The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:

katyjo · 05/01/2008 13:01

Oh, that sounds lovely paro.

Josey, yes it was worth it you do get to see the baby really clearly and it gave me piece of mind, can see it has 10 fingers/toes etc. I was quite concerned about his nose as it looked a bit odd, the sonogragher said it was just to do with the picture but didn't stop me worrying ! We paid £195, which was a lot, if you just want a short scan and a dvd (no pictures) I think they do it for £120 now. Dh doesn't think its worth doing again, but I'd like to see our little one.

libralady · 05/01/2008 13:24

ernest · 05/01/2008 16:54

hi. just spent a very long and boring day taking down and packing away all the Christmas decorations, while trying to keep ds3 happy. Can't believe it took so bloody long. And all this while dh and ds1 & 2 skiing so if they come back expecting to be fed and moaning about being tired I'll lamp them.

We booked somewhere yesterday. Got loads of good reviews on here actually, but then stupidly, after booking did an internet search for reviews and it varied between fantastic and totally shit . absolutely no middle ground. So lets hope we are in the 'like it' category. It's near Cannes and it's booked.

Dh reckons now can't afford to take holiday during spring holidays due to house move and birth so am considering driving one last time to UK. Once we move to Milan and I have the baby it'll be a lot harder for me to get back to visit so am tempted, but will be 32 weeks pg so part of me sayig it's a stupid idea.

My mum's agreed to come out for the week to look after ds 1, 2 & 3 while I'm in hospital so am pleased that's semi organised. A useful side-effect of having a c-section. When I had ds2 everyone was over for Christmas, they went home and the next day I went into labour and had to get the in-laws to fly striaght back out.

Then for ds3, sil came over, stayed 10 days, then she had to go home, and agin, went into labour the next day, so the relative certainty of a c-section will be useful, what with dh being in Milan and all the family being in UK and me being all alone out here.

enjoy your tax return sugar

libralady · 05/01/2008 17:13

S&S&ATN God I'm glad I don't have to do a tax return. Luckily mine's all taken care of for me by my employers.
Bit of a result regarding me having a moan yesterday re the ambulance service. I sent an e-mail to my local lim dem councillor and he was having a meeting with our local MP today and is going to raise the issue with her. He himself was shocked to say the least. Can't believe he e-mailed me at 11.30pm last night!
Can't help thinking I've opened a can of worms

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 05/01/2008 17:32

Having a quick break, I can't see very clearly from staring at figures - really should wear my glasses but can't find them!!! I WISH it was only my tax return I was having to do. It's actually putting all figures on the spreadsheet for the whole of last tax year but the worst bit is supermarket shopping receipts - I have to go through every single item....fruit, veg, meat, drinks, toilet roll, cleaning products etc..... and work out how much of it relates to childminding (as obviously the family have some too). I really should do this as I go along but no, I'm doing every receipt now for a whole bloomin year!!! I am NOT doing this next year, I'm going to get totally up to date and do this as I go along like I do family accounts. When I FINALLY get to filling in the actual tax return, that bit will be a peace of p*ss!!!

Anyway, moan over!

ernest - I feel for you with the decs, luckily I did ours on Tuesday then did a thorough clean all ready for the mindees coming back the day after. At least it's done though. Great about booking a holiday, sure it will be lovely just to get away And yes, can see how having a c-section makes things easier. I was trying to see if my mum could come and help with the homebirth (if I get to have one) and was working out how to do this as she is 3/4 hours away. Don't need to worry now I've fallen out with my parents

Libralady - wow, that was quick, great stuff! So pleased they are taking you seriously but tbh, I don't know how they'd be able to ignore something like this. They could have had a child's death on their hands!!! Well done you

Right, off to put the kettle on before getting back to it. Think I'll be dreaming figures tonight!!!

libralady · 05/01/2008 17:56

SSAATN you really are having a rough time of it aren't you? Can't believe you've fallen out with your parents now!
Mind you my Mum is doing my head in at the mo and think it is only a matter of time!
Unfortunately I rely on her to look after DS when I am at work and I go back on Monday so I am biting my tongue at the mo!!!!!!!

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 05/01/2008 18:01

LL - youo obviously don't know HOW we fell out then??? It's a and to do with MN!!!

sophiewd · 05/01/2008 18:59

Sugar, I have to do that aswell, just about manage to do it every month and alwasy swear that I will do it every night for the 2 or 3 receipts that I get.

Libralady - we are just outside Lulworth, glad that things are happening, I was just wandering who my mother might know who would shove things along a bit but sounds like you are getting somewhere.

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 05/01/2008 23:54

Sophie - what do you do? You a childminder too?

Can I just ask you all.......(whilst on another break from my bloomin accounts, been at it 11 hrs now!!!).......do you all have itchy tummies/bumps??? Mine has been driving me mad for days now, very itchy, and I can't remember for the life of me if this happened with ds?

Thanks

vinorouge · 06/01/2008 06:44

I am so peeved cos was in the middle of posting when my laptop overheated and I lost the lot. AAAGGHHHHHHH

SASAATN - I am so glad someone elses bump is itching. Mine drives me mad!! Also when I try to get to sleep my ear itches which is starting to bother me.

Parampou - how exciting to be propsed to! Are you used to the sparkle on your hand yet? I remember the first time I got the bus to work wearing my engagement ring I was really worried someone would spot it and mug me when I got off the bus!!! Not that its anything fancy just never had a real jewel before iykwim

Deese,Jules, Kitty,Gr1973, Finallypregnant, Becky77 - hello and congrats on the babes to be! I have only posted a couple of times on this thread but one of resolutions was to keep up with it cos its so nice to chat to people in the same baot. On that note, wondered if any of you live near me - I am Leeds.

Taken down our xmas decs finally and been packing ready to move house although we have no date set yet. Its meant to be end of the month but we are away next weekend and I was anxious not to leave it all til the last minute. I have already realised something thats been packed which I need to unpack. oops!

I have mw appt this week at 16ish weeks to have bloods taken finally. First time I went I was too early, then she said to wait so I could be tested for sp bifida, now I just want them taking so its done! Hoping my lo has a galloping hearbeat this time cos last time she couldn;t fnd it and sent me to hospital. I spent the bus ride there preparing self for worst and had tears rolling down my face. Must have looked an idiot! When I weigh it up with reassurance of an unexpected scan its hard to decide which is best! My 20 week scan is 4 Feb so looking forward to that

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 06/01/2008 07:52

Morning Vino. Must be stretching skin then? Annoying isn't it! I'll have to check the list to see when you're due. I have 16 week check on Tuesday and 20 week scan on 5th Feb

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 06/01/2008 07:53

Oh, I can't see you on the list, when are you due? I'm 23rd June. Not from Leeds, I'm in South East.

sophiewd · 06/01/2008 12:04

Sugar - same line of work as Deb, we run a B&B.

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 06/01/2008 12:27

Oh right, so you have the same boring job of splitting what you have for guests and what you have for your own family then!! Well, after more than 11 hours of that yesterday afternoon/evening/early hours this morning, I've decided that there is no way I'm doing it that way again!! I'm now working out a year's worth of mileage before I go onto the next job......all whilst ignoring dh having a stressful time in the kitchen trying to pull out a dishwasher with a plug trapped behind loads of cupboards lol.

Have a good day everyone

PiggyPenguin · 06/01/2008 13:08

Sugar, I really don't envy you that task. Dh's uncle downloads all his shopping receipts into a spreadsheet every week - not because he has to, but because he likes to - madman. It does sound like it would be a good idea for someone like you though!

My tummy isn't really itchy but the skin has started to fake off of it, does anyone else have this? Any good ideas as to what will be the best thing to use on it?

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 06/01/2008 13:47

sybilvimes - I wish it was that simple. I have to go through each and every item and decide what portion related to childminding i.e. I put melon as quarter used for childminding, strawberries as 3/quarters etc. I have to do this with every single bit of food I get, toilet roll, cleaning products etc etc etc......I presume like the b&b people have to. Because it's my home and me and my family each the same things, this is how it has to be done. It would be much easier is I had a seperate fridge and freezer and cupboards for just childminding stuff but a) there's not enough room as it's a normal family home and b) fresh stuff would get wasted that way!!

I've got a spreadsheet now for mileage which is taking time to put dates and trips in for the whole year but it will be easier for future use if I do as I go along!

debinaustria · 06/01/2008 16:10

Sugar - I sympathise with you, we have an accountant here as we're not really sure of the Austrian system but I have to get all those pesky receipts ready and highlighted with stuff used for business, and also do the mileage claim. We got tax back when we bought our car here and now they say that we don't do enough business mileage, even though it's still over 50% so before Christmas we had a bill for over 4000 euros!!!!!!!!

I am also itchy but nowhere near as bad as I was. I got some lovely Sanctuary mum to be oil and cream for Christmas and that helps.

SugarSpiceandAllThingsNice · 06/01/2008 16:43

Hiya Deb - I'm definitely not doing it this way from now on. I can't even highlight as each item of food etc has different proportion for mindees depending on who I have at the time and who eats what. As for my car, I bought my 7 seater purely for childminding but been told claiming mileage (40p per mile) works out best - I'm just going through all trips made for 06/07 relating to childminding and working out the mileage. I'll be soooo glad when this is over!!

Sanctury stuff is nice isn't it although I put some oil in the bath when pg with ds and ended up slipping because I wasn't used to oil in the bath

poppy34 · 06/01/2008 17:48

sugar - you've reminded me that I need to do mine (so will have to summon energy from somewhere).

Have been using the L'oreal body care cream - its really nice as very moisturising but non greasy so I can use it in teh morning after shower.Clarins also does some lovely stuff (stretch cream, breast cream - for some reason my enhanced cleavage has also been itchy at times and some oil you can use on your skin /in the bath -its actually not that greasy (I hate any kind of oil usually as makes me feel greasy).

vinorouge · 06/01/2008 19:21

Sugar - I am due on 26 June, haven't added myself to the list yet.

I've been using a boots own cream that I used last time and loved, will post the name when I remember it. I got it first of all when I got a voucher from the boots parenting club to get it free. If anyone hasn't joined you get quite a lot of free stuff/vouchers.

Saw my mum this afternoon for first time since xmas day and she thought I had grown a lot. I'm having that 'oh I don;t think my trousers are quite long enough feeling' at the moment. I am tall and last time had next extra long maternity troiusers which always got wet if it rained so I just bought long this time and I always feel they need to be a teeny bit longer .

All this tax return business sounds annoying. I have toyed with the idea of childminding but its not selling the idea to me!

goingfor3 · 06/01/2008 19:26

SSAATN - I hope you are nearly finshed, sounds so boring!

I have been getting quite itchy too and found the mother to be kit I got for christmas from Neals Yard has some lovely stuff in it. I use the massage oil on my belly and the cream on my boobs, dd2 likes to rub the oli in my belly for me. I think the nesting instinct kicked in today and I tidied up my airing cupboard - when we moved in I just shoved everything in without much though thinking I would sort it out at a later date and it's been so long I forgot there was a radiator in there. I also put together all of the little baby bit's I have bought, it was so lovely to look at it all!

poppy34 · 06/01/2008 19:29

goingfor3 -is neals yard greasy? Had another friend raving about their stuff so might give it a go - and does it smell nice (part of reason I'm going off cream is that its start to "smell funny" to me - I'm sure it doesn't but sense of smell has been all over the place ever since bfp)

Upsidedowncake · 06/01/2008 19:32

Sugar, nightmare with your receipts! Can you see the light of day yet?

Vinorouge, nice to see you back.

Re itching, I developed ezcema (sp?) just before Christmas from my tummy to my toes. My skin was weeping and so itchy, I was in hell. Apparently itching is very common in pregnancy, and only worrying if you itch on the palms of your hands.

But the great news is that the pharmacist suggested I use calamine lotion. Do others remember it from childhood? It's 1.38 in Boots and the most effective anti-itch cream I have ever used. I am now ezcema-free and considering buying shares in the calamine lotion company. It's magic.

Back to work tomorrow. Quite looking forward to it.
