The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

Also suffering with bladder weakness, if I cough or sneeze I leak and it's not always a small amount either . Am doing pelvic floor exercises and wearing sanitary pads. Baby seems to be lying quite heavily on my bladder.

Only another week to go and we can find out the sex hopefully!

ernest · 15/01/2008 20:36

Luckily no leaking here, tho goodness knows how after 3.4 pg. I just keep waiting for my body to fall apart. I rmember at my antnatal group (ds1) there was a mum who was expecting dc4. We were all open jawed in amazement. But anyway, I clearly remember her saying she'd had no problems the previous 3 times, but this time everything was going wrong, varicose veins etc etc, so am just waiting for it all to happen I remember late pg with ds1 I was walking along and dh said something funny and I started to leak and I was laughing and begging him to stop. Him not realising thought it was hilarious to make me laugh so hard , so in between panting laughs I had to say - please - stop - you're -making-me wet-myself.

He evntually shut up, but I did have a rather uncomfortable wander round B & bloody Q.

This time, tho no leaks, can't explian, but my ahem undercarriage just feels really heavy. A really weird and horrible feeling. Don't remember it from other 3 pg. Hope it doesn't last for the next 21 weeks.

sleeping better at least.

and have tried not to be such a pig today.

ChinaSurprise · 15/01/2008 21:35

Evening all
Urgh. Had a really rotten moment after work today. Had some terrible dreams last night about going into labour and not being able to give birth and they all came flooding back this evening, leaving me in tears. Have been v hormonal.
Two people have asked me if I'm having twins in the last week which has made me feel v down and frumpy. I'm not even that big and I'm nearly 5 months ffs! What do they expect? It seems every time I say I'm due "early June" people do some dumb calculation which puts me at three months and so consequently think I'm enormo for how far along. Grrr.
Am feeling blessed that DH actually has a thing for preggy ladies and still fancies me as, unusually for me, my self-esteem is taking a bit of a battering.
Also really effed off as, despite having 100 different types of tights (AND maternity bras) and a huge kids clothes section, my local M&S doesn't have a single pair of maternity tights for sale and mine are getting really uncomfortable. Tried to order online and they're £6 with £3.50 delivery!!! So unfair. I got some from ebay instead in the end but it really made me feel like a second class citizen. Am even thinking about writing a whinging letter.
Grrr. Rant over

katyjo · 15/01/2008 22:59

HI everyone,

lol at bladder stories! I have been working on my pelvic floor definately not as strong as when pregnant with ds!

China, people are so insensitive! Everyone seems to think the 'your so big, you must be having twins' joke is hilarious but actually its quite annoying. I always found it was best to say you were due around the end/beg of, sounds alot sooner and ds was actually born on the 22nd March and orig due date was 4th April.

I've been feeling pretty hormonal, one minute I'm all excited and sorting things out the next I'm worrying about something or other - pregnancy eh!

debinaustria · 16/01/2008 06:22

Ernest you are a bad influence, I have just had a huge bowl of sugar puffs - 1st time in a few months but I saw them in the shop yesterday, thought of you and couldn't resist them. Obviously if I end up the size of a bus I will hold you responsible

China I keep getting the look when I say I'm due early June, they look at my bump in amazement. I did realise that last night I could make it look smaller if I held my stomach in , but why should I bother - I'm pregnant for goodness sake

Very pleased that I'm not alone in the incontinence club!!

Busy day today, got ds2 on Kindergarten ski course all week so he needs taking and fetching back, my cousin and wife are arriving to stay in our spare room for a few days, the house is a tip and I still have the big apartment to get cleaned ready for Saturday and the next guests. Ironing pile is growing daily and drier is getting temperamental in it's old age. I shouldn't really be on here but I can't start work at 7.21am can I???

ernest · 16/01/2008 07:13

actually deb, that's a fantastic idea and a very generous offer. I ut all my evil food fantasies on here, and you lot eat it. simple Then you all gain the weight, and me not. except it's too late.

Spoke too soon about sleeping better - ds2 & 3 both up in the night. am gonna have to take ds3 to docs I think, temp 39.8 and shaking so much he can't stand up, been like this on and off since Saturday. prob is, 1 spoon of calpol sort him right out, so he'll be skiping round the surgery like a spring lamb, and making me look like a neurotic arse, but this is day 5 and I was really worried last night, he was just so hot and droopy and listless. Then the calpol kicked in and he was as high as a kite, break dancing on bed with ds1 till after 9 pm grrrr.

debinaustria · 16/01/2008 08:57

Ernest - I think I'd like to withdraw my generous offer to eat all the bad stuff you post about, come on you know you want to post about cravings for fruit, vegetable soup and bran flakes.(just had a chocolate digestive)

Hope your ds is better soon and the Calpol doesn't kick in until after the visit to the Drs.

Children always manage to prove their parents wrong don't they, On Monday the children had to do as assessment to put them in the right ski groups. I was watching all these children and said to dh and another Mum "Tristan won't be in that group as he's still snowploughing turns", next up was Tristan who showed off his parallel turns

gr1973 · 16/01/2008 09:03

CS - re your tights, you could order some instore at M&S so you dont have to pay delivery? (Although it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect them to have some in store).

Re: the whole world being insensitive about pg women and their weight... I'm really really really fed up with people asking how I am then trying to take a very un-subtle sneaky glance at my stomach to see how fat I'm getting. HELLO!! I'm still here, I can see you checking out my bump!

Ernest - hope your ds better soon.

josey · 16/01/2008 10:44

Hello all, creaping back in with eyes on matchsticks after DD's illness and like your ds ernest when she had her me medicine it made her high although really sick and she has refused to sleep. Last night though was heaven when the alarm went off and DH and I realised she had slept all night.
Unfortunately we are all coming down with it now

on the Wee wee subject im not a doctor so dont expect medical terms from me but I was told in last pregnancy that your bladder isnt capable of fully emptying itself, so those wee pee's that we are doing is pee that is stuck in your pee cannal so when we think we are all pee'd out and get up and think 5mins later I need to wee thats what dribbles out and thats what tends to leak when sneezing etc though I havent had that issue as yet - try pelvic floor during a session with your Dh/Dp's works wonders for him and you and stops you weeing

with food im eating what I can get my hands on, savory is deff my thing just now as was with DS and DD i couldnt get enough cakes in my mouth and I never ate many before hand. DS i had an awful craving for bacon but i would spoon up the fat from the grill and eat that cause it was soo salty disgusting I know

I have my scan tomorrow I dont feel excited or anything which is a bit odd, I kind of wish I didnt have it as have never had a 20 week scan before. Though we are thinking of getting the 4D and gender scan done so dont know my lodgic there do pregnant woman have lodgic?

goingfor3 · 16/01/2008 12:40

Hello Ladies,

I had my scan today and it was amazing! The room had a screen on the wall infront of us so we could see everything. When the sonographer started the baby gave us a thumbs up which was very cute, we saw her feet, hands and saw her swallowing. It was more wonderful than I could have imagined despite the fact I've done it all before and had a few scans already this pregnancy. It's a girl so no excuses to buy any new clothes! Cervix is good at 3.2cms. I spoke to the epu midwife after the scan and she said it's very good news that it's a girl as they do better if they are born prematurely than boys do. I hope you all have as good a veiw as I did when you go for your scans.

gr1973 · 16/01/2008 12:52

another post on the subject of wee/pee... I've read in a few places that if you lean forward and kind of rock a little it helps empty your bladder. PArticularly good last thing at night to help prevent those annoying trips to the loo through the night! I've been doing it for a while and not been too bothered with needing to go at night so far. Although I am having dreadful problems sleeping anyway.

G43 - glad you had a good scan. Mine isn't for another couple of weeks

Josey - I'm sure you'll love your scan. Everyone tells me the 20 week scan is amazing. Maybe if all you've had with this and previous pregnancies is earlier scans they've just started to lose their mystery a wee bit? Pregnancy logic!

ChinaSurprise · 16/01/2008 13:17

Hey G43 - that's brilliant news! Am soo glad your scan went well. And you're having a girl! Bless. Glad to hear all the technical stuff was good too.
I've got my scan on Monday coming and am really excited to see the baby again and find out what it is, but, like you, also nervous because of the potential of complications. Fingers crossed...
Anyhoo, got another question for ladies already feeling kicks. Do you tend to feel your kicks in the same area? Either bub always kicks me in one of about three places or those are the only places I can feel it so far.
It's always either right at the front of my groin (sorry if tmi), to the right of that, lower down, or to the side quite sharply.
Can any of you veterans give a newbie some answers - why can't I feel it all over? Surely bub is moving around more than that?! Am 19 weeks today.

josey · 16/01/2008 13:56

G43 great news congrats on having another girl

China at the moment bub will be using you as a swimming pool back and forward with the odd summersault in there so you will feel movements everywhere just now when they get bigger it tends to be in the same place for a bit until they move plus you can usually work out which bodypart are giving you the most grief, I used to love tucking the foot or elbows back from under my ribs!!

aberdeenhiker · 16/01/2008 14:06

China, I think at this point our uterus(s) are still low (below our belly buttons) so we tend to feel things lower down. As the uterus moves up, you'll feel things higher up (like in your ribs!).

G43, great news for your scan. Mine's on friday and I'm nervous-excited. Josey - I liked the 20 week one last time once we started to relax and feel like DS was okay. I always feel nervous beforehand but then if it goes well, I'm so thrilled afterwards!

debinaustria · 16/01/2008 14:55

G43 congratulations on your girl, sounds like a good scan with a screen for you to watch too.

calebsmum · 16/01/2008 15:11

Hey G43 - that's brilliant news congrats on having a girl!

China, I buy stuff from eBay for myself and DS and have never felt like a second class citizen! Your uterus is still quite low down soon you'll be getting feet in the ribs and heartburn!

Baby is kicking up a right fuss at the moment, I can actually feel him/her kicking when I have my hand on my stomach and DP felt him/her kick last night! Looking forward to scan next week, am really hungry all the time at the moment and thirsty.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 16/01/2008 15:46

Hi everyone! Haven;t been around for AGES but I have just read the last couple of pages of the thread and they made me laugh! I have also had a bad cold and sneezing has given me a few pee scares! Also I am needing to go the loo loads and when I go there are just trickles. I never had that even in the first trimester so it weird.

My DH felt one of our babies kick the week before Christmas (brag brag!) and now he gets bored feeling my belly waiting for it to happen! They are moving around laods which is so lovely. I am actually due May 29 now and obviously it is twins so all these things are happening a bit earlier for me than probably for everyone else but I'm sure you're not far behind. I also look about 7 months pregnant! Loving it though.

We had our 20 week scan last Friday, one baby is a boy but they couldn't tell what the other one was. We are calling him Theo. Next scan Mar 6 to check growth of babies so will find out sex of the other one then. I think it is a girl (just a gut feeling). They are both fine though,

How long did everyone's 20 week scan take? Mine was about 10 minutes but my friend says hers was 90 mins with her twins and an hour for her other baby (just the scan bit too not the midwife appt as well)?

ChinaSurprise · 16/01/2008 16:58

calebsmum I didn't mean I felt like a second class citizen for buying from ebay! I LOVE ebay and buy and sell on there all the time (and am v proud of my 100% feedback) .
What I meant was I thought it was totally crap of M&S to not sell maternity tights in what is actually a pretty big store, when they're quite happy to take my money for £15 babygros... (not that I'll be buying those - ebay here I come!)
nh101 glad to hear your scan went well. DH has so far failed to feel LO but hopefully will soon. What an exciting week for us all

goingfor3 · 16/01/2008 18:45

Nh101, so glad to hear both babies are doing well! Theo is a lovely name and one that I had suggested to DP if we were having a boy, now we know it's a girl I have chosen the name Matilda for now anyway.

CS, when I want something from M&S that they don't have in the shop (mine is useles too) I order it in the shop and avoid paying postage.

aberdeenhiker · 16/01/2008 19:29

nh101, it's great to hear from you! You'll have to keep us updated - since things are happening earlier for you, you can act as a mentor for the rest of us.

Upsidedowncake · 16/01/2008 20:09

Great to hear from you nh101, so glad that all well. I really like the name Theo too.

Re feeling like a second class citizen, I have always felt like that, as I have size 8 feet and large bosoms! I remember once asking for some shoes in my size about three years ago (in a high street chain) and being told, 'I'm afraid we only do these shoes in normal sizes!'

There is more choice now that I'm older and more and more people have my size feet, and I also love Bravissimo for upholstery, but I totally empathise with the second class citizen thing.

Very jelly-bags of all you people having scans. Mine isn't till February 11th.

ChinaSurprise · 16/01/2008 21:17

Hi upsidedowncake. I'm also a size eight and know exactly what you mean.
And I hate it when shops sell shoes they say are size eight but are actually 41 not 42 so they're too small. Grrrr. But I've got a pal with size ten feet, so it could be worse!
Night all

debinaustria · 16/01/2008 21:47

Nh101 - lovely to have you back, I wondered how you were getting on, it must be strange to feel 2 moving around. I love feeling the baby move, dh and ds1 have felt it but poor ds2 seems to always miss it.

goingfor3 · 17/01/2008 07:53

I've got size 8 feet too. I agree it used to be really hard to find shoes but now 8 is a more standard size. DD1 is only six and already a size 1 !
