@PumpkinEverything that sounds lush. I love honey roasted carrots and parsnips😋 We were going to do a roast today, but we've decided to have it tomorrow in the hopes that I might enjoy it more.

Pancakes7 · 04/04/2021 13:28

Happy Easter! 🐣

@marplemead & @PumpkinEverything I'm getting teary at the thought of leaving DS next week for work. Especially him going to Nursery. I just can't imagine leaving him for so long. I think that plus I'm hormonal it's just making me teary. Last night I got really tired and cried and I was like I don't even know why lol.

I've got a headache atm and DS is teething badly so is pretty upset and hasn't napped very well today. He was up in the night once too. I'm hoping he is feeling better by Wednesday for Nursery.

Afternoon tea sounds lovely and roast dinner sounds yum. I hope you can both enjoy the food. ❤️

Thanks for starting the new thread!

imisscoffee · 04/04/2021 15:58

Thanks @marplemead, your poor MIL.

I applaud you cooking a Sunday lunch @PumpkinEverything! I've made it clear I won't be making one until after this baby arrives. We've had a BBQ, ready for a nap now!

I hope next week goes well for you @Pancakes7, hopefully you and DS will get into the swing of things in a week or so.

Cafeaulait27 · 04/04/2021 16:14

Thank you for starting the new thread @Pancakes7!

Thank you @imisscoffee ❤️

Good luck for your scan on Thursday @Firevie 🤞🍀

We went to my husband’s parents yesterday and told them and his brother and fiancée, it was lovely! They were all especially happy because they knew about the mc last year. It was really nice to tell them good news!

Now I just am waiting for combined screening results sometime next week, hoping it all comes back clear as the scan looked normal 🤞🤞🤞

PumpkinEverything · 04/04/2021 16:21

Aw @Pancakes7 sounds like there’s just a lot happening at once! I know it’s not the same, but this time next year you’ll be looking after another little baby instead, and your son will soon be coming home telling you stories about how his day has went which will be exciting!

@imisscoffee thank you 🙈 but I don’t need too much credit as there’s only the two of us haha. So won’t be too much to make 😊 have just put the cake in the oven and decided to take a look at sorting out the baking cupboard and I regret my decision as it’s a mess and I need lots of storage containers for organising it

Pancakes7 · 04/04/2021 16:34

@PumpkinEverything Aw thank you, that's a lovely thought ❤️

Enjoy your roast and cake 😋

Thanks @pancakes7 can't believe that's another thread already! Thanks for setting up!

Week 6 for me now and feeling less wobbly this week. Symptoms only really went away for a couple of days and now they are back! They say every pregnancy is different but I'm having pretty similar to last time, can't stop sneezing at the moment 🤧 I literally wake up every morning with a stuffy nose. Anyone else?

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 08:48

@ELMcg I’m nearly 13 weeks now and I’m still sneezing and congested nose! I feel at my most rough/tired/sicky in the evening or when I’m hungry like just before lunch.

Hoping it’ll ease off in a few weeks! Xx

Smurf123 · 05/04/2021 08:48

@ELMcg I've had a stuffed nose from about week 6... Currently 22 +4 and still as stuffy!! I have stated some hayfever meds again but doesn't seem to be making a huge difference tbh🙈

marplemead · 05/04/2021 09:13

@ELMcg another with a congested nose here. DH has started complaining about my snoring, which he really struggled with last time.

We had a lovely day yesterday, and then I was violently sick in the evening. I haven't actually vomited for a few weeks, so I'm hoping it was because I over-indulged rather than a return to throwing up. DH is taking DD out so I can rest, and then hopefully I can enjoy a roast dinner later. No sunshine here today.

ELMcg · 05/04/2021 09:30

@cafeaulait27 @smurf123 it's so funny the strange symptoms we get isn't it? Before I was ever pregnant I though sickness was the only thing to worry about but it's everything else that comes with it! My boobs were agony yesterday, I've had heartburn for over a week now too. My nausea is very on and off but I expect it to be week 7 before that properly kicks in as was the case last time! I was just saying to my OH that this stage of pregnancy is super lonely, no appointments yet, can't tell anyone but feel rubbish!

Bellabubble · 05/04/2021 10:04

I have a congested nose too - I use sterimar as I suffer from sinus problems normally (it’s perfectly safe to use during pregnancy) it’s great! It’s a salt water spray that kinda washes out your nose

  • so you need to use it whilst holding a tissue under your nose, but I can’t recommend it enough!! It’s more gentle that nasal sprays, but is a bit more expensive than then too - so at the mo I just use it before bed and if I’m particularly bad in the morns (when I have a sinus infection I ise it multiple times throughout the day - but I’m pacing myswlf for the remaining 25weeks 😂)

Pancakes7 · 05/04/2021 10:14

It's funny the symptoms we all get. I'm 11 weeks today. Still feeling nauseous a lot and getting headaches. Sore boobs. I've got a gp phone call appointment tomorrow to get more of the 5mg folic acid. I think I'm going to ask for some anti sickness tablets too.

DS has been a bit unsettled and now woken up with a cold. Really stuffy nose bless him. It's a shame he's got nursery on Wednesday. I hope he's not too poorly. It makes him more emotional.

I hope you're all feeling better soon.

Hi,
I saw this thread and thought I'd join in
I hope you don't mind.
I somewhere between 6 and 9 weeks (very irregular periods) and have my booking appointment tomorrow. Based on my rough dates I'll be due anytime in November.
Interesting reading some of your comments about booking appointments as mine is in person at the surgery rather than over the phone.
Got a long list of concerns to talk through with them.
I'm mainly feeling nauseous 24/7.
It feels like a constant hangover with the fatigue and the headaches. I've had the last 2 weeks off work annual leave, I'm concerned how I'm gonna cope when i go back to work Wednesday.
I don't feel like I'm managing this 1st trimester very well at all.
The last 2 weeks have consisted of a lot of naps.
DH is being incredibly supportive though, i can't knock him at all x x

Pancakes7 · 05/04/2021 11:25

@Chocolatemintcake Welcome and congratulations! I think most of us have had an appointment over the phone to discuss everything then an appointment in person for bloods and urine test.

Will you be booking a private scan to see where you are in weeks? Or wait for the dating scan?

OP posts:
Chocolatemintcake · 05/04/2021 11:44

Thanks, i can't do the @ thingy. Ha! I'm on the app and it seems to be missing that feature.

I'm going to wait and see when i get booked in for my first scan with the NHS.
My LMP was actually 11 weeks ago, so depends on what dates they go on when booking my scan to be honest. (I know i can't be that far gone, cos hubby went away during and didn't come back until 4 weeks after it started).
If i have to wait about 6 weeks for a scan, I'll go private to get a date and some reassurance sooner, the wait is driving me mad.

Tomorrow feels like my first mini mile stone, I'm hoping seeing a midwife makes the pregnancy a bit more real. I feel like a fraud at the moment.

I've only known 3 weeks and it's felt like a lifetime. Hoping easing of lockdown and some normality mashes things drag less x x

marplemead · 05/04/2021 12:40

@Chocolatemintcake Congratulations and welcome! I was signed off for most of the 1st trimester, as have an active job and just couldn't cope. They will go by your LMP when booking your dating scan, but sounds like it might be too early for the screening, so they will probably get you back for another scan if that's something you want.

@Bellabubble Thank you!! I have some sterimar from when I had a sinus infection, so will try it. It's amazing stuff.

Pancakes7 · 05/04/2021 12:51

@Chocolatemintcake I use the app too. You just type the @ symbol and peoples names pop up or you can type them in.

Oh maybe you'll get a scan in the next couple of weeks then. It'll be good for you to know the weeks. My dating scan is next week. I can't wait!!

lamby12 · 05/04/2021 15:59

Hi ladies sorry to hear about your colds, I have one too from DD at nursery - haven't used it yet but I can also recommend sterimar, I think it's just salt water and I find it better than all the other nasal things anyway.

Mine is my throat at the moment so I'm getting out the honey and lemon.

Been feeling really sick the past week, I'm 7+3 now and I don't remember it being this bad with DD. Yesterday evening and this morning I actually didn't feel sick and enjoyed my food, started to worry about sudden lack of sickness and then nearly threw up in the shower half an hour later and had my head over the toilet mid morning. It's weird how it comes on so suddenly isn't it?!

I'm not sure if it's lockdown and not doing much for ages but I have no idea how I functioned last time, maybe it's the difference of having a toddler this time round you forget the relentlessness of the first trimester, probably made a difference last time that I could just lie down basically any time I wasn't working. I now only work part time from home but those days are easier than days with DD, I literally can't imagine taking her out anywhere at the moment I'm feeling so rough, can just about manage the basics and then logging in for work from home. With DD I was working in a role travelling round the country delivering talks and training and I did it all.... how?!?!?!

marplemead · 05/04/2021 16:14

@lamby12 I've been wondering the same! When I was pregnant with DD, I had a really full-on FT job leading a team and doing lots of travelling. I was very sick in early pregnancy, but things did improve in the 2nd trimester, and I do remember feeling quite normal until I got heavy. I'm hoping it's the same this time, as I really want to enjoy the summer with DD, and stay active before baby arrives.

Pancakes7 · 05/04/2021 16:23

@lamby12 I definitely agree it's much easier the first time round when you can just lie down when you feel rough. Currently have my DS climbing over me. I'm dreading having to work and look after DS from Wednesday. I'm the same though I worked full time right up until about three weeks before I had the DS Even with really bad PGP. Really hoping I don't get that this time!

OP posts:
imisscoffee · 05/04/2021 17:24

I agree, first time round I worked full time as a barista so on my feet all day, but I could just come home and nap. Man, I miss naps. 2nd time around i fell pregnant when DD was 12 weeks old so pregnancy while looking after a small baby was hard, but I'd nap when she napped (I've got fond memories of spending every afternoon napping with her) but 3/4th time, much older and fatter, working full time and having to do school runs and keep 5&6 year olds amused has been intense.

HereWeGoooo · 06/04/2021 08:22

I'm already saying 'maybe one child would be more than enough!' because I can't imagine doing this again with a young child to look after haha! So I admire you lot doing this who already have children. I also hate being out of control of my body. I thought I'd love being pregnant (maybe second trimester will be great!?) but I'm more squeamish than I thought I'd be and the worry is exhausting!

lamby12 · 06/04/2021 08:37

I don't think I quite bargained for what pregnancy would be like with a toddler, though I keep reminding myself it's only temporary!
I only had sickness for the first trimester last time and I felt great in the second trimester. Third trimester PGP kicked in and I couldn't do much but I still felt better than the first, minus the last few weeks.

I totally agree it's the being out of control of your body that I hate, not knowing what symptoms are going to get you and when. My sickness is coming on suddenly now like I'll be mid sentence then have to wretch over the sink.

However none of this is anything compared to new baby tiredness! I'm already mentally preparing for that with a toddler... all that sleep when the baby's sleeping stuff, we had no idea how easy it was first time round!

I'm 7+4 now, I've stopped logging symptoms in my Flo app every single day...! As I'm forgetting so that's good, I'm hoping time is feeling like it's moving a little faster now. X
