The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

josie57: we're going through the same thing. DS is 18 months now and he's a really fussy eater sometimes, we just can't predict if he'll eat or not. Even his favourite meals are now off limits - only beans and potato or cheese sandwiches seem guaranteed. I'm assuming it's just a phase - I'd worry way too much if I did anything else! My strategy is to always offer and then hope for the best. Every once in a while he eats well so maybe he's just not hungry most of the time.

I'm 17w now but I still don't think I'm feeling this baby kicking. Not surprised as I didn't feel DS until 21 weeks. I must be very insensitive!

HAPPY NEW YEAR all!!!

Haven't been on for a while and just realised I never updated this thread about my worries with the anti-body thing, sorry about that, I had so many threads on the go I missed this one. Anyway, after doing a lot of research I realised that what they were saying just didn't make sense and ended up calling my midwife and saying I wanted some answers, she was also confused. She called me back and told me that she was sorry (and annoyed) but the hospital had gone into a panic about my blood group and just gave me the anti-d to be on the safe side and that the blood bank said there was no evidence of my baby's blood leaking into mine. Of course I was relieved but very angry with the hospital for lying to me about it all . Anyway, I'm over that so have put the fall and everything that followed behind me. Just looking forward to midwife appointment a week today as I want to hear that heartbeat again (and as no job for dh still, maybe at least he can come this time). I'm still feeling like this pregnancy isn't going to work out which is annoying dh as he's sure it will be fine. I'm very much looking forward to it but I've felt like it's not quite right since the bleeding right at the start of it. I feel reassured when I hear the heartbeat, see a scan but then I worry something is wrong. Is this normal? I can't explain it. I didn't feel like this with ds yet he was conceived straight after a MC so I don't know why I feel like this this time. Maybe just with everything that's gone on with the pregnancy maybe??? Oh well, I've certainly got a big bump. My parents saw me between Christmas and New Year (went and stayed with them for few days) and were very shocked at my size but loved the 'bump'. I look like I'm about 6 months pregnant and I'm only 15 weeks lol. My neighbour was round yesterday and said 'not long now then' and I explained I'm not due til 23rd June!!!! Anyway, should take that as a positive sign shouldn't I and just feel very lucky indeed that I've not felt ill etc. I'm sure once I feel some kicking etc, I'll feel much better. I'm also very much looking forward to my scan on 4th Feb!!

Sooooo, did everyone have a good Christmas? What did you get? (or has this all been done already?) I got money off dh to go to the sales and on Thursday I went to Mothercare and bought lots of lovely new tops with my bit of cash that would usually only buy about 3 tops. It's nice to have some proper maternity clothes which show my bump off rather than the baggy stuff that just made me look fat with ds!

Right, suppose I ought to get off here and start clearing some of this messy house. Back to childminding tomorrow so need to empty the playroom of Christmas boxes/food etc. aswell as the cots upstairs!!! Christmas creates such a mess doesn't it!!

Happy 2008 everyone!! xx

Happy New Year Everyone may 2008 be full of Health Wealth and Happyness for us all xxx

I have to say this has been the quietest most sobar hogmanay I have ever had and if I have been up this early before its either just getting home or going out the door to another party lol!

My DH managed to phone just as the gun shots where going off so it was quite emotional.

Josie my dd is like this she goes through spells of eats anything then nothing, if I remember rightly the 16month kind of age is when they like to feel what they eat so cutlery out the window and finger food, plus they like to show you they are there own person at this age also, if he likes sandwiches try putting the dinner in the sandwich see if you can con him?

Looney nice to see you, glad your blood issue got sorted, My midwife has started one up with me last week, Im also Rhneg, My DS i had before I met my DH so DS is + but as my DH is Neg and im not going to have anymore kids other than with him, I was told when DD was born I was fine, now this midwife is insisting that DD who obiviously is Neg will have given me anitbodies and I could currently be killing my baby, seh got and earful and muttered she would wait for the results of my bloods great!
Glad you got nice things at the sales.
I got some lovely earings to match a neckless i got for my 30th, and other things which are only probably of interest to me so wont bore you

1st of June 5 months to go its going to fly in now ARGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your days

goingfor3 · 01/01/2008 10:59

HAPPY NEW* YEAR everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much to report here except belly is getting bigger by the day and baby's kicks are getting stronger both of which are making me feel more and more pregnant.

Looneytune - it's very normal to worry! I personally know more about what can go wrong than I did with my first pregnancy so now I constantly worry but I'm trying my best to think positive.

looneytune · 01/01/2008 12:03

Josey - you would have had an anti-body screening at your booking appointment, it's part of the standard blood tests and there is a section on the notes. What result was this? Mine says NIL. Your midwife sounds horrible!!!

G43 - I think you've got a point there, you know a lot more after having a baby plus MN is full of info which can actually make it quite scary when you've read too much in the past!! I AM trying to be positive and even started looking at names the other day to stop me worrying We've both got ONE girls name we agree on but haven't looked at boys names yet (I have a strong feeling this one is a girl like I had a strong feeling ds was going to be a boy.....I'll ask at the next scan but I really don't mind which we have as long as he or she is healthy )

josey · 01/01/2008 12:18

Looney didnt get it at booking in as other nice(full time) midwife who was on holiday agreed with me also my consultant wasnt worried, If im Neg My DH is Neg and My DD is Neg then I can not have any anti bodies, and my results from having DS were clear (all info was properly checked at my last pregnancy), she seems like one of these people who like to point out they are the qualified one!
My Gran is Neg and had 3 children without any antiD her third had a slight yellow tinge but that was all its another way to scare monger us!

Im having problems with names this time round cant seem to get any that I like or seem to be in the mood to think about them, last 2 I was always name searching, DH keeps on at me to thing of names, though we both have names we like without argument. I just want to get something that will fit with the other 2, DS has a sort name and DD has a long name ending with A so something sound a right mouthfull next to hers.

looneytune · 01/01/2008 12:23

But the antibody screening is 'part of' the booking bloods, certainly where I am anyway. You get your blood taken and they check all sorts and then fill in the notes at approx 16 week check. Actually, I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't fell as would have found out at my appointment next Tuesday. Maybe it's different where you are but for me it's just blood, no mention of an antibody screening and they didn't do it because I'm RHneg, it's something they do for EVERYONE as other people can get different antibodies for different reasons.

As for names, I know what you mean about one that fits. Luckily the only name we both like DOES fit with ds's so that's good

looneytune · 01/01/2008 12:26

p.s. totally agree with you that you don't need anti-d if DD was neg and you were showing as clear from ds. Was just thinking of something that the stupid midwife could see in black and white to shut her up

josey · 01/01/2008 13:40

I had booking in bloods with my first 2 but for some reason only got my 16 weeks done this time and the anti bodies one was done in that, if they have done it wrong it just gives me more reason to scowl at her lol My blood doesnt give well so quite glad in away they missed me.

Oh well off to Mums for dinner, the dogs can kill each other the kids can scream at someone else and my deaf granny will gurn cause she cant hear what we are saying (if she would switch the hearing aid on it would help)
Hohum the joys of the festives

poppy34 · 01/01/2008 20:38

hi all and happy new year - wave to new people.

Am really not looking forward to going back into work tomorrow (am having a really tired spell again -which I thought i'd got over). but think one positive thing may be that it'll be a distraction -have been quite anxious that everything is ok etc (am coming up to dates where found out was a problem last time) and am anxiously worrying that can/cant feel things (dh reckons could feel flutters) , am I growing normally.

So badly need some real life distraction (as opposed to eating my way through last of xmas chocolates).

katyjo · 01/01/2008 20:48

Happy New Year everyone!

The party went well, we didn't really play any games and I was so worried it would be dull but it was fine. Our Ds went to bed and didn't wake up (don't know how) and our friends dd also went to sleep in our room much to their amazement as she hasn't been sleeping. Everyone just chatted really so don't know what I was worrying about!

Looney so glad to hear everything went well with bloods even if they did worry you for no reasone! Glad you've got a name picked, I don't have a clue love the name Mia but dh not sure and our surname starts with 'm' so a bit mm! Don't have a clue for a boy we have a scottish name for ds but don't like any others, so who knows!

Josey uour midwife sounds a bit of a pain!
Better go dh will complain

looneytune · 01/01/2008 21:14

katyjo - I really like the name Mia Wouldn't use it myself as I have a friend who has a little girl with that name. Our name the we like is Amelia. Ds is Aaron and surname starts with C. Who knows. I might just start looking through some boys names actually as have no idea this time round.

debinaustria · 02/01/2008 08:02

Happy New Year everyone,we had a great New Year, managed to get ds2 to sleep in the afternoon, ds1 had a "rest", then went out for a lovely meal, before coming back to watch the fireworks - boys absolutely loved staying up but we suffered yesterday - they were so grumpy.

Ernest - how's it gone with FIL?

Katy - -glad your party went well

Poppy - good luck back at work

Josey - how was the meal with your Mum?

Looney - glad to see you back, I like Mia as well

Lazylou · 02/01/2008 09:17

Hello all, hope everyone has recovered from the new year celebrations! Ours was pretty quiet but I was glad, as have been feeling knackered lately.

Due to go for scan on the 24th to make sure everything is ok. Think this is the last one before the baby is born and we are going to find out hopefully what we are going to have.

I was convinced I was having a boy until last night when I had a really real dream that I would have another girl! I don't mind whichever way it goes, but the need to know now is desperately overwhelming. I need to change the appointment as DH can't make it so hopefully there'll be an appointment like tomorrow .

The low blood pressure is still causing a few problems, but so far this morning, things seem to be ok. I'm going for my 18 week ante natal appointment tomorrow with the doctor so will mention it then.

The baby has been really active over the last couple of days. I had a really quiet three day period where I didn't feel him at all and ended up worrying myself silly. Then he just seemed to get busy all of a sudden. Wouldn't let me sleep last night and has been pretty much on the go all morning. I have been feeling him since I've been up and about. Think he likes tea, because drinking it always seems to bring on a reaction!

On the names front, I have a favourite in mind for a girl, but it is trying to convince DH! He likes Katie, but I like Caitlin, so hopefully we'll come to some sort of compromise on that one. We have both agreed on Daniel for a boy and this makes the wanting to know all the worse!

Hope everyone is doing well and will pop back later to check up on progress.

gr1973 · 02/01/2008 10:36

hi everyone, just thought I'd say hello - have only recently joined this site. I'm due on 22 June with 1st. Very nervous and paranoid after a mmc and a mc last year.

Had scan at 13 weeks and all well so far! Having blood tests for spina bifada and downs later this week so a bit petrified. No 20 week scan on the NHS where I live so needing to arrange that privately.

However, despite all my nerves I am enjoying just a wee bit of baby shopping .

MerryKIFmas · 02/01/2008 12:59

Hi ladies, happy new year to you all.

Are you all feeling movements now?

I'm undecided whether I'm worried (and should phone a midwife) or not. I thought i was feeling 'fidgets' now and again before christmas. Between christmas and new year, I've had the impression that I haven't felt anything. I did loads yesterday with cold drinks/sweet drinks/excercise followed by rest/paying attention and I think I felt the baby change position. Nothing as reassuring as a big kick, though.... so I'm left a bit uncertain what I did feel. I'm noticeably larger around the belly - perhaps christmas has bloated me and made me less sensitive?

I'm only 17wks (due first week of June - dc3), so in honesty it feels a bit neurotic to be dashing off to the hospital with something so vague. 2nd scan in three weeks.

debinaustria · 02/01/2008 14:03

My movements are a bit hit and miss, I don't feel baby every day and I'm nearly 18 weeks.

josey · 02/01/2008 14:34

Welcome to june madness gr1973, Im no DC3 my 1st 2 i didnt get a 20week scan, but I have moved and will with this one which im nervous about to be honest.

Debs dinner went ok, my gran picked up a bit and we played a lip reading game so she joined in more.
I know what you mean about gurny kids my dd was hell all day yesterday, then she got up at 11pm and was up and down all night so im suffering today, the schools going back will be a blessing.

My movements have been a bit on the random side as well lately, usually when im just drifting off to sleep i get them then im not sure if im dreaming, i can go days then get a bit of a dunt.

finallypregnant · 02/01/2008 15:17

Hello everyone. I am 15+1 and due on 24 June or 2,4,6,8 as my friend says! This is our first and he/she took 3.5 years to conceive! Got my next AN appointment on Friday when they are going to talk to me about the various tests for downs etc but we've decided against those tests. Can't wait for my 20 week which is only a few weeks away. Time is marching on!

finallypregnant · 02/01/2008 15:18

ooh, can I really be feeling the baby move? had really weird sort of tickly sensations over the last 10 days or so!

Upsidedowncake · 02/01/2008 15:31

Happy new year everyone and welcome to the newbies

Ladies, I am exhausted! I'm 15 weeks and a couple of days. Spent all of yesterday in bed and have put ds in nursery today to do the same today.

I've looked in my book and the baby shouldn't be growing anything major this week (except possibly hair!) Anyone else exhausted when we're supposed to be blooming?

finallypregnant · 02/01/2008 15:42

Yes, me! And still being sick on and off!

Becky77 · 02/01/2008 16:39

Hi all! We're due on 7th June with our first baby!

@ Upsidedowncake - I am feeling absolutely knackered, bloated and achey today... isn't the second trimester supposed to be a breeze? :-P

I'm also thinking I may have felt the baby move... But then it could just have been wind... Would this be far too early for my first pregnancy?

PiggyPenguin · 02/01/2008 16:53

I think the whole 2nd stage blooming is a myth, designed to get you through the horror of the first trimester. I know I still feel exhausted at 16 weeks, and a bit sick still, and faint, although I do have low bp, which I guess could be a factor.

I am having occasional movements, mostly flutterings and mostly when I am lying on back but definitely not every day so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

I had my 16 week anomaly scan with the consultant today, and it went really well. No signs of congenital abnormalities (phew!) and we got to find out the sex - a boy! Actually it was really obvious once we looked, even I saw his package and I'm notorious for not being able to see anything on a scan! Any ideas for boys names then?

gr1973 · 02/01/2008 18:45

Hi upsidedowncake - I'm also 15 weeks and a couple of days and knackered all the time. Possibly because I've done zilch exercise since finding out I was pg though!

sybilvimes - I hope you get lots of suggestions for boys names; I'm convinced I'm having a boy (no idea why) and can only think of one name I like (that I'm too scared to say out loud in case I start hearing it everywhere).

Becky77 - I've been feeling funny flutterings/possible baby movements for a couple of weeks and I'm a few weeks behind you. At first I put it down to wind but also been getting plenty of that and its definitely different. I'm also having my first so thought it was way too early but it can happen apparantly.

Josey -when's your 20 week scan?
