The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evening all. Definitely in the tired mum's club tonight. Got home from work and slept for two and a half hours!
DH still poorly but thankfully on the mend so no longer performing nursing duties - just as well, as think I may be coming down with what he's had. Boo. Got a v important meeting tomorrow and only want to be in bed!
Good luck to all with scans tomorrow.
Debs - I had a creme egg the other day - best thing I've eaten all week!
Sorry to hear the weight gain woes - people are so insensitive. I've had people ask me if it's twins and tell me I've not gained much in the same day! Ignore em I say :-)
Right, back off to bed now.
G'night!

debinaustria · 30/01/2008 07:56

Morning everyone

Good luck with all the scans today, thought I'd have a productive morning but ds2 is off Kindergarten with an upset stomach . DH gets back tonight and I'll be so glad to see him.

makecakesnotwar · 30/01/2008 08:01

Morning all- member of tired pregnant ladies club too- when I get up to go to the loo in the middle of the night, it wakes the baby who then decides to pretend to be the Tasmanian Devil and keeps me awake. I know its good training but getting your sleep in 2-3 hour bursts is not good!

And don't get me started on Creme Egg consumption- they've turned me back onto chocolate....

Off to the docotr today- having spoken to her on the phone yesterday, she agrees I have SPD and is going to get me an urgent physio referral.

But that's old news...just wanted to wish all those having scans today good luck. Very excited to hear about more babies.....

basilbrush · 30/01/2008 09:28

Good morning!
I too have had plenty of folk merrily point out I'm much bigger this time but as DS was a skinny 5lb weed (at 41 weeks) with a dodgy placenta, am trying to take this as a positive sign Or maybe I am just fat

When I showed the midwife my lovely varicose veins on my right leg (sexy mamma, that's me) she said "Are you sure it's not twins?"!!! I replied that as I've has had 5 scans so far, the ultrasound dept would have to be astronomically bad to have missed that one, so no, it's impossible!

Good luck to all with scans? Is anyone else due on 10th June like me?

damewashalot · 30/01/2008 09:59

I'm due 10th june too, although if I had my way a week or two earlier would be better as ds3 was 9lb 15oz and I don't fancy a bigger one

PiggyPenguin · 30/01/2008 11:09

Just had very interesting conversation with ante-natal dept at my local hospital. They sent me as anti-d appointment which I was trying to cancel as both dh and I are rh neg so its not necessary. When I told her that she replied, 'but we'd like you have it in case the baby is the milkmans'

debinaustria · 30/01/2008 11:11

Sybil - - is your local milkman notorious then? LOL

PiggyPenguin · 30/01/2008 11:15

I was so gobsmacked the only reply I could immediately manage was 'but I don't have a milkman'.

Then I did go on to stress that dh definitely baby's father before she could accuse the postman.

mellymell · 30/01/2008 11:44

good luck littlemy with your decision. {{hugs}}

Makes my 3 hour wait at Thomas' hospital over a bit of spotting rather trivial. have been told to stop any heavy lifting - but what can one do when DS at only 15 months is over 14kg and built like a sh*t brick house?

So have gone back to work after a day of lying in bed - very boring. At least at work, I can sit with my feet up all day and don't have to pick up any heavy loads ie DS.

mellymell · 30/01/2008 11:53

Sorry - hadn't realised the conversation had moved on quite so much to the vagaries of postmen and milkmen.

do you think having a quickie with the postman / milkman still happens. Since our milkman does deliveries around 3am, I'd have to be pretty desparate!

PiggyPenguin · 30/01/2008 12:09

I think she was using the milkman euphemistically, as opposed to point blank saying, in case you have shagged so many people recently you have absolutely no idea who the father of your child is. Or, yes you may be married but that doesn't necessarily mean you're not a slapper does it?

Actually I'm probably being very unfair. People do have children who are not their husbands in the real world and she was just trying to look out for mine and the baby's welfare. I was still a bit gobsmacked though!

mellymell · 30/01/2008 12:18

Yes, I would have been a little surprised myself by the comment - so would my DH who usually comes along to these things with me!!

nettiehay · 30/01/2008 12:29

As my DP is a redhead, he says he knows that if Bug comes out without ginger hair - then he/she is the milkmans! My parents have an ongoing joke (very ongoing - 25 years) over my little brother being the milkman's - they only get away with it as he is the spitting image of my dad

I appear to have solved the MIL issue - she has (with my input) decided not to move away from her home town to where we live, and instead look for a new job where she is, and maybe join a club/gym/dating agency so she can meet new people. Don't get me wrong - she is a lovely person - but I am soooo relieved!

Upsidedowncake · 30/01/2008 12:37

Blimey! Love the milkman / postman story. I would have been very shocked!

I've found that some healthcare staff consider the worst case scenario. But they may have to in our litigious age to stop themselves from getting sued.

gr1973 · 30/01/2008 13:09

Thanks for hugs Ernest and to everyone else for sharing their weight gain stories. Feeling much better today. Got a family event this weekend where another pg member of the family who is a few weeks further on than me will be except she'd make someone size 0 look overweight so have been dreading the (even unsaid) comparisons. Happily tucking into a creme egg now though!

Sybil - hope you dont mind but your milkman tale had me laughing out loud. Your right - they probably do it as routine just in case ( I guess if someone had been up to no good they wouldn't want to fess up in case DH found out) but it was sooooo funny. When they checked my rhesus status I tried to tell them it was pointless - I know that I'm rhesus positive because I nearly died when I was born (mum is rhesus negative). Thank god medical science has moved on!

Mellymell - keep taking care of yourself.

Makecakes - sorry to hear that you def hve SPD and I hope you dont wait long for your referral.

Right, best get back to work - will look forward to logging on later to hear about how everyone's scans went today.

ChinaSurprise · 30/01/2008 13:30

Just stopping by briefly to say am pmsl over the milkman story!

ktpie · 30/01/2008 13:33

I've just got back from my scan and everything with the baby was fine, I however managed to have a funny turn during the scan! She tilted the bed back to try to make the baby change position and I felt all the blood run straight into my head! Was not helped by the fact I was really hungry, had a snack before I left to go to the hospital but after waiting for an hour to be seen over lunch time I was starving. Anyhow DH drove me back to work and I have had my lunch and feel fine now.

Sybil - how cheeky of them!

hmmm I'm thinking I could just eat a creme egg!

ktpie · 30/01/2008 14:29

Had to make do with a twix, they didn't have any creme eggs at the shop, am feeling back to normal now.

Anyone else back from their scans yet? Hope they all go well.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 30/01/2008 14:36

Littlemy, I have just read your post about your baby's heart condition and just wanted to say how brave I think you are. To put your baby before yourself is so amazing. I think most people would think of themselves first: "Could I cope with a termination?" "Could I cope with a sick baby?" but for you to think about him and whether you can put him through the surgery and ill-health that may follow is truly amazing. I cannot even begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now but I hope you can come to a decision soon and one you can be happy with (or as happy as possible in the circumstances).

LittleMy34 · 30/01/2008 15:16

Thanks for your thoughts nh101 - I think his fate and ours are intertwined, so it is partly about 'could i face the trauma and pain of all those operations?' as well as whether it's the right thing to do for him.

hope the twin beans are growing well!

katyjo · 30/01/2008 15:38

Wow, it has taken me ages to catch up with all the posts! We'll need to start a new thread soon, any ideas for a name?

Sybil, I can't believe they said that to you, they could have just said the previous blood tests may not have been accurate, I think I would have been a little if the midwife suggested I'd had an affair!

Welcome basilbrush, Congratulations! I am up in Glasgow, where are you?

gr1973, I feel like I've put on loads of weight since being pregnant, I put on 3 stone when pregnant with ds but I was about half a stone heavier to begin with this time. I found the weight came off quite easily last time especially as I was bf but it does take time for your body to return to normal again, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think if your craving something there must be something in it the baby needs! Its rubbish of course bu it makes me feel better!

needahand · 30/01/2008 15:48

Makescakes sorry to hear your SPD is confirmed.

I went to my physio today and basically my state is worse that what I/the GP thought. With a lot of exercise and physio I might stabilise my situation (which isn't great considering last night I woke up to go to the toilets and couldn't stand up..I had to walk bended and in pain to the toilets). He completely dashed my hopes of it getting anybetter as according to him these things tend to get worse.

So I too feel a bit sorry for myself and miserable today and am having chocolate, which is probably very bad because with my limited movements I will probably put on tons now.

How did all the scans go today? Mine is Friday. Can't wait

goingfor3 · 30/01/2008 19:04

Hello all,

Feeling shattered today as I had a really reatless night. I think baby must have been growing as I really couldn't stay settled despite being tired and I also had a few bad nightmares, which was probably due to scan anxiety and what felt like siactica pains in my bum! The scan today went well and my cervix hasn't changed length since two weeks ago which is great, I thought it would be my last scan as thats what the midwife said last time but the consultant wants me to come back in two weeks for another scan as then I will be over 24 weeks so the baby will be viable. I also told the consultant I want the baby to have antibiotics after birth as the girls both needed it and this time I don't want to wait for her to be ill, he said it would be fine and they would also give me antibiotics at 30 and 36 weeks and in labour too.

GardenAngel4 · 30/01/2008 19:26

Evening, have just been trying to catch up on everyone. Some people have so much to contend with in their lives at the moment - you have my utmost admiration.
littlemy i second nh101 thoughts. YOu are made of sterling stuff.

ernest have you heard anymore about DH's job? That is just the most unbelievable timing.

Glad everyone's scans okay - mine is on Friday. ANyone else?

Starting to get a bit nervous about our building work....we are doing a double height extension at the back, which will pretty much affect every room in the house except the living room. Builder can't start till April now and he has already said it won't be finished in time...how mad are we..anyone else ever done it...I just feel if we don't do it now we'll never do it with two little uns.

Re weight gain - I put on a stone straight away and have stayed there. Put on 3 last time. Boobs keep on grwoing though - am normally an A and am creeping up to a D! Just tried to run to the post box - not a good idea!

GardenAngel4 · 30/01/2008 19:28

needahand just spotted your scan is Friday too - what time?
