Hi all, just catching up on everyone's updates.

Unfortunately my follow up scan for the placenta showed complete placenta previa, with almost no chance of it moving. Csection is being booked in for 38 weeks, unless I have bleeding before that and that might change it. For now no bleeding at all which is great, have had steroid injections just in case. I'm 31 and a bit weeks now, so basically on a 6 week countdown. Disappointed to be facing a third csection, and that prolonged recovery, and all hopes of ever having a natural birth dashed, but there's nothing I can do about it!

MrsTD88 · 03/09/2021 09:31

@Garman oh no that must be so frustrating for you. Hopefully no bleeding and you can carry on to 38 weeks. Do you have lots of support at home for your recovery?

Garman · 03/09/2021 09:44

@MrsTD88 not really, dh can't take any time off, inlaws are useless, my mum will help but lives a few hours away and only ever comes to stay for 2 days max at a time. I have a very good friend who will do as much as she can, but she works and has 2 small kids herself so I am realistic about that! Dh can do school drop off for a few weeks and I'll do pick up as soon as I can, probably after 2 weeks, will have to figure it out in between!

MrsTD88 · 03/09/2021 10:09

@Garman so sorry you won't have much support. I can understand your concerns, having had a section before I know how hard the recovery can be. How old are your kids? Are they at an age where they can help out with little things?

Garman · 03/09/2021 12:46

Yeah they're 6 and nearly 4, they're great at understanding that I'm tired/sore/sick now so they will probably be great they're obviously just still intense when all stuck in the house, and need constant snacks! 😂

MrsTD88 · 03/09/2021 17:18

@Garman ah that's good ages. My daughter is 5 and all about the snacks too! We're in Scotland so she's been at school a few weeks now which has been amazing, especially now I've finished work! 😀

vitaminb33 · 10/09/2021 15:49

Just catching up again!

Sorry to hear you won't get your preferred birth @Garman, fingers crossed everything else goes smoothly. ❤️

@MrsTD88 you're getting so close! That's so exciting, hope everything's going okay.

I've had a bit of a rough week, ended up hospitalised for a few days as I was having some cramps, went into the day assessment unit and got a positive result on the preterm labour test they do (fetal fibronectin) - they said it could go either way but because I'm 32 weeks had to stay while they gave me steroids/meds to stop the cramps etc. Not a fan of staying in hospital but luckily everything went okay and have been discharged home, just told to take it easy and that I might have to go back in if symptoms start up again 😅 tiny bit stressful! Hopefully she stays put for now.

Bellabubble · 10/09/2021 16:46

@vitaminb33 Stressful times!! fingers crossed she stays put for you!!

I’m due in about 16days - but keep telling myself that it could go to 30days so that the days over my due date don’t seem so long! Currently have very puffy feet - like the people in Wall-e who float around in the spaceship chairs! I usually have very narrow, bony feet and you can often see the veins (sorry if you aren’t a foot person lol - I’m not purely because my own feet are not pretty feet lol!) so I’m hoping that’s a sign I won’t go too overdue! I have some clary sage to crack open at 40weeks so we’ll see if what they say is true about that essential oil 😂

I have spoken to my midwife as I also get flashy streaks in my vision sometimes but there’s no protein in my wee, and my bp is always spot on and baby moves away like he or she is at a rave - so they aren’t worried about preeclampsia!

Upping the hypnobirthing tracks to help me prepare for what labour might throw at me (as much as you can) and drinking raspberry leaf tea too 😂

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Bellabubble · 21/09/2021 12:23

@MrsTD88 not sire if I have timed it right, but I had a feeling your c-section is around this week! Good luck :)

I’m 39+3 and die a growth scan tomorrow as my bump hasn’t grown (I was always just over a cm behind the week of pregnancy, but last week I got classed as static growth as it was 35cms still and I was meant to be 38) The midwife wasn’t overly concerned as the heartbeat was nice and strong and bubba has been moving away - I just hope that there is some growth since week 36 or else they might induce me, and I’d rather not be induced!

MrsTD88 · 21/09/2021 15:42

@Bellabubble that's so nice you remembered! I had my c-section yesterday, home now and slowly recovering. Our little girl was 6lb 15oz and our growth scans had predicted around 8&1/2 lb so they were way off. Try not to worry, good luck with your scan. I'm sure all will be absolutely fine X

Bellabubble · 21/09/2021 15:48

@MrsTD88 ahh yay congratulations!! Take it as easy as you can (I know that’s easier said than done!!) On the hypnobirthing course I did, they said the third trimester growth scans can be off either way bu 10-15% - so I’m not sure mine will be particularly accurate as the midwife said his or her head was pretty low in my pelvis - which I can definitely tell as sitting is not very comfortable at all haha!! Am hoping I don’t have to go another 2 weeks though - I just want to meet him or her now!!

MrsTD88 · 21/09/2021 16:06

@Bellabubble I know, my husband has ordered me to do nothing and leave him to it... so difficult though! I couldn't believe it when they told me her weight and how off the scans had been. Just goes to show they're not that reliable. Hopefully everything is fine and baby is settled in there nicely.

Firevie · 23/09/2021 05:38

@MrsTD88 ah congratulations! First baby in this group I think! Hope you’re settling in nicely. Enjoy those first baby cuddles!
@Bellabubble hope your scan went well yesterday? I’m 37weeks today. Whoop! Can’t believe it is almost show time xxx

Garman · 23/09/2021 07:28

Just catching up on everyone's posts, congratulations @MrsTD88 🙂

I ended up having my first placenta previa related small bleed at exactly 33 weeks, was admitted for one night for observation then let home. Exactly a week later I had a slightly bigger bleed and was admitted until the birth, with the aim being 38 weeks.

Unfortunately the next day at 34+1 I had 2 big bleeds, and the decision to do csection was made. Baby girl born yesterday at 34+2 and is doing great thankfully 😊 Surgery went fine, I didn't lose much blood, and am recovering as normal. She was 6lbs 2ozs, is in scbu on cpap for now but doing well 🤞 Can't believe it worked out so well when the prospect of serious bleeding for me and complications for her were very real at 34 weeks.

Firevie · 23/09/2021 07:49

@Garman oh wow you’ve had some eventful weeks! But congrats on the arrival of your healthy baby girl! Yay to the 2nd baby in our group!! Hope it all goes well and that you can take her home soon! Xxx

Garman · 23/09/2021 07:58

Thank you, can't believe it's a girl, totally thought it'd be a third ds!

Hoping she'll be home in 2 weeks at most 🤞

Bellabubble · 23/09/2021 12:23

@Garman congratulations! Hopefully she’ll be home soon 🤞🏻

Scan went well - they have estimated baby is 7lbs 12 but I know they can be pretty out - especially by the end! But they said the placenta and fluid was all good, baby is very low in pelvis and the hesrtbeat was strong, so they are happy to let me keep going until 42weeks - so I shall finally get to meet my bubba in 17days at the latest ☺️

MrsTD88 · 24/09/2021 04:27

@Firevie thank you 😊 so close for you!

@Garman congratulations. That must have been so scary for you. I hope your little one is out of scbu soon.

@Bellabubble glad to hear all went well at your scan. So good to have an end date in sight.

Garman · 24/09/2021 13:31

She's transferred to a neonatal unit in another hospital in the nearest city, because her lung partially collapsed this morning. Dh gone with her day. Hoping she improves very soon.

MrsTD88 · 25/09/2021 10:41

@Garman Oh I'm so sorry that must be really tough. Will you be able to join her soon?

Garman · 25/09/2021 12:48

I was discharged today so came straight in to see her. She's doing great thankfully.

MrsTD88 · 25/09/2021 16:32

@Garman so pleased to her you're with her now and she's doing well X

Bellabubble · 25/09/2021 16:42

@Garman so good to hear she is doing well - sending lots of positive thoughts your way! Look after yourself too xx

vitaminb33 · 26/09/2021 11:35

Just catching up! Had some scares but baby has stayed put for now. Congratulations @MrsTD88 and @Garman!!

@Garman so sorry it's been a rough arrival but so great you're both doing well, sending all my love to you both 🎉😊
