The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

gr1973 - I'm not sure how often we get seen here but I'll find out on Tuesday when I will next get seen. Does that mean ANOTHER blood test then We should get results around same sort of time then. Oh, and yes you did post on my thread, thanks Can't believe I was being spyed on, never in a million years would have expected that otherwise I wouldn't have posted

gr1973 · 03/01/2008 18:35

debinaustria · 03/01/2008 19:16

Ernest - a disappointing day for you too, especially with you taking the boys with you. My next appointment is 28th Jan, when's yours?

letitsnow - hope things settle down soon

Parofleurmapu · 03/01/2008 20:32

Hello all

Congratulation on all going well after the amnio josie57

Back from appointment and as you can see by name change We are going to have a girl so it will be called Fleur!!!
Very pleased, hope every one else finds out soon and glad all is going well for you all.

well must go as lasaña and chips await ummmm yummmy !!!

sophiewd · 03/01/2008 20:57

Hi all and welcome to the flurry of newbies.

Josie - good news on amnio, I hope you can relax and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy.

Well my maternity clothes have arrived, was skint last time to nice to be able to buy some proper mat clothes.

Things have quietened down here after a busy new year, managed to double book so we ended up sleeping on matresses on sitting room floor on NYE which wasn't too bad, while someone had our bedroom, at least it gor me off my backside and sorted out our bedroom.

Have got another 6 weeks until next scan and also consultant appointment so can't wait for that and hopefully get some bookings in for February so we don't have to raid savings too much.

That reborn baby programme was weird last night. The grandmother who had Harry, how could she ask her daughter to leave him behind. she needed help but also as my DH said, if they have retired then why couldn't they sell up and move to NZ.

And very sadly we are already planning a holiday in November with DD and baby so will be asking your advice on destinations later on when we have narrowed it down.

Good luck with any appointments and scans coming up. Sorry for waffling on.

debinaustria · 03/01/2008 21:37

Congratulations parofleur... what lovely news.

Sophie - double booking - what a nightmare. It would have taken me a long time to sort out our bedroom if it had happened here!

josey · 03/01/2008 22:58

Congrats Parofleur... thats the 1st confirmed girl of the thread.... so jealous you all get to find out what you are having, have never been told before as only ever got a 12week scan and now I get a 20week its policy not to say grrrrr!

The snow has got really heavey here now, it looks lovely, thinking yes nice cosy day in the I looked in the fridge and im going to have to find away to magic milk into the fridge before my dd goes mad!! oh well.

aberdeenhiker · 04/01/2008 09:48

gr1973, 7 weeks between midwife visits at this point is sadly pretty good. The rule up here in Grampian is that for second pregnancies there's supposed to be 12 weeks between your 16 week visit (for blood tests) and the 28 week visit. My midwife's seeing me at 24 weeks though (same as I had in my first pregnancy) because she says she's tired of having to run around and fill in everyone's mat leave forms (due at 25 weeks) when they don't have an appointment.

Josey - a friend of mine is paying for a private gender scan in Aberdeen this weekend. The price starts at £75 though - so I'll probably skip it even though I'd love to know! If you'd be interested though I'll get the name of the place for you.

Now back at work and finally told my boss. Guess I've been hiding it better than I thought as he was pretty shocked. But he was genuinely nice about it - his DW is still on maternity leave so I think that helped.
Xmas was odd. Think I said my gran died on the 21st? Well, one of our pet ratties died on Christmas Day evening and my brother had just announced split from his partner too so was all a bit weird.
Despite the various sad news we had a good, relaxing time and my pal had DS2 a week early on NYE! No time to get to hosp so was HB, which is what she'd wanted with DS1 (was emergency CS)
Bean is more active than ever and now often feel movement - usually in the evenings, but it's been really wriggling this morning!
Had my bloods results back and all good news - clear for SB (two cases on DH's side) and 1 in 1,100 for DS, which is great for my age (32).
Josie57 - glad to hear your amnio went well
gr1973 - you can always call your MW and ask for test results to help ease the wait - I did this yesterday, about 2 weeks after my tests
libra - sorry you've had a tough time of it! My sympathies.

My 20wk scan and consultant appt re bicornuate uterus are on Jan 21, so now it's just s fortnight away and am pretty excited about it.

Hello to even more newbies and happy new year!
China

ernest · 04/01/2008 11:42

hi all. you glad to be back at work cs? Glad your boss took your news well.

I'm trying to organise 2 holidays, I guess I'll start a thread, but if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.

  1. the spring holidays (annoyingly no easter holiday, it's about 6 weeks after easter so I'll be about 31 weeks) dh wants to return to somewhere like Greece, so flying - we nearly always drive on holiday, so he wants to go somewhere further afield. I reckon this'll be a lot easier with 'just' 3 kids and no baby to worry about. But I'll be 31-32 weeks pg.

And the big one is a 2 week holiday with baby in tow 1st 2 weeks of August . Must be drivable from Zürich but 'return' drive to Milan. South of France seems obvious but worried about heat. Dh looking at getting a mobile home type thing on a campsite - we'll need loads for the 3 boys to do. But I'm worried about noise - either us waking up fellow campers with 6 week old baby, or them waking us up. I'd rather have an apartment with solid walls, but can't find one that has the kids club and all the stuff going on. Any ideas?

Deb, my next appointment is 31st Jan, so exactly 4 weeks after last. Unfortunately didn't realise it's during the school hoildays so will have to go with the 3 boys in tow, ohne dh.

Wish they could've told me gender yesterday. I'm so sick of all the comments now that I must be desperate for a girl at least it would shut everybody up. But also I'm actually getting really anxious about it. I was never bothered the other 3 times, but this time I actually worry in case it is a girl. I would much prefer a boy for many many reasons. I am trying hard to put the gender issue out of my mind but other people constantly go on about it and it's not fun.

Congrats on your news Parofleurmapu. Am you know.

gr1973 · 04/01/2008 12:39

hi everyone,

thanks aberdeenhiker, that's made me feel better about my 7 week gap (though sorry its because you get a 12 week gap!).

Sorry you wont get to find out gender Josey - at least you get a 20 week scan though!

I've been looking into private scan options so just waiting on a few places getting back to me. It really annoys me that I have to pay just because of where I live. Grrrr again. Sorry, will stop moaning about it.

Chinasurprise - good idea re calling mw from the results; the mw is based at my gp surgery where it takes a notoriously long time to get results back. It's literally round the corner from me but assuming all ok they will post the results to me! What a waste of NHS resources.

Crikey, I'm a bit moany today so me and my grumpy hormones away to pick on someone else.

Hope everyone well - sorry again to everyone who wanted to know gender but didnt get it. Oh and congrats parofleur - lovely girls name btw; it's also on my list.

ChinaSurprise · 04/01/2008 14:18

"lo
Yes, glad to be back at work. I do love my job - and feel very lucky for that. Not v motivated today tho.
Yes, gr1973 - deffo call the midwife - there's no reason for her not to tell you over the phone and it saves the nerves of waiting.
Woo! I just got kicked again :-)
I went to Blooming Marvellous at lunch and got four tops and two dresses in the sale for a grand total of £47 - if you've got one locally they're having their stock changeover today so they've just dropped all their sale prices again - worth a look...
Later!

josey · 04/01/2008 15:16

Glad your boss took the news well china

Aberdeenhiker, thanks thats good to know, I think my DH might kill me if i suggested that and tell me to be patient

Ernest what about Centre Parcs they have one in France that way you and baby could stay in your house/cabin and DH and the boys have everything else at hand though 2 weeks might be too long a stay there, not sure.

LittleMintSpy34 · 04/01/2008 20:25

Hello everyone, hope you all had lovely christmases? The last lot of relatives have just left so we are collapsed in a heap on the sofa. DS1 is so unsettled by the whole holiday that he won't go to bed and nothing works to calm him, not singing, not cuddling, nothing, so have had to let him scream

looking forward to life getting back to normal.....

libralady · 04/01/2008 21:05

Hi letitsnow

Hope you are Ok with whatever happened.

Eveneing to everyon else.

Thanks for your kind wishes. I'm completely fine now and DS is none the worse thank goodness. I did however send an e-mail today to the compalints department at healthcare commission re the route the ambulance took. Don't know if I mentioned but the route they are instructed to take takes them over a lifting bridge which happened to be raised at the time. There is an alternative route along a dual carriageway which is quicker, but the original route is shorter. Paramedics were panicking as they knew they were on a shout to a choking child! Have also sent an e-mail to my local MP. I know nothing will come of it, but I feel better for getting the frustration and anger off my chest. It could have been a matter of life or death!

goingfor3 · 04/01/2008 21:26

Hello all,

Feel very envious of those of you who have found out what you are having. Hopefully I'll be told at the scan next week or the week after. I went shopping and bought myself some maternity tops on sale in mothercare and quite a few baby bits from H&M, mainly long sleeve vests reduced to £1. I really need some new bras so better look at that now, I had some really good ones last time but seem to have misplaced them.

libralady I missed your message so am not sure what happened but the little bit I just saw sounds really frightening.

poppy34 · 04/01/2008 22:31

hi all - just read goingfor3's message - has anyone got any good tips for comfy maternity/similar bras? Even though i've remeasured most of mine seem very uncomfortable and tight.

sophiewd · 05/01/2008 08:55

Libralady, am shocked that they have to go over Poole Bridge as so many better routes, if there is anything I can do to help, even though just outside then let me know.

goingfor3 · 05/01/2008 10:25

poppy34 I'm going to get Bravado bras, they are really comfy and if you get one now it will still fit at the end of pregnancy and through bf. I found the double + one really comfy

katyjo · 05/01/2008 10:45

Congrats again Paro! That's a lovely name. Did you say you were planning to get married in March? I probably read it wrong, but I got married when I was 5 months pregnant with ds, only just over 2 years ago. I wanted to say we had a lovely day it was so special knowing that we were having our first baby a few months later. My only advice is think about your dress, as some of the shops can be a bit snooty about ordering time, I got mine from debenhams in the end and had it altered by a private dressmaker and they were all lovely!

Sophie and Poppy I am in desperate need of bras too, the only one I had which was any good was a firm support m+s sports bra with no underwires, which I still wear but its seen better days!

gr 1973 - I'm in Glasgow so don't get a 20 week scan either, paid to get a 3d scan at babbyscanning last time but its a bit gimicky and they say they don't do an anomaly check, although sonogragher did check all the organs so I'm not sure what to do this time. There was a thread of few weeks ago and I know someone from Edinburgh was saying how good somewhere was, health something I think. I can't believe they leave it so long between checks, I am 4 weekly at the mo and that seems a long time! Are you going to Simpson, my Dh's cousin is booked in there due in March.

Upsidedowncake · 05/01/2008 11:04

China, glad your boss took it so well. THat's great news. And you managed to wow them for a month before telling them.

Letitsnow, hope you are OK.

Bras, I am wearing an underwired maternity bra which 'lifts and separates' even for 36H (which is what I am bursting out of ...) It's from www.anita.com and is really comfy.

Parofleur, lovely name.

Make cakes, I also like George and Cecily, very nice and old-fashioned.

Ours will either be called Dorothy or Dominic. Ds1's name begins with C and we are A and B (and didn't properly cotton on to the alphabetic ramifications). But now we have to follow tradition and go for a D ... !

Sophie, Ernest, lovely to plan hols. Ernest, what about the Italian lakes if you want something slightly cooler? I don't know about kids' clubs etc but there must be something.

Re midwife appointments, my next one is 28 April ... ie 16 weeks between appointments! But then they are every 2 weeks.

josey · 05/01/2008 11:09

Katyjo, your 3d scan was it worth it even if gimicky? I will get my norm 20weeks scan but I fancy knowing the sex and getting a dvd had a look at the babyscanning website and DH is quite keen though we just thinking is it just a bit of a waste, this IS the last time I will be pregnant soooo.

Aberdeenhiker, thanks for the tip off by the way I found the website after having a think and forwarded it to DH as he is away and I got a response I never thought I would get!

Just got a lovely flowers delivered from my DH as well made me feel better after a night of drinking gaviscon!
