The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

NH101, my scan took about 25 mins. First the sonographer showed us the baby and pointed everything out to us, then she took measurements, then photos and the she did the sex of the baby. The length of time depnds on the position of the baby/babies, maybe yours were posing nicely!

sophiewd · 17/01/2008 09:59

Good morning all, very exciting about scans, have mine in 4 weeks, so getting impatient, also meet my consultant for the first time and hopefully book a date for the birth. Sad I know but need to know when so as not to book anyone in!!!!

Off to nurse today as managed to pour hot duck fat over my hand last night and is blistering up nicely. Can't really do anything at the moment, so DH is sorting DD out and cooking. Fab.

good luck with any scans and appointments coming up.

ChinaSurprise · 17/01/2008 10:43

Morning all. Baby kicking like a trooper this morning! Don't know why of course, but very distracting. Hee.
Am getting excited about my scan now. My bump has had a growth spurt in the last few days and swear I look about six months now (although no doubt will be even bigger then!)
Just wanted to say re feet - am a size eight now and 5ft 10ins, but I was 5ft8ins and a size seven by the time I was 11 years old! My hubbie is also tall so I suspect we're going to have a giant!
Do they do a birth weight prediction at the 20wk scan?

goingfor3 · 17/01/2008 10:46

ChinaSurprise on my scan report it said that the baby is already 405g but doesn't predict the birth weight. You should get a graph which shows you the measuremets of you baby and how they compare to average.

debinaustria · 17/01/2008 10:52

Ouch Sophie your hand sounds sore, get better soon

josey · 17/01/2008 11:09

Morning
Going for scan this afternoon DH left for Norway again this morning so dragging my Mum along.
DS is in bed sick now where I wish I was someone really should invent a cold/flu cure for us poor waddling ladies.

Wow at the size 8 feet im a titchy size 4 though have very wide feet so end up in a 5 mostly. I am 5ft8" so very out of proportion I find it hard in early pregnancy with the big boobs to balance

Ouch Sophie hope your hand will be ok your being very brave.

I must look at the graph I got at 12 weeks, Im a bit worried this one is big as both other babies were born 2 days before scan date and this time they have made my due date earlier from the scan, DS was 7lb4oz and DD was 7lb14oz so am I in for another 10oz jump? that would be what 8lb8oz

makecakesnotwar · 17/01/2008 12:16

Can I just say that I am terribly jealous of all you girls who already know what they are having. Am 21 weeks today and still impatiently waiting for 7th Feb when I get to find out.

Definitely have an issue in the wee department when I sneeze/cough- which I am doing a lot at the moment as flying seems to have given me a cold. Trip was great but I'm glad I'm not getting on a plane again. Even at the halfway point it was a challenge getting in and out of my seat, and every time they switched off the seatbelt sign the misoginist t*sser in front put his chair back, sending my table straight into my belly . Bubba was not best pleased, and gave me hideous swollen ankles! Still, the wedding was fab and I'm so glad I was there!

And hugs to Sophie-hope your hand gets better soon!

ChinaSurprise · 17/01/2008 12:37

Sorry, forgot to say, Sophie, really hope your hands get better soon - you poor thing.

aberdeenhiker · 17/01/2008 12:40

No bad stories about flying while pregnant please! Uggh, I've got at least three trips still to come, one at 32 weeks and one maybe even later (they're all within the EU so at least they're short trips) and I'm worried about them. Last time I flew at 31 weeks and it was okay, but exhausting.

OP posts:
gr1973 · 17/01/2008 13:00

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh at the thought of nightmare flying trips - have two 7 hour flights next week and it hadn't occured to me that they may be problematic. Any flying-while-pregnant tips?

Sophie - so sorry to hear about your hand, it must be painful. I burnt my hand on some steam a few years back any it was agony. Hope the nurse sorts you out.

After all the dithering about finding out baby's sex I've now decided I dont want to know. I'm sure that as soon as the scan's over I'll change my mind again though...

systemsaddict · 17/01/2008 15:53

Been AWOL again - energy levels are unpredictably way up and down, when up I run around doing loads, tidying sorting etc, when down I slump! but wanted to check in as had scan this morning, all fine, baby in good position so v. quick, it's a girl (hence why I felt so rough 1st trimester compared to last time, I reckon). Haven't really felt movements beyond the odd quiver yet so glad to see she is OK - she was pretty chilled out, lying back ankles crossed, waving v. gently and making sucking movements but no somersaults or kicks - no wonder I've not felt anything if she's always that calm! Lovely close-up of face too. Now just have to get my head around having a girl - it was what I expected but I feel like I know how to do boys now, girls are a mystery! Great news all the other recent scans.

makecakesnotwar · 17/01/2008 16:51

gr973: drink lots and lots and lots....then you end up having to get up lots and lots which will hopefully prevent fat ankle syndrome. Obviously get a bulkhead/aisle seat where poss.

Sorry aberdeen hiker.

PiggyPenguin · 17/01/2008 17:09

Sophie, ouch about the hand - hope it feels better soon, it sounds agonising!

Congratulations to those who had found out the sex of their babies but I feel a bit isolated over here on the boys side - everyone else seems to be having girls so far!

i am also amazed at the number of size eight feet on this thread! I'm a puny size three which is also annoying as lots of styles don't come in that low a size. I do get to buy vat free kids trainers though!

josey · 17/01/2008 17:23

Systemsaddict congratulations.

I also had scan all is fine they didnt tell me what I was having(though I think I may have seen if I was looking at the right bit) they have messured the baby at being 21+1 instead of my original guess of 19+5 and the last scan date of 20+1 which is a bit as its more likely I have a blooding big bouncer inside my tum rather than being that much further on, anyone agree with me??

I have a lovely scan pic of my lo's feet I will try and post it later I think I might put that one in a frame.

systemsaddict · 17/01/2008 17:43

AFAIK josey I think the scan estimates of dates are less accurate by now (that's why they do dating scans early) and size predicted on scan has a big plus or minus error - having said that, nothing wrong with having a big bouncing healthy baby either!

ernest · 17/01/2008 18:12

my next scan is in 2 weeks (wed 30th). fingers crossed I find out which flavour.

my sil depressed me by shrieking at my 7 k gain and saying she only gained 11 k the whole pg, and then continued by saying as it's my 4th it's only to be expected I'll be like the back end of a bus.
dh home tomorrow.

ds2 better and back to school today. ds3 still bad and so had another disturbed night followed by 5.30 start . Tile man came yesterday and replaced some tiles, so entire house covered in thick white powder, so after no sleep had to wash down every surface, including both sides of doors, even inside cupboards as well as hoovering and mopping all over. so at least house is clean and tidy all over, but could've done without it today. Am like zombie now. fingers crossed ds3 has better night, groan. he is cute tho at least, so I wasn't even tempted to murder him once.

systemsaddict · 17/01/2008 18:50

wow ernest you are good - under similar circumstances my house would stay powdery for weeks!

aberdeenhiker · 17/01/2008 19:28

systemsaddict and josey - congrats on great scans... Josey dose this mean you're guessing a boy? (since boy bits are easier to see on the scan than girl parts...)

My scan's tomorrow - I'm nervous about it and will be so happy to hear that everything's okay.

josey, I agree with systemsaddict - I think scans aren't as accurate by this time along. When we had our scan with DS half of his measurements were a week ahead and half were a week behind - and he came out rather normal.

ernest - you're a saint if you're still speaking to your sil. I know that if I only gained 11kg in pregnancy I'd end up with a malnourished baby - some of us just need to gain more weight. However, if someone said that to me I might be tempted to smack them...

OP posts:
ernest · 17/01/2008 19:33

luckily for her my arms can't reach from Zürich to London.

josey · 17/01/2008 20:37

thanks for the scan info, I had thought the same but she has amended my gestation weeks so who knows I wont complain if I go early thats for sure the other date given was mums birthday so she was quite chuffed. Well at least bub is measuring big and not small just hope it doesnt reach megga size, I had better slow down on the custard doughnuts that I have taken a thing for the last 2 days!!

ernest I think if I were you I would be looking for gogo gaget arms with a large boxing glove, everybodys different in pregnancy whether they eat or not I bet she was misserable the whole 9 months anyway.

debinaustria · 17/01/2008 21:43

SA - Congratulations on your girl!!

Josey - mmm custard doughnuts sound so good to me

Ernest - another hectic day for you then.

Another week and a bit to go before my next scan where we hope to find out the sex. Tristan is convinced he's getting a sister!!

ernest · 18/01/2008 06:04

did i say yesterday ds3 was cute so didn't feel tempted to murder???
Scrap that. at 4.30 this am he didn't seem so bloody cute. especially as it wasn't for a 'genuine' middle of the night emergency, like more calpol, wee, drink. he wanted to change beds and sleep with his brother. and this is how we ended last night - tantrum about sleeping in brother's room.

so now feel toatlly murderous, throbbing head, thorbbing sinuses, sore throat. but hey.

nice to start the day with a good, refreshing moan.

deb, when your appointment? I forgot.

sil was food neurotic during entire pg, bless her. got phone calls on verge of tears cos she'd eaten a prawn and regretted it. now driving herself insane with worry weaning pfb. call last night stressing cos she's introduced new food (lump of bread to chew on) at evening meal, (5.30 pm) not at lunch time, and considering going to her every half an hour to make sure all ok. I managed, after 2 international phone calls to reasure her than a bit of bread wasn't a deadly weapon.

I shouldn't be mean. I love my sil very much. I am just evil with tiredness today.

aberdeenhiker · 18/01/2008 08:07

ernest - it was my DH who woke me up in the night with his insomnia... boys never change do they?

I'm laughing at your stories of your sil - that's horrible of me but they're really making me laugh today - I must be equally evil!

OP posts:
gr1973 · 18/01/2008 08:41

Ernest - I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of you today, watch out world . Hope you feel a bit better soon...

I finish up at work today for some hols to anticipate being super harassed and stressed by the end of the day.... Cant believe that after the flying chat yesterday that I went home to see a BA plan crash at Heathrow. OBviously I'm very glad that everyone is ok, but guess who I'm flying with and where from...

Right better crack on with it..

debinaustria · 18/01/2008 08:51

Ernest - or should we call you evil ernest today? My appointment's on the 28th, 2 days before you.
Ds2 also woke me up in the night twice, 1st time he couldn't find his teddy, so I got up and sorted him out, then half an hour later he reappeared - said teddy had gone again - I wasn't so kind this time, told him to find another one and get back to sleep - which he did. Then I made dh get up to ds1 this morning whilst I had an extra half an hour.

Hope you feel better soon

I can't believe I'm 20 weeks today!!!

Still got morning sickness though, incontinent (at times) , feel like heartburn will be troubling me soon and I'm sure piles will follow shortly!!!

I hope the next 20 fly by for all of us.
