min912 · 29/11/2007 19:13

I have become mildly addicted to this thread of late and have been thinking how lovely it is to be able to witter on with others in the same boat, especially while I'm at the stage of not telling friends or family yet, so I am now feeling all sad for sfxmum and all yey for Sweetkitty. Supportive thoughts to you both.

After reading about hyperemesis I am also feeling a bit guilty for 'wishing' for nausea a few days back... the pregnancy gods are obviously laughing hard at me though as this morning I threw up on an empty stomach. Not a great way to start the day...

Verso · 29/11/2007 20:29

Am I the only person on here who hasn't actually thrown up yet? Bit nauseous (and this morning on the train wasn't much fun next to someone who had loads of garlic last night!) but not sick. Mind you, given the PP who said they had been in hosp on a drip I should be grateful!

I have a scan on Tuesday to check things are still fine. Just starting to get nervous about it...

Can't believe some people don't get a 20-week scan on the NHS. It's astonishing how much of a postcode lottery it really is!

pigleychez · 29/11/2007 20:36

Im with you on the morning sickness Verso.
I had times of nausea but not actually been sick (yet)!

thanking my lucky stars! and hoping it lasts!

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 29/11/2007 20:47

Verso,
I've had no sickness or nausea whatsoever. Just tiredness but I've put that down to the stress and hectic couple of weeks I've had with DS.
Last time it was the waves of nausea that made us suspicious of pregnancy. After being told I was infertile (unexplained) it was a complete shock to discover I was pg with DS. The nausea lasted several weeks (i discovered I was pg @ 5 weeks last time) this time I discovered at 3+4 because of tender (.)(.)s and a metallic taste, but even they've disappeared.
It's true what they say, you moan when you feel unwell, and you moan when you don't. Even took another test yesterday to check the second line was still there and it appeared before the urine had even reached the control line. I know I am worrying unecessarily but it is difficult. DH has been away this week and I've had no-one to talk to. He's back for the weekend and then away again next week. I've just got to stay positive and focus on my can in three weeks time. Hopefully once I see the heartbeat I can relax. To top it off, I've lost 1/2 stone since I've discovered I was pg even though I've been eating normally and nothing has turned my taste buds yet. By this time with DS I was already in maternity trousers, and now my normal clothes are getting looser. I'm not complaining, I could do with losing a few more pounds. I lost weight with DS and only put 4lbs on during my whole pregnancy last time and managed to get into my pre-pregnancy clothes the day after giving birth. Since then I've lost a further 2 1/2 stone without really trying. Maybe I should have 5 or 6 kids to get down to a size 8/10. (I'm now a size 14 and prior to last pregnancy was more a 18/20). MW put my BMI @ 29 which is within acceptable range based on my height.
Sorry I'm going on, but there's nothing on telly and I've no-one else to talk to.
How is everyone else on this cold night?

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 29/11/2007 20:48

It should rean scan

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 29/11/2007 20:51

READ!!!!!!!!!!!

coolkat · 29/11/2007 20:51

So sorry to hear that SFX.

I have not yet been sick either, felt a little delicate at times but that's it. Feeling tired but think that's mainly the dark nights drawing in, My middle has definately thickened and I am a little paranoid. A few people know but trying to keep it a secret DH is a nightmare though!

DH got a puppy today and although I did not object to it I am trying to think why I did not object - what a nightmare

Hope everyone else is ok?
Coolkat X

coolkat · 29/11/2007 20:57

Sorry LL crossed post's.

My DH is on nights tonight so I alone (well DD in bed and puppy in utility room!!!)

Must be something catching from MN my daughter up three times last night. Hope she is not tonight need my sleep for shopping tomorrow!!

MrsWednesday · 29/11/2007 20:59

Oh sfxmum, I'm so so sorry.

I really hope you can get some testing from the NHS after all you've been through. Much love to you.x

sweetkitty · 29/11/2007 21:06

sfxmum - oh so so sorry to hear your news, was really routing for you, it's horrid leaving an antenatal thread, rest up take care of yourself and hopefully you will be on another antenatal thread soon (theres a great mc support thread called Dec 07 - MC avengers etc, we are a mad bunch but theres great support there, come and have a look when you are up to it)

paula - yes one scan at 12 weeks to make sure it's viable and how many are in there and a quick look to see everything is normal and thats it. No detailed heart scan, spine scan, brain scan etc, there is loads that can be picked up with a scan like DS, Spina bifida etc as well as God forbid any life threatening conditions. How can they justify it? What about babies who they know are going to need special care and ops straight after birth??? Am so angry. I would beg, steal and borrow to get the money for a private scan now.

coolkat - what kind of puppy did you get?

Told my Mum today as she actually phoned to see how I was (or boast about the wonderful night out she had with Step sister, her DH, my brother and his "stunning" fiancee) as you can tell we don't get on and she only phones me to boast about something. Told her about DDs chicken pox, my tonsilitis and that I had been for a scan that morning. She was her usual underwhelmed self (she told me when I lost the baby last time maybe it was for the best as 3 DC would be expensive)" She hasn't seen the DDs since beginning of August despite living an hour away.

Anyway sorry off on one there also told MIL and SIl who were delighted. They think I'm crazy though probably as we will have more than the recommended 2 children now (hopefully)

shortshafe · 29/11/2007 21:51

Can I introduce myself and add myself to the list please? I've been lurking for a while and now feel I can take the plunge!
I've got a dd who is 13 months and am 7 weeks pg. Think I'm due around 19th July.

am really that not everyone gets 20 week scans. www.nuchalscan.co.uk do private wellbeing scans for £85 including 10mins 4d. cheapest I've seen. They're in Leamington Spa. hth.

icklegem · 29/11/2007 22:39

SFXMUM - Am so so sorry you're having to go through this again. Just popped on to see how you were all doing. Huge hugs to you xx

SWEETKITTY - Really glad all is ok for you. Must have been so lovely to see xx

mcchesers · 30/11/2007 00:56

SFXMUM- so sorry to hear your news...thinking of you..big hugs.

SK- I'm glad to hear that your IL's are supportive. So are your MN mates

Hi all..sorry have been asleep most of the day. so tired. Also verso and pigly not been sick yet. I've been really stuffed up and gagging from the congestion and had mostly manageable nausea. Really sensitive to smells though. Got some wonky shaped veiny (.)(.)s..and horrible constipated...oh and starting today really sleepy. going to have to start a long commute starting Monday. Who's excited?

Did I lose my DD on the stats? I'm not really sure what it is to be exact. According to my calculations it should be the 9th of July, but I think I ovulated late and I have longer cycles because the bean measured 6/5 last Friday. I'm going to wait until the 18th for my booking in appointment and see what they say and not be worried about it. Someone on here said it's not an exact science and the little guys have spurts of growth and the DD changes all the time. Does that sound convincing? nite nite..

frogmarsh · 30/11/2007 01:06

So sorry to hear your news sfxmum

Haven't been on for ages and just catching up on the old thread. Went to see the doctor at 5 weeks and now have midwifes appointment on 13 dec, am excited and curious. (feel like a bit of a dim wit as lots of you have dcs already and seem to know what you are doing!)

Am feeling very lucky as have had no nausea at all, feel very bloated after large meals though and sort of constipated/trapped wind feeling but not - iyswim!

Coolkat - what sort of puppy did you get? I love dogs, we have a whippet he's not a puppy but acts like it sometimes Am beginning to wonder how hard it will be to have a baby and the dog!

sweetkitty · 30/11/2007 05:15

Well think I have pregnancy insomnia woke up at 4 haven't ben able to get back to sleep so downstairs with a cup of tea, mumsnet and the cats for company. DP back at work today was totally spoiled yesterday he did all the housework and made lunch and breakfast for the DDs. Have decided my tonsils are on the way down but that I have a huge ulcer the size of a 5p on the back of my throat, you know the soft bits that hang either side of the (SK thinks back epiglottis hangy down bit) it's bloody killing me can hardly swallow it's so swollen, don't know what to do now was planning on phoning GP this morning but don't want to traipse all the way up there to be told oh it's just an ulcer, away and get some bonjela

shortshafe - welcome and congratulations don't worry I'm not always around talking to myself at 5 in the morning, nice age gap you will have as well

icklegem - thanks I know it's hard going through what you are going through but thanks for thinking of me x

mcchesers - wheres your long commute to? I haven't allowed myself to get excited yet more worried about how I will cope with 3, you are allowed to be VERY excited with your first though, seems like an age away but it's just around the corner.

frogmarsh - don't be that it's your first baby we were all there once, I certainly remember asking laods of daft questions on my first antenatal thread on mn (4 years ago ) thats whats great about it someone always knows and answer

well the chicken pox twins haven't been up once last night/this morning heres hoping they are on the mend, most of the spots have scabbed over now

EEC · 30/11/2007 07:52

Morning all.

shortshafe - Congrats same age gap as my first 2. They are so close now - it's great.

icklegem and sfxmum - thinking of you both

sweetkitty - I too am having terrible insomnia - I went to the loo 6 times last night. Where does it all come from! So many thoughts racing around my head.

Can't wait for first scan so I can relax a bit. After mc in summer it's so hard to believe all OK. Got to wait til 2 Jan!

On with the day...

min912 · 30/11/2007 09:44

Morning all,

Just thought I'd be super-organised and book myself in for my nuchal scan, all dates working out quite well despite the xmas break, fine, fine... when I ask the important question 'and how much is it?'
£180!!!
Wowsers. A slightly reduced xmas for us this year I think!!
That does include the blood triple test, and it is with the area's leading obstetrician guy, and I do live in the south of england, but still. Ouch!

SK - sorry your mum isn't more supportive. I don't have a great relationship with my mum and I've read a couple of articles on how to get your mum more involved 'ask her to come to the scan with you' etc. - yeah, right! Sometimes I guess we have to try and accept that things are what they are and be extra thankful for the great friends and family that we do have.
