The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Welcome Deese20 and congratulations!

Josey, I really can't beleive you have to wait until 28 weeks for your next appointment, with my other pregnancies it was standard to be seen every 4 weeks from 12 weeks and the 2 weeks from 30 something. I forgot to ask about the bloods and looking online they should be done between 16-18 weks for the most accurate results, as I'm 18+2 I've missed the opportunity.

My scan went well. My cervix is closed and still the same length as last time which is great news. The baby gave us a wave then did her usual trick of curling up into a ball and turing away, the baby does that everytime! The sonographer said I would have to wait until my 20 week scan to find out the sex which was a bit disapointing but knowing that my cervix fine is the best news I could get. I have my nexy scan on the 9th and then my 20 week(more like 21)scan the week after that.

sophiewd · 29/12/2007 10:49

Josey that's really bad, my MW sees us every 4 weeks and every 2 from about 30 weeks and the every week from 38, she also listens to heartbeat every time and does a pee stick as well. That way she ensures that everyone is OK and is happy

josey · 29/12/2007 11:21

I have my scan at 20 weeks so they class that as an appointment, and as this is my third and I have had no probs before they dont want to see me unless I dont feel right in myself, she did a pee test and took BP, I think she was a bit hacked off I took the kids with me as she seemed to think my DD would be stupid enough to try and pull the needle out my arm! I was told its the new policy if you;ve been though it all and have been fine they leave you to it nice!! My book has me marked for weeks, 20, 28 34 36 38 40 and 41 if I get that far.

G43 glad your scan went well and everything is as it should be, maybe baby wont let you see the sex if they keep hiding away.

debinaustria · 29/12/2007 17:26

weird dream alert - I had a dream last night that my Mum was delivering the baby and if she appeared with a Jammie Dodger with the jam through the bottom of the biscuit then it was a girl - so she came rushing in with the biscuit, with jam on the bottom - coz in a dream I was in a different room to where my baby was being delivered So I was rushing around saying where's the baby, and I found HER!!!

So, what do you think?

josey · 29/12/2007 17:32

I think your bonkers lol what a fantastic but I can imagine very stressful dream!!!

Could well be a sign, I hope your Mum doesnt develope a thing for jammy dodgers now

ernest · 30/12/2007 08:05

morning all. loved your weird dream deb - maybe you should ebincreasing your biscuit intake?

I've not been around, so hope everyone had a nice christams ans wish you all in advance a happy new year. My no. 1 resolution is to improve my diet. I have been living on pure sugar for the last few weeks . I keep telling myself the baby will get everything it needs form me, irrespective of what I eat, but I know it's bad.

Someone give me a strict talking to and a real argument for massively improving my diet.preferably sending a chef round too as I'm ow allergic to cooking.

been weird (in a nice way) having dh round all the time. It's going to be a shock on Monday when he's gone again.

Fil (recently widowed) is coming tonight. In a dilema as to what to do for new

debinaustria · 30/12/2007 09:16

Morning

Ernest - a biscuit deficiency sounds fantastic, especially as sil arrived last night with a box of Cadburys biscuits and 2kg of dairy Milk!!I Love my SIL!!
My diet has been terrible recently too, but I did eat an apple yesterday!
How about going out for a meal with your FIL on New Years eve? It will be a little festive bit not ott?
Re movements - I seemed to feel baby quite early too then I couldn't feel it for a while and was getting panicky until last week or so when I got that 1st proper kick. But since then hardly anything, but I have been v busy, I usually feel something now when I lie flat on my back in bed, but I have to concentrate!!Or sex can give baby a wake up call - make the most of dh whilst he's there , baby gave me a real kick again last night after ...

Josey - I'm just about to call Mum, I'll ask her about the Jammie dodgers!!

I have my next scan on Thursday, wonder if they'll be able to tell the sex then? I'm 17+2 today.

Now got a houseful here for New Year which is great, Sil has also brought me some lovely maternity clothes, only problem is that on on of hers and on of MIl's the security tag is still on , we've tried to get them off but no luck - any ideas?

Paromapu · 30/12/2007 10:24

Hello all

Back from hols to see mil and fil. Had a nice time MIL had a few ups and downs but is coping rather well. She was so pleased to see us and is very excited bout the baby. Most of my xmas pressies were for the baby!!! so got loads of nice stuff already.
And dp proposed on xmas eve so now have nice sparkly ring on finger hehe!!

Not really feeling any movements yet only sometimes stomach churns not sure if that is baby moving? Have scan on 3rd so hopefully will see the baby and see what it is!!

Debs- to get tags off my dp always uses the stereo speaker as they have a big magnet in the them which attracts the security tag!!!

well glad to see you are all well and had a nice xmas Heres to the bumps and a happy 2008!!! xx

debinaustria · 30/12/2007 10:36

Paromapu - CONGRATULATIONS, how exciting, have you set a date yet?

Will try the speaker idea, thanks

katyjo · 30/12/2007 12:21

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear everything is going well for everyone.

Debs - I like the idea of baby being born in a different room, does that mean you didn't have to go through labour (having visions of sitting on sofa sipping champagne waiting for a jammy dodger!) - sounds good to me.

Can't believe the number of people I know who are pregnant, just found out another friend of mine is pregnant (due june 30th) so pleased as she had a missed miscarriage earlier this year. So 2008 really is going to be a year of babies!

Anyone got any fab ideas for keeping a party going, we are having a few people round for new year and I'm a bit worried it'll turn into everyone sitiing down looking bored. I saw a party thread on here a few weeks ago so I'll try and find it.
Happy new year to you all!!

katyjo · 30/12/2007 12:22

Congrats Paromapu!

josey · 30/12/2007 13:48

Congrats parompu glad you have a good Xmas with the IL's

Katyjo, you need to have some games on the go, do you have any dvd games where you can team up,horse racing, family fortunes, who wants to be a millionaire are always good for a laugh with a few drinks or a fav of our families is humbug, it is a board game where you have to hum a tune from an era on your chosen card, your team members then have to guess what you are humming to get to the winning end of the board, its hysterical, as really you dont know how hard it is to hum on demand.

Debs, has your mum started munching the jammy dogers yet? and I cant think of anything useful for getting the tags off sorry.

Ernest would your boys be persuaded into an afternoon nap which might help for the fireworks, though the meal sounds nice aswell.

debinaustria · 30/12/2007 15:01

Josey - Mum says she's not that keen on them but she'll start eating them if it will help!!

PiggyPenguin · 30/12/2007 16:16

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good christmas, I'm planning to go to bed early and get a good nights sleep on new year's eve - boring I know but I'm still feeling exhausted.

Love the jammy dodgers dream - I had a horrible dream last night that I suddenly went into shed I found in the garden for the first time (have lived in house for 6 years and have postage stamp garden so not likely!)only to find lots of cages with small, previously fluffy animals in which had died while I had been unaware of their existence. Woke in floods of tears. Was really upset it was about the baby and so woke DH only for him to call me a muppet and immediately go back to sleep.

What does it mean? That I had too many chocolate cornflake cakes before bed probably.

jules43 · 30/12/2007 16:23

Hi everyone

I am new to this site, I am due with my first baby in June EDD 15th.

I am an oldie at 43 and although the pregnancy was unplanned the baby is very much wanted. There are a few hurdles to cross first as I am "high risk" for a DS baby as my nuchal scan was 1 in 52 the measurement was 2.8mm which is considered high app although my bloods lowered the risk ( all very comlicated!).

I have decided to have a scan with Prof Nicolades at the FMC on 9th Jan to look for markers before commiting to a amnio.

So life is on hold until then really, although I have managed to celebrate Xmas with a glass of champagne... !

New to this so hope I haven't posted on the wrong thread!

KittyJimjams · 30/12/2007 17:07

Hello all,

I too am new here, due on 30th June 2008 with first baby (although 3rd pg as had 2 miscarriages in the past year).

Had a scan at 10 weeks which showed everything was fine - I almost cried my eyes out! Is all a bit nerve-racking as we are also trying to move house before baby arrives, yipes!

Currently looking forward to:

a) Next appointment (at 20 weeks)
b) Feeling less tired. Honestly, today I got up at noon, had an hour's nap at 3pm, and I can't flipping wait to get back into bed again...

ChinaSurprise · 30/12/2007 17:54

Evening all
Wow - what busy Christmases you've all had.
Paromapu - congrats on your engagement - what a lovely present. Glad to hear he got you something sparkly too!
Debs - sorry to hear you're still being sick - is this your usual form? The jammy dodger dream does sound super weird - I dreamt the other night I was back working on the deli counter in Tescos (which I did when I was 18 - now 32)and I couldn't do anything right - v odd.
DH is feeling EXTREMELY sorry for himself because he has a few mouth ulcers and a slightly sore throat... men. Still managed to rope him into helping me clean the car we're about to sell. Har har.
Got a lovely extra Christmas pressie - my first proper kick! I had what felt like a kick at 14 weeks but wasn't sure. On Xmas morning (16+2) I woke up on my side and when I rolled onto my back my tummy stayed a bit lopsided. I tried a bit of massage to persuade bean to move to no avail so I sat up, and got properly booted for squashing it! I couldn't stop laughing!
Sophie - you have my sympathy re your DB. Mine told me he'd split from his partner of 4 yrs when I saw him on Christmas Day. DM had known but for some reason decided not to tell me - and one pressie from me was a book inscribed to both of them - I really felt like I was making things worse for the poor guy.
Ho hum.
Ernest - I second the meal idea re FIL - sounds like the right balance - hope it goes well.
Anyhoo, welcome to the newbies and good luck to all going out/ hosting on NYE - DH and I have decided japanese takeaway and DVD are a safe bet and are shunning our pal's annual fancy dress party to stay in. Bliss.

Upsidedowncake · 30/12/2007 18:24

Hello everyone

Sounds like everyone had a fabulous time.

Congratulations, Paromapu! or is he Spanish?

Ernest, lovely meal sounds good with fil. How was his Christmas?

Welcome, Kitty. Welcome, Jules. Lovely still to have new people coming! Jules, I'll keep my fingers crossed for 9 Jan.

We just got back from a few days in Scotland with ds' godmummy. Left at 4 am this morning, and got to London at lunchtime. Dh was a saint and did loads of the driving. We couldn't believe it didn't get light till about 8.15 (just as we were passing Carlisle)

Ds's godmummy and her husband live on a farm in South Africa and have loads and loads of animals (hand-reared monkeys, horses, sheep, dogs!) but no children as her dh doesn't want them. Interestingly, they both commented about ds crying. 'How can you stand it!' (And he really doesn't cry much at all!) I guess I'd forgotten how immune one gets.

But we had a lovely time. Loads of lovely smoked salmon (hee hee!) and walks along the loch.

calebsmum · 30/12/2007 19:21

Wow just spent ages going through messages! I'm now 17wks 5days and baby is kicking me in the bladder constantly. If I poke myself under a stomach foldI can feel baby kick my finger! Have a small bump but don't need maternity clothes yet, DS keeps talking about the baby in my tummy can't believe he's 3 soon!

Hope everyone is well and had a good Christmas?? Any scans coming up? I've got my 21wk scan on the 24th Jan and can't wait to find out what we are having.

debinaustria · 31/12/2007 08:14

Morning everyone, hope you all have a good New Year's eve tonight and Happy New Year. We are going out for a meal - a New Years Eve buffet at a good restaurant only 5 minutes from the house so not far to walk/slide in the snow. Then we'll be watching the fireworks from the balcony.

Welcome to Jules and Kitty.

Jules - good luck for your scan on the 9th, will keep everything crossed, I've heard that the clinic there is excellent.

Kitty - What a relief the 10 week scan must have been. I have begun to feel less tired in the last couple of weeks and I'm due on the 7th, so there's hope for you!

Just been going through all the messages - what a busy lot!
Bit jealous of those feeling kicks already. I'm 16+3 and sometimes at night I think i feel something but not too sure yet. More than likely is just tummy groaning after having too much food stuffed in! Xmas and pregnancy is not a great combo for turning down food - just far too easy to say yes, mmmm.
Also don't know how some of you are still in your normal clothes. I've been in Gap maternity jeans for the past 3 weeks. I was getting so uncomfortable with the top button undone. Poor boobs also exploded and had to forgo underwired bras about 2 months ago. Feel all old and frumpy in my ugly bras and elasticated trousers.

josey · 31/12/2007 10:06

Morning all, hope you dont mind thought I would update list with newbies for the NY I also decided to bump my date up to scan date as that is what they are going by now so why not eh! I still wont dissapoint myself if im a few days late

I stayed up quiet late last night sorting through toys etc and trying to have a good tidy the old NY myth, though Im sure DD will have me doing it all over again!

Welcome to Jules and Kitty, Jules hope all goes well with your scan it must be very difficult for you just now, and Kitty so pleased for you glad you have both joined us.

Debs glad your mum is willing to eat the jammy dogers for you lol I think mine would tell me to P off

I have Mum step-dad gran and great aunt coming tonight(not at my request) I could quite happy sit watching Hogmany live but then again im sure I will be glad of it at the bells.

Ok better go getting Igglepiggle and usydaisy shoved up my nose.

Have a wonderful NewYear everyone xxx

Josie57 · 31/12/2007 13:54

Afternoon all, I hope you are all well. Welcome to all the newbies, it's good to have you join the crowd. I haven't been on for ages as I have been making the most of having time off with my ds and dh - it's so lovely for us all to be at home. The trouble is we've got 2.5 weeks off so going back to work is going to be soooo hard but I'm trying not to think about that now. We've had a fab Christmas, just the four of us if you count our little beanie. Our ds has been wonderful and has kept us thoroughly entertained as he seems to learn a new trick everyday! Although I have to say his eating habits are driving me insane!!! I don't think it's just the pregnancy making me intolerant but he is really testing me at mealtimes. He used to eat everything I put in front of him but now he just refuses proper food (i.e. casseroles, bolognaise, mild curries etc) or plays with it by smearing it on the table or uses his spoon as a drum stick in the meal. The table, floors, wall and me are covered in food at almost every meal - except breakfast as he still seems to love that. My dh helpful comment was perhaps I should wear an apron!!!!!! I'm hoping this is just a phase and it will pass soon - he's 16 months and otherwise a really easy going little boy otherwise. Has anyone else had this problem as I worry about continually feeding him sandwiches and toast as this is all he will eat without fuss.

Well, we've got our amnio on Wednesday and I've got really mixed feelings about it. With Christmas and everything I had kind of put it to the back of my mind and have just been assuming that little beanie is fine. I really hope we get the all clear from these tests as beanie seems such a part of the family already- especially now my bump is so obvious and they're kicking a lot. Ohe well I guess it will be good to get it over with.

sophiewd · 31/12/2007 14:03

Godd luck on Wednesday Josie.

China - what a shock, I know about the rpesents, I gave separate ones but others gave joint ones, was really pissed off though as a freind phoned up 2 weeks before they officially split to say how sorry she was, we managed to track down who had been telling everyone, and it was friend of SIL so managed to stop until DB told parenst on Boxing Day.

Happy new year everyone, DD is going to GP's for night and have a choice of two parties gto go too, can't be too late as we have breakfast to do in the morning.
