littleoldme · 28/10/2007 11:14

Seems I wasn't that awake. I went back to bed until about an hour ago. The best sleep I've had in ages.

Anna - It sad about Ed's foot but I am glad that is his only injury. When they had him mucking about on the rocks I thought he might get swept out to sea or something. It would be just his luck.

Choc - Sounds like you've got the therapy sorted. A day shopping sounds like just the job. It's good shoe shopping when you are pg as feet are about the only thing that stay normal size - well, swelling allowing obviously. Christmas shopping sounds terribly organised. Think DH will doing ours over the net. Hope the psoriasis eases.

Pixie - Poor old you. You sound proper fed up. I'm sending lots of labour inducing vibes over the ether.
I would avoid looking at the induction threads if it is just going wind you up. People will more readily share nasty stories over positive ones. Just think about holding your gorgeous bundle of perfect baby for the first time.

Pixiefish · 28/10/2007 11:15

I can't rememebr if I had this with dd but I was 5 days over with her. These pains might be perfectly normal in the last 2 weeks before baby is born

littleoldme · 28/10/2007 11:26

X posted- Choudru - It is open today so your waddling need not be in vain.

JARM · 28/10/2007 11:35

Morning!!

My kids were up at 5.15am!!!! So Im knackered!

We decided to hit the carboot sale and then over to my dads for a cuppa and chat.

Just home now - girls fell asleep in the car on the way back, but its only a 10 minute car trip so Ive been driving around town and up and down the sea front to let them sleep a bit longer so they last out tonight!

Freezing, wet and windy here today, so not even as if I can chuck the girls in the garden! Plan on sorting out the wardrobe in the nursery today as we have dumped a load of our old coats and things in there and forgotten about them! Need to go to Morrisons later to pick up some veg for tea tonight and then its another night of decorating! The gloss work in the hall is done now, so its just getting paint on walls in the hall, bathroom and toilet..... then I can start demolishing my room!

Hope you all have a relaxing sunday and plenty of rest. xxx

RGPargy · 28/10/2007 13:17

Morning everyone!

Firstly, i must apologise for me being all doom and gloom yesterday. I think my hormones were raging! Just as i'd got myself together for when DP came home, i ended up a blubbering snotty wreck all over his t-shirt! I think i was having a panic moment about how i'm going to cope with a new baby again after all these years and why on earth i'm putting myself through this again, especially the teenage years, when DS is driving me nuts and i'm going to be doing it all over again with a GIRL!! But then he swiftly reassured me and reminded me that this time i wouldn't be struggling on my own etc etc etc. Bless him, he's a real star.

LOM - Glad you caught up on some sleep. I've been sleeping loads lately! Just when i thought i was wide awake this morning at 7am, DP went off to work and i fell back to sleep until 12.45pm (new time)!! Perhaps my body needs to rest more than i thought?

Choc - Sorry to hear you're not getting many of those Zzzzs either. You must have more energy than you think if you can still go shopping for hours!

Pixie - Fingers crossed that something happens before your induction tomorrow. You never know! Go get jiggy with DP all day!

Choudru - sending you ++++ vibes that something happens soon for you. I cant believe how many of us are nearly at term now! It's really exciting! I predict by this time next weekend we'll have at least 3 more babies to stalk!

Jarm - Blimey, you were certainly up with the lark! It's really cold, wet and windy here too. Miserable when the weather's like that isn't it?

I'm going to pop to Asda in a sec to pick up a few bits and then i will relax on the sofa and watch the Stenders omnibus. I never watch it during the week and specifically save it for Sundays - been that way for years! So SSSHHHHHH!!! No one tell me what happens!!!

OP posts:
Easywriter · 28/10/2007 15:20

Hi ladies,

A very quick one as today I've worked up a cleaning frenzy that even JARM would be proud of!

We're all back up in the attic but for the last time as our decorator is back tomorrow to finish of the house.

I'm so jolly as we are now entirely free of plaster dust and I am about to go and wash baby clothes!!!!!!!

[hgr in]

By the way the film we saw yesterday was Ratatouille. (I only mentioned that I found it quite good entertainment as it seems to be taking a bit of a beating review wise doesn't it?)

DD's have just shown me the pumpkin they've carved with DP. It's bloomin' excellent! (They've created a masterpiece an I got 3hours to clean in (sounds like a bum deal but to me it was heaven!!).

silkcushion · 28/10/2007 15:21

lom and anna - I thought they were going to driwn Ed as well!

Choudru - thanks for the M n S advice have bought exact same thing as you and RG.

Another one of my NCT group has had their baby. She was due on the 8th but was induced on friday suddenly as she developed obstetric choleostasis (liver problems). Am envious of the baby but not the stress of emergency induction and what looks like possible emergancy c section.

Slept loads last night. Have just given up on sharing a bed with Dh. SLeep in the spare room and get up 3/4 times per night still with wees and/or heartburn. But didn't actually wake until 10am (new time)- feel a bit more refreshed. Need to get to Tesco before it shuts - catch you later.

Pixie - best of luck for the morning - will be thinking of you.

Pixiefish · 28/10/2007 16:14

thanks for all your best wishes. have been out all afternoon with dh winding me up.

Apparently he's going to be using my car while I'm in which I'm not happy about. At the moment he's got my old car which has got a smoking ban on it. I don't smoke and had kept the car smoke free, it's also for sale so I don't want it stinking of fags. The other day I noticed the tell tale ash marks on the windows and accused him. He denied it but I told him I'm not daft. Later on he said that he used to smoke in it all the time and I never noticed before. I have gone ape and really don't want him driving my new (to me) car. Plus he'll let dd eat in it and then there'll be crumbs everywhere plus he's a messy sod himself- I have warned him that my car better be pristine when I get out of hospital.

Sorry for the whinge.

In pain all day- like period pains but not as severe- just a dull throbbing

ChocolateHobnob · 28/10/2007 16:58

Pixie, maybe it'll all kick in before tomorrow and no induction necessary? It sounds like you're just about ready so it could happen like that.

Silk and LOM, am of your lie-in. Sleep is a forgotten pleasure! I wish I could just sleep a decent night once.

RG, an afternoon in front of telly isn't a bad idea at this stage! Sounds lovely in fact.

Easy, my brother liked Ratatouille too... I couldn't face sitting in the cinema at the mo!

Choudru, maybe I should invest in a girdle... Your pains sound a bit promising to me! I don't have any pain.

Thelady - mine's been relatively okay, but yesterday it got sooooo itchy and was v bad all night.

Well I went to the Metro centre, didn't buy boots, but did buy nursing bras. Interesting tip: Debenhams had a great stock, much better than John Lewis - they had the Freya ones I mentioned yesterday in all colour ways and much more choice than JL. Also they covered a massive range of sizes, from 30-something right up to 40-something with cup sizes up to H. And some of them were actually, shock, horror, nice. I wouldn't have thought of Debenhams but also it was 20% off all lingerie which is a decent discount on nursing bras...

Roasting a chicken for dinner - comfort food. Have got some colleagues coming round for lunch tomorrow. Otherwise have more freezer cooking to do, and just need to chill cos I'm absolutely shattered!!! Lack of sleep...

Have a good Sunday night everyone!

JARM · 28/10/2007 17:03

Hi guys

Sorry I havent been about much - have actually been in bed most of the afternoon

Didnt sleep at all well last night, and then with the girls being up early, I felt really rough! Have slept for 3hrs this afternoon though!

We have chicken for tea tonight too - veggies are in the oven at the moment. We did the chicken last night so this is my 2nd night of roast chicken, but it is such a comfort, especially when the weather is really crappy like today!

DD1 is back at nursery tomorrow so will have 2.5hrs of peace and quiet (well other than DD2 but she is easy!) which will be good - so thankful halfterm is over, its been a rough old week!

Havent got the wardrobe sorted yet, may do that tonight when the kids are in bed, or i might just go back to bed myself and TRY and get a decent nights sleep!

Take care all, and all the best for tomorrow Pixie - and tell DH to do as he is told!

littleoldme · 28/10/2007 17:33

Sounds like it really is chicken tonight.

Choc - I've had freay stuff before. It's great quality as I remember tends be rather pretty as well.

Pixie - Why does he have to use your car? Lock it and hide all the keys. Failing that, take something he likes and treat it in disrespectful way.
Hope labour kicks in before tomorrow. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.

Rg - Well done on the mega kip. That's amazing even by my standards.

It's domestic bliss in our house at the mo. Dh is painting the hall and I've been busy at the sewing machine. It's just like the Waltons.

My mat leave officially starts tomorrow as it's the first day of term.

Have a goodnight one and all.

silkcushion · 28/10/2007 18:01

Pixie - it sounds like yr body is gearing up for labour. So even if it doesn't start naturally it should respond really well to induction.

Re my previous post obviously I meant DROWN not DRIWN. (ust proof read)

Am also doing roast chicken tonight.

Pixiefish · 28/10/2007 18:39

re- the car- he loves my new car which is a Jeep Grand Cherokee as he is stuck driving my Vectra until he can sort himself out with a new car when I sell mine

choudru · 28/10/2007 19:05

No contractions for a while unfortunately sigh. Just general dull pain - sounds similar to your's Pixie. Good luck for tomorrow - can't wait to hear your news!

Easy - we took DS to see Ratatouille the other week and he loved it (but keeps referring to the mouse as a rabbit). I thought it was quite entertaining as well actually although my back was killing me by the end.

Silk - welcome to the cult of the girdle

DH has just cooked up a warm salmon pasta salad dish. Was scrummy - he's never really cooked much before but recently he seems to have discovered it. I'm not complaining and he's actually managing to keep the kitchen relatively clean!

Oh RG - poor you. Sounds like DP was a sweetie about it though. They might drive us up the wall but sometimes they actually do say the right thing! DO you feel better about it all now? Can't believe you were worrying ahead to when LO will be a teenager

Choc - thanks for the tip on Debenhams. When does the lingerie sale end do you know?

LOM - how did the sewing go? Glad to hear the hallway is getting sorted at last. See you tomorrow at 11:30, unless by some miracle this LO makes an appearance overnight.

Evening all...

Pixie - good luck for tomorrow - I can't wait to hear the good news of your new arrival!!!

I have been baby sniffing again today at our NCT meet up where EVERYONE else already has a baby ... It doesn't seem to be helping with encouraging my baby to arrive, but they were all SOOO beautiful! The parents did look a bit tired though...

I am sorry to hear about all the aches and pains, but hopefully they are good signs that babies are on the way...

Nothing much going on here but I am planning to try some accupuncture tomorrow in an attempt to encourage the LO to arrive on time

Hope everyone is doing well...

Pixiefish · 28/10/2007 20:45

Loopy - thanks for lifting my spirits- just being daft I know. Just want it done so I can get home to my darling little girl.

FCH- ta.

All pains have stopped now so doesn't look like I'll go naturally- could mean I'm already partly dilated I spose- will find out tomorrow.

Anyway if I don't get a chance- speak to you all real soon and I'll update as soon as I can.

Will be thinking of you all and hoping there's more news when I come out xxx

Hi Pixie

just to say good luck and dying to hear about the new arrival!

Hugs!

RGPargy · 28/10/2007 22:21

Evening all!

Easy - I trust that your attic has been converted and you're not sitting there in amongst the spiders and cobwebs?!! Glad you enjoyed the film and well done to DDs for making an excellent pumpkin!

Silk - Glad you found a way to get some decent sleep. It's so precious when we're this far gone isn't it!

Pixie - I hope DP doesn't end up smoking in your car!! How dare he!! Oh and there's nothing wrong with driving a Vectra! All the very best for tomorrow. Cant wait to hear your news - how exciting!

Choc - sounds like you had a lovely dinner! Cant beat a good roast chicken!

Jarm - sorry you've been feeling a bit pants lately. So glad you've finally been resting tho! About time too!

Choudru - i know i shouldn't be thinking as far ahead as teenage years but when you have one in the house already, it kinda makes you think about it lol. I'm sure it'll be fine tho coz it's a completely different situation this time around.

Loopy - i really must sort out nursing bras VERY soon. I keep shrugging it off thinking i'll be ok with normal ones but on hindsight i really dont think it will be ok and i dont want to go around with my norks out all day! BTW, what are taggies??

FCH - glad you're enjoying your baby sniffing. Dont worry, it wont be long before you can happily sniff away at your own!

Well, i've had a mammoth cook-off this evening. I started dinner at just before 6pm and we finally sat down to ate at 9pm!! I cant believe it took me three hours to cook bloody shepherds pie and cauli-broc cheese! I'm deffo going to be pre-cooking stuff rather than cooking from fresh all the time. It really wore me out!

I'm taking DS for his Health & Safety text tomorrow which means that if he passes (he'd bloody better!) he can finally get his CSCS card, which means he can work on the building sites or do proper jobs that recognise he has a bit of savvy around that sort of work.

Well, going off for a shower in a sec. Have a lovely sleep every one!

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 28/10/2007 22:33

Thanks girls, I have to be calm, and TBH I still feel but am aware that PND could kick in at any time (had it with all my other kids)

Callum is doing ok but seems unsecure at night, he cries as soon as I put in his crib, then when I pick him up he falls back to sleep, then cries again, this has resulted in co-sleeping, which I really don't want to do, as I panic every time I wake up and think I have suffercated (sp?) him.

jetgirl · 28/10/2007 22:49

Thank you all - feeling so much better today, it's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for you, and brilliantly DD slept for the extra hour too so we were all able to take advantage of it.

choudru - I know what you mean about little ones being able to push buttons, they seem to feed off stress sometimes and it just ends up being a vicious circle of stroppiness doesn't it? Anyway, DD and I 'made friends' again last night when I had to go and change her nappy and she insisted on me reading Goldilocks to her, but she fell asleep before the end of the first page. She looks just like an angel when she's asleep and I can never believe what a little monster she can be when she throws a tantrum. I am beginning to understand what the terrible twos means now . I didn't get a bath, but did some essential lady garden maintenance, so feel a bit more presentable for the birth now! On Sunday evenings I have a manicure ritual which helps relax me, and stops me eating copious amounts of chocolate while I wait for the nail varnish to dry

Pixie - lots of luck for tomorrow, we'll all be eagerly awaiting your news xx

Loopy - Like you I've bought the Christmas cards but have no intention of writing them yet, and I'm definitely going to combine them with birth announcements/thank you notes for any baby pressies - got to save money where possible! Very nearly bought Christmas cards that said 'Unto us a child is born', but thought some of the more religious relatives may be a little offended. Having said that my dad's a vicar and I think it would amuse him.

Chocolate - I know what you mean about shopping, I can wander around the shops for quite a while (obviously with the odd coffee and cake break) but spending the equivalent time on something like ironing really takes it out of me! The thought of finishing the Christmas shopping is what's spurring me on at the moment, then any money that I have left can be spent on me! Well, I think I'll deserve a post birth treat

Sparkly - sorry to hear Callum needed the tube again. Does he seem to be doing better in other ways though? You sound like a very cool and calm mummy, I'm sure I would be freaking by now!

If you get the chance to read the latest Eve magazine it has an amusing article about what it's like to be pregnant second time around. It really made me laugh, so much rang true, and there's a great bit at the end about avoiding lots of visitors in the first few days. I am going to leave it lying around for MIL to read when she visits next weekend .

Right off to bed for hopefuly another good night's sleep. Only had to get up once to wee last night, and three times to roll over. How sad is it that that constitutes a good night's sleep at the mo?!

silkcushion · 28/10/2007 23:16

Just a quick question - how can you write Christmas cards before we have the babies? Won't you be putting from you, DH, any other dcs and LO?

I thought about this the other day cos I wrote my niece's birthday card (11th Nov) and didn't know whether or not to write from babysilk as she might/might not be here.

superloopy · 29/10/2007 06:11

Hello all,
It's been a while since I last posted but lovley to see some of your babies are here already.
Now I'm just going to have a little whinge so bear with me.... Is anyone waking up with cramp in your legs? I am and I'm fed up. It is the crappiest way to wake up, suddenly in great pain and being unable to properly stretch out the cramp because you are not so bendy anymore!!!! I have been limping around all day after getting a killer cramp in my calf this morning.
I am also finding it really hard to sleep atm, insomnia has kicked in big time and when I do go to bed I'm so freakin' hot I can't sleep....
I just want my little boy to be here not only so I can cuddle and worship him but so I can start to sort my body out and have it back again, well apart from BFing. I miss sleeping on my tummy!!
End of whinge.....
Time for a cup of tea and a chocolate cookie!!

AnnainNZ · 29/10/2007 06:30

I was getting leg cramps earlier in the pg but haven't for the last few weeks. I have heard eating a banana before bed can help (potassium in it) and a friend of mine swears by a glass of tonic water before bed.

I htink mine got a lot better after I went on maternity leave and was no longer on my feet for a lot of the day as I was at work (not much use if you're on your feet all day with other kids)
