The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Finalypregnant - congratulations - 3.5 years - wow. Yes you could be easily feeling the baby, especially if you lie flat on your back, hands on tummy and focus in on baby.

I've got my next appointment with gynae tomorrow, am looking forward to seeing baby again, checking all is OK and hoping that he'll be able to tell us the sex.

libralady · 02/01/2008 20:10

Happy New Year to everyone.

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days but it's been hectic with a few dramas thrown in for good measure!

Sunday, DH left at the crack of dawn to go and play golf with his cricket club buddies so decided to take DS to Poole Park to have a play and go for a walk. Picked up my Mum and Dad for good measure. Arrived at the play area and as soon as DS ran onto the rubbery tarmac stuff he slid from one side to the other. We'd had a slight frost over night and the protective matting was treacherous!
Decided to take a walk around the lake and feed the ducks. Got 3/4 of the way around and I slipped on some algae covered concrete and went straight down on my stomach and boobs so quickly I didn't have time to put my hand out in front of me (my other hand was holding DS so I brought him down with me!) Luckily we didn't end up in the lake! Felt such a bloody fool. Mum was going like a demented chicken by this point. Got up and carried on walking although by this time my boobs were bloody agony. Went to the cafe for a drink and then had a ride on the train around the park for DS. Got home and luckily DH turned up about 1.30. Climbed into bed feeling very sorry for myself. DH did me a hot water bottle ( not too hot) to help with the aching muscles I'd discovered. Think I managed to pull every muscle from my groin right up into my shoulders!
Abandoned the idea of going to a party at SIL house that night. Just as well I did as DH & DS went and DS decided to choke on a marshmallow. Ambulance called which took 10 minutes to arrive as they are routed over a lifting bridge over Poole Harbour which was up at the time!. DH tried everything to remove the wedged marshmallow and eventually managed to tickle his tonsils to make him gag. By the time the paramedics arrived DS was sat on DH's knee feeling sorry for himself. Even the paramedics were panicking by the time they got there due to the length of time it had taken them. DS then managed to polish off a huge amount of party food and juice but apparently he doesn't like sweeties now!
Then to top it off one of the rabbits died NYE. They say things happen in three's don't they?
Sorry this has been war and peace. Shows what happens when you don't come on for a few days.
I'll catch up with the other posts and come back later.
LLxx

Is anyone watching My Fake Baby on Ch4?

I am sat here in complete bewilderment!

Becky77 · 03/01/2008 10:00

I watch My Fake Baby!! How freaky was that?? It's one thing to collect dolls another thing to walk them around in a pram!

jules43 · 03/01/2008 11:26

That program last night " My Fake Baby" was scary, sad and strange... I sat with my mouth open shouting at the TV for a whole hour!

nettiehay · 03/01/2008 11:51

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, we went away over the break and didn't have access to a computer (bliss!)

I am jealous to hear of all you people feeling your baby. I am 18 weeks tomorrow, but can't feel anything (I don't think). But I have been dreaming about the baby kicking, so maybe it is up all night and asleep during the day?!

I have my next scan due on the 28th, but a week of skiing before that - it will be interesting, as my balance is already all over the place, so I don't know how I will go on two planks of wood down a hill!

Josie57 · 03/01/2008 13:01

Afternoon to all the newbies joining us - wave to you all.

The amnio went smoothly yesterday a bit uncomfortable but not as scary as I was expecting. Apart from the needle going in I watched the whole thing on the screen - it was a bit unnerving to see our little one throwing their head backwards towards where they had inserted the needle but fortunately by this time it was just the tube in the sac. My dh was wonderful and made me put my feet up all afternoon which was bliss as I never usually get the chance to sit down for more than 15 mins during the day. My inlaws had my ds so it was a very relaxing afternoon bar worrying about the results of course!!! Anyway the hospital called this morning which was a lot earlier than we were expecting and we've got the all clear - hip hip hooray. It's such a relief to know our little bub is fine.

Mind you the scan did show up some amniotic banding which I had never heard about before but is basically extra flaps of the amniotic sac that are inside the sac that can get entangled with the baby. It can be quite nasty as it can constrict limbs and digits and cause amputation but fortunately they could see all the limbs and digits moving freely on the scan so it looks like our little one has survived this trauma. This might explain the bleed I had earlier as it is often caused by a partial rupture of the amniotic sac so we were really lucky that we didn't lose the baby. I think we have got a little fighter on our hands as they have come through everything thrown at them so far. I think they are also a bit cheeky as they gave us a great shot of their bottom yesterday by standing on their head and waving it at us!!

Anyway, feeling really relieved as we can now start to tell people - hurrah!

libralady · 03/01/2008 13:12

Congratulations Josie57, bet you are mightily relieved. Now just rest up for a couple of days. Did you find out the sex?

gr1973 · 03/01/2008 13:18

glad it all went well josie57!

Upsidedowncake · 03/01/2008 13:36

Congratulations, Josie. What a relief. Good news that they could see all the digits moving freely as well.

Paromapu - what fabulous names, I love both Fleur and Robin. Suerte with your appointment.

I keep on feeling funny things in my tummy, but am sure it's probably ligaments stretching or something as I didn't feel ds1 until I was 21 weeks.

Keep on looking out of the window hoping for snow, but it hasn't come yet.

aberdeenhiker · 03/01/2008 13:38

great news josie57!

and libralady - wow - what a holidays you had! I'm so glad everything turned out okay though and hope the next few weeks are uneventful...

nettiehay - I'm 18 weeks today and even though this is my second baby, I'm not 100% sure I've felt anything yet. With my first, I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks - or at least anything that I could tell wasn't gas - so don't worry about not feeling things yet!

OP posts:
nettiehay · 03/01/2008 13:58

thanks aberdeenhiker - we spent new years with a friend who is 28 weeks and she spent the whole time going on about the baby moving about when she had a curry and spicy food - i was starting to worry a bit. She also looks very pregnant, whereas, I just look fat at the moment! I know my time will come, but it is still frustrating!

katyjo · 03/01/2008 14:03

So much news to take in, we've all been very busy!

Congratulations gr1973 and finally pregnant so pleased for you both!

Libralady - what a few days you had, hope your not too sore now.

Loving the names, my ds is Hamish, which I love but can't really think of anything else. Dh keeps coming up with really old fashioned names sound about 50, not really baby names.

Oh, that my fake baby thing made me feel a bit sick, and I only watched the advert, the people must have been a little bit strange!

debinaustria · 03/01/2008 14:26

Josie - that's great news

I had a scan today but Dr said he'd tell us the sex next time as the 22 week anomoly(sp?) scan, so a few more weeks to wait. But most importantly all was OK with the baby measuring exactly 18 weeks and it has a small head, oval shaped cross section rather than round? Never had that pointed out before. Also had an internal that I wasn't expecting to check the neck of the cervix and that was fine. Been prescribed iron tablets as I'm still being sick, problem is that I need food after my 1st sickness of the day but I have to take the tablet 1 hour before any milk products - so cereals will have to wait. Just hoping I can keep down the iron tablet.

Lazylou · 03/01/2008 14:35

I went for my ante natal appt today and heard the baby's heartbeat which was galloping along lovely. Dr said the baby seems to have a very strong heartbeat so this was reassuring.

We are having our next scan on 25th Jan (DD's 4th birthday!) when we will hopefully find out whether we have a Daniel or a Caitlin . Really excited and just wishing the next few weeks away!

On the moving front, I didn't feel DD until I was 24 weeks and this time, I have been feeling bean much earlier, from about 16 weeks. Started off as fluttering and bubbling but is now full blown kicks. I was surprised yesterday as he/she seemed to be awake all day, with only 20 minute breaks in between every so often.

Deb, this little one loves coke, always sends him/her kicking crazy! Also appears to like bus journeys as tends to go mad then too

finallypregnant · 03/01/2008 14:39

I really felt that the granny of Harry had serious health issues the way she was behaving. The other woman who went the states was just daft in my opinion. I too sat with my gob open!

jules43 · 03/01/2008 15:13

Congratulation on all going well after the amnio josie57 it must be such a relief...

I am having my amnio on the 9th Jan as I am classed as high risk (old!), can't wait for it to be over...

I seem to be getting bigger by the day but I am eating lots of chocolate biscuits!! Ooops

letitsnowletitsnowletitsnow · 03/01/2008 15:35

Hello all

Libralady - are you ok? What a nightmare!!!

It's looneytune here but I'm having to use a new name (long story, parents found a thread on MN and caused big probs). I'm not sure if I'm being watched so will just come back with another name and update the list at some point.

Josey - so pleased for you

Haven't read all messages as flying visit.

Catch you all later x

ernest · 03/01/2008 15:36

very pleased for you josie. amazing you got your results so quickly. Make sure you have a good rest.

I also had a scan this am. The whole lot of us came and the boys were very excited to see their little sibling. I was really disappointed doc couldn't tell me the gender. We didn't want to find out the other 3 times, but we've decided to this time so was really hopng I'd find out today, tho I knew it might be a bit early to tell, but as it was, Tinkely was lying with legs bent in between it's legs, very coyly refusing to let on either way. Go back 4 weeks today, so maybe we'll see then.

Other wise all Ok. Tho doc did mention test this time was for Spina Bifida. I just wish he'd do it and not say any specific tests, cos now he's said the words Spina Bifida I'm now worrying about that until I get the reuslts. sigh

when do you go back deb?

josey · 03/01/2008 15:58

Josie so pleased for you.

Glad the other scans have gone well.

libra what a nightmare you have been though, hope your not so sore and you ds is ok now.

We have snow was with us when we woke this morning, not a big covering but enough to make it seem really cold, we are all in pj bottoms after walking the dog lol!

I have made an appointment to have a special pregnancy massage as im having problems with my lower back, so I have that to look forward to on Wednesday. Got a little dunt this avo while drinking hot chocolate.

letitsnow thats awful, hope things are ok for you, look forward to you coming back to suprise us

gr1973 · 03/01/2008 18:14

hi all,

Just been for mw appointment (15 1/2 weeks). Had blood test for spina bifada and downs so hoping they come back ok. Keep telling myself that I'm nearly 35 so a slightly higher risk is to be expected and its all about stats etc anyway... My mw wont see me for another 7 weeks - is that normal? Seems ages away.

Not getting a 20 week scan on NHS because I live in bloody edinburgh so off to investigate options for private scan. Grrrrrr.

letitsnow - hope all ok; think I may have read/contributed to you know what so hope its not too stressful!

Glad to hear all the other scans/appt's this week have gone well.

Upsidedowncake - do you have any snow yet? It's not stopped for hours here!

makecakesnotwar · 03/01/2008 18:25

Hello all- back home and not at all happy. HAve very much enjoyed being squirreled away with DH for the last two weeks (save xmas with MIL which was a beeping nightmare)...now just ticking the days off until my scan (at 23+6) annoyingly, when I will know if I'm carrying a George or a Cecily (convinced it's the second). HAve been feeling quite a few flutterings for the last three weeks, esp. when dog curls up in my lap and her heartbeat seems to set off mini-cakes. Quite funny!

And hello and a Happy New Year to one and all.
