Amani · 28/11/2007 17:23

Well finally finished my meeting and at home now. Mat leave offically begins!!

Hopefully I would like to be one of the first to drop. Still aiming for a pre-Xmas baby!

sabinar · 28/11/2007 17:25

Awen - sorry to hear you're having car-hunting issues... we've been putting off doing exactly the same for months now... were supposed to have one by September at the latest and now what is it? practically December? yikes.

on that topic, can anyone make recommendations about where the best place to look for a second hand car in London is? We've been looking online on Gumtree, but not sure that's the best strategy.

Amani - congratulations on making it to Maternity Leave. That's very exciting. I hope you get lots of relaxing time now and not too much running around organising stuff. I've just had about a week where work has been quiet and I have to admit I wasted it a bit by worrying that I had no work... of course, today it's all started flooding back in again and I'm even taking bookings for next year... just trying to decide/guess when I might possibly be ready to do some work post-bub.

I went and did my first yoga class post-ankle sprain this afternoon... it was great. Am I the only one who thinks pregnancy yoga is the best ever? We're going to do a Yoga Birth Rehearsal in a week or so... looking forward to that. I have some friends who have told me that stuff they learned in yoga is what has gotten them through a homebirth successfully, so I'm learning as much as I can.

Still thinking of doing some hypnotherapy classes too - has anyone else done them? Do you think they're any better than just getting the CD?

Last thing, and then I'll stop blabbing on - I had a good online shopping day today. Received in the mail the cutest/funniest outfit that I ordered the other day. It is soooo tiny and it made me laugh out loud. It is the first time I've ever actually thought 'I can't wait to see LO wearing this!'. Also ordered a few more bits and pieces online and think that my list is almost under control. Feeling much better after a few days of effort (although my credit card is the worse for wear).

Oooh! and one more thing! I finally organised a cleanner. Starting next week I have someone coming in to do all the things I hate like washing the floor, cleaning the bathrooms, dusting (I don't hate that, I just completely forget about it for months on end) and doing the ironing. Yay! I can't wait!

ok. enough about me.

hope everyone has a great night at Chinese tonight. I quite fancy some Chinese myself... which reminds me.. have no idea what we're having for dinner tonight!

blah, blah. gosh I carry on sometimes!

I'll see a few of you at the meet up tomorrow.
Mixedmama - please can you remind me of the details where and when etc...
thanks and hugs to all
Neuro xx

Hi ladies just thought Id pop in on a break from stripping. Nearly done. Just the top bits for dh to do as Im risking standing on a chair. What is taking so long is the polystyrene stuff underneath. The papers peeled off no probs. Trouble is Ill have to hoover loads because I dont want tiny balls of polystyrene all over the flat.
Need a rant if anyones listening. I texted my sil earlier to ask what she has bought my two big boys for Christmas as they need pj's and was going to suggest this to her. She texted back saying' To be honest Im not buting them anything because they don't live with you anymore' . Oh Im so f**ng angry.
Ok rant over.
Right so its only two other ladies going tommorrow? Shall we make it another time then or do you still want to meet?
Babys going mad now Ive sat down. Dh making yummy jacket potatoe for dinner. Im starving now.
Ill pop back later and see if there are any more takers on tommorrows meet up.
xxx

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 17:47

Gingeme - about to leave but just had to answer and say that is absolutely disgusting. Arent they coming to you for Xmas anyway?

gingeme · 28/11/2007 17:49

My boys yes my in laws no way. I just sent her a text back saying 'right ok say no more!'.

Bettymamma · 28/11/2007 19:38

Hi ladies

Have been missing for a couple of weeks apologies. Had a small fall at the station when commuting to work - nothing too serious but meant i missed the meet up last week and then have been training my replacement at work so didn't have time to get on here and catch up!

Anyway - have finally started maternity leave - yippee! But didn't realise exactly how little rest I'd be getting with a toddler. Last time it was easy peasy - spent most of the timing dosing and tidying the house. This time I running around like a nutter trying to entertain dd!

gingeme - your sil is mean. They are still your kiddies. Thats such a shame and really strange attitude.

Awen - I've been getting the period pains/tightenings same as you (due on the same date). Have you been overdosing on the raspberry leaf tea like me?

Mixedmama - i feel like i know you in real life now facebook friend!

Amani - how you enjoying maternity leave with your dd?

Sabinar - i LOVE pregnancy yoga and think my fast birth last time was partly due to the breathing relaxation stuff it taught me. Am enjoying it this time as well.

Right got to go and get LO into her pjs's.

speak soon i promise. Hope you are all wellxxx

Angechica · 28/11/2007 21:41

hello all, OOH I feel fit to burst today.

no time to catch up as bath awaite (am I the only late bird on here now!)

Breastfeeding workshop in the morning then going for goodbye meal with work - we are going for tapas, yum.

A couple of tips for you:

One lady at work got me some Asda organic cotton baby clothes - they are VERY cute. Oddly I had already seen them and bought a little romper suit from the same range myself. Still probably not produced ethically, how could they be at such cheap prices, but they are so soft and cute!

Went to Boots to get DH christmas present tonight (he wanted a new shaver) & If you spend 50 pounds you get 1000 points - tomorrow evening after 3pm as well!

gingeme · 28/11/2007 21:43

Oh dear bettymamma hope your ok. Fun at home with a toddler isnt it? . Will you be coming to the meet up tommorrow?
Ive just had a lovely warm bath and a couple of paracetamol and feel alot more relaxed. Bedroom looks weird though with no wall paper.

ayrshirelolo · 28/11/2007 22:05

Hello!
how are you all? Delighted for you Amani! i'm trying to sort out my annual leave etc so i can leave 2 weeks tomorrow, not Friday(? where's the sense in that?) just know i will find it the longest week ever so a 4 day week will be better!
Awen i'll have a look at AIBU in a wee while, but server's been a bit tempremental, so wanted to say "hi" first! We bought a bigger car in June, when i found out i was up the duff again as we realised a 3 door Golf wouldn't really do the job! Ended up getting a good deal on a Vectra diesel estate, about 3 years old. Only problem is it's black and looks like a hearse, but that just adds to the appeal i think!! Car shopping is about as stressful as selling houses, though... take it easy chum!
Gingeme, that's utterly shocking! I kind of understand, i have a step daughter of 13 and ALWAYS have to remind my sister to buy her a birthday present, Easter egg etc, and it's really hurtful! She's part of my family even if she's "only dd's HALF sister, not a real sibling!" Makes me MAD!! Hope ALL your boys have a brilliant Christmas anyway.. sod the SIL!
Sab, the yoga sounds fab, but i'm so enormous i don't think i could! waddling to the loo seems about the most exercise i can manage!
Hello Neuro, Bettymama, LuckyS, Fluffy (hope you got home ok!), Mrs McJ (you too!!),Barristermum, Mrs Biscuit, Madmouse, everyone else!! (((frantic waving at everyone!!))) night all, lolo xx
PS... managed NOT to charge up to complete strangers today and insult them horribly by making the erroneous assumption that they are 7 months pregnant....... still cringing, but glad if some of you got a giggle out of it, i'm really not that much of a bitch!!(well, not often! )

sabinar · 28/11/2007 22:17

ayrshirelolo - don't let the 'yoga' thing put you off... a lot of it lying around on the ground being relaxed and lots of breathing. Calling it yoga just makes it sound like exercise.

mixedmama · 29/11/2007 08:35

Morning all,

Am at work a whole hour early for absolutely no reason other than i thought i would get the bus in. So surfing the web for a whole extra hour.

Bettymama / Awen - I have the same due date as both of you and I also have the period type cramps... some evenings I really think is this it. LAst night I even timed them... for about 3 mins until I realised I was being nutty.

susiemj · 29/11/2007 09:40

Just wanted to say hello to mixedmama - as you're in early and no on else is about!

How much have you spent on the internet?

MrsBiscuit · 29/11/2007 09:40

Hello,
Just popping in, will catch up on everyone's news later.

Sbainar - I've used Autotrader to get second hand cars. I got quite a good deal on an ex-lease Golf, which was in fairly good nick and cheaper than going to a main dealer.

Hope everyone else is well,
x

gingeme · 29/11/2007 09:41

Morning all. mixedmamma are you mad? A whole hour early? Did you find anything good while you were surfing?
Got to take my one year old for his mmr at 10.40. not looking forward to it
Doesnt help that I didnt get much sleep due to bloody heartburn then dh getting up for work at 4.30 am and being so noisy then I woke at 6am for a wee and finaly again at 7.30 to get dc out of bed and ready for school.
Phew!
Well I hope you are all feeling a bit better than I am.
My parents are coming down today to drop our Christmas presants off as they are going to Cyprus for Christmas. They say every year they are going away for Christmas and never do. Well we are all shocked they are this year
Well Ill pop back later if I can.
Have a good day all xxx

Morning ladies,

Had a very good night sleep, so ready to save the world 'James Bond' style if needed , with James Bond would be nice!!

Gingeme - how horrible of your SIL. Glad you told off.

Battymama - good to have you bak. Was thinking of you last night and wondering where you had disappeared to. Hope you are ok after your fall?

Beller - you crazy TAKE THAT fan! Enjoy yourself and let us know how it goes.

Awen - how exciting - things are kicking of then - will check iut your thread in a bit.

beller · 29/11/2007 10:38

Awen - have answered thread....how exciting!! I had pains and BH tues for a while...no "show" though! Keep us up to date..have you spoken to DH?

Amani · 29/11/2007 10:40

Battymama -think I'm going to be like you next week with DD. Trying to think of things to do with her while she will be at home. She'll stil be going nursery Tues-Thurs AM and then maybe drop her off at ILs on Mon and Fri for a couple hrs to get change of envisronment. However she gets restless quickly, so looking at mother and toddler groups and story time sessions at our local library.

LuckySalem · 29/11/2007 11:14

Just a quick one to say, thinking of you awen. Keep us updated

Letsgo · 29/11/2007 11:46

Morning all.

Just read Awen's thread - how exciting. I'm experiencing very similar symptoms - period pains, upset tummy, however I am convinced it's not labour, the midwife thinks it might be a tummy upset so just resting (although doesn't seem to be making any difference)I've had them since Saturday.
I was wondering if this can happen if baby's head has moved down ie putting pressure on bladder/bowel?
Anyway I'm off to midwife this afternoon for regular check so will chat with her more then (I'm only 33 weeks)

Anyway - all the best to Awen

fluffymummy · 29/11/2007 12:16

Hi everyone

I got back from Glasgow last night - the flight wasn't too bad, only a bit delayed, and the roadworks on the M1 were only as bad as usual....but I must say, I was delighted to get home, safe in the knowledge that was my last work trip for about 11 months !

Absolutely knackered today, but I think that's more to do with not sleeping between 2am and 6.30am every night (am just lying there, generally feeling quite sick/seasick, with sore back and frequent loo breaks ) than from the travelling....

Anyway, not had time to do a proper catch up but am deeply deeply of Amani and everyone else gearing up for maternity leave...foolishly I just did a quick count of 'days left @ work' but got a bit depressed when I got past 25 even with days off for birthday (19th), xmas, new year and so on.... Yes, I know, I could probably start it sooner if I wanted, and I am thinking seriously about squeezing a bit of quality time in with DS before the bump arrives, but I've got soooo much work to get through and they still haven't sorted out my maternity cover, so I think I'll be creating problems for myself in the long run if I leave early .

OK, spot the person who intends to return to their current job!

Right, going to bunk off work for a bit today - about to go and meet up with an old schoolfriend who I've not seen for 15 years (gulp!) who's got an 8 week old baby (hurrah for facebook!), and got physio this afternoon as well. Will pay the price when working late tonight to catch up, but hey....

Hugs to everyone, especially to those who sound like they're gearing up for the big 'un..... Personally I'm channelling "please please don't come early" at my wiggling bump!!!

xxx

katyt1 · 29/11/2007 12:20

fluffy - welcome back and wow you have a better work ethic than me

awen - tho it's exciting if the thread kicks off with arrivals, i hope not for your sake seeing as you are a little early and dp is away.

can hear ds thundering around upstairs when he's meant to be sleeping so can't be long.

meant to say the other day, i saw the physio and have mild spd, as long as i keep being careful and wearing support tubi-grip or belt i shd be ok. main thing is it shouldn't interfere with home birth

dh back some time today from the US, left sun morning and i have found it the hardest trip away yet. hoping he can make it back for tea or bathtime but unlikely. ah well he has tomorrow off to make it up to me - & ds!

right, best try and get him to lie down for a bit, back later
