The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well just to keep the pink theme going we are having a little girl! Scan was great but her little legs and arms were flying all over the place so picture is a little blurred! Will try and post a pic for you all.

Bump seems to have sprouted over night, actually look pregnant now as opposed to 'who ate all the pie's'.

debinaustria · 25/01/2008 21:14

Calebsmum - I'm really pleased for you - one of each now. Congratulations.

goingfor3 · 25/01/2008 22:10

Congratulations calebsmums!!!!

My body is having some changes at the moment. I can't go for about 1 hour withour peeing, I thought it was bad enough before! Also for the first time today baby was kicking me way above my belly button and all kicks before that have been below belly button. I know the uterus changes shape around 24 weeks so at 22 weeks maybe that's why my body feels different.

debinaustria · 26/01/2008 07:16

G43 - I got the first kick last night that dh could actually see from the outside. When I went to bed baby was doing somersaults and I could feel something just by my belly button.

ernest · 26/01/2008 07:36

the injustice! Made the boys promise if they woke up 1st they'd just come down and watch tv and not wake me up. so i go and wake at 8 dying for a wee. I know 8 is a decent time, but hd a late night waiting for dh to come back from Milan.

Sophie, I dunno how you do it (the going out) dh suggested I get a babysitter and I can't repeat the reply, but a polite summary is ' no way/ you've got to be joking' etc etc. going to bed at 9.30 and up at 7 is too hard right now.

Deb, I finally got a go on wii last night. The boys have been addicted to Sonic and Mario at the Olympics, I finally got to the good old basic wii sport. The boys loved the boxing. hilarious watching them. I'm not so good at the boxing. Was playing bowling with ds3 (4) and trying to do as crap as possible so he'd win, and kept getting 9 or 10 (can't remember the name when you get em all) . The minute I get a chance, I think I'll have a go by myself and see just how bloody great I am - and last night I I were lucky I'd be knocking 1 over, or 2 on a good go. My ball rolled straight down the lane, got to a sniff of the skittles and promptly did a 50 degree turn in to the gutter And i won't tell you how shit I am at the tennis. But v. good fun. who needs to join a gym?

Anyway, busy weekend ahead. Ds2 was diagnosed in the week with ADHD, so much to talk with dh about now he's finally home. Hoping to put our house on the market asap (neighbours put theirs on a couple of weeks ago and already got a buyer )

and need to start packing - have to have the car loaded up Tueday night for Wednesday am departure for Milan/Austria (via gynae for scan ) Want to pack today so dh can take kids out and I can do it in peace, then on Mon/Tues just get house sorted and car loaded.

congratulations calebsmum, and lovely scan pictures, cs

ernest · 26/01/2008 07:37

dunno how/why that happened, honest

debinaustria · 26/01/2008 09:36

hi Ernest good to hear from you, sounds like you're feeling better if you had the energy to play on the Wii!! It is really good fun isn't it, we were playing on it last night - we like the sport and a game we got for 15? called Excite truck - your boys would love it.

So did you get booked into a Kinderhotel in Austria? If so, which one? Stefan has a week off school in May and I want to go away before baby arrives , unfortunately by then I'll be 36 weeks so no flying back to the UK for shopping So my idea is to go to a nice hotel with plenty to do for the children and either by thermal baths or with a wellness area so I can lay and relax as much as possible with all my meals made for me and no washing up.Just got to convince dh that the cost will be worth it.

Good luck for your scan on Wednesday. How long are you away for?

Did you suspect ADHD with your ds or was it a shock? I still think Stefan verges on ADHD but it's not all the time.Do they want to use medication or other methods?

Must be good to have your dh back - how is he and your SIL?

Must go - got an apartment to clean.

sophiewd · 26/01/2008 09:37

Sorry to hear that Ernest, what is the support like over in Switzerland for ADHD

sophiewd · 26/01/2008 09:37

Oh and looking forward to DD's nap time this afternoon when I can flake out.

ernest · 26/01/2008 14:12

the men have just gone out, so pop on quick.

Am feeling a bit better then the other day - just really tired as opposed to wishing I could go to bed and never get up again and forgetting how old my kids are!

Having very mixed experience - actually took ds2 for assessment as feared he would have terrible time at school, as ds1 had had problems iyswim. Ds2 is much more challenging behaviour-wise than ds1 so astounded ds1 would have any probs at all, and thought bloody hell, if they find ds1 bad, wtf will they make of ds2. But actually we are really blessed in that ds2 teachers are warm wonderful fatastic and skilled teachers who also suspected adhd and respond to him accordingly. I feel very happy entrusting my son to their care.

BUT ds1 teachers have been truly terrbily. All the shit we've had from school, all the bad reports, all the complaints, it's clear to me that ds1 is almost certainly also with ADHD. ds2 also in IQ test came out on 99%, and am sure ds1 will be, maybe not so high, but certainly similar, so it's clear to me he's not being cared for properly, plus they are not stretching him enough (eg this year the class started learning English, I met and asked them to give him eg written work, as he can't write English, they promise they willbut the don't do it, he comes home and tells me they learnt a song 'my name is blah blah, I live in blah blah' ffs. And there's no encouragement from them when he does try, or praise for being top in maths or whatever. Just complaints he's easily distracted, disorganised, can't listen. yet they also tell me they suspect adhd but don't respond accordingly, just tell him off all the time as if it's his fault. it's like saying they think he's got bad eyes then punishing him for not seeing the board properly.

So from and educational pov, or at least these idiot teachers ds1 has, I'll be glad to get them away and into the british system, where the curriculum seems much more varied and I think it'll suit them both a lot more.

debs, we are going to a Kinderhotel called L(m)ärchenwald in Wald. Never been to this one (dh objects to returning to same place, sigh) Really liked the Bär/Löwen in Serfaus too, and the Alpenrose in Lermoos was wonderful (went to this one in spring, not for skiing)
DO NOT go to Ladrehof in Ladis - very very bad. Not happy with them AT ALL!!!!!!!

And I can confirm, it is worth the expense. The kids always have a fantastic time. You can specify if they're allowed to come and go, or if they have to stay at play bit (we let ours come & go, they know the score re coming direct to us, they're not allowed to just wander around willy nilly!) so they can dip in and out of activites, eat with the other kids if they want (usually they do -hurray, so dh and I get to eat a 6 course dinner every night in peace! The food is scarily good - fantastic buffet breakfast of everything imaginable (cereals, cooked stuff, exotic fruits etc) then lunch, then afternooon buffet, then cake dessert buffet, then 6 course evening meal!!! I put on 5 kilos in 1 week in the Alpenrose. That's bad isn't it?

I actually prefer not going in the ski season. Sure, it's usually great but you're out a lot and not in the hotel enjoying all the great facilities (well you would be cos you're not skiing right now).

phew another long post. sorry. i go bed now.

debinaustria · 26/01/2008 16:44

Ernest, I've looked at the Alpenrose and it looks great - mmm all that food ready and waiting for you!!!!

Right new guests are in, can relax now.

calebsmum · 26/01/2008 17:29

Lovely looking at the bump and scan pictures, looks so nice where you are Debs! I'm also having dizzy spells but have not fainted again thankfully although today was a close call. Made me nervous about being out on my own

Goingfor3, i'm looking forward to kicks above the belly button as baby is forever kicking me in the bladder.

Sorry your having a bad time with teachers and your DS1 Ernest.

ChinaSurprise · 26/01/2008 18:22

Evening all
Calebsmum - have you managed to scan your pix yet? Can't see them on your profile
Ernest - sorry you're having such a tough time. But at least you know what the score is now. Have you experimented with diet? (of course you have) - have just read a lot about how different foods can affect kids' moods etc.
G43 - I've also had a couple of higher kicks in the last few days - am 21 weeks now (omg).
Spent the day turning part of DH's gym into a yoga area for me, complete with soothing pix and candles. Lovely. Seems silly to do DIY when (fingers crossed) we should be moving in a couple of months, or soon after baba comes, but am so glad I did it - the room is a real haven and now I have no excuse not to pull my finger out. God bless Ikea.
DH has sore throat and sniffles. MIL told him it sounded like flu but thankfully he's not feeling too sorry for himself and I even managed to get him to hoover/ wash up as have been DIYing all day (DH can't tell one end of the screwdriver from the other) and I wasn't about to turn kitchen slave after all that.
Hope you're all well!

poppy34 · 26/01/2008 21:44

hi all - china very impressed with your diy skills .

congrats to calebsmum and all others who have had their scans. I've got my
20 week scan on thursday - hoping it all be ok (am certainly big enough and have felt movement) but apprehensive as there were major abnormalities shown at during my last pregnancy at 20 week scan and we subsequently lost our son so am going to prob keep my head down and lurk til know the score.
am feeling very superstitious about doing too much in terms of plannign til i get through the scan.
wishing luck for everyone else with scans this week

debinaustria · 27/01/2008 09:56

Poppy I'm so sorry to hear about your baby, and want to wish you all the luck for Thursday, keep us informed.

My scan is tomorrow and I'm very apprehensive now.

debinaustria · 27/01/2008 09:57

I didn't mean I'm apprehensive now that I read your post Poppy, just am apprehensive because it's tomorrow and all of a sudden it's here.

poppy34 · 27/01/2008 18:41

debs -fwiw try not to be too nervous. What went wrong on last one was very rare and I had an inkling for a little while (ok you could so that its wisdom in hindsight )that all wasnt well )- for example was tiny and no movement which all fitted with what was wrong.

Loads of luck tomorrow .. I dont want to worry anyone!!

debinaustria · 27/01/2008 19:49

Thanks Poppy, happy to say that baby is big and lots of movement. How are you doing this time? Are they keeping an eye on you?

Upsidedowncake · 27/01/2008 19:55

Debs, good luck with your scan tomorrow, and thanks for good holiday wishes. We had a fab time.

Ernest, sorry about all the problems you're having with ds1 and ds2. I hope it gets better for you - what are they suggesting doing? Will they be going to British school in Milan then?

Calebsmum, congratulations! Will you change your name when dd is born?

China, love the wee tip. My baby is sitting on my bladder and my intestine it feels like, so am not the most continent of people right now. I don't remember any of this stuff from last time.

Aberdeenhiker - love the picture of you and ds. Gorgeous.

Sarey1 · 27/01/2008 21:15

Um, hello everyone! My first baby is due June 4th so I'm very new to everything and just getting used to having a bump and being 'properly' pregnant ... it's really good to read all your posts and remember I am definitely not the only person feeling the way I do! Have spent the last half hour sat on the sofa reading this with DH feeling proper big kicks for the 1st time - he's really excited with every little thump and said he feels like there are now three of us in the room! Love and hugs to all from me and bump x

PregnantPenguin · 27/01/2008 21:41

Hi All. Another first time Mum to be here. I'm due on 12th June and am finding Mumsnet invaluable! Hubbie and I have very little in the way of family or friends who have had children, so the posts and reviews are really helpful.

Not feeling any kicks as such yet, but can definitely tell that something's in there! Got 20 week scan next Thursday (at 22 weeks!).

The whole thing is so exciting, but scary too. It's great to know so many of us are going through it together. Congratulations and good luck everyone.

debinaustria · 27/01/2008 22:48

Welcome to the group Sarey and Penguin, there are quite a few old hands here - I think I'm the oldest but Ernest beats me with 3 boys to my 2!!So, any questions however silly they may seem to you, please ask away.

My boys are aged 5 and 7 and I got broody all of a sudden last summer, and here I am starting again from scratch.

goingfor3 · 28/01/2008 08:05

poppy34 good luck for your scan, I can't even begin to imagine how nerve wracking it must be for you.

Debs, good luck for yours too.

PregnantPenguin and Sarey1, welocome to the thread and congratulations!

ChinaSurprise · 28/01/2008 09:46

Welcome to the newbies!
Debs - hope your scan goes well today - you must be excited and nervous. I barely slept at all last Sunday night waiting for mine.
Poppy - sorry to hear you are feeling slightly worried after your last sad experience. I'll be thinking of you this week.
Not much to report from the weekend. DH still majorly poorly and left him tucked in bed as I left for work. He's hardly ever ill so isn't handling it very well, and has really wound me up at time this weekend by really wallowing in it. Must try to be more sympathetic...
