birth normally at midday Weds 23rd! I pushed out the placenta myself as well and had no tears after all of that. Little Toby weighed 7lb 6oz, the smallest of my 3 sons. My DS2 was born at home after 6 hours of labour and he was 9lb!!

I know it was the right thing to go in and I think I would be still in labour now if I hadn't.Toby is gorgeous and feeding well. I am exhausted and havent yet caught up on my sleep. Feel a bit sad that he was'nt born at home but know that I really did give it my best shot. I am so happy that I have another son and that after all that, Toby is healthy and a little darling.

Hope all are well and your babies are being good!

xxx

pussycatmomma · 30/01/2008 21:45

congrats mum2sons!!
hi everyone else.... Can not believe how quiet it has been on here last few days!!!! and today! Had a very fed up day like the rest of you, but was spared homes under the hammer and crap in the attic () by an exciting (not) trip to the shops with my mum! dont know which is worse, day time telly or matalan!!!!!
Anyway my major news is they have moved my induction date forward!!! Something to do with "essential maintenance works on the labour ward" whatever that may mean, and now i've to go in on Saturday, rather than Tuesday! I am so grateful as I feel as If I cant take one more day of this, but now I feel very scared and as if it is very real!!! However, last night I had a bit of a "show" - but clear not bloody and very jellylike and snotty looking !, and had another (sorry) big glob of it come out today. Yesterday did 15 mins each boob on breastpump in morning and 15 mins each boob at night, and also bounced on ball for a full hour. Maybe it is having some effect? However I read on tinternet that if you have had sex recently or a vaginal exam then you could expect a show and still be no where near labour. So who knows?
love to all, and very positive labour vibes to everyone left.
Can we have a quick register actually to see who is still here?
As far as I can see its:
me - Pussycatmomma
Scaryhairycat
Ronnielane
ayreshirelolo
efmc.

Anyone else??? ((empty echos around a now dimly lit church hall as the caretaker gives another sigh and leans on his broom. He is "about ready for locking up love, ive a wife and kids to get back to you know!"))))

Sexonlegs · 30/01/2008 21:56

MrsBiscuit · 31/01/2008 11:33

Hello,

Honor Emilia Bisset was born on Monday night, weighing 7lb 11oz in a water pool at the hospital.

Needless to say that we all think she's beautiful and as soon as I get a chance, I'll post some pictures.

Mrs B

scaryhairycat · 31/01/2008 12:17

MrsBiscuit - CONGRATULATIONS to you too! (I thought you went quiet!) Looking forward to the pics!
Still nothing up this end ( so to speak!) Looks like its going to be a February baby after all -thought it might be way back, for some reason I never did think this one would be early or on time!
