And I know what you mean about getting your body back. If I stay sitting or lying in the same position for too long my hips seize up or something. I'm hobbling around like a little old lady sometimes!

superloopy · 29/10/2007 06:41

Thanks for that Anna, I will hit the fruit bowl!!
I am also a champion hobbler, do you grunt like an old man when you sit down too?? Ooompfff!!
I am so glad I'm married and no longer have to try to impress or be polite around my DH anymore....

AnnainNZ · 29/10/2007 07:11

yeah I do grunt, especially when I have to sit up in bed from lying down. I have a horrible feeling I may be snoring too.

God, it's so romantic being pregnant!

littleoldme · 29/10/2007 08:32

Loopy - Thanks for reminding me about that site. A couple of people have suggested Royce bras so I'll think I'll give them a go. Glad your DDs had a good kip .

Jet - LOL about 'Unto us a child is born'. I think you should buy at least two packs.

Super- I really feel for you with the cramp. I've only woken up with twice and it was absolutely excruciating. I've had cravings for milk and both times I've had it was when we'd run out. I'm sure I read that it is exacerbated by lack of calcium. It must be starting get really warm down there now... not long to go.

Pixie - Thinking of you - hugs

JARM · 29/10/2007 08:35

Morning all!

Well I am on orders to stay in bed until DH gets time to run me a bath, so I could be in for a long wait!

Not much to do today, DD1 is back at nursery this afternoon so that will be good.... but other than that it is chill out central!

Not sleeping all that well at the moment, but as I keep saying to DH, its just getting me back in the habit for when DS makes his appearance!

Hope you are all ok, thinking of Pixie today.

Take care xxx

sarahloumadam · 29/10/2007 08:51

Hi all just signing in to say hello - i'll never catch up after neglecting mnet over the weekend! Don't think I have missed any births tho.

Got confirmation of our move in date (2nd Nov) so busy packing this week, can't wait to get in and sorted.

Picked up pram at the weekend and it is sat proudly in my hallway in spite of doom merchant relatives who told me it's bad luck (the logical conclusion of that is that if something goes wrong then it's my fault for bringing the pram into the house - honestly!)

Must go and do some packing whilst I have my morning burst of energy, looking forward to catching up on all of your news this afternoon.

Have a good day x

FCH · 29/10/2007 11:51

Hello!

All this talk of feeding Bras - I went to M&S to buy a two pack to tide me over for the first few days and ended up leaving with bras sized 34 G they fit my head!! I cannot believe that my poor boobs have grown so much, or that they could possibly get any bigger!! I now look at all my 34 C scraps of lace and vow never again to complain that they only make the nice ones in A and B cups!

By the way - I have a couple of pairs of M&S body shaping knickers that I bought last year to go under some particularly challenging evening dresses, but it hadn't occurred to me I would need a bigger size as obviously my beautiful pre-pregnancy 6-pack will be back within a week or two right?? What a moron! I will be taking advantage of Choudhru's M&S links too methinks!

Now - this afternoon I am off for some accupuncture as a friend has suggested this may help the baby to turn round and engage properly and generally show some interest in joining us all out here. I don't suppose it will actually get anything started but some improved positioning would be good and my SIL said when she had it it really improved her sleep for a few nights - so I will keep you all posted on that.

By the way - on the Christmas cards, I have bought mine and started writing out the envelopes, which is always the worst bit (keeep thinking I should set up the computer to print address labels, but am not sure I can bring myself to be so obviously lazy about the whole thing!!) so that once the baby has arrived DH can just fill in the insides and put them in the envelopes - well this is the theory anyway!

Anyway - fingers crossed for more baby news in the next day or so...

fiona76 · 29/10/2007 12:19

Hi all happy monday!!!
I've been to the doc this morning and LO is not engaged but is pointed in the right direction and in a good position

I'm feeling really well though and happy. Hope I'm not using up all my happy hormones antenatally and its all going to be hard after.

RGPargy · 29/10/2007 13:51

Afternoon all!

Well, DS didn't pass his Health & Safety test so, although we had a book to revise from that DP used to renew his H&S card the other week, i have bought the brand new edition from Amazon for DS to read. We've rebooked the test for 3 weeks time, which gives him more than ample time to read the book and revise!

Yesterday i bought a Nigella Lawson cook book (the Nigella Express one) and am going to try cooking something simple from it for tea tonight. We're going to have Spanish Omlette. Yummy! The Gordon Ramsey one i bought the other day has got far too much fish in it for my liking (i dont eat fish) and it's very very fancy. This Nigella one seems right up my straight as all the recipes are fairly straight forward and QUICK!!! I'll let you know how i get on with it. Fingers crossed!

Ooooooo!!! My birth pool has just turned up!! How exciting!! I want to get it out and sit in it to see what it's like for size lol.

Sparkly - You're doing so well, hang in there! Even though you had PND with the other DCs, dont resign yourself to the fact that you will get it with Callum. You never know, it could bypass you this time I know what you mean about not wanting to co-sleep. I dont want to do that either for exactly the same reason as you! I think it's quite a common fear isn't it. I hope his night time sleeping settles in your favour soon.

Jet - No, no, you have it all wrong! You should get your DH to feed you chocolate while you're waiting for your nail polish to dry! Hope you had a good night's sleep!

Silk - Will be writing my cards after LO is here. Doing the envelopes before hand is a good tip tho - might nick that one myself!

Superloopy - sorry you are getting cramps. Deffo have a banana before bed. It's normally a lack of potassium that causes cramps. Give it a go.

I'm also sticking my hands up to being in "old woman mode" when getting up or sitting down with very loud "oooomph!" noises lol.

Jarm - hope you're having a good day of chilling out! Did DH run the bath for you?

Sarah - good luck with the move on Friday. Make sure you just stay as chief tea maker and dont even attempt and doing the humping around!

FCH - Enjoy(?) your acupuncture! Does it hurt??

Fiona - glad LO is at least in the right position, even if not engaged. I'm sure all those happy hormones will still be there after the baby. Especially as we have the invaluable support of MN to fall back on!

Right, i'm off to sweep the floor and bake cookies.

In a bit!

hello all!

Dh finally ran me a bath at about 11.30am! So I was in bed all morning! Was good though, managed to finish my book and just chill out.

Went to library, but forgot that it doesnt open on mondays! DOH!

Will have to wait til tomorrow to get another book now, but then Im at doctors for ante-natal so not out of the way.

Hope you are all having a good monday, and hope PIXIE is well on her way to having another bundle!

RGPargy · 29/10/2007 14:08

Loopy - ahhhh right, yes, i know what you mean. My niece was also very fond of tags on blankets etc, although DS preferred the blankets with the silk bit at either end and would fiddle with the silky bit alot.

Jarm - wow, you had a lovely relaxing morning! Makes a change, eh?!

PIXIE - Good luck for today!!!!!!!! Exciting!!

Finally caught up with all the chat - aided by maltesers and cup of tea! Got some packing done this morning but run out of steam now. Been waiting in for courier again and if they don't come in the next half-hour will be the second time they have not shown up grrrr. But was in anyway so can't be arsed to get too worked up about it tbh.

Had a lovely weekend with DH (probably our last chaos-free one for a while!). Went for Sunday dinner at gorgeous country pub that all our friends have recommended and we have never got round to going to and had the most fab sunday dinner ever in front of roaring fire and came home to read papers and have a snooze - bliss . LO was tangoing all evening after such a relaxing day.

RG - thanks! We are moving with help of our friends and family who will all shout at me if I try to lift boxes so I will be the guv and chief tea-maker. Its v.v.exciting! Let us know re Nigella - I can't bear watching her anymore because she is just too silly but I like her recipes and have tried one or two. Might get the book if you think is worth it.

JARM - morning in bed sounds lovely and glad to hear you are taking it easy. I haven't got any books to read at the mo and it's driving me mad - will have to pop to library later.

Hope the acupuncture goes well FCH.

LOL Fiona you are always happy, it's lovely.

Minicooper · 29/10/2007 15:27

RG, I also have Nigella Express - v good quck chilli in there too. Also scrummy sounding chocolate mousse with no eggs in - perfect for us at the mo! I can't watch her either tho - did anyone see last week's? I'm sure that chicken was v pink! Not going round to her's for dinner! Just had first NHS antenatal class. Scary stuff! Can't believe they're so late either, could have had the LO by now if I'd followed in the footsteps of some on here!

jinxed · 29/10/2007 15:31

hi guys - just to let you know ive changed my name.... think someone in RL is spying on me!

Its j a r m btw! xx

fiona76 · 29/10/2007 15:35

I have been quite happy lately but you should have seen me in the first 4 months of this pg I was a right miserable cow. DH was really worried that he'd never get me back. It's only been the last 2 months really probably because I gave up work so early.

fiona76 · 29/10/2007 15:36

Who is spying on you??

RGPargy · 29/10/2007 15:58

Mini - i've never actually watched her cookery programmes, but did see her in an interview with Jonathan Ross and thought she was absolutely lovely! Jonathan Ross said that he liked her stuff too because she was curvacious and looked like she loved her food and the recipes were lovely and wholesome. As much as i like Gordon Ramsey, his recipes are too flambouyant for my liking!

Jinxed - Who's stalking you?!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 29/10/2007 16:06

Sarah - Sounds like you had the perfect Sunday. If you are after a decent read I can highly recommend 'Salmon Fishing In The Yemen ' by Paul Torday. It's light and very funny. Also, ' A Spot of Bother' by Mark Haddon - the Dog in The Night Time' bloke, is another goodie.

RG - Sorry Ds didn't pass his test > let me know how you get on with the Nigella book. Apparantly her chocolate cloud cake is rather good. I can't quite bring myself to make it though as it has about eight eggs in it.

FCH -Hope the acupunture goes well.

Jinxed - hope you find the book tips helpful. Glad you eventually got your bath. Sounds like alovely morning.

Sparkly - Glad to hear that you are feeling I hope Callum manages to settle soon. You've got a hell of a lot cope with and I really admire your positivity. Don't forget that you are allowed to cut yourself some slack.

Mini - If you aren't going round to Nigella's then I'm not either!

littleoldme · 29/10/2007 16:09

Rg - I've never tried one one Gordon's dishes but I love him. There's a kind of smouldering intensity to him that makes me come over all unecessary... think I'd better go and have a cold shower.

Easywriter · 29/10/2007 16:39

Sarah - Good luck with the move! New home, new babe. What could be better? Don't do anything strenuous tho', you're strictly on chocolate biscuit/Wispa tasting detail.

Love Nigella's chocolate cloud cake, in fact I love all her cakes but I can't bear to watch her programme nowdays. I think I've o'd'ed on her. Not a fan of Gordon in a big way either. His language is too much for me.

In fact, whinge, whinge, moan, moan, pregnancy has just about turned me off all TV. Unless I'm actually eating chocolate whilst pretending to watch TV.

SGK - HAng in there as RG said just because PND has happened before it needn't happen this time. As Littleoldme said please cut yourself some slack, you're a great mum doing a great job. Just focus on you and your family everything else can wait.

Jinxed - Is it Rupert Penry-Jones?

All those who are sorting christmas cards. I'm in awe. Must get something sorted too.

It's half term here and I've realised I'm a strictly one activity a day mum. I'm exhausted after taking them for haircuts and out for lunch (it's nearly 5). I feel bloody awful that they've spent this afternoon watching The sound of music but I've no energy left. DP is off work tomorrow to look after them but I'm dreading the remainder of the week.

I'm also REALLY tired of everyone asking me if I'm sure it's not twins. Is it because I already have or because I'm massive? I know I'm nowhere near as large as I was with the girls as I could safely sit a cup of tea on my bump and remove my hands with no danger of it falling off and that's a total non-starter with this bump.

HAve justed texted DP for chocolate or ice cream supplies and I feel the day brightening already.

jinxed · 29/10/2007 16:45

I have a feeling its my S I L but cant be sure. Just something that she has put on Facebook and I think its aimed at me because of a few posts I have put on here, although I dont think any of them are anything to be upset about.... maybe its just hormones in overdrive but Im not taking the chance!

Will see if she responds to the message I sent, if not, I guess it is me!

Not to worry - I will revert back once I know either way!

choudru · 29/10/2007 16:49

Sparkly - when DS was born, I basically had to hold him all day long for the first 2 months. When he slept I would have to swaddle him and even then, I would have to put rolled up towels on either side of him to make him feel snug and surrounded.

They told me about it (apparently called attachment parenting) in SCBU - because Callum should still be curled up and snug inside his mummy, he might feel insecure when his arms/legs are too free to flail around IYKWIM. Particularly affects premmies.

Admittedly, holding a baby all day long is fine when it's your first, but not as practical when you have other children to look after.

I remember all these people would tell me I was spoiling him/making a rod for my own back etc etc by holding him so much. But I completely ignored them. They were obviously talking rubbish because soon after his due date, I was able to put him down in his cot AWAKE, switch off the light, close the door and within 5 minutes he would be asleep.

As for co-sleeping - I did that (and will be doing with this baby probably). But instead of having baby on the bed itself, I used to put him on his moses basket mattress and wrap his blanket around him and moses mattress IYSWIM. He never went under our duvet so no worries about overheating, and because he couldn't roll off the mattress, I didn't have to worry about rolling on top of him.

You are an old hand at this remember!

Jetgirl - glad you and DD made your peace

Met up with littleoldme for lunch today and DS was much better behaved. He was still demanding and completely unable to sit still but no tantrums/screaming/throwing food around. He isn't even 2.5 yet so he did pretty well considering how bad he could have been!

It did help that LOM was a star and chatted to him about his comic so he felt included. She is now officially Auntie LOM.

RG - you DomGod you! Baking cookies, sweeping floors! Are you - could you be - NESTING!? I hope DP appreciates all your support on his revising - I wouldn't have the brainpower to help DH memorise a shopping list at the moment.

My boots delivery arrived today so now I have my bottles, breastmilk storage bags and sterlising solution.

Loopy - hope you're getting through your to-do list.

Wonder how Pixie's getting on?

Easywriter · 29/10/2007 16:52

Yeah! Good vibes aplenty and hugs to you Pixie.
Can't wait to hear your news!

choudru · 29/10/2007 16:57

Easy - I think one activity a day is perfectly acceptable. There is research that suggests that kids who are occupied all the time by their carers can risk losing some ability to use their imagination to occupy themselves.

They do need time to be creative and think up things to do themselves. After all, isn't that what we did when we were kids? I don't remember my mum arranging many activities for us, but we still had loads of fun growing up.

So you sound like you are doing fine to me.

All this talk of cakes is wrong wrong wrong! Now I'll have to get DH to buy me some on his way home.
