Thanks for all the advice last night everyone. Once I relaxed about it LO had his usual mad half hour. It is perfectly possible I was being a tad neurotic.

Jarm - I hope you have a really gossipy and enjoyable lunch. As for the hormotional stuff - well it's pants when you feel like that but just c'os you feel something it doesn't mean it's true.
Any news on how your lazy 'do you want fries with that' cousin in getting on ?

Cape - Excellent news that your LO is engaging. I think that shows can vary. I know my sis just had a bit of bleeding then a few hours later was in full blown labour.
Your DH sounds like a sweetie.

I feel quite guilty as I've been sleeping really well lately. I've only had to get up once or twice in the night and I always snooze for at least an hour in the day. I've always been very good at napping. Something that will helpful when LO arrives no doubt.

RG - If you are off to asda why don't you have a go at Nigella's icecream cake thing with butterscotch sauce. Look yummy and is full of calcium. Don't tell me you aren't tempted.

Mini - Hope all is going well .

Hope we all have lovely day.

RGPargy · 23/11/2007 10:45

Sam - i know what you mean about shouting at the dog lol. I sometimes get fed up with one of my cats who demands my attention by thrusting her face in mine and then taps my face with her paws to get my attention too - all whilst dribbling all over me - so i quite often shout at her to get off, bless her. I do feel guilty afterwards but she can be a bit of a pain if you so much as look at her in a "i might stroke you" way lol.

Cant believe you went through with the pineapple thing, even tho you know it's horrible and we warned you it wouldn't work! You must be desperate!!

Am beginning to agree with you about the sex in the last few weeks "fact" being invented by a man. Last night's "early night" has yet again had no affect on me either. Bugger!!

Unfortunately, my Asda doesn't do clothes (although they are finally doing them next year i've heard) so no baby buying for me today. I might get donuts as well as mini flapjacks tho. How dangerous am i?!!

LOM - Glad your LO got jiggly in the end. A pg lady being neurotic? At almost full term?? hmmmm not sure that's right?!!!

Ooo i saw the ice cream cake recipe and yes it does look lush. I was thinking about having a go at a malteser cake that's in another book of hers instead. DP's mate has lent me his Nigella's feasts book and also a Jamie Oliver book. Cant say i rate either of them as highly as Nigella's "express" book, mind you, as they're mainly for parties and such like so no good for a quick meal really. Hmmm in fact, think i'll review the ice cream cake actually......

sam86 · 23/11/2007 10:52

mmmmmmm make sure u send some ice cream cake this way!! am gettin jealous! fapjacks and donuts!! argh am jealous! might have to phone dp and update him on what he should be buying haha!! may as well live dangerously now were at the end!

i sometimes wish our asda didnt sell clothes as think my shopping bill would be half what it is if they didnt ! seem to spend more on clothes than actual food!

is this heartburn and hairy baby thing true? am very paranoid about having a hairy baby (dont know why it seems to be a fear of mine!) and am have had horrible heartburn since i was about 5 /6 months (never had it before in my life!)!!

the sex thing is definitley made up by a man! plus i cant even enjoy it as much coz am constantly thinking that it might bring baby on and worrying about waters breaking on him! lol!

cape- we are both due today!! did midwife say it doesnt matter that babys bum still in ribs at this point then and they can still be engaged?? i am quite short so maybe thats why ! x

RGPargy · 23/11/2007 11:00

Sam - i'm deffo making the most of being at the end of my pg. When the baby comes i will be watching what i eat and will feel guilty about eating anything nice!!

Think the heartburn/hairy baby thing is a complete myth. Dont worry about it!!

haha just seen corrie clip on this morning- jim macdonald (i think thts who it is) hasnt half put weight on and a tan seeing as hes been in prison lol. saying that, wouldnt suprise me if they did have sun beds in prison ....

i was gonna ask when you are due but decided not to be lazy and checked the list instead!! not long to go!! think you will be before me anyway! we are settling on the 28th now, think she will turn up then or maybe the 30th as its tradition to be late and on a friday in my family! dp is stopping work monday so more than likely shell come monday so he wont get any lie ins! x

sam86 · 23/11/2007 11:11

loopy- same here! took all my will to do stir fry last night and then the mythical pineapples! lasagne tonight but its a ready made one from asda lol so cant be bothered cooking either!

oooooooo i hope mini has gone into labour!! am gettin dead excited for everyone ! (and a bit jealous too!!!)

RGPargy · 23/11/2007 11:36

Jarm - yes, i was wondering how lazy cousin was getting on too.

Loopy - I have also lost the will to cook, but i need to do another batch of lasagne because we ate our post-birth batch the other night Might do a shepherds pie for tea tonight actually, especially as i've got my new pototoe ricer and wont have to use any muscles for mashing!!

Mini - good luck, hope everything is going well!

JARM · 23/11/2007 11:43

Lazy arse cousin update - had his induction earlier this week, first proper shift tomorrow, although we have been trying to get him out of bed for the last hour because he has a phone message here at my dads about another job - its for Trinity House (they have 2 boats that service lighthouses or something) and they are looking for apprentice chefs to work on board the boats, 4 positions available, 3 weeks on 3 weeks off and pay is like £13k a year! But of course, the lazy shit is still in bed and no amount of knocking is waking him up! Aunt doesnt have a landline in yet and lazy arse cousin broke his mobile in a temper so we have no way of getting hold of him.

DH has gone to shops with DD1 to get stuff for tea tonight - wonder what delights I will be served! Am off to meet friends for lunch, and am very excited, its been a while since I had a grown up lunch and not had to worry about places being kid friendly.... or keeping an eye on 2 toddlers causing havoc!

Sex thing - must be a man, although I cant see the attraction with having sex with a bloater! Well thats what I tell DH anyway! Can totally relate to the not being in the throws of passion and using DH as a sperm donor to try and get things moving!

littleoldme · 23/11/2007 12:36

Sam - Glad I'm not theonly one who CBA ( can't be arsed) with cooking. We are still working our way through a massive bean stew I made about 3 days ago. I'm feeling far too sick to do anything mildly advenurous.

Jarm - re your LAC. I think you've done everything you can do on that front. Perhaps missing out on good opporunity will give him the boot he needs. LOL about him being induced in Mc Donalds I didn't know they provided antenatal care.

Loopy - Can I suggest some pasta, campbells mushroom soup, peas, sweetcorn and some fried onions if you can be bothered. Chuck cheese on the top, bung it in the oven and everyone will think you've spent ages cooking and making tasty sauce. It'll take you 10 mins and be most tasty.
I guess I am allowed to be neurotic - the first of many things i'm sure.

Rg - Potato ricer. I don't have one but like the idea. Useful implement or unecessary utensil? whaddya reckon?

sarahloumadam · 23/11/2007 12:37

Hello all - things are starting to move here! Well they are heading in the right direction. Lots of period type pains yesterday evening which then evolved into contractions by 1pm - every 5/6 mins at one point! But their timing was all over the place and when I had a bath at 3.30pm they stopped all together. Had a hour or two this morning again where they were coming every ten minutes and a show but now they have stopped again. Tens machine is fabulous I highly recommend it! DH took the day off because he hardly got any sleep and we have been watching TV and snoozing. Going to have some lunch now. Hope you are all ok x

RGPargy · 23/11/2007 12:37

Jarm - After knocking for at least 3 times and him not moving or only grunting and not getting up, i find a cup of cold water straight over his head should do the trick. I feckin' HATE lazy teenagers!!!!!!

Sex thing - DP thinks i am sexy when i am heavily pg. I think he must be on drugs.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 23/11/2007 12:41

LOM - Potato ricer is DEFFO an unnecessary utensil but the only brilliant masher i had broke so it's either smooth mash with this gadget or lump mash with a stupid plastic masher thing that's rubbish. I must admit that when i used the ricer last time, it was LOVELY to not have to quickly swallow the lumps in the mash because there were NONE!!! Sorry but lumpy mash makes me gag!

Sarah - Yay!!! Keep us posted!! How exciting!!!!

OP posts:
JARM · 23/11/2007 12:43

oooh good luck sarah!!! REST as much as you can though!

I really should start thinking about sorting my hair and makeup - cant go out looking like a 39+ lump of poo!

JARM · 23/11/2007 15:17

Im back!

Lunch was ace (well not that we ate or sat!) we had a good stomp around town, havent done that for so long, and for some reason, because I didnt have kids or DH with me, I didnt feel all that knackered doing it!

Am tired now I have sat down though, but am about to go and get my comfy trackies on and chill for 45 minutes, and then im off to pick up my dad from work.

Today is the first day in I dont know how long that I havent had a nap - and Ive been awake since 6.30am!

Loads of pressure down below right now... think the walking has made him move down even more!

sam86 · 23/11/2007 17:14

hey glad you had a good day jarm! was town packed? did you do any shopping?

sarah- definitley sounds like things are moving in the right direction! good luck, let us know whats happening!!are the contractions really painful?

those of you who have done it before- is labour as bad as think its gonna be? i go through stages of really wanting it to start and then panicking that if it does i wont be able to cope! i had food poisoning on the weekend and ended up crying coz i panicked thinking it was the beginning and i wouldnt be able to cope!! do you feel sick or is it just the pains? am such a wimp! x

sam86 · 23/11/2007 17:27

am off to finish tryin to clean house and put lasagne on! goin to see american gangster tonight, doubt il be gettin out the house much once lo makes appearance!! good luck for tonight everyone, hope things keep moving along!! x

JARM · 23/11/2007 17:32

sam - i will level with you, labour isnt called labour for nothing! It is hard work, but its weird because you know at the end of it, you have a worthwhile result.

With DD1, I was induced, contractions were so full on from the start (as they often are with induction) so I had an epidural - it was ACE! Managed to sleep through a lot of labour, but i was sick later on into labour with DD1 and got the shakes quite badly. As soon as she was born though, it was all forgotten and I had my baby girl.

With DD2, I had the worst contractions ever due to the fact DD2 was face presentation - she came out lips and nose first! I asked for the epidural but it didnt work, so managed only on gas and air with her, but it was a relatively short labour (7.5hrs start to finish) so wasnt too bad, and again, as soon as she was born, I was too loved up to care! Dont remember being sick with DD2 or shaking, but I did apparently poo myself! Quite common so I hear!

It does hurt, I wont lie, but if you arent coping, there are drugs to help.... and help they do!

Im planning as natural as possible this time, but if Im not coping, I have no hesitation in getting the epidural!!!

jarm - Really glad you had a good day out. It's always good to do something that makes you feel relatively normal again.

Fiona - Hurrah - more babies to sniff. Congratulations.

RG - may well invest in a potato ricer. I love mash but hate mashing.

sarah - Hope all continues to move along for you. Lots of love.

Sam - i fancy seeing American gangster but not sure I could sit still for a whole movie. let us know what it's like.
It's my first time so Idon;t know what labour will be like. i take the view that lots of people do it successfully so why shouldn't I. Also it'll be a few hours of my life, it won't last for ever!

Well earlier I decded to take a trip M and S. They have a food hall about 2 mins drive from us which can be fatal. I had a huge dizzy spell and the checkout and was convinced I was going to pass out. the Staff there were fab. They gave me a drink, some chocolate and stayed with me unitl my friend came to pick me up. Bless them- people can be so kind. AND I got a free bar of chocolate!

Loopy - I precook the pasta. I don't dilute the soup though, apart from maybe a dash of milk if it looks like there's not quite enough. I find the mushroom is best as the chicken can be too rich.

Another store cupboard fave is Covent Garden smoked haddock chowder with a couple of tins of new potatoes chucked in.

JARM · 23/11/2007 19:31

loopy - ditto re the "cant be that bad, 3 in 3yrs" same here!

My day was good, but paying for it now, am very sore and uncomfortable, and with you on the infamous 3rd labour vibe, exactly the same symptoms but come to nothing!

DH has just knackered his back as well, so probably best nothing does happen tonight!
