Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
noregrets · 03/01/2008 09:58

Morning everyone...just wanted to ask lilyloo or anyone who knows how to add my name to January club.

Baby was due on 27/12..expecting third boy.

Showing absolutely no sign of arriving anytime soon and completely taken by surprise as never expected third baby to be late but ds1 arrived 41 weeks and ds2 at 40+5.

Know it is irrational but now becoming very over anxious and worried rather than excitement was experiencing week.

fruitful · 03/01/2008 10:09

Congrats Beller & Sabinar! And everyone else I haven't said it to...

Thanks for doing the thread Naetha, I'm going to join it rather than the Dec one, cos ds will prob behave like a baby that was born in Jan.

Hello Amani, bf'ing can be cr*p can't it? I'm getting very close to going out and buying a load of bottles here.

Right, best go get dressed ...

Oh by the way - I'm getting no sleep, my whole body hurts, my boobs are killing me, I keep bursting into tears - and I still feel loads better than when I was pregnant!

gingeme · 03/01/2008 10:44

Morning ladies.
Well done Sabiner. Sounds like you did briliant and back on the pc so soon
Definately sounds like your next Neatha. Sounds very much how I started with ds3. He was the only baby I saw my show with too. Very good description. Keep up the good work.
Hang in there with the bf fruitful it realy is worth it in the end. The first few weeks can be rubbish but Im sure you can get in contact with a bf place if you need more support. It can be good honest
Nothing much happening here on the baby front though. Have a sciatic type pain down my right bum cheek as I walk. Trying not to wish this baby here now just going with the flow today. Mum and Dad coming tommorrow to stay for a few days. Just hope it isnt a few days of every time I get heartburn or have a bit of a moan because something hurts they look expectantly at me
Oh well off to see what my two ds's are up to in there room. Has gone very quiet.....

AngeChica · 03/01/2008 10:49

Congrats Sabinar. fingers crossed for you Naetha.

Just struggled round the park with dog and he turned from black to spotted. Horrible cold wind, nasty chips of snow driving into the face, then turned to big fat snowflakes. I have to get out to the midwife today as well.

Take care if you have snow.

Naetha · 03/01/2008 11:06

Lilyloo - sorry things have slowed down / stopped for you - it's so frustrating!! And I'm a little disappointed in Beller...I could have sworn you were going to have a girl!!!! Fruitful - feel free to give me a withering look, but hang in there with the BFing! If there's one thing I've picked up from all that I've read about it, and from speaking to other people, it's that if you can manage to make it through the tough first weeks it not only gets much easier, but you'll feel so proud of yourself for persevering And yes I know I'll be eating my words in two weeks!! Noregrets - welcome to the club! We do have a big list of due dates etc, but unfortunately I don't have the mental capacity to find it at the moment - I'm sure someone less inept can add you to the list! Not that you need to be added to any list to contribute to this thread - spam away! We're quite a chatty bunch

Things definitely happening here at last - yay!!

Contractions every 5-6 minutes at the moment but only lasting about 30 seconds (well 30 seconds of pain - tighter for longer), I have to admit I didn't realise how painful they'd be though at this early stage!! My mum rang up to see how I was getting on, and as she's a complete worrier and I've had so many false starts already I didn't want to let her know I thought I was in labour, unfortunately when I had a contraction I honestly couldn't talk/concentrate, so had to do the "just a sec" thing then make some excuse about the cats beating eachother up!

The pain I'm getting is across my lower back, and feels a bit like a trapped wind spasm (but trust me, there's nothing trapped there other than a baby - everything else has been got rid of!). I just hope it doesn't mean the baby has shifted back to back though, as I don't really get any pain across my tummy...

Still got my reflexology booked, although it's going to be more about relaxing me than getting things going! I'm then going to try and hang on until DH gets home from work before doing anything like going to the hospital. I want to leave it as long as possible as I really don't want the disappointment of being examined and only finding out I'm 2cm dilated, and being sent home again!

Right, off downstairs where it's nice and warm and I'm going to bounce on my birthing ball. I'm sure I'll speak to you all later!

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow OW!!!! (breathe, breathe, breathe)

madmouse · 03/01/2008 12:31

Naetha - finally. So pleased it is going, I hope it will keep going and smoothly. You do sound rather busy, try to preserve some energy.

Sabinar, yay, that sounds brilliant. ere's hoping I will get a similar experience.

Glad i am not the only one who thought Babybel was to be a girl . Hope you are doing ok Beller.

Noregrets, welcome to the greatest natter board in the world. Don't worry about the list.

Just talked to my lo about how exciting it was to talk to mw about him coming out. He was trashing about as usual but when I said that he stopped. I imagined him thinking 'what me, out, nah' and then he continued trashing . Well here's hoping that he will come on time.

Amani · 03/01/2008 12:58

congrats sabinar
well done

BWMum · 03/01/2008 13:35

Hello everyone
Just wanted to say I am sharing frustration/boredom with all of you waiting for your babies . Ours was due on 1 Jan so not very late yet, but that's not helping me stay patient! I saw the doctor yesterday and she said baby is only 4/5ths engaged - I was really hoping it would be more as it's been at 4/5ths since 36 weeks....
Thought I might try Naetha's trick of a long walk this afternoon, although the weather is so chilly I'm not sure I'll have the motivation to get bundled up and head out

Sending lots of "come out" vibes to all of you wanting things to happen NOW!!

BWMum
xx

beller · 03/01/2008 17:24

congrats Sabinar!!

well got the good news today that stitches are infected and im in more pain than before...ouch..got antibiotics now though sp hopefully will be better soon.

"come out vibes" for all those that want need them, sorry cant keep udated as usual , but thinking of you all xxx

madmouse · 03/01/2008 17:56

Oh beller that is not a nice start. Stitches are a nuisance enough without this. Do you have anyone to help you with stuff around the house?

Naetha, how are you progressing? You have gone a bit quiet can I take that as a good sign?

Just posted on the pregnancy thread. Have come back from my walk to the shops with terrible pelvic pain (only when I walk). Feels like little boy wants to drop out. Not fun. But hey, I am sure it is not serious and it is my first serious pregnancy niggle, bring on the rest and then the baby!

lilyloo · 03/01/2008 18:32

Any news yet Naetha ? Sounds promising though
Had loads of BH today so am sure it just around the corner just not quite how it was with dd though shows each one is different !
Oh well got loads of ironing done and got kids spacehopper down so have used it as a birth ball and done lot's of bouncing today!
At least snow has stopped so don't have to worry about the midwifes making it up here.
NOregrets will add you when i find list but welcome although am sure it's not a place you hoped to be. Will cross my fingers you have your new ds soon.

well done beller - sorry to hear about stiches hopefully antibiotics will sort you out in no time

too many shoes - good to hear all is well

My trial still going but finishing tomorrow in any event as dh has put foot down and i cant persuade him out of it.

my mum on the phone so will post again soon

good luck naetha hopefully all going well

lilyloo · 03/01/2008 20:36

Beller have you tried sitting in some water with tee tree oil it helped loads after an awful lot of stitches with ds.

fluffymummy · 03/01/2008 20:39

Wow....I don't log on for 24 hours and its all happening here !!

Beller - wonderful news, well done!! I had infected stitches with ds, it's not fun but the antibiotics do work....(stating the obvious, but if you are bf-ing make sure none of them have negative effect on LO...i know, i know, but they tried to prescribe tetracycline or something for me and that is known to impact on teeth.... )

Naetha - good luck!

Sabinar - well done, amazing news...photos, name and details please!!!

Love to everyone else, Fluffy xxx

Awenamanger · 03/01/2008 21:13

Wow - it has all been happening here Been very busy here with Samuel. He has jaundice (seems to be mch improved) so been b/fing loads. Managed to avoid the teary day (he is a week old now).
Beller - totally sympathise re stitches. I was prescribed antibiotics today along with more voltoral, codiene, paracetamol and instillagel. Am not healing and looking now like it might be infected Is very painful and gets worse as the day goes on. Made me a bit of a recluse and not been able to 'sit' up properly and am walking like john wayne!

Samuel has been doing great only lost 30 grams of his birth weight. Am going to revert to my other name (Awen) and upload more pics. Ds1 is being a fantastic big brother and loves helping out.

DP is being an absolute star. He insists i do minimal and that he looks after us. He has been such a complete and utter support and I love him so much.

Congratulations to Bettymamma, MCDoodle and Beller on the safe arrival of their babies

ayrshirelolo · 03/01/2008 21:30

Hiya all!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Beller and Sabinar, fantastic news, guys!!
Beller just wanted to sympathise about stitches and antibiotics - think lilyloo is spot on... lots of baths! i had a post natal uterine infection after dd, picked up by my fab midwife 2 days after i got home and had to have antibiotics (which i completely hate, long story but have had M.E. in the past and am convinced antib's can make you ill!) anyway, they gave me an appaling case of thrush(sorry if tmi!)which i'd never had before and made me really uncomfortable for a couple of weeks until i worked out the itchy fanjo thing wasn't a symptom of healing stitches !!!
Hope the fact Naetha's been quiet means it's all happening for her!! It's getting really exciting isn't it!!!
Ok, quick question, why am i eating vast quantities of ice cubes?? anyone else had this? Took a pint glass full to bed last night to read, and had finished them all in 5 mins...... and have kept raiding the freezer today again.... any ideas folks? Have to crunch them too, dh thinks it's weird but funny, am i alone in my weirdness??
Anyway, hi to noregrets, and big hugs and waves to everyone! Stay warm girls, lolo xx

Awenamanger · 03/01/2008 21:32

ayrshire - i had an ice thing too

Martha200 · 03/01/2008 22:19

Congratulations to Beller & Sabiner from me too :-)

Naetha - hope all going ok. Am looking fwd to hearing the weight of your LO, as if I remember correctly (apologies if I am getting you mixed up with someone else) aren't you expecting a biggish babe (am in the same boat.. so they tell me, but I take my news with a pinch of salt apart from the size of head I was told about.. another big head in my family

pussycatmomma · 03/01/2008 22:47

Wow!! I leave it for one day and its all happening! Must be the cold snap spurring eveyone on
naetha - so excited for you, hope you are well on your way with labour and that you are doing well. Sending lots of positive vibes!
Congrats to Sabinar and Bella too..impressed with the home birth and then getting on the tinternet straight away to post!! how good are you!!?
im 37 weeks today, had lots and lots of what i think are braxton hicks pains when i was cleaning. Confession Alert - Have been cleaning like a bit of a maniac! Took all christmas stuff down on new years day - yes i know should have waited till 6th or whenever, but just so desperate to fettle and clean and "get prepared"! Think it must be nesting instinct kicking in. Cleaned alot before but I really seem to have stepped it up since I started my maternity leave, and now with Christmas out of the way, I have reached a whole new level
Anyway lots of pain during sweeping, sat down for 10mins, went off a bit, mopped all downstairs - pain like nobodys business, very tight hard tummy, pain in back and in pelvic/fanjo area. When the pain comes on it takes my breath. Are these the famous Braxton Hicks pains?
Also saw midwife today, not my usual one, the one i call the stand-in, who is a bit rubbish. Said the baby was head down with its back towards my left side, but the head not even started to engage and put in my notes "high and free", which i take to mean not in the right place
Getting to the point now when I keep thinking "gosh, could be any day" and then pinching myself and in a stern voice say rather loudly to self "first babies are nearly always late and dont even think about your due date it is purely an estimate!!"
((((still exciting though!))))
xxxxxx

madmouse · 03/01/2008 23:29

Pussycatmomma - are you my lost twin?? , lets say we seem to be at the same stage and have the same approach. Except my lo is engaged, hope yours does soon too. Back to the left is good though .

Pelvic pain still bad here. had friends for dinner (did manage to cook dinner)and she is a GP on maternity leave so i did not want her to notice. Hope it is better in the morning otherwise will call midwife. Disappointed that no one responded on my thread about it .

Still no Naetha - this must mean she is either in advanced labour or has had her lo. How exciting!

Night all!

lilyloo · 04/01/2008 08:44

No news yet Naetha ? Hope lo here now for you !
Lolo same here r/e ice have eaten nearly a full box of ice pops when dc's asked me where they were!
Pussycat yep they sound like bh looks like your getting ready and prepared!
Madmouse sorry no advice on the pelvic pain but would speak to midwife about it!
Awen Samuel sounds wonderful and looking forward to joining you on post natal thread!
Well i have had another very oncomfortable night with bh / cx and wishthis baby would make up it's mind. Have been up and down all night feeling very nauseous and using the toilet very frequently. Lot's of cramping this am so fingers crossed this little one decides on a course of action today. Although not sure how midwives will make it up here we have lot's of snow!

laughalot · 04/01/2008 09:21

Sorry to crash onto your thread just wanted to wish my old friend pussycat all the luck in the world I cant wait to hear your birth announcment. I predict a boy !!!! Also dont pay to much attention with the baby being high up I went to the midwife on a thursday and she said baby was like that and she was born on the sunday .

Also I couldnt help but read what amani wrote my ds is 3 and when my dd was born last jan I felt terrible he was so jelouse of his sister and really took it out on me. Also I felt really guilty about not spending time with him but I can honestly say it gets laods easier and things will change soon xxxx

Good luck all

katyt1 · 04/01/2008 09:44

morning all,

congrats to sab - can't wait to hear more home birth details, hope mine goes as smoothly and i can get on here just a few hours later! ie not crashed out in bed upstairs.

naetha - things must have kicked off properly for you, v interested to hear what size baby is in the end....

sure i've missed out a few arrivals, sorry, congrats to you

beller - we're thinking of george too, or henry, or william, or some as yet unidentified name...hmm

ds almost back on track with his sleeping, dh back to work next week after a lovely few weeks at home, going to miss him, his cooking & his help with ds big time.

i'm the same as some of you, past the 37 weeks mark, could be any day...but then again prob won't be.
not quite ready yet, few bits for pool still waiting to be delivered and a few odd jobs still to be done.

ds watching tv so best go and get some of those jobs done while i can, good luck lily, sounding good from here

madmouse · 04/01/2008 11:36

Morning all

Just rang the duty midwife who says it sounds like SPD . Apparently it can come on that suddenly. She told me to speak to my own midwife who has a clinic today so I left her a message to call me back. Had a good cry. Have been keeping so fit, cycling and walking and now suddenly it all hurts. Does make me feel for those who have had these problems since much earlier in the pregnancy (You, KT?), at least it only starts now with the baby in sight. Will stop feeling sorry for myself now and do something.
