Hello!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AngeChica · 31/12/2007 16:05

happy new year for tomorrow everyone. Am excited as one of my best friends has posted on Facebook that she is in labour (how modern!). I hope she delivers before midnight - I knew someone with birthday on 1 Jan and it was no fun for him as everyone usually too hung over to celebrate.

Well this is her 3rd and no.2 came out in 2 hours so here's hoping.

Love the little pic of tripletsandtwins tiny two...

Have been really lethargic last few days. The house is a forest of dog hair but I can't face doing anything about it. Where is this nesting instinct thingy?

I too wake up feeling like I've been smoked like a kipper!

Martha200 · 31/12/2007 16:26

Afternoon all, hope no one minds an extra person joining in the Jan thread? Due 22nd, but am booked in for my section on the 16th.

Decided to avoid the antenatal threads for so long because I remember newly pregnant reading some really sad posts along the way in different threads, but now feel like I can join in (after having forgot about the antenatal clubs!)

Have a Happy New Year, and a good evening (for all those who can make it past 10pm I have just awoken from a nap, so should not pass out when our friends come over later!

MrsMcJnr · 31/12/2007 16:34

Hey ladies so sorry I disappeared, the last few days of work were crazy and then the festive season kicked in and before I knew it, it had been 10 days!!! can't wait to have a proper catch up and see everyone's news. All fine with me, still preggers!!

spackcat · 31/12/2007 17:09

Congratulations tripletsandtwins! Wow, no pain relief - you brave lucky lady!

happynewkt · 31/12/2007 17:12

Congratulations to new arrivals, esp the twins

no time at the mo, but wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year / Hogmanay

we're not up to anything tonight, no energy for a party! fancy an early night so i can wake up for fireworks and a wee at midnight!!

madmouse · 31/12/2007 17:26

MrsMc, good to see you!! Hope you have time to catch up soon and glad to hear you are doing ok.

martha, welcome! Never too late. Was saying to DH the other night that I could never join an antenatal group until after say three months, too sad when some miscarry, or maybe I would miscarry myself. You are having a section on the 16th? Is it your first baby?

TripletsandTwins, just saw the picture of your babies and aaaaaaaaaaw, soo cute. (And pmsl at what you wrote about people's responses to the triplets. Asked my dh if he would consider asking a woman if she made babies in-vitro with her husband's sperm. Errr.no , amazing what some people say!)

madmouse · 31/12/2007 17:26

kt if you keep changing like that you will start to confuse people! Happy New Year too.

Dotsie · 31/12/2007 19:52

Hi all. I'm a bit of a newbie to MN, but thought I'd say hello here as my 3rd due 30/12 doesn't look like it's going to be a Dec baby after all. Congrats to all those who've recently had their LOs. I'm jealous! Sick of feeling like a beached whale now. Hope won't be long now, but as DD1 was 11 days late and DS1 was 8 days late, I'm not holding my breath! Am hoping for a home birth again this time (had one with DS1). Has anyone experience of older siblings being at the birth? (DD1 is just 10, and DS1 is 8) Think they'd like to be there, don't think i mind, but DH not sure at all! !

happynewkt · 31/12/2007 20:08

sorry madmouse just overcome by the novelty of finding out i could change it lots
wanted just kt but that was taken, will have to go back to katyt1 soon i suppose.

welcome new people

dotsie - i have spoken to a few people who have had siblings at home births and said it worked out fine (they were all oder like yours not like my ds who's 1 and won't be welcome)
some of the siblings were happy to be around for all of it, some helped time contractions and write them down, some were happy to go off and play nearer the end. depends on you really i would think. as long as they prepared for you making a bit of noise and understand that altho you are in pain, it is a good sort of pain

mum2sons · 31/12/2007 20:08

Hi Dotsie,

My DS1 was at DS2's birth at age 9, really wanted to be there and was totall chilled and calmer than DH (at homebirth too) but this time he is almost 13 and it is a totally different story and he no way wants to be there or see me naked! My DS2 is 3 and is a total manic, active little boy who I am sure will be fine but needs so much attention that I don`t really want him around IYKWIM! I am hoping to do it at night but am soo noisy in labour, am sure he will wake up and come downstairs anyway!

p.s Happy New Year ladies At least none of us will have hangovers tomorrow!

Dotsie · 31/12/2007 20:23

Thanks for that kt. Know DH not too keen on kids being there, but we'll see. Even if they're not in the room, they'll prob be in the house, so the racket I make will be pretty much inescapable! Unless i give birth overnight when they're both asleep!

Dotsie · 31/12/2007 20:41

Mum2sons I'm not sure my DS would be comfortable being there if 13 either! However, he's only 8, and quite a helpful little chap most of the time, so might be quite useful to have around DD tends to be in a little world of her own, but a sweet child really, when not exasperatingly slow to do something cos she's got distracted! Think I'll just wait and see what happens.

ayrshirelolo · 31/12/2007 21:38

Evening girls!!!!
Welcome to Dotsie and Martha!! just wanted to say hello to everyone and hope you all have a lovely New Year. I'm sitting here drinking a lovely cold glass of fizz (bad Mummy that i am! ) but hell, i am Scottish and it is Hogmanay! Also celebrating coz midwife told me this morning that baby has turned and is head down.... Yipee!!! And i remembered this afternoon that it's two years today since i gave up the fags, so also celebrating that!
Anyway, big wave to everyone and will check in tomorrow or Wednesday to see how everyone's doing.... you still hanging in there Lucky?
Have a brilliant new year, lolo xx

gingemebells · 31/12/2007 21:39

Hi ladies. Thats why Im so glad I laboured through the night with ds4 and ds3 woke about 6am just as Id given birth to meet his new little brother. Im having this one in hospital though. Water birth. We have people on the ready to come and look after the other two when dh takes me to hospital.

madmouse · 31/12/2007 22:33

lolo, so excited for you that your little one has turned! That must be a weight of your mind. I reckon you deserve that glass!

Lucky where are you? Too fed up to post or something more exciting??

Ginge, did not realise you are having no 5 , awesome!

Welcome Dotsie! The more the merrier.

Re: Having siblings at the birth, i have no experience but there are two things that I keep hearing:

  1. If they are in the house give them the chance to wander in and out if they are very young, that way they will find it all quite normal.
  2. Apparently homebirthers often do labour through the night with subsequent babies and often siblings only wake up afterwards, despite the screaming!

Well, I am signing off for today - Happy New Year everyone. I think I will make it to 12 but not much beyond. Yawn!

gingeme · 31/12/2007 23:40

Thankyou madmouse
Bit fed up as Im here on my own. Dh has gone up the pub to see new year in so Im flicking through the channels and drinking a glass of milk and munching on Quavers. Ho hum.
This time next year Ill be planning babys first birthday
You dont have to make loads of noise whe your in labour. I know Ive said it before but dont scream while your pushing. It only gives you a sore throat.
Happy New Year everyone. See you all in 2008 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

sabinar · 01/01/2008 11:45

happy new year everyone!

aaah. a hangover free new years day. this feels weird ;)

hope you all had a lovely evening. Ours was pretty quiet, although we did venture out to see the fireworks. I had planned to let myself have some bubbles to see in the new year but ended up sticking to fruit juice - what has happened to me!

TMI warning: had a minor panic attack last night as had a lot of discharge to the point that I was thinking that it could be a v slow water leak. I think we've seen a little of the plug emerging though which is weird but exciting. Apparently doesn't mean anything about him coming soon though - could continue like this for weeks. Hand me the panty liners

madmouse · 01/01/2008 13:14

Hi all

We are due this month!! My baby is due in less than a month!! Yippee so can't wait. (Ignoring the fact that he may yet be a Feb bunny ).

DH and I stayed at home together, DH ran down from his computer came at 1min past midnight (typical ) and we spent an hour on the sofa going 'It is this month, you will be a daddy this month, eeek', etc. To my own amazement I made it until 2pm, waking at 10.30. Even lo was confused, took him a whle to get to his slightly overactive slef .

Hope you all had a good night and that this month will bring loads of healthy babies.

madmouse · 01/01/2008 13:14

What is happening to my spelling, can I blame this on pregnancy?

barristermum · 01/01/2008 13:39

Happy New Year all! Like madmouse am v excited we are all due this month now! In fact today I have precisely 14 more days till due date!

We had a lovely meal at friends last night who fussed over me beautifully and even their children let me do charades from the sofa! I had a glass of bubbly at midnight and finally flaked out in time to be taken home and be in bed by 1am. Barring a couple of loo trips I slept right thru till 10 which was fabulous and thn dh brought me a cup of tea and we sat in bed having exactly the same sort of conversation as madmouse and her dh about all the new year held.

Alas am now at my work desk preparing my last trial for tomorow before giving up work. Which reminds me - did Nicky6 finish her murder, has she been in touch lately? Good to see Mrs McJnr back in touch. Glad all well with sabinar and gingeme and katy1. Welcome to the newbies. I have been on since about 8 weeks in this antenatal club and although it was so sad to see some lose their babies it was something I was so scared would happen to me this thread was a great place to share all those fears and have the support of each other even when the worst happened.

DH is painting in the nursery and tonight we are going to see the new bob dylan film and have a meal out while we still can without incurring babysitting fees! So I must focus on an awful rape involving 2 very mentally disordered people, not the best start to a new year but at least it's the last of its sort I will do for a while!

lilyloo · 01/01/2008 14:46

Afternoon all Lucky where are you have you had our new years baby ?
Glad to see everyone else doing ok.
Poor you Barristermum being in work but nearly there!
Can't believe it's here now although see some ladies still left on December thread that must be getting really hard now!
At least i know i will have baby before Feb!
Well eventful night last night for all the wrong reasons. DD not very well so woke me about 11.00 and took half an hour to resettle so just as i drifted off again was woken by the firworks!
Then dp who is full of cold and sore throat extended the noise of fireworks until i asked him to sleep downstairs at 1.30 this am!
So am tired although no hangover helps!
Well here's lot's of luck to anyone having or going to have our first babies of 2008!

BeckyAu · 01/01/2008 14:56

Happy New Year to everyone! Those of us who haven't yet popped...Just think... We are all expecting babies THIS MONTH! Eek!!! How very exciting! Also more than a little bit scary if I'm honest...

Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a grim start to the year Barristermum - what an upsetting topic to be working on. Do you ever think how strange it'll be going from something so involved, important and traumatic to singing lullabies and reading Peter Rabbit? Life's a funny old thing! I have to do more work this week - been waiting for PR agencies to go back to work (tomorrow I hope) so I can finish off a few things - aiming to give myself 6 weeks off though I bet in reality that doesn't actually happen.

I have a whole 12 days til this little one is due. At the last MW appt s/he wasn't engaging at all so I hope this doesn't mean going overdue. Though having read some of the other ladies on this thread that might not mean anything. I'm being seriously booted these days and every now and then I get a really sharp pain low down - is this pain on my cervix where LO is headbutting? I have no idea whatsoever! But it seems lots of us are aching, being sore etc etc which is sort of nice in a way as at least I know we're all very normal .

Well DH is currently hoovering the house! Maybe he's nesting too? We did go out and by a new Dyson this morning (my trusty old Henry needs retiring unfortunately) so hopefully evrything will be spick and span for a whole 5 minutes!

Anyway... sorry for long rambling post.
Lots of love to everyone xxx

Dotsie · 01/01/2008 15:08

Happy new year to all! Any one from the December antenatal thread popped yet? I'm still waiting.... Just want to meet LO now, and be able to finally answer all those who enquire if I know if it's a boy a girl! Fingers x'd soon

Naetha · 01/01/2008 15:59

Morning all - happy new year!!

Welcome Martha and Dotsie - Dotsie you're my due-date-buddy! Dunno about you, but I'm feeling rather whale-like and fed up! Also really suffering from night sweats - waking up several times a night with absolutely sopping sheets.

Had a nice new year's eve - my Dad came up, and we did a bit of a chauffered pub crawl (some advantages to being pregnant, and got to go some lovely country pubs), then went for an excellent curry. We were going to go back to our local which had a band on, but we were so stuffed we figured there was no point, so flaked out on the sofa at 10:30. I then spent the next two hours introducing my Dad to the Mighty Boosh and the IT Crowd which he enjoyed! When the new year arrived, we all went upstairs to watch all the fireworks from our bedroom window - we overlook most of the Aire valley so could see about 20 fireworks displays going off at once - very impressive! Unfortunately my Dad forgot his acupuncture stuff, so I spent this morning fixing his computer!

Dh goes back to work tomorrow which is a bit of a shame, but at least it gives him a chance to touch base with his work friends before being off again.

Hope everyone had a good 'un and enjoys the next few days, regardless of due date!

Naetha · 01/01/2008 16:45

Ooh meant to ask as well, has anyone's bump gone mega itchy over the last couple of weeks? Mine is driving me mad!!!
