Aw amazing @Firevie it’s so nice that you know! 😁 and it’ll be really nice you get to tell people so soon too!

imisscoffee · 08/04/2021 07:25

Brilliant news @Firevie!

@Pancakes7 glad yesterday went well 😊

ELMcg · 08/04/2021 07:45

@Firevie aww that's so cute you are having a boy!

Hope this isn't rude but was the harmony test expensive? The bit of research I have done in my area its very vague on costings. My brother's wife got it and they swore by the peace of mind it gave them so wondering if it is worth doing.

In our NHS Trust you don't get told the gender, we can only find out by harmony test or private scan, still unsure if we would want to know but want to explore all the options if we decide to. Harmony test appeals to me because its such accurate screening, especially after MC I worry anything could be wrong with this baby!

Firevie · 08/04/2021 08:04

Thanks so much @PumpkinEverything and @imisscoffee and @ELMcg
No worries. I haven’t received my invoice yet for harmony but was told it’s about £500.I can update you once I get the invoice. My private doctor suggested I do it because of my history, my age and accuracy of the test. I’m glad I did it. I’m going for my combined screening and nuchal scan now but am glad I’ve do w harmony too. Cant go wrong with double confirmation. But agree it is v expensive so it’s a v personal choice. Hope this helps. Xxx

smarty4 · 08/04/2021 08:48

Glad nursery and work went well @Pancakes7

Also brilliant news about your harmony test results @Firevie. Hope you can enjoy your nhs scan. Can I ask is the harmony the same as the NIPT? I've had my screening done yesterday and subject to the results will likely go for NIPT before more invasive tests via the nhs.

PumpkinEverything · 08/04/2021 08:58

I looked into it as well @ELMcg and it seems to range from £400-600 roughly here. I would love to get it, but it’s just so much money 😳 we have a plan in place for saving before baby is born so it didn’t really fit in with that as it’s such a big cost. Really just hoping that all is okay 🤞🏻

MrsTD88 · 08/04/2021 09:04

I haven't posted in a while but been catching up on all your posts. Welcome @Chocolatemintcake and @IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay congratulations.

Good luck today @HereWeGoooo and @Firevie and congratulations on your little boy.

Oh how lovely @smarty4 I seen your post on the Facebook group. So glad all is progressing well with your twins.

@vitaminb33 I am over 15 weeks now and still on knicker watch, I had terrible cramps the other day and was a wreck. I think it was just my stomach recovering from a reaction I had to Pregnacare though. I changed from Max to regular and they haven't agreed with me so on different ones now and have been fine.

@Pancakes7 so glad all went well for you and your son. That must be such a relief.

Bellabubble · 08/04/2021 09:45

@MrsTD88 I’m over 15 weeks too and had some mild cramps the other day - mostly when I moved - felt like I’d pulled a stomach muscle! Very weird stage though as most of the sickness has gone but not at the stage for movement yet - so it sort of feels like you aren’t pregnant! I’m using the seven seas pregnancy vitamins - I recently swapped to them and have been pleasantly surprised!

MrsTD88 · 08/04/2021 09:54

@Bellabubble it is very unnerving isn't it, the cramps fill me with dread. I hate this in-between stage before regular movement. I've started feeling little flutters but they are not consistent at all, this will be my second baby so feeling flutters earlier than usual. Oh I've heard a few people say they prefer the Seven Seas, I'll give them a try once my batch from the midwife runs out.

Bellabubble · 08/04/2021 10:04

@MrsTD88 this is my first so I don’t expect to feel much earlier on (I usually have a bubbly thmmy anyways if I’m not careful with what I eat, as my body isn’t keen on dairy but I still try to eat some so I don’t get a full intolerance😂 but I wonder if that means I probably won’t pick up on flutters!) They also said my placenta was so central on the dating scan that they couldn’t say whether it would go front or back - I think if it’s near the front you can feel things earlier? Did I get that right? I used the seven seas conception ones too - it took me a while to find the pregnancy ones though! They weren’t in the supermarkets, I ended up bulk ordering a load from boots 😂

MrsTD88 · 08/04/2021 10:22

@Bellabubble oh no, I am a dairy addict. I sat last night and drank a pint of milk in one go because it looked so appealing. If the placenta is at the front it may take longer to feel movements as it acts as a cushion between baby and your tummy. I think it is called anterior at the front and posterior at the back? I forgot to ask placenta site at my dating scan and can't see mention of it on my notes but I have a private scan in a few weeks so will ask then. I've seen them in my local Boots so may pick some up, do they do breastfeeding ones too? I had a terrible time breastfeeding last time and ended up stopping but going to attempt it again.

Bellabubble · 08/04/2021 10:39

@MrsTD88 ahh wrong way round - whoops lol!! That makes sense though - if the placenta is at the front of course it will be hadder to feel movement! They do a pregnancy plus follow on that you can use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but I don’t know if that’s just the same as their pregnancy ones anyways (I don’t get ones with omega 3 tablets too as I use a separate type that is made from algae which I was taking before pregnancy as I’m not a fish eating lover lol!) I think if the vitamins you need don’t change too much - I might just continue with the seven seas pregnancy ones! My friemd told me her midwife said folic acid and vit D were important for breastfeeding and to drink lots of water.

Firevie · 08/04/2021 10:41

Thanks @MrsTD88 and @smarty4
I think the harmony and NIPT are the same?
Just finished my dating scan. The Sonographer was v thorough and checked the baby out in great detail. Heard a lovely heartbeat and saw it wiggle a little at he start of the scan. She said everything looked great, no concerns on her behalf. They said I’d get the screening results from my dating scan via post. Baby is measuring 13werks rather than 12+4 which has put my EDD forward to 14th October but she said the baby will come when he’s ready so anytime between 14th and 17th October. She’s given me the green light for yoga and swimming too. So once gyms open next week I’ll start going for a swim and I’ll have a look at some pregnancy yoga videos online.
The midwife told me I could continue taking pregnacare? I’ll double check with my private doctor, too.
How did your scan go @HereWeGoooo?
Xxx

MrsTD88 · 08/04/2021 12:52

@Bellabubble thank you, will definitely check out the Seven Seas ones as I've fallen out of love with Pregnacare.

Glad to hear all went well @Firevie

HereWeGoooo · 08/04/2021 13:42

It's good news @Firevie! I am over the moon. Here is my wee baby measuring 12w3d so current due date is 18 Oct 21. I thought I was 4 days behind this based on ovulation and big 10lb babies do run in my family! It was sooo lovely to hear everything looked good. I am now going to try and enjoy this pregnancy. It's a lovely feeling. Can't wait to start telling family and friends now.

Where I am, I don't get a letter through the post if screening is all ok - they just phone you if you're high risk within 5-10 days.

So pleased for you too Firevie. And to everyone else, KEEP THE FAITH!!

PumpkinEverything · 08/04/2021 13:46

Glad all went well @Firevie we’re very close in dates now then 😊 I’m 11th October.

@Bellabubble I’m the same 😂 I’ve convinced myself that my body is fine with cheese so always still eat it, but dairy doesn’t agree with me. Strangely I’ve actually been a bit better with it all since I’ve been pregnant. I’ve been eating more ice cream than normal! Again, could be lying to myself, or because I’ve been in a constant state of bloat I maybe don’t notice when it’s caused by dairy 😂

PumpkinEverything · 08/04/2021 13:47

Aw lovely photo @HereWeGoooo 😊 glad to hear all went well!

Bellabubble · 08/04/2021 13:48

@Firevie that’s great news!! My NHS sonographer wasn’t very thorough - I was so glad we had been to the private clinic as she was brilliant showing us all the anatomy etc :) I think there’s a baby boom in my area so the NHS is quite backed up! I also have been told to continue with my pregnancy vitamins :)

Anyone passed 15weeks, or been pregnant before - can you still get nausea coming and going? Before it was just constant nausea - now it’s every couple of days, but I’m back to only being able to eat soup again 😩

Bellabubble · 08/04/2021 13:51

@PumpkinEverything I’m glad it’s not just me lol!! I love gelato ice cream - mmmm! I might try some when I get passed the sweet food adversion (I say when - I’m living in hope 😂)

PumpkinEverything · 08/04/2021 13:56

Aw fingers crossed @Bellabubble I have been eating a lot of sweet stuff so I’m the opposite🙈 we were off last week and went for icecream two days in a row. Including getting this one day which is pretty much a meal replacement 😂 so nice tho! It’s vanilla ice cream, kinder ice cream, chocolate buttons, kinder pieces, Nutella and kinder sauce, and then the kinder bunny on top. Such a great Easter treat!

@PumpkinEverything that looks amazing!!

Firevie · 08/04/2021 14:02

@HereWeGoooo lovely scan pic! So pleased for you and that you can now start relaxing and enjoying your pregnancy!
@Bellabubble glad you had the private scan done also! Makes such a difference!
@PumpkinEverything we are v close with our due dates and can I just say I LOVE that gelato pic! I’m gonna try so hard to not eat chocolates for couple of weeks. I really have overdone it recently! Xxx

vitaminb33 · 08/04/2021 14:51

@HereWeGoooo brilliant news congratulations!

@Firevie oh that's lovely congrats on your little boy ❤️

@PumpkinEverything thanks I do feel like I'm shutting down a bit about it - in some ways as the pregnancy's progressed I've felt more confident but also the sense of dread is still strong. I've not got my scan date yet, I'm thinking it's likely to be pretty late as I opted out of the screening so they won't feel a need to see me early 🤷‍♀️

@MrsTD88 yes the random cramps cause so much fear! I get so much bloating and muscle pain tweaks it's so hard to not obsess

vitaminb33 · 08/04/2021 14:55

Also I had my first bloods taken at the hospital today and have my notes now. It was nice to briefly meet my midwife although felt quite stressful going back into the hospital. And when I was having my bloods done I mentioned the hematoma and the midwife was like "well nothing to worry about and if you start bleeding you'll know what it is", which I found a little reassuring, although if I do start bleeding I'm sure I'll have a complete anxiety attack about it regardless 🤦‍♀️

lamby12 · 08/04/2021 15:41

Hi everyone big congratulations on all the recent scans, seems like everyone who was on the beginning of this thread is getting to 12 weeks which is super exciting, gives me hope that it can work out ok this time around.

I'm currently 8 weeks so still got a way to go but I've done my maternity self referral and should get a call this week.

I've felt a bit anxious the last day or so as I haven't felt sick; still knackered, but worried that the sickness has gone and I've been really moody and down. I know mood swings are a symptoms of pregnancy but I usually suffer a lot with mood in my menstrual cycle and since conceiving I have felt much more in control of my anger (apart from being anxious etc, but that's different). Threw me a bit that I'm suddenly feeling different but trying to remind myself the pregnancy will change throughout.

I have just done something I never thought I would and cancelled a private scan! I feel like I need congratulations. I envisaged I would have loads of private scans up to 12 weeks, and had one dot on 6 weeks. However I then had one at the EPU at 7 weeks for spotting, all was fine. I was due to have one on Sunday which is just past 8 weeks but my mum can't now watch DD that day so I'd have to go on my own, and I have a weird nervousness about going on my own to a private scan in case something is wrong. It feels different at the EPU and you have no choice about going alone anyway. I was going to just move it but they didn't have any availability on DHs days off over the next 3 weeks, then we'll nearly be at the 12 week scan. I figure now that if there is a reason to worry (eg bleeding) I can call EPU now, but hopefully not having a scan will relieve unnecessary scanxiety!

Already feeling nervy I don't have a scan in the diary, as I don't have a date for 12 week yet. But hopefully it will force me to chill a bit?!
