I WANT YOUR CHILDCARE!!!!

Both girls are fast asleep now, and I am so so happy because DD1 dropped the dummy last night and hasnt asked for it at all tonight, and gone to bed no problem! It was obviously the right time! There is no way this baby is having a dummy, I just cant face the thought of it still being here in 3yrs time!

DH and my dad are taking the girls swimming in the morning, so I can have a relax here and do nothing for a good hour or 2, will probably try and catch up on some sleep, im shattered!!!

Jarm - glad you enjoyed your "lunch"! It's funny how much more stressed you can feel when you have DCs with you isn't it.

Sam - Yeah labour hurts and i sometimes get scared of the pain too, when i stop to have a think about it. But like Jarm has said, it's one of those things that you simply just cope with, either with or without pain relief etc. You'll be fine, dont worry. As soon as your bundle is in your arms, you'll think "pain? what pain? Oh yeah, i vaguely remember it!".

Fiona - Yay!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!! Cant wait for your birth story and pictures!

LOM - Deffo invest in one, they're such a godsend! I couldn't find one anywhere in the shops tho (well, i looked in Sainsburys and M&S) so i ended up ordering mine online. Hope you're feeling better now after your dizzy spell! I bet it was worth it just for the free choc!!

Loopy - What's an infamous third labour??

Well i went off to Asda this afternoon eventually and decided to do a big shop. I was pushing the heavy trolley round in the hope that it might start something off. So far all i have is an achey lower bump and a slight backache. Think i'll still be pg in the morning

DP bought some underlay for the baby's room tonight and is currently laying that so the room is almost almost done. The only things needed for the room now, apart from the carpet which is currently rolled up in our room, is a little chest of drawers and a picture or two to hang up (and maybe a better pair of curtains!) and then that's it!! Yay!!!

haven't been able to caught up on here for a few days, have been having a crap time see here

jetgirl · 23/11/2007 21:57

haven't read anything yet, only just got computer back - 3 weeks without mumsnet was hard!!!

Anyway, after keeping me waiting 9 days past the due date William Robert arrived on Tuesday 20th Nov. Labour was pretty good, 16 hours start to finish (quicker than my previous one), and I was fairly active for most of it, only when my waters broke was I confined to a bed as there was meconium present, but William arrived within the hour. I saw him being born, which was incredible as I didn't get that with my DD, and both me and DH cried. My midwife delivered him, which made it even more special.

going to spend some time catching up now xx

RGPargy · 23/11/2007 22:13

Sparkly - sorry you have been having trouble with Callum's weight gain still. No advice i'm afraid, but big hugs. x

Congrats JetGirl!

Well as you can see its silly o clock in the morning... and im wide awake.

DD1 woke up at 2.15am and refused to go back to bed, she is now asleep on the sofa, and Ive got no where to sleep because she woke DD2 who is in bed with DH! I cant fit in her toddler bed that is here at dads so im on here instead.... roll on about 6.30am when I can go back to bed and DH or my dad can take over! One thing to be thankful for is that she still hasnt asked for the dreaded dummy so thats a bonus!

I have had the most uncomfortable lower back pain tonight anyway - think my stomp around town was maybe a little aventurous!

Did some baby sniffing earlier though, went out and saw my friend who had a baby girl 8 weeks ago, and she too has been struggling with getting feeding/weight gain sorted, so despite being 7lbs 8oz born, she is still only 7lbs 11oz now..... and she is just oh so cute! Really got me in the mood for this little boy to arrive - not that I think thats going to happen anytime soon!

Hope you are all safely tucked up in bed, or even maybe in labour, will check in later when hopefully Ive had a little more sleep!

Morning everyone!
film was good last night tho those seats arent made for sore backs and big bumps!now 40wks +1 ! didnt think would see this day still pg but here i am with no signs still whatsoever! tho it feels like shes trying to dig her way out right now!

jarm sorry bout your bad night- hope you are all tucked up now gettin some shut eye! good bout the dummy tho! ive always imagined it would be torture getting dc off them!

LOM- think i might have to pretend im feelin faint to get some chocolate! dp still hasnt produced the doughnuts!(he decided he cant go to asda without me lol)!its a horrible feeling isnt it? hate it!!

loopy hope you enjoy your day today! am gonna have to look up a barnados round here for next year!

rgpargy- aww youll have to put pic up of finished room! sure it will be gorgeous! ive loved doing her room its my fave in the house now, all nice and pink (if she turns out to be a boy we are stuffed haha!)! n good to see someones dp/dh can do stuff like lay a carpet! my dad had to do most of ours!

thanx for your advice on labour(tho i was hoping you'd all say "its not that bad")! am really scared but at the same time excited, i guess everyones like that first time?

hope your all having a good day! think i might invest in a potato ricer!x

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 11:13

Morning Sam!

Glad you enjoyed the film last night. I think cinema seats aren't very comfy at the best of times, let alone when you're 9 months pg! Hope you stocked up on the pick n' mix to make up for it!

Cant believe your DP didn't get donuts for you!! Dont think i'd ever forgive mine if he went out for donuts and came back with NONE!!

The room is starting to look absolutely gorgeous. It's all magnolia and cream and is looking very tasteful! We bought a lamp shade for the ceiling light last night and a little lamp to go on the chest of drawers we're going to buy tomorrow. The lamp shade really makes a nice touch, it's lovely! We thought we'd keep the room very contemporary while we could because guaranteed once LO starts to get her own taste, her room will become a haven to all things pink and cartoon-like lol.

Labour it scarey the first time and the second time too (i'm quite nervous about it too!) so you are not the first person to feel nervous by it.

Oh and deffo get a potato ricer!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 24/11/2007 12:21

big Congrats Jet and The Lady. I'm looking forward to pics

Jarm - Sorry you had a pants night. Sounds like a case of musical beds in your house. I didn't get to sleep till 4 and feel like poo but at least I don't have any other kids to deal with. Dunno how you do it.

Sam glad you enjoyed the film buy V unimpressed with lack of donuts

I spent most of the night feeling sick, having ' digestive discomfort' and with cramps. I'm really starting to have a hard time with feeling so ill. I've been nigiling on and off for 3 weeks now and I'm at a loss as to what to do with myself.I expected to feel tired and stiff etc but It didn't occurr to me that I'd feel this ill.

We've been invited out to not one , but TWO birthday parties tonight ( after a significant social drought I might add ) so I'm going to try and gather myself to go out. that said, an evening inform of the fore and the X Factor is astonishingly tempting.

RG - The room sounds gorgeous. Well done As for labour being scary: well it doesn't matter for me c'os I'm not having a baby - I'm just going to feel fat and shitty forever.

Soz not at my most postitive today

littleoldme · 24/11/2007 12:23

inform of the fore !!! WTF am I on about. It's c'os I have to type at weird angle c'os I can't fit behind the desk properly LOL. I meant - infront of the fire. DOH

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 13:03

LOM - sorry you are STILL feeling ill. I've had a couple of period type aches this morning but not sure if it's coz i may need a poo lol.

I'd deffo make the most of going to two parties tonight! You'll have plenty of time to sit "inform of the fore" () when the LO comes along!

DP is laying the carpet in the baby's room today but he has to go to work tonight (boo!) so hopefully he'll get most of it done before he goes.

Have fun keeping the worms company!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 24/11/2007 13:13

Have decided that I'll probably give party one a miss as it's in town and I really CBA. Party no 2 is just round the corner though so I'll make that. I will spend the intervening time sitting inform of the fore

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 14:14

Ah fair enough! Sounds like a grand idea!

OP posts:
aikigypsy · 24/11/2007 14:27

Congratulations Fiona, Jetgirl, and the Lady! Look what happens when I don't sign in for a couple of days.

I went in for another NST yesterday, and all looks well & happy in there, but it's EDD+14, and I'm getting antsy, as are the midwives etc. I'm booked for an induction tomorrow night, but I've been having on-and-off contractions since November 8th! It's ridiculous! When I was on the monitor yesterday the MW said that the tracings looked like I was in labour. The verdict is that my LO is just too comfortable in there.

Hoping things step up today. I'm going to take a hike and stimulate some acupressure points and get the nipples going and so forth.

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 14:29

Good luck Aiki!! It must be SOOOO frustrating for you!!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 24/11/2007 14:59

All the best aiki. Have you considered serving your LO with an eviction notice. If you've been having contractions for such a long time hopefully everything will be well warmed up and ready to go. Lots of labour vibes.
What is NST ?

JARM · 24/11/2007 16:02

Good luck Aiki!

Well my night didnt get much better unfortunately.... DD1 woke up from the sofa at 4.30am and woke the whole house, so we have all been suffering with sleep deprivation. Managed to get another hour or so at about 6.30am and then decided I had to get out so took dad to asda for some shopping.

Had lunch and then DH was a darling and took the girls home for a bit, left me at dads to go to bed in peace. So I am just up having slept from 1.30pm! He is coming to pick me up again now though!

Quock easy pizza and garlic bread for tea tonight, cant be bothered with much else, so that and x-factor here... with the possibility of an early night with DH but I think i will put money on sleep rather than sex happening!

Hope the rest of you are all ok, LOM - I still feel pants too - I just dont think these babies understand that it will be better OUT of the womb... i know its cold outside but jeez, its not THAT bad!!!

sam86 · 24/11/2007 16:55

jarm after how cold it was when we came out the pics last night am not suprised they are staying put in the nice warm 37degree body heat!!

think its a night with x factor tonight for me too (despite saying id boycot it after ghostt were knocked out- av liked them for ages! was so excited they got on!)inform of the fore (i think that sounds much better littleoldme!)!! LOM you sound like youve had horrible couple of weeks - have you had sickness throughout? hopefully not much longer to go now (though will be replaced with even less sleep than now- but we are prob all used to that now with the constant toilet trips etc!)

not much longer to go now aiki- i know ive been moaning about not having experienced a single BH but dont think i could handle contractions for that long!i think il go mad if i reach edd +14! (at this rate prob reach edd +365!) hope things have picked up a bit now.

rgpargy- am afraid am into pink too much so had to make it pink straight away!! the room sounds gorgeous! these babies dont know how lucky they are already! again am v impressed with your DHs skills- could not trust mine to lay carpet (fences yes, carpets etc no lol). oh an got the doughnuts today! yum! -but the sounded so much nicer when you were all having them! and he got me rolos which i havent been able to find anywhere so will let him off! were do you get these elusive potato ricers from?! i want one! makes me feel better that we are both nervous! though i agree with LOM and think il just be fat forever!

so typical- last night was first time ive gone out in evening for AGES and the empty house opposite mine went on fire (wasnt too serious luckily)- so i missed the firemen! the one night i go out... might have to order londons burning dvd to get a fix to make up for it !! though when they came to fit the fire alarms last month they sent women and an old man- wasnt very happy bout that either! may well complain! (plus i went the carwash purely because it was a charity one at fire station- and it was just teenagers for the princes trust - false advertising! dp was laughing his head off) x

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 17:55

Evening all.

Jarm - Glad you managed to have a bit more shut eye in the end. Talk about prepping you for when LO comes! I couldn't be bothered with much for dinner either so we just had pasta.

Sam - lol @ pink fetish. DH has managed to finish laying the carpet and has also vowed to NEVER lay carpet again!! It does look good tho, so at least he got it right. Donuts and rolos sound yum. Were they giant rolos or normal ones? I love giant buttons and giant rolos - bigger the better!! Oh and i had to buy my potato ricer online in the end from cookware-online.co.uk or somewhere like that. If you put potato ricer in google, you'll find loads of shops.

What a swizz re your fireman thing. How inconsiderate of your neighbours to have their house catch fire when you were out!! haha!!

Well i woke up this morning and all day i've not felt "right" IYSWIM. I've had a couple of period-type aches but they've not amounted to anything. Had a couple more whilst eating dinner a bit earlier but then went to the loo and decided to have ice cream and now all is well again. Maybe it was my body's way of telling me to eat ice cream?!

I hope nothing does progress because i've just sent DP out to work and he wont be back now til about 12 or 1am and it'll take him about 40 minutes to get home again.

I'll let you all know if something happens, but in the meantime, it's x-factor for me tonight!

Hi all, lost the thread.

We have had probs with weight loss. Ended up being referred to bf expert. latch was fine, positioning not!!!!! V common in 2nd babies apparently so those of you with second babies who have successfully bfed before- watch your position. don't hold your baby the same way you would hold an older baby

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 18:02

Sorry to hear that Pixie. Are you all sorted now? I didn't get the hang of BFing with DS but am determined to make it work this time!
