Helloooooo????

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nicky6 · 25/11/2007 16:19

you have all managed to shame me into actually doing something and i am now the proud owner of some breast pads and nipple cream - well its a start i guess.

work very busy - in fact just finished off abit now.

case is still touch and go may go into next year. I still have 9 weeks to go but quite jealous of you lot with only one week left at work.

Am actually sleeping pretty well still so making the most of it while i can.

anyway hope you all having a relaxing weekend and i will try to keep up with you all next week

LuckySalem · 25/11/2007 17:03

I'm having the worst sleeping time at the moment ( Nicky6)
I can't sleep any way except on my side but after about an hour my side goes numb and tingly so I have to turn over. - Cue need to p, get a drink, get comfy, about an hour sleep then back to the beginning! ARGH.

I've packed my bags so if baby arrives we're ready to go.

Oh I had a wierd night last night. Was watching "Angel" on DVD and when his baby was born (crying) my little un starts doing the hokey cokey in my belly. I get up to p and when I come back my right nipple is leaking clear fluid. Really strange.

Anyway, Im really bored so going to see which threads i can join in on.

LilyLoo · 25/11/2007 20:48

ooh Lucky exciting stuff.
I have been having lots of quite strong braxton hicks but nothing more. Have been so sick though today for the second time this week. Was the same with dd and there is nothing worse than retching with a bump in the way of the toilet.
Bless dp he brought me breakfast in bed which was lovely i then threw it all up minutes later
The midwife came today to do home birth assessment and had to go through all the things that could go wrong. Seems a bit silly that this is the first time i have had to go through any of this despite it being my 3rd. Midwife agreed and said it really annoys her too as they only have to do it with homebirths!
Anyway all set should be getting a box ful of stuff from them in next couple weeks and birth pool being delivered on Tue. All seems real now!
Even been on the Dec thread and they really starting to come now Seems funny reading all due dates then underneath babies names and arrival date!
Good luck to all those finishing work this week hope you have nice week and get some lovely pressies. xx LL

MrsMcJnr · 25/11/2007 21:05

Hey ladies I feel like the weekend has gone in a flash again! We had our second NCT workshop today, lots of food for thought as always a couple brought in their 2 weeks old baby girl to tell us about their experience to date ? she was gorgeous!! The mother looked amazing too and I am now in love with her Radley changing bag!

How are you all? Will I ever be able to catch up!?

Madmouse ? sounds like leaving work will be good for you how awful for your colleague I hope she is ok. I have been attacked twice and on both occasions it was horrible and really scary . I think you do become hardened to work place issues, I used to do a lot of matrimonial and child law cases and got that way too. Poor you on the train

Mixedmama ? hello

Fluffymummy ? hope you are feeling much better, sounded like a nasty cold

Gingeme ? so glad all went well at the MW check and that you got the car and the cot what a horrible comment from your Mum

LuckySalem ? maybe I should sell some stuff on eBay instead of buying stuff all the time sorry about the heated discussion with your Mum sounds to me like she just can?t bear the thought of you going through it without her support which is really sweet in one way but I can see why you found the conversation irritating the car suggestion was very odd, does she expect you to drive when you are in labour?! that box of clothes sounds fab and love the sound of the ickle trainers how was the labour tour? So glad you are happy with the way the appeal meeting went it?ll also be a weight off your mind any more contractions? How exciting!!

Tripletsandtwins ? hope you had a good Thanksgiving how are you?

Lilyloo ? hello there

Sabinar ? my appetite is a bit up and down too, some hungry days, others where I don?t feel much like food at all. How?s the ankle?

Angechica glad to hear you finally got the test, how did it go? 3/5 engaged ? wow! Exciting stuff!! LOL about ?relations? it seems that my DH has recovered from his bump phobia too

Ayrshirelolo ? thanks for sharing your experience thanks for the directions for Tuesday, think I?ll get the underground then I?m into the Angel Delight too ? actually? might have to have some!

Kayt1 ? I?m with you on being clothed for labour

MrsB ? oh dear I wouldn?t fancy that drive myself either I have to say, I think if it were me I?d miss the class and come back with him. Good luck with the car.

Susiemj ? glad the MW appointment went well, don?t worry about a big baby based on fundal height alone
Fruitful ? lovely to hear from you sounds like you have a lot of big decisions to make hon DH was taught that BRAN acronym at Dads 2 Be I?ve read that skin to skin with Dad?s is equally as comforting as with Mums, not sure if it helps from a BF perspective but it should definitely give your baby comfort if Daddy does it in your place

Amani - I TRY to sleep on my left with my cushion supporting the bump but often try to roll over onto my back. Same routine as MrsB exactly

Beller ? are you starting the raspberry leaf then? I think I?ll try that from next week and also start the perineal massage, better than tearing but I can?t remember what to do it with oil wise

Awen ? sounds like you have a lot on your plate hon, take care now x How lovely to be thrown a baby shower

Lulubump ? glad all was well at the MW & the GP, enjoy your rest what a mean examiner I?m am a bit dyslexic and needed to be shown which way was left and which was right in a stressful situation like that.

Naetha ? busy lady!

Ainatx ? welcome and congratulations I?m miles away from you I?m afraid!

Barristermum ? glad you Dad was doing well in the face of it all hope the nighties are ok when you get them, I haven?t got mine yet but they looked nice and plain and practical

Hey Nicky6 ? now you?ve started getting things, you won?t be able to stop

Looking forward to the meet up on Tuesday in Glasgow

LuckySalem · 25/11/2007 21:12

Bloody hell MrsMc!!

No more contractions so either it was strong BH or just a warning of things to come. lol.
Convos with mum are fine now, she's accepted i'm going to do what I want and she'll have to make do.
We didn't have our labour tour, the class was cancelled on Thursday cos the ward was too busy (makes me wonder how bloody busy it was that they couldn't spare 1 MW ) Now they're joining the labour and pain relief into 1 class instead. SO NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT BUT THERE YOU GO.

LilyLoo · 25/11/2007 21:19

The question is MrsMc you have created a rod for your own back now as we will all be relying on you to catch us up when the bubbas arrive

Mossy · 25/11/2007 21:25

Sorry to interrupt ladies but it's that time of the month again! Are any of you in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding? Look here for details of an antenatal breastfeeding workshop this Thursday, especially for pg ladies. It's not a "sales pitch"; no one is going to try and "talk you into it"; it's more of a "how to" so that if you do go down the bf route, you'll be prepared once you've given birth.

And there's free biscuits. And tea. And coffee.

LuckySalem · 25/11/2007 22:31

Quick question ladies - If you've been standing up for a long time doing housework etc. Do you get pains in your lower back? I've got a really painful Coxix (sp?) when I sit down now, have just been tidying kitchen.

MamaMaiasaura · 25/11/2007 23:20

Yes I do lucky. I have just had a marathon day of cleaning (estate agent out for photos tomorrow) and I am finding it very hard to walk now. Have also been finding generally getting out of bed, standing up pianful in lower back and private area.

MamaMaiasaura · 25/11/2007 23:26

wow mrsmcjnr that was a marathon catch up!

I have started on the raspberry leaf tea (when i remember) anything from 1-3 cups a day i have had. It tastes lovely. Re the perineal massage cant quite reach! lol. Dp not here to give me a hand either. Thank you for your message, am trying not to do too much biut it all seems to be piling up. The baby shower was lovely... except the tasting baby food game It really meant alot as it was a complete surprise.

Amani · 26/11/2007 08:31

Morning ladies,

You have been busy this weekend!

LuckySalam - Well done with the results. Oh, just read your bit on contraction - could this be it?? ..or maybe not!

Talking about driving - I've had to push my seat further back to accomodate bump; feel so far away from the sterring wheel!

Awen - hope you had a lovely baby shower. Amm getting a lot of pains in my pubic bone area too. . Had juck food gorge over the weekend. Ate Harry Reamsden Fish and Chips for Sat lunch and then for dinner, Domino's Pizza (large) with garlic mushrooms and waffles for dessert. Yum yum!

3 working days left..whoooohooo!!! Defo starting to wind down now....

Getting lots of pokes from LO - could see bits (not sure what though) poking out over the weekend.

Sleep update - another crap night sleep - but not due to bump! Woke up around 2am as I had a mega bad sore throat so went down to set some Stepsils, then DD woke up at 4am full of joy and life and didn't settle back until 6am! Not like her at all, but it was funny when I tried to get her to settle down with us under the under the duvet, she jumped out came jumping over to me saying 'Where's mummy gone? I can see you!' bless her.

Anyone else got those Gap vouchers that were doing the rounds on the internet? Went into GAP on Saturday and bought a few cute dresses for DD to wear to the functions that we have over Xmas and Eid. Didn't buy anything for LO as the neutral stuff was a bit pants.

beller · 26/11/2007 09:20

Morning all!

Ayreshirelolo - I had trousers and black top on..and stuffed pizza all night..not very bond liek either

Madmouse - Thats terible..should have said something..although you shouldnt have had to!

Luckysalem- how exciting about the contractions! I have been having alot of BH, would be able to cope with labour if they were like that Hope its not long for you zxxx I get lower back pain when i stand for more than about 20 mins!

NIcky6 - Glad the case is going ok, hope it finishes early for you xxxxxx

Mrsmcjnr - Yes i have started the tablets now..take 2 3 times a day! I think the oil they said to use for P massage was sweet almond oil or just oilve oil? I struggle to reach too

Awen - babyshower sounds fab! xx

Amani - were the vouchers 60 or 30 % off? I got sent to mails, but then got told they were fake?

Last monday of getting up at 5.30 this mng....well until babybel arrives, then i will be getting up every 2-3 hours! hahaha
Im feeling ok...still getting pubic pain, but everyone keeps telling me they think the babyb has dropped...Getting soooooo excited now! Have BF NCT class tonight...wonder what that will be like
Hope everyone is well..How did the meet on friday go?
xxxxx

fluffymummy · 26/11/2007 09:33

Morning all!

Still got a cold but its slowly clearing up...sadly the back pain/sciatica is still pretty bad and kept me awake for large amounts of last night

Its been going on all weekend and is quite limiting - it just takes an hour or so of standing in the kitchen or doing stuff to trigger it off, and once its sore I just can't get comfortable sitting, standing or lying down

Unfortunately that tends to result in DH insisting I not travel to Glasgow today...which is sweet, but unhelpful, as I am definitely going ! Off to my GP now to convince her that I really am 'fit for travel' even if that's stretching a point slightly ...definitely the last trip this pg tho - after this I'm staying in London !

The physio gave me a support belt thing which helps a bit with prolonged standing, but must admit I'd prefer not to be dealing with airports and bags and things today..... Oh well, it will be worth it to see all you lovely Glasgow ladies for coffee tomorrow afternoon!!!

My brain is insufficiently in gear to respond to everyone else's posts, but big love to all and I'll catch up properly later in the week...hope you all have a good Monday!!!

Fluffy xxx

fluffymummy · 26/11/2007 09:40

PS Beller, I got told to use this www.gapcorporateinvite.com/uk/invite/form.aspx?reason=240&uid=2779
and put BT as the employer's name to get the voucher. Not sure if that helps - haven't had time to try it myself yet!

Naetha · 26/11/2007 09:42

Morning all

Good weekend overall - not as eventful as some of yours though! Luckysalem - sounds like you might have had a bit of a "dry run"!

Stepdad is still here, thankfully his ticket is booked for Wednesday, so he won't be staying any longer! I know I sound ever so ungrateful, but I just want my house back!! The kitchen is nearly finished, and to be fair, looks really good, I just wish it had been done in a week and a half like he'd said originally! Starting to get a little worried as well as he'd said it would probably cost about £1000 (for his time) and he's overrun massively and we've had to pay for a plumber to come out twice but we don't have much more cash! At least he's family and we can pay in instalments though!

We gave in and did a big pre-baby shop this weekend - went to babies 'r' us and got the moses basket, stand and mattress, as well as a bundle of sheets/blankets etc. We then faced Ikea (horrendous on a Sunday!!) and got a chest of drawers with integral changing table (quite cool - flips back into a shelf when you're not using it) and bits and pieces for the baby's room, including curtains, blanket, light shade, nightlight, nursing chair (poang chairs - really comfy!) and other bits. Just waiting for my DSD to finish so we can start decorating! (He's staying in the baby's room at the moment!).

Last week of work - yay!!! I can't wait to finish, although my to-do list once I finish will mean I'm even busier on maternity leave than I will be while still at work!

Think I'm coming down with a cold - it seems to be one of those ones that lurks until you go on holiday, then strikes with a vengeance!

Anyway, my boss is lurking so I'll post quickly!

Amani · 26/11/2007 09:47

Beller - used the 30% off voucher, the 60% one is a hoax.

Fluffymummy - get well soon hun.

Naetha - you and me both on this with this lurgy. Can feel a bit of temp coming along with this blasted sore throat and knowing my luck it will hit me when I am on on mat leave.

sabinar · 26/11/2007 10:38

good morning all

well, i've woken up this morning with a bit of a bee in my bonnet. suddenly feel like nothing is under control and I have to do lots of stuff this week... starting with cleaning the house which looks like a bomb has hit it, and then finally making some decisions and purchases etc. for bub - who I'm trying to convince myself will be a week late, but I don't dare work to that schedule.

my ankle is feeling much better thankfully so I"m a lot more mobile now, which helps. Am going back to the osteo tomorrow though so she can play with it some more and also take a look at the muscles at the top of my bump which are feeling really stretchy in a not comfortable way.

still having pretty rubbish sleeps... toilet breaks becoming more and more regular and just generally feeling more cumbersome. Rolling from one side to the other is now becoming a real palava.

Only have a relatively small amount of work to get through this week, so that's a relief.

Hope you're all well... I'm hoping by the end of today I'll have a nice big list of things ticked off my list and I'll be feeling much chirpier!

Amani & Naetha - hope you do escape the lurgy.. I had that a few weeks ago and it was pretty miserable.

susiemj · 26/11/2007 10:39

Morning all.

Really happy for those of you on your last week of work. You deserve a rest!

Those of you with achy back - can I just say again - Get thee to an osteopath! It might cost you £30 (steep I know) but I've been almost entirely free of discomfort - let alone pain - since I went. PLEASE GO!

(p.s. I do realise that you have work/childcare/money commitments that might make this difficult. Don't bite me please!)

Naetha - am jealous of your shopping. Sounds like you're going to have great fun putting the room together.

MrsMc - I'm not really worried about big baby (although husband weighed 12Lb when born ). It was based on what the midwife felt of the baby. I know fundal height is dodgy. Mmm Radley changing bag - lush!

Luckysalem - sorry your back is hurty. Sounds an eventful weekend. We're all ready for the off now aren't we? I keep having 'birth' dreams. I think I'll have to stop listening to the hypnotherapy CD before bed!

Amani - if it's not one thing it's another. Wishing a good night's sleep SOOOOON!

Awen - sorry about your back. Would a hot water bottle or something help?

Fluffy - About your back - I had physio too and have the belt. It's ok, but you know what I'm going to say, don't you. It's my mission for the day - osteopath!

Beller - hooray for last Monday of 5.30! Exciting if baby has dropped. I can't wait now, can you?

Sorry too for assorted lurgies. See you later!

MamaMaiasaura · 26/11/2007 11:01

Amani & Naetha - sorry you have both got the lurgy.

Naetha - must be a relief to be finishing work. Sounds like you got really organised with the baby stuff this weekend. You have to post pics of your new kitchen when complete. Sounds all very exciting

Lulubump · 26/11/2007 11:07

Morning all -
Nicky6 - well done on your first purchases Lilyloo - hope you're feeling better
Awen and Luckysalem - I'm the same with the back ache, but a few minutes of bouncing on my birthing ball usually ease it.
Amani - so cute about your DD! Hang in there with your cold, it must be one of those doing the rounds.
Beller - where did you get the raspberry leaf tabs, and what does are they? (there seem to be ones of different milligrams)
Fluffy - glad your cold is on the mend, and am just in awe at the travelling you're still managing to do!!
naetha - Yay on the shopping, and DSD leaving soon. Will be lovely to have your own space back.
Sabinar - glad work's eased off a bit, but don't go too crazy with the rest of your to do list!
Susiemj - lol @ your osteopath comments; clearly its done wonders for you
Awen - HOW have you managed to do all that this morning

Its my first day off work (woooohooo!), and I actually have done nothing yet with my morning, apart from ring work and tell them I won't be in. Any suggestions for crap but entertaining telly to while my day away? Oh god, its past 11:00, DH coming home for lunch at 12:00 and I'm still in my nightie with unbrushed hair. Doesn't bode well for the state I'll be in after LO arrives!

Lulubump · 26/11/2007 11:08

Oops, typo about the raspb leaf tabs - meant 'dose' not 'does'!

Naetha · 26/11/2007 11:10

Awen - about the Ford Focus, we were considering buying one, and had one as a hire car in Jersey for a week and it drove me mad! I found it uncomfortable and awkward, and the boot size is quite small considering. Also to be aware of, is that it is about 120mm wider than your average non-Ford car, so you're more likely to knock it, and can be a constraint if (like us) you have a narrow gateway.

We got a Mazda 6 (not to everyone's taste I'm sure though) and absolutely love it. Really glad we went with that. Second choice was Vauxhall Astra.

Amani · 26/11/2007 11:16

Lulubump - when I was on mat leave with DD I was addicted to Oprah. It's been a while since I've watched it again......

beller · 26/11/2007 11:25

Awen - am i mad..im actually looking fwd to the birth I know its going to hurt...but have done so much positive reading, im feeling relaxed about the whole thing!

Fluffymummy - thanks! hope youre feeling better, and try and take it easy on your trip xx

Naetha - looks like you had a good shopping trip! xx

Awen - thanks info xx

Lulubump - I bought mine from Hollan and Barret and i bought the stronger dose, 640 mg? xx

LuckySalem · 26/11/2007 13:10

Well aren't we all off to a chatty morning?

Lulu - It's now 1pm and I've only just got up (been watching TV in bed) i'm still in my PJ's and haven't brushed my hair. I have put the dishwasher and washing machine on though so don't feel so bad.

Back is definately if i've done too much. Great excuse for not doing much though

My bag is all packed, I've been getting the birth dreams and my nipples keep leaking clear liquid at night. I'm starting to think maybe this baby has realised i'm packed and thinks it might make an early appearance! lol I just hope it realises it still hasn't got it's own bedroom yet and should take it's time lol.

35 weeks tomorrow!!

Sorry to hear about the lurgy going around, they do say our immune system isn't as good before PG so makes sense that everyone is feeling abit run down.
