Good afternoon ladies. Oh boy what a morning. First the latest on my sil saga. She sent me another text this morning basicaly saying she isnt buying my two boys anything as we dont buy her step son(her dh's son from his first marriage who has never lived with them and she does nothing but moan when he stays with them) and he has asked the couple of times he has been with her for Christmas why we dont? I just text her back saying he has nothing to do with me or dh but thats beside the point. Told her I think shes out of order seeing as she knew my two boys long before I was with dh (her brother). Told her not to worry about it as I wasn't. She hasnt text me back.
Then I took ds4 to docs for his jabs. His appt was for 10.40 so I got there for 10.30. The nurse was running late so he didnt actualy have his jabs till 11 so then it was a mad rush back to pick ds3 up from nursery at 11.30. I asked my neighbours son to get him but the nursery wouldnt let him go as I hadnt rung to let them know. Yeah ok that bit was my fault as I dont have the schools number on my mobile. Have now and everyones home safe and sound. Phew!!
I feel utterly exhausted now and very thirsty tooGot to change my hairdresser appt in a min too as I have a scan next Tuesday at exactly the same time.
Awen hows things? Ill pop over to your thread now.
Need to know whos coming this evening if anyone?

mixedmama · 29/11/2007 14:14

Hey ladies sorry for being away for a few days. Just so busy at the moment. Had a lovely time meeting up with Fluffymummy and Ayreshirelolo on Tuesday we had so much to say in such a short period of time Had a bit of a scary appointment, not in a physical way don?t worry, yesterday. It was with the consultant anaesthetist about my options if things don?t go according to plan and I need a section either planned or emergency. With my blood condition, there are a few added dimensions that scared me to death. Still better to know in advance and I left hoping (in the nicest possible way) that I wouldn?t be seeing the lovely Dr again!! Hope everyone is well

fluffymummy · 29/11/2007 15:41

Gosh, its gone quiet since everyone has left for maternity leave!! Come on ladies, surely daytime tv, haircuts, shopping and seeing friends can't be as much fun as posting on Mumsnet...can they?

OK, off to physio - I expect to see 100's of posts by the time I get back

Fluffy xx

katyt1 · 29/11/2007 16:41

OMG it finally happened...i sneezed...and wet myself

and yes i have been doing my pelvic floor exercises...

oops! luckily at home so just went and changed but what if i'd been out??? will i have to become tenalady?

gingeme - sounds like a frantic day.

mrsmc - looking forward to getting caught up!

Neuro · 29/11/2007 16:43

Afternoon....is Mixedmama still here?
What is the plan tonight? Are we all still meeting up? If yes, where and when?!

Can i join the period pain/upset tummy/ group?

When i woke up yesterday i had the strangest feeling that i was going to maybe go into labour. The feeling is gone, but it was such a strong idea in my head i felt quite disappointed at bedtime!

Naetha · 29/11/2007 16:50

Hiya all, I'm not on Mat leave yet (tomorrow is my last day) but I'm absolutely stacked out at the moment - boss not in tomorrow though so I'll be on all day tomorrow!

Hope everyone is feeling well!

Letsgo · 29/11/2007 16:51

Hi

Katy1 - Oh poor you. Was it a lot or just a little? (or is that TMI?) Sorry just interested and empathetic. I am so surprised that it hasn't happened to me cos I have the weakest bladder in the world when I'm not pregnant!

I've just been to the midwife who thinks my period pains may be a UTI but not sure or just a tummy upset but definately not labour! They also want me to got for a GTT to see if I have gestational diabetes due to high levels of glucose in my urine. Has anyone got this? Does anyone know anything about it??

susiemj · 29/11/2007 16:52

Hello everyone!

Has anyone heard from Awen since this morning? Hope you're ok Awen!

O, Katy - I'm just waiting for it to happen. I'm glad you were at home. Glad you've got support thing. My SPD seems to have improved - which I don't really understand, so perhaps yours will too! I did wear the belt loads at first though. It's a bit of a minor miracle IMO

Sounds like SIL is being a bit vengeful Gingeme! She needn't put your DSs in the crossfire. Unreasonable woman!

Sorry about scary appointment Mrs Mc. At least you are being attended to?

May I raise the subject of baby baths? Now, I know they're not strictly necessary at first but I'm not fancying the washing up bowl idea that people keep telling me. Any ideas about baby tub vs. bath supports? And any idea of which one is good.

So far I've gleaned that the straight down the line baby bath can be cold for dear LO. But don't they get cold in an adult bath sitting on a support? Someone I know used a blow up one which was not cold. A possibility but is it stable? Come on ladies! Inform me.

Hope that's a long enough post for you, Fluffy. Hello to all (waves cheerfully)

Amani · 29/11/2007 16:57

Afternoon ladies,

Had my hair coloured and cut today, feel like flicking it around like the women on the hair ads now..

at another meet up - have a nice time.

Katy1 - don't worry about leaks like that too much, can happen towards the end of pregnancy due to all the pressures down there. Just keep up the pelvic floor exercise.

Fluffy 0 don't exhust yourself too much with the travelling.

Pregnant brain really catching up with me, left the house to pick DD up from nursery and forgot to lock the front door.

MrsMcJnr · 29/11/2007 17:01

I really enjoyed meeting Lolo and Fluffy too it was funny, they were EXACTLY the way I thought they would be, exactly the same as they are on here yeah!!!

Ayreshirelolo ? I can empathise with your cold sweat and palpitations, that was me running for my train on Tuesday night! remember I owe you not one but two drinks so don?t think you can hide from meeting me again sometime ? maybe I could be a welcome stop on your way to or from Edinburgh to collect/drop off your DSD sometime?

Phew! That?s a relief I didn?t offend you Susiemj I told Fluffy and Lolo on Tuesday that I was worried that I had and they told me you?d posted since and weren?t cross with me Good call on the nighties I got a sheet from the NCT about after the birth and they suggested taking clothes that you wore at 6 months to wear in hospital after the birth ? makes perfect sense but I just hadn?t thought about it that way! Didn?t get the Mothercare zoo stuff in the end (you put me off the Giraffe ) got an assortment of things and actually like the mix a lot better how about you? LOL at your Dr story, a woman seemed surprised the other day when I said I was expecting ? come on!!

Beller LOL one of my eBay purchases for the nursery didn?t go QUITE as expected! I bought some Fisher Price stacking boxes with jungle animals on them thinking that they?d sit on the floor to store things in but actually, they are toys and the biggest box is only 6cmx6cm not sure it was a fiver that well spent! I was bidding on some gorgeous cushions with jungle animals on them last night and I won the fuschia pink hippo wall clock (will DH let me keep that on the wall if Beanie is a boy? I guess he might object to that along with the pink flamingo!) how is the Finding Nemo nursery? All kitted out now? hope your friend is ok, sounds scary. Ohh yes, let?s talk nursing tops!! I have a few earmarked in the JJMB catalogue but nothing concrete yet ? especially not as they told me at Bravissimo to order my nursing bras in a 34/36 J or K!! currently challenging a G cup but cannot imagine needing a J or a K! enjoy Take That tonight ? so Babybel gets another chance to make an appearance at the concert and get a special mention from the boys!

Ninedragons ? that jerk in the taxi must have been a nasty shock I hope you are ok and the baby has been reassuring you.

MrsB ? what have you decided to do about the dance? Wow, that makes things very real when your NCT pals go into labour!

Amani ? hope you are feeling better and now able to enjoy mat leave glad the appointment went well. Isn?t 3/5 engaged quite exciting?!? Sorry to rub it in but I had a great sleep last night. I listened to the Hypnobirthing CD another MNetter sent me, I was breathing in the golden light and must have overdosed as I didn?t get up between 10 and 6 my concentration was a little bit hindered by DH?s roars of laughter at her voice though and my pussy cat pacing about on the bump trying to get comfy!

Katyt1 ? what happened at the physio? And how is your friend? You?ll have been to see her now but I would crave a new baby crate from Hotel Chocolat if it were me! when I?ve sent them, friends have loved them ? guess it?s not something you could take in though. LOL nearly wet myself reading how you?d wet yourself! Sorry!

Madmouse ? good to hear all was well at your appointment LOL finding it a bit lonely on here on Tuesday were you? Mat leave, sigh ? I wanna be on mat leave!

Gingeme ? good point about the name on the changing bag sorry about your SIL and your boys

Sabinar ? I?m getting quite interested in the aromatherapy stuff. I spent ages in Neal?s Yard the other day just looking but got overwhelmed and left DH and I are collecting our Nature?s Nest tonight I think we are buying it from a friend (met her on MN actually ) can?t wait!! I?m going to get the mobile for it too ? the bugs (or whatever they are) are so cute! the Moffi is fab, enjoy your choice!

Fluffy ? how?s the back? When was your growth scan again? I have forgotten already glad you got home ok. Another Heroes fan I knew I liked you! Lots of Nathan in this week?s episode, DH was not happy!! when I flew Easyjet to Spain in October and was about 25 weeks and had a letter they STILL made a fuss!

Lilyloo ? 15 more working days for me now! the end is in sight for us both!

Luckysalem ? it doesn?t take much to have me in tears at the mo but I would have cried at that Lemur too

Nicky6 ? lovely news for your friend any end in sight for that trial?

Beckyau ? lovely to see you so hope the house is finished soon!!

Letsgo ? nice to see you too, I get the nausea sometimes now, a reminder that I am trying to do too much, take it easy

Hey there Mixedmama all ok?

Awen ? that?s progress with your sale ? hope the viewing went well! Fab bump, how did you manage to keep such a slim, toned butt!? must find this exciting chat about you????????.

sabinar · 29/11/2007 17:03

hey Susiemj - I've been thinking about getting one of those little baby baths that look like buckets, where they sit up in them - have you seen those? In all the pictures the babies look so happy. Apparently because it's more like the shape of the womb they freak out less... not sure how true that is.

I have to admit though... I spotted the washing up bowl under the sink yesterday and thought to myself 'eh, that'll do' - think I was perhaps being influenced by the battering I've given my credit card lately )

Awen - thinking of you! Hope all is well!

Katy1 - giggle sorry! hrm... maybe an extra dozen pelvic floor exercises every day?

MrsMcJnr - sorry to hear about scary appt. I'm sticking firmly with the 'positive thinking will make things work out just fine' approach at the moment (as misguided as it may be!) so I'm feeling confident you won't have to see that Dr again

Gingerme - eh. your SIL sounds like she is being silly and petty and a little like the Grinch. We don't like her.

Well, I had what I thought was going to be a pretty easy day today - a lunchtime work meeting, then a little Christmas shopping, then home again to do some work then NCT classes tonight. By the time I walked home from the train I was completely stuffed... little things are definitely getting more difficult these days... wonder long I'm going to hold out!

Whilst Christmas shopping I bought myself a little present - a new t-shirt and jeans from Mamas and Papas. How have I managed not to notice that store right near Oxford Circus until now. I had pretty much convinced myself to hold out with the clothes I already had, but just tried on the jeans to see how they felt, and they felt soooo good. Made me realise how ratty all my other trousers are at the moment, so they had to come home with me. V pleased with them.

Hope everyone is well. I'm going to have to get some sugar or something into me to help me stay awake through 2.5hrs of NCT class tonight I think!

fruitful · 29/11/2007 17:27

I am back in hospital again (nothing dramatic, it was planned for me to come back in at 31 weeks). Trying to appreciate the rest & relaxation. My cs is planned for 20th December although I can't really believe that I'm going to get that far.

MrsMcJ - is it a blood clotting thing you have? There was a lady in here this week who had something like that and went for a cs yesterday; the docs were all geared up for the worst-case-scenario as they do, but I saw her this morning and it was all fine.

Susiemj; the nice things about baby baths are that you don't have to bend down into the bath (we had one that rested on the top of the bath) and you don't use so much water. Bath supports mean you can have your hands free to wash/play with the baby. Two different things - we have both! Although baths are dh's job. When Ds was about 6 mths old I was giving him a bath cos dh was away, and I suddenly thought "I don't think I've ever done this before" .

Awen, did you see your mw?

Triplets&twins, how is the bedrest going?

Amani · 29/11/2007 17:29

Fruitful - how comes you back in hospital? (sorry if you mentioned it before - as you can se from my prior posting my memory is not brilliant)
Hope it's not too serious?

katyt1 · 29/11/2007 17:46

hmm some of you are more sympathetic than others, hmph! just wait till it happens to you

letsgo - it wasn't much but it seemed to go a long way , if i'd been wearing light trousers it would def have shown (tmi!). how is the seasickness?
glad the m/w doesn't think it's labour anyway.

susie - been wearing the tubigrip support today and it's quite comfy - as well as keeping me warm! tried on the belt but it's quite cumbersome so will prob just save that in case things get worse. think if i stay careful and supported it might get better, or at least certainly not worse.
re baths - i had a baby bath from jjmb then has an inflatable base and one end lifts up to make an angled base (if that makes sense?) but we didn't use it often, changed to the normal bath pretty quickly. haven't tried anything else.

amani - re pg brain, i've done worse, tho of course can't remember right now, haha! at least you didn't forget to pick up dd, or hope not anyway.

mrsmc - the physio was good, felt a bit of a fraud as wasn't in pain then and none of the exercises really hurt either. she gave me a couple of options re support and basically said to carry on with my being careful rolling over, getting in and out of car, etc.
my friend is ok, the c-s took a while as baby was firmly wedged in, she reacted badly to the drugs so isn't on any pain relief now (oh except paracetamol ), and they want a urine sample before they can be discharged which is proving tricky.
i will look up the hotel choc stuff may get her that before christmas to cheer her up if recovery is going slowly, so thanks.
(plus it might give dh ideas..)

sab - i went into that M&P shop with ds a while ago and the lift broke when we were upstairs and no-one would help us so had to carry him downstairs in his buggy put me off somewhat.
not convinced by those funny baths but let me know if you do use one.

ninedragons - all ok? hope so.

and same for you awen.
well and everyone else too of course.

woohoo, dh back in about half an hour after his last work trip abroad before baby. can't wait for him to get back and help out. ds was up crying 3 times last night , he's not well bless him and not eating either.
had popcorn and one bite of a choc digestive for tea ...

phew, long post sorry!

Naetha · 29/11/2007 18:37

Yay home at last - work has been absolutely hectic recently as tomorrow is my last day - yay!!

I have to admit, I can't wait for my mat leave to start, although my to-do list for next week is even bigger than the one for this week!!

Your Glasgow meet-up sounds lovely! Any northern (i.e. close to Leeds/Bradford/Manchester)ladies interested in meeting up at all? Suggested it a few weeks ago, but I think everyone is too far away!

I've had a slightly mad few weeks - our kitchen is now finished except for the floor (which needs new lino) and the walls (which need a touch of polyfilla and painting!) - photos here (they are large though!) img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/Naetha/kitchen1.jpg
img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/Naetha/kitchen2.jpg
BeckyAu - I really sympathise with you with all your building work going on - it was bad enough with just a kitchen being done - hopefully everything will be ready soon

Had my latest MW appointment yesterday, and my bump is measuring above the 95th centile now, so I need to go for a scan. Not that I'm too worried, in fact I'm looking forwards to having another look at LO. According to the growth chart, he's currently (at 35+4) weighing in at 7lbs 7oz!!!!! This scares me a little as DH was only 6lbs when he was born, and I was 8lbs 8oz when I was born, but I was two weeks late! Not too sure what the options are if he turns out to be a whopper, or if there are any at all and I'll just end up having to squeeze out a 12lb baby at 42 weeks!

Trying to pee in the pot for the urine sample was an absolute hoot - despite having drunk a pint of water an hour before I couldn't get a decent "flow" up, and added to the fact due to size of bump I couldn't see anything down there so just had to guess! Needless to say it was messy and I only got half a pot!

Sorry to hear people are still having poor nights' sleep - it's one of the reasons I'm so glad my mat leave starts next week - when I hit 3pm and I'm falling asleep at my desk, I can actually have a nap!

MrsMc - have you booted your cats out of your bedroom yet? We still haven't had the heart to yet, and all three are sharing our bed!

How are people doing stretch mark wise? I was feeling really smug until this morning when i found a batch of silvery lines radiating out from my belly button - I thought I'd got away with it!! I really need to cram on the bio-oil! I was thinking as well...d'you reckon there's any link between getting stretch marks and tearing during labour? Just a random pondering I had in the car the other day

Right I'm off to have some dinner and then watch Stargate Atlantis and Heroes from tuesday and wednesday nights - so nice to have the house to ourselves again and slob around! (This morning I made the tea in the nudd - not like I normally do it, but was nice not to have to chuck some clothes on in my own home!)

Hope everyone has a good night's sleep, and for those finishing tomorrow a good last day

MamaMaiasaura · 29/11/2007 18:41

Have a good weekend everyone xxxxxxxx

Naetha · 30/11/2007 08:59

Morning all - last day yay!!!

Having said that, I'm a bit narked - organised an office lunch outing (our office isn't huge) but one of the directors has come along and decided to do their (compulsory attendance) quarterly presentation this lunchtime, so I'm not going to get my goodbye lunch

Ah well, not that fussed - won't be at work for much longer!!

Awen - hope things go they way you want to re: contractions and labour etc! You're 36 weeks now (I think) so no real harm in your LO putting in an early show I guess, although it would be polite for him to wait for your DP to return from Japan! Am I right in thinking that you went for a scan as yours is a bit of a whopper too? If so, what were the results, and the consequences?

Had a horrible night's sleep last night - bit of an argument with DH (he was in the mood, I wasn't (and haven't been for about the last 3 months), he tried to be all cute and naughty, then when it didn't work went all rejected and huffy) then I had horrible dreams all night - dreamt I was being chased by something, kept on waking up sweating buckets even though it wasn't that hot etc. By 4am I gave up trying to sleep and just lay there.

Anyway - I'd better pretend to do some work for at least part of the day!

fruitful · 30/11/2007 09:33

From Awen's other thread it looks like she might be in labour! Lets hope things hold off till her dp gets home. Awen let us know how its going if you see this!

You know when you first think that you might want an ickle baby of your own? All those things nobody tells you? Like the ickle baby will grow up and go to school and get NITS and come home and give them to you! Aaaaaagh. I have all over pg itchiness so I thought it was that but I caught a live one this morning. Yeuch. The mw is trying to find out what I can use! And planning to take blood in case I have that liver-itchiness thing.

beller · 30/11/2007 09:40

Naetha - Thats just mean of the director...i would be peeved too!

Fruitful - Hope you get rid of them soon.....I have got all that to look forward to!! Hope you dont have the liver itchiness thingy xx

Amani · 30/11/2007 09:50

Morning all,

Congrtualtions beller, nathea and anyone on their last day at wok

Naetha · 30/11/2007 09:56
