Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scaryhairycat · 28/01/2008 12:10

Ah, they are always getting things wrong, especially measurements. lol at your cupboards! - Me too! I am so not house proud myself, although the last couple of months I have been doing nothing but cleaning, and even more disturbing is that I actually enjoy it a little! ( how sad!)

Susiemj · 28/01/2008 13:31

congratulations babato! she's lovely.

isn't it time s few more of you joined us on post natal thread?

Dear all
well the quiet from me is because my little bundle of joy arrived on 23rd January a little early as her due date is today.

She was 7lb 4 and called Charlotte Elsie-May.

Both back from hospital and fine and well although her body clock seems to be set to sleep all day and be awake all night.

Birth was a nightmare water broke tuesday morning 5am went to hospital and they were about to let me go and had booked an induction for 48 hrs later when they saw some mekonium in the water - so no going home for me.

They tried the tablets to start induction at 4.30pm but nothing happened a few internals established cervix closed. So thye put me on hormone drip and fluids - so not able to move through te whole of labour. Hormones started to be increased but the baby was becoming more and more poorly until they lost the heartbeat completetly. Emergency chord pulled, and full crash team descended not really telling me or poor dh what was happening and undressing me shaving me etc etc emergency c section etc.

Hormone drip was turned off an baby started to recover. so they left it a bit longer before c section or trying the hormones again - but a number of hours later and no pain relief as yet and another internal - nothing wa happeneing.

Anyway bit later another internal baby been in distresss again but they manged to get an electrode on the babies head to monito heart beat more easily.

My midwife was amazing and ignored the doctor saying that the hormones were bringing too many contractions in too short a period of time so baby was being squashed with nowhere to go and coud not breathe or recover betweeen them.

So she kept doese low i had only used gas and air up to now but next examination i was 5 cm so decided to have an epidural as it was going to be a long night. So had epidural - excellent decision and then at 7.09 i managed to push the baby out with a small epesiotomoy. But Dh was amazing helped with the final delivery and cut chord so much for his fear of needles blood and fainting.

Was quite a scary experience - however ask lots of questions and an epidural is not so bad as people make out and i would definitely recommend it if labour is looking like it is going to be long or induced as the contractions arrive more intensley and more quickly.

So thats our story.

Now onto the trials and tribulations of breastfeeding. My boobs are enormous i was a 32 e pre pregnancy so i will leave the rest to your imaginations.

Not had chance to catch up but looks like a few more little ones have been born.

Good luck to those still waiting.

charlie is beautiful with a full head of 1.5 inch long black spikey hair very cute indeed.

love to all

fluffymummy · 28/01/2008 15:08

Nicky - amazing news! And well done to you and your DH for staying calm and managing what sounds like an extremely stressful labour so well Can't wait to see the pictures!!

Nothing happening here...tried 30ml of castor oil at 8.30am (recommended dose is up to 60ml but didn't want to overdo it!)...nowhere near as disgusting as I feared (although DH did point out that I have 'past form' at swallowing disgusting substances which amused me - although in response I did point out that they were usually for fun rather than to induce labour!!! )....anyway, a minor tummy upset followed this morning but no contractions and no action.

Sigh. So, back to the drawing board (or the list...). The only option so far unexplored is my best knickers...some of which do still fit, so in the spirit of sods law I might stick them on after my bath this evening . Hey, whats the worst that could happen...a little extra prostaglandin after DH sees them?! Might not hurt....!!!

Really wish I wasn't being induced at 41 weeks. Only because I promised myself (?...am I some kind of idiot!) that this time I'd do it without full medical intervention. On the other hand, DS is lovely and was totally worth the nightmare birth, and at least this time I know you get a baby at the end of it which makes it all worthwhile (IYSWIM!)...

Really big supportive hugs to everyone who is past the 40 week mark - pregnancy is quite long enough without bolshy little ones deciding they're nice and warm and comfy so they don't want to come out even after they're ready !!

Right, back into the kitchen - in the middle of cleaning out the really grim cupboards I try to pretend don't exist (last cleaned prior to DS's arrival 2.5 years ago ) and cooking about 20 portions of leek and potato soup to stick in my mum's freezer (mine is full to bursting!). At least I've finally reduced the leek mountain that's been building up in my garage . Oh dear, waffling now...I need to get this baby out...!!! xxx

fluffymummy · 28/01/2008 15:41

Gosh, its quiet in here these days...

Fluffy waves at Madmouse, Lolo, Ronnielane, Scaryhairycat, AngeChica, MrsBiscuit and...who else is left?!

I knew I'd be left to stack up the chairs and turn out the lights....

madmouse · 28/01/2008 15:44

Hi all

Nicky, well done, I was wondering why you were so quiet! Congratulations on your little one and keeping so cool in that delivery!

Fluffy - castor oil - you are desperate! Why are you induced a week early??

Ronnie - twinges are overrated - I have had them for 16 days now and still no baby - you may well go into labour just like that!

I have just come into the study to see that DH has attacked and sorted his 2.5 year old pile of books and papers. Now if he is nesting baby must be coming surely . Spent a nice day first having coffee with other mums and mums to be, then lunch with a friend and her 3 year old and baby, including a walk while trying to teach 3 year old to scooter in straight line great fun and a good distraction. Oh well, still have two days until due date - who knows.

You hanging in there Lolo? And you Scaryhairycat (what is that name about btw?)

ronnielane · 28/01/2008 16:02

Hello Fluffy, need help stacking chairs I will help if there is any choc going! Desperate for some and guess what none in the house but will not go out in this weather its too cold and getting dark tut.

Madmouse you have DH very well trained would he like to use his nesting skills here and sort out my DH study lol. would like to know did you show how to scooter in a straight line or did you just help by holding on that would have been a funny site a heavily pegnant woman on a childs scooter.

I uderstand twinges are over rated but would like just something got a feeling LO will be there till he is 18 tut.

Susiemj · 28/01/2008 16:45

congratulations nicky 6. well done you!

fingers crossed all you ladies will join us soon!

scaryhairycat · 28/01/2008 17:52

CONGRATULATIONS! nicky6!
Big wave back at fluffymummy! - lol at 'swallowing disgusting substances!
Hi madmouse,You seem to of had a lovely day today, I think I will do something nice tomorrow - spent all day indoors today and got progressively more bored and fed up!
Name comes from a toy/ornament thing that sits on my desktop looking at me! I have had it since I was a baby - it's very strange looking indeed! It's a cat that is bolt upright, about 4 inches high, covered in fur, has no legs, mouth or tail and has a red triangle nose! It's eyes are bulging out and staring - looks quite scary, so hence the name! Don't know where it came from - it's just always been hanging around!xx

madmouse · 28/01/2008 18:31

LOL at me scootering! I would have broken it clean in two.

Guess what, my best friend from Holland appeared on my doorstep this afternoon, totally unexpectedly! She is booked into a nearby guesthouse and staying until Thursday. So if I am not on much don't get too excited re baby. Am very excited she is here!

ladylush · 28/01/2008 19:13

Is Mrs McJnr ok? Was expecting some news by now.

fluffymummy · 28/01/2008 20:38

Wish me luck...contractions down to 5 mins apart or so, so heading into hospital in a bit!! Fingers crossed will be a natural birth - but it certainly looks as though things are now happening
xxx

lilyloo · 28/01/2008 20:42

Great stuff Fluffy wishing you lot's of luck in getting the birth you want

ayrshirelolo · 28/01/2008 21:22

Ooooooooooo!! don't log on till 9pm and look what i've missed!!!!!
Congratulations Nicky! Charlotte is a lovely name too, sorry it was all a bit scary but sounds like you and your dh coped beautifully, and a good midwife helps hugely!
Fluffy..... woooooo!!! Go girl! hope it works out well for you! If you're not careful you'll have us all drinking castor oil for breakfast!!! (although i promised my midwife today i wouldn't!) sending hugs your way too, and hope ds is better! can't wait to find out your news!
Anyway, had m/w appointment today, nothing happening! baby's not really engaged more than one fifth, but apparantly that doesn't mean much with a second. Have a few twinges, but as MM says.... doesn't mean anything! I think that means i get to take over chair stacking / floor sweeping / winding clock / putting cat out duties..... hope some of you keep me a wee bit company!!!
Anyway, m/w says to go and see her again a week on Wednesday... (that's 9 days away!!!) and as of tomorrow morning i've never been this pregnant as dd was born at 39 +4!! By next wednesday i'll be 40+6!!!Don't have another hospital appointment till the Wednesday after that, either, so theoretically i could still be pregnant for another 2 adn a half weeks....... that castor oil is looking more like an option!
Anyway, how are you all? MM glad your friend has arrived! Might be good to take your mind off impending due date!
Ronnielane, i know what you mean about lo being all comfy till he/she 's 18!!! I think i might be the first person in the world to be pregnant for ever... feels like it!
Scaryhairycat, good strategy about the due date thing, wish i'd thought of that but no, i'm still getting the phone calls / texts etc to "ask me how i am" and i'm fed up telling everyone there's no news, feel a bit like a performing seal who everyone is waiting around for!
re nesting, just cleaned the bathroom again... but it was a bit yucky and needed it, so doesn't mean anything i'm sure!!
Anyway going to go shopping tomorrow, it's payday thank goodness!! and a wee stroll round the shops might be good for me! retail therapy always cheers me up. Love to fluffy (i'm excited for you!!), Madmouse, Hairyscarycat, Ronnielane, Mrs Biscuit, Angechica.... anyone else left?? if i've forgotten anyone i'm truly sorry and send you hugs anyway, baby has the brain today! lolo x

Sexonlegs · 28/01/2008 21:28

exciting to red fluffmummy's post! can't wait for the update!

not many of us left to go now is there?

madmouse · 29/01/2008 07:22

Morning all

I think it is happening.

Had a few pretty spiky contractions last night, and a very restless baby who seemed to be trying to move then slept a bit, until they were so bad they sent me out of bed at 4am. Pretty regular (every other song on my cd) until about 6.45 when I had a bath. Seems to have slowed down a bit now, but I don't think that will last forever.

I now know what they mean when they say you recognise a proper contraction when you feel one. Ouch.

Susiemj · 29/01/2008 09:47

FLUFFY AND MADMOUSE - GOOD LUCK!can't wait to hear all.

glad to hear Mrsmc and baby mac are fine. congratulations if you're on Mrsmc!

congratulations mummytoprincesses!

OP posts:
scaryhairycat · 29/01/2008 11:00

Good luck madmouse - fingers crossed it will be soon now!
efmc - What do engagement pains feel like? (wondering if I have been having them!)

warning TMI alert!
I have had a runny tummy for about 10/12 days now - does anyone know if that means anything? (Have been having the stomach aches and the wind you associate with it too.) I thought it was apple juice but I haven't had any for a couple of days and I've still got tummy trouble. TIA xx

madmouse · 29/01/2008 13:31

Hi all

Quiet here! Congrats mumto2princesses (now three ).

So who has info about MrsMc and where is it?

Fluffy I hope you are doing ok. Suppose you are still in hospital or just home?

Well we called the mw and she came at 12 and did a ve (ouch horrible they are!) and I am 2cm dilated, cervix busy thinning, nicely forward and baby way way down. She thinks I will have my baby late today or early tomorrow! She will be back at 2.30 to do my BP again as it was 140/85, but that was probably due to me being quite tense, feeling 'on trial' and worried I was not really in labour!
