beller · 02/12/2007 11:18

hello everyone!!

Friday was a bit dissapointing really...just like every other day, only i got to watch everyone get drunk and pay for it! hahaha Dosnt make me want to rush back

Thinking of you Awen!!!! If you go back in today good luck, and hope you are cuddling Samuel Owen soon xx

I think I must have had a huge growth spurt in the last week....most of my trousers are ok when i put them on, but if i eat or drink anything i have to undo the buttons..think i might have to buy another pair for the last couple of weeks which is annoying!

Babybel is moving and kicking like a aloon, really hope head is engaged, have some really weird feelings low down, so i think so? Went to see american gangster at flicks last night and was great! 2.5 hours though, numb bum!

Hope everyone is well xxx
(no work tom!!!! woo-hoo!)

sabinar · 02/12/2007 11:21

good morning everyone! hope you're all doing well.

had the laziest day yesterday. Made it to my yoga class in the morning, stopped to look for curtains on the way home (we need some desperately, have none at the moment!) and managed to find some that are ok but were half price. (yay!) Haven't managed to get them up yet so hopefully they'll look ok. Not sure if I needed to get some pins for them though... hoping I"ll find some in the pack! (wishful thinking?). Was completely exhausted by the time I lugged all the curtains up from the train to home and did pretty much nothing for the rest of the day!

This morning was an early start as I had a lady from Bebeco come around to do a show and tell of reusable nappies - I'd managed to completely confuse myself trying to work it out online. Think I've narrowed the choice down considerably now... will just do some researching re: price and take the plunge I think!

Have to do some work today, but think there will also be some resting involved

Awen - hope you're successfully holding LO in for an extra day or two and not in too much discomfort!

susiemj · 02/12/2007 11:43

Morning all!

Hope you slept well. I seem to be in a permanent state of knackeration even though sleeping ok. By which i mean I get back to sleep after going to the loo all five times.

Congratulations on the curtains Sabinar. I'm trying to do the same thing. Where are they on sale?

AWen - looks like they kept you in overnight? Hope all is well with you both and that Samuel Owen hangs on in there a few more days. Tell him it's raining out here!

LuckySalem · 02/12/2007 13:11

Hi all,

I'm watching home birth diaries on Living2 ALL DAY!!
Me and DP have had a conversation and we are really leaning towards a homebirth now, there are too many things that we want to do that the hospital won't let us do so we're going to make sure that the MW will allow us to. Apt on Weds and if thats all ok then we'll be ordering the tens machine and a birth pool (just hope its not too late) and I definately won't be telling my mother! lol

Awen - I'm assuming they kept you in last night, hope all is ok and Samuel is doing as he's told.

sabinar · 02/12/2007 14:37

Lucky - oooh, just changing channels now - thanks for the tip off!
(although, strangely, I found it on Discovery Home & Health, not Living2.

Bettymamma · 02/12/2007 14:38

Hi ladies

Just told my dh - i need to log on to see if Awen had had her baby. He thought I was mad. 'Who's Awen?' - 'She's been my friend for over 9 months now!'

Anyway - Awen, I hope you are ok. I have been having LOADS of practise contractions all weekend because of you I'm sure. I think the baby got its head engaged yesterday because I couldn't walk for wetting myself. Sorry TMI.

Anyway - just got dh to get car seat, steriliser, bottles (yes I plan to breastfeed but I am realistic too - it wasn't as easy as they make out) and 3 bags of newborn clothes which are currently in the wash.

Luckysalem - am going to push dh out of the way of the football and put on Livingtv2!

susiemj/sabinar - I managed to get some cheap Humphrey Corner curtains from ebay and my mum has just returned them complete with black out lining sewn in - she's a star.

Beller - no card or pressie for you from work? Thats rubbish - especially when you consider how much they are probably all on as city workers!! Enjoy your new found freedom next week - do you have any plans?

gingeme - I wasn't at the meet up. I guess it was just cancelled. Will we do one with the babies in the future??

Angechica - I will go and find the FB group and join

Everyone with leaky boobs - I haven't had it this time but did with dd. When she was born my boobs ended up bigger than the size of her head. I'm sure thats why I had breastfeeding troubles!

Had a manic day yesterday with friends to stay and my mum's birthday party. I think my mum secretly wanted me to have the baby on her birthday - no far too early thanks!

Off to drink raspberry leaf tea, hang up the baby clothes and put on livingtv. Speak later.xxxx

LuckySalem · 02/12/2007 16:21

Oops my bad, it is on home and health! i'm blaming the pg brain.

I've got a feeling that the baby is sitting lower now as like you BM i have to p every 5 mins and as soon as I feel the need or having to change the pants. Also i've got real pains in my pelvis and heaviness.

Just been to bed for a couple of hours with DP. Found i've won a TENS machine on ebay for just 99p (plus package) so chuffed!! Just waiting to see if i've won a cat scratching/climbing post now (it'll be their xmas present) Also bought DP a MP3 player (his got stolen when our house was robbed a few months ago for 99p!! Xmas should be cheaper this year now.

Awen - Come update us, i'm sitting on the edge of my seat.

LilyLoo · 02/12/2007 18:23

Any news Awen ?

katyt1 · 02/12/2007 19:59

hi

angechica - i was on MN at 3.30 cos i just couldn't sleep, not a lot going on then!, but did read some interesting spd stories. nothing particular going round my head just everything.

gingeme - did you get the new stuff for your room? can't say i have the oomph for much at the mo, esp not redecorating!
re your bump size and the honda lady , i decided to measure (i kept a record during ds' pg but haven't this time round).
at 32 weeks my bump measured 44cms around. i know this isn't scientific or anything but just curious to compare, get out a tape measure and let me know, would the honda lady have said the same to me???!!

i know some people measure with squares of loo roll, not done that yet, and there's always a discussion of diff brands being diff sizes?

beller - bit disappointing at work. enjoy tomorrow morning and not getting up to go back!
i def have had a growth spurt, put on a jumper today and dh just said no, you can't wear that!

sab - your idea of lazy and mine are a tad diff!! mine is do NOTHING! not yoga and shopping on the same day
re nappies, we have fuzzi bunz and they are pretty good, lots of fun colours too, we are out of the habit of using them with ds [must try to restart tomorrow!] but did use them a lot for a while and hope to use them again for LO.

susie - at least you are getting back to sleep !

luckys - hope your m/w is amenable to home birth, let us know. glad your dp is on side.

& betty & lucky, hee hee hee hee hee
glad someone else is having weakness in the bladder control dept

thinking of you awen, hope all ok

only just ds to bed as we were out for lunch and he had his nap late so all behind schedule now. dh cooking sausage & mash, yum!

gingeme · 02/12/2007 21:00

Hi all.
Yes katy1 we got some lovely wallpaper and paint and bits and a 3 step step ladder all from B&Q and it was all 20% off. Were going to make a start tommorrow. I said to dh I will help as much as I can but wont promise.
The bit I cant wait to get are the new carpet and curtains. Just hope my waters dont break all over it.
I think babys lower now too as I keep feeling sharp pains 'down below' when he moves his head about. Lost count how many times Ive had a wee today.
Realy hope Awens ok.
Going to have a shower now. Finding it so hard to get out the bath these days
Take care all xx

LuckySalem · 02/12/2007 23:00

Ok so it's 11pm and i've just spent the last hour cleaning the kitchen!! WTF? Is this what nesting is all about?

beller · 03/12/2007 10:16

Mornign all!

and a big hi from my sofa!!

Luckysalem, i think you are going the right road, if the hospital cant give you want you want...go for it!!

Bettymamma - Oh well..yes the salarys are high, but it wasnt a pressie i missed, just a card and maybe a bunch of flowers?!?! Oh well...thats blokes for you! Was going to meet Neuro today, but she cant make it, so im going to go to Bluewater to get another pair of trousers that fit without me undoing them!! Tomorrow is swimming and hair cut/coloured....midwife weds! And she will be leaving her bag of tricks! xx

Gingme - I have those sharp pains as well down below..have had them for a while..will be shocked if head not engaged wed!

Katy1 - My tops are ok..just bottoms...belly seems to have a new lease of life!

Didnt sleep well last 4 nights..well wake up about 4-5 o clock..but have taken to reading my hypnobirting book, then going back to sleep...Really is good at putting your mind at rest for the birth!
25 days until expected d-day!! Although my friends yesturday said they dont think ill go that long...but we will see...Babybel is still quite active, although it must be very squashed in there now!!

Hope everyone is ok...thinking of you Awen xxx

madmouse · 03/12/2007 10:52

Morning all. Loving my first day of maternity leave, although I am now behind the computer to do some work for ops director, but that is so I don't get bored. And...I did not have to get up at 6.30 and ride my bike 4 miles at 7 before spending 1.5 hours on the train. Instead I got up with dh at 8am and was out of the door just after nine for a walk to the shops in the sunshine. Bliss.

Beller can't believe they did not make a fuss of you at all. Being male is no excuse!

I still have eight weeks to go but I wake up in the night thinking I really must sort out the kitchen drawers/wash the baby clothes/ clean the moses basket. eeek, surely a bit early for nesting?

Take care everyone, especially those still working.

madmouse · 03/12/2007 10:55

By the way, for those in need of maternity wear for the last weeks, if you do not have to look at all smart, you can't beat Next maternity yoga/jogging trousers. About £16, 0.5/10 for style, 11.5/10 for comfort

fluffymummy · 03/12/2007 11:03

Morning all

Hope everyone had good weekends? We took ds up to Manchester on Friday night to visit my grandparents (cue 1.5 hours of whinging toddler in back of car before he fell asleep....although we did drown out the worst of it with Joss Stone !) and I have to say, he was 'perfect child' for the entire 20 hours we were there !!

OK, he's usually quite good, but this was impressive..I was so so so proud of him!! And he happily went to sleep in a proper big bed for the first time...although he did fall out and graze the front of his face at 1am...and bad mother that I am I didn't realise he'd actually hurt himself until the morning !

So tired today, wish I didn't have 6 weeks of work left...so of everyone on mat leave!

Any news of Awen? My DH was also amused that I insisted on checking mumsnet when we got home on Saturday night to see how she was doing

Hugs to all, off to actually do some work for a change

xx

Bettymamma · 03/12/2007 11:03

Morning all

Congrats Luckysalem on the tens machine. Bargain!! My overpriced version arrived today from mothercare but has gone back to the post office. I was in the bath - can the postman not wait 3 minutes for me to get out and waddle downstairs?? Obviously not.

I was also washing the kitchen floor last night - what is wrong with us?

Beller/Madmouse - Big hellos to you from the sofa too. Bet you aren't being forced to watch Cbeebies though!

gingeme - we've just finished decorating our bedroom as well. I sleep alot better in it now- its lovely. Have avoided getting the new carpet yet as well for fear of waters breaking on it. NOt that my waters broke last time. Is it true if the baby comes out in its waters it won't ever drown? Well not true - but i think it might be an old wives tale??

katy1 - sausage and mash yum. Your dh cooks! Not fair.

Awen - thinking of you.xxx

merrykatyt1 · 03/12/2007 12:22

getting the sharp pains down below too - don't remember them with ds, perhaps this baby is lying more on my pelvis anyway leading to the spd?

betty - yes my dh does nearly all the cooking
i'm v lucky as i'm useless in the kitchen. have tried to get better since having ds and needing to cook for him, i'm happy with microwave/freezer food or pasta

gingeme - how goes the diy???

well done fluffy's ds

hi to everyone enjoying first day of mat leave

dh off again until thurs, trying to stay busy & upbeat about it, but...

right, ds needs to go to sleep, i need lunch and a nap myself so see you all later!

MrsBiscuit · 03/12/2007 12:41

Hello,

Lots to catch up on!

Very at those of you who have started mat leave - I've got another couple of weeks to go, and can't wait. I might even get round to some Christmas shopping then .

I've been given a tens machine by someone at work, in exchange for a homemade chocolate cake - good deal I think .

Katyt1 - lucky you with a cooking dh. Mine has a repertoire that extends to cheese on toast, and pasta surprise. .

Gingeme - hope your wallpapering is going well. Not a job I'd relish!

Awen - hope you've managed to get a bit of sleep, and that it's not too painful.

Angechica - I couldn't find the MN group on Facebook. Do I just type it into Search? I'll try again when I get a chance (can't access from work).

Hope everyone else is okay,
x

mixedmama · 03/12/2007 12:46

Hey hunnies,

First day of mat leave... wooo hoooo. Am at my mum and dads and DS is asleep so have managed to just do a quick catch up.

Not much to report, have been moving back to our old flat over the weekend so very very achy, actually thought I was going to induce labour last night as I worked so bloody hard... well cleaning and stuff rather than moving.... enjoyed watching my big strong hubby carry beds and things by himself.... where was his "helpful" brother I wonder, conveniently out. Still not in tho, which is sort of good as i have an ante natal class tomorrow morning so need to take DS1 to my mum and dads and Wed have MW appointment down these ways.

Xmas lights being turned on round here on Thurs so hoping to take DS. Hopefully, will be settled in other flat by the weekend.

Helllooo to everyone and Awen, (due date buddy too) hope everything is going well. I told DH we are due the same day and he started talking about washing the moses basket and stuf.. very funny.

OP posts:
gingeme · 03/12/2007 12:54

Afternoon ladies.
I thought I was going to join Awen about 3 am this morning. It felt as if the baby was trying to get down my left leg with his head. The pain was excrutiating. I woke dh up and was sure that was it. I walked around the flat for about half an hour while dh tried to rub my leg but wasnt very successful. Went to wee about 4 times. Went back to bed after taking a couple of paracetamol. Eventualy fell back to sleep after an hour of tossing and turning. I woke up at 7.30 and have had chroninc back/sciatic pain down my left buttock
Wow never ever had back ache in my life.
So needless to say I am not attempting any DIY today but dh is doing a bril job on the painting
Beller dont get your hopes up about babybels head being engaged they dont sometimes angage until your in established labour. Especialy with your first baby.
Yes I think that is an old wives tale bettymamma. My waters have never broken before babys head is born either except for the little bit (fore waters) with ds4.
Well Im off for some lunch now and to check how the painting is going.Take care xx

gingeme · 03/12/2007 13:05

Oh just remembered Ive got another scan tommorrow
Dont suppose one of you clever ladies would do a whos due list or are you waiting to hear from Awen to do a 'whos popped first' list?

tripletsandtwins · 03/12/2007 13:47

Wow! I need to do a mega catch-up soon! Scanned the scan very quickly...

Awen, how are you doing?

Gingerme, so sorry about the pain, I can really sympathize.

Are you all enjoying your maternity leave?

MrsBiscuit, on facebook, just type in mumsnet and it's a blue, austin powers like logo. You can all add me! I'm on the what's your mumsnet name thread! Initial H.S.

I'm mostly fine, had a scan last Wednesday and all was well, but I'm still on bedrest! Feeling all achy and miserable.

I'll catch up and post properly very soon, just wanted to let you all know I'm alive and still cooking these babes xx

hello girls, glad to hear a few more of you have joined me on maternity leave! am full of admiration for any of you who can still move to be honest, I feel about 90! Have woken up with the most excruciating back pain, have had a bath and paracetamol but nothing is making a difference. No contractions though (other than BH) so not getting my hopes up yet!
I have been trying to keep up with all your news but don't always get a chance to post. Am finding it exhausting looking after DD now I am so big and keep falling asleep half way though e-mails, dinner, mumsnet catch ups and conversations!
Got another scan tomorrow to check whether I still have too much fluid and how big the boy is! Consultant and diabetic team on Friday to see about a date for sweep and talk about induction. Might well be having the baby in a fortnight
Love to you all and will keep checking back to see if Awen has any exciting news x

Naetha · 03/12/2007 14:47

Afternoon all, first day of mat leave - yay!

Had my growth scan this afternoon as well, and it confirmed that my LO is indeed big - estimated foetal weight by both the scan and the fundal height is 7lbs, and his head is particularly big . Nothing to worry about, just sounds like a painful labour . The scan didn't show anything amazing (i.e. he didn't perform the can can or anything!) other than the fact he's a hairy baby!

Been doing lots of decorating over the weekend as well - nursery is now undercoated - need one more coat on the ceiling, and then the blue can go on

Awen - been following you on this thread and your childbirth thread - I hope everything is going OK for you, sounds like a right palava, with lots of contractions but no baby to show for it yet! Glad that DP is back with you, and hope things happen at the rate you want them too

Hope everyone is coping OK and sleeping as well as they can!
